Query for data input into IncoCube (Non Integrated Planning)

Hello Gurus,
i was trying to search over the internet how to make a query ready for input, but without using integrated planning, but no luck.
I want to make a bex query (specific form) which could be filled with data by simple user, and then on button click sent to BW InfoCube.
Is it at all possible or not?

Hi,
You can use data slice for this. Activate the data slice for sl no 1 and 3 and the appln will not allow you to enter for these records.
Data slice can be made dynamic to activate/deactive as per your requirement.

Using ALV Grid for data Input

Hi experts.
Can someone assist me with information on using ALV grid for data input. Please give a simple example if possible.
I am mainly interested in the part in which we can transfer data from the grid changing the internal table's data.

Tree-control for data input?

Hi,
I need to program an input screen for values that have hierarchical dependencies (e.g. sums). I feel, the most adequate user-interface would be a tree control, because of the data dependencies and also because the users asked for a possibility to collapse/expand parts of the data during input.
I had a look at CL_GUI_COLUMN_TREE, but I'm not sure, if it can be used for data input. Has anyone done something like this before or can anybody direct me to some additional sample coding? (the sample coding in the reuse library didn't do it...)

Since you say that the user's input is hierarchical in nature, it is nice to have a tree-control for input. But, the choice of using a custom-control-version of the tree is a cause for some concern. I cannot recollect any of the SAP screens where the input can be given through such a tree framework (please do let me know if you have come across one). The problem with such a tree would be in the areas of even-handling. Filling the tree with appropriate data at the right times would be another challenge.
However, there's one alternative that I would like to direct your attention to. You must have observed another kind of tree, when you select an application component from the APPLICATION HIERARCHY, which is just like a list. Also, the Transport Organizer (SE09), Menu Painter (SE41) etc., have this kind of a tree. You can use this if you (or rather your users) are very particular on having a tree display. For more information, you can see the Function Group SEUT, which has the required function modules to accomplish the same. The Function Group is well documented, and you might have to work a little on the function modules themselves.

Nobody will be able to identify the problem without seeing your code. Excel Insert Cells.vi is used to add cells to an existing spreadsheet, not to set the cell value. To do this is a more specific way than the Append Report Text.vi you can use Excel Easy Text.vi or Excel Insert Table.vi. With these vis you can specify the range where you want to insert something.
For your other question (Two different data types) you can use the Excel Set Cell Format.vi to format a range as a date or something else. You will need to use the Excel format specifiers for this.

Combine year + period as one dimension for data input

Existing Hyperion Planning has 2 dimension to keep the year and period. Our users would like to have the data entry web form title to show the year+period e.g. Jan 2009 instead of two rows. Is it very difficult to build such a label or a dimension for data input?

Because there are 12 months in a year and they need to input more than 10 years budget, the label on the web form is not easy to view from our end user point of view. They say that sometimes they will input data in the wrong year. So they prefer to the column label as Jan2009, Feb2009, etc instead.

I am using the same vi which you have suggested and i have selected proper com port and other settings, but i am not getting any data,but if i send "ADC0" and "*IDN?\n" command alternatively then it is giving the data...but if i do that i will get zero and data alternatively.I want to get data without zero in between.. any solutions on why i have to send *IDN?\n?

Ms access 2007 between query for date

Dear All,
I am using the below query to fetch records from a table between two dates
select * from tablename where Format([VisitDate],"Short Date") >=Format(#01/10/2014#,"Short Date") and Format([VisitDate],"Short Date") <=Format(#31/10/2014#,"Short Date")
I want records between 1st Oct to 31st Oct only, but the above query shows Nov and December data also. Please let me know where I am going wrong.

The Format function returns a string expression, so the comparison is on that basis not on the date value. You do not need to worry about the format at all as the date/time data type in Access is implemented as a 64 bit floating point number.
You can see it in whatever date/time format you wish, but the underlying value is always the same. When you include a date literal in an SQL statement or in VBA code it must be either in US short date format (mm/dd/yyyy), or in an internationally unambiguous
format. The ISO standard format for date notation of YYYY-MM-DD is a good choice. So you query would be:
SELECT *
FROM tablename
WHERE VisitDate >= #2014-10-01#
AND VisitDate < #2014-11-01#;
Note that the range is defined as on or after the start date and before the day following the end date. This ensures that all relevant rows are returned. As there is no such thing in Access as a 'date value', but only a 'date/time value' it is possible
that a 'date' of 31 October 2014 could have a non-zero time of day element unless you have taken steps in the table definition to specifically exclude values with a non-zero time of day. Such date/time values would not fall within a range ending <=
#2014-10-31#, so would not be returned by the query. Defining the end of the range with < #2014-11-01# ensures that such rows are returned.

Query for data

Hi all, i am trying to write a query for a specific scenario using analytic functions.
i have a table that has data in week basis. here is some sample data
id date value
1 1/4/10 A
1 1/11/10 B
1 1/18/10 C

2 ....
each date represent the beginning of the week. i have another table that contains calendar dates that include day of the week excluding weekends and holidays.
example data
id date
1 1/4/10
1 1/5/10
1 1/6/10
1 1/7/10
1 1/8/10
1 1/11/10
1 ...... SO ON
as you can see 1/1/10, 1/2, 1/3 are not present because they are either holidays or weekends.
what i want to do is join this two tables by id and the output should be the following
1 1/4/10 A
1 1/5/10 A
1 1/6/10 A
1 1/7/10 A
1 1/8/10 A
1 1/11/10 B
1 1/12/10 B
1 1/13/10 B
1 1/14/10 B
1 1/15/10 B
and so on. so as you can see. i am converting the week table (first table) into day basis. i tried to use analytic function but i was not very successful since i am new to them. any help will be appricatiate. provide sample query if possible. thanks a lot

Fo example March the last week starts on 29 and has 1st apr and 2nd apr in the same week.Would you consider those?

Data Input into a Wizard

Dear Fellow Developers:
I am currently developing a wizard that receives data inputted from a user. At a few points in the process, the wizard requires the user to input several pieces of data in one step, as part of a loop.
For example:
A wizard asks the user, how many friends do you have? The user then inputs an int into a textfield. Based on that number, the next panel then prompts the user to input the names of his/her friends. I don't want to create a panel with a single textfield which corresponds to each friend that the user has, so that if the user said they had ten friends, ten panels are created, allowing the user to enter one name in each panel. I want a SINGLE panel to follow the step where the user is prompted for the number of friends, and regardless of the number entered, the user will be able to enter ALL the names of his/her friends on a SINGLE panel that follows. HOW DO I ACHIEVE THIS IN SWING, AND IS DYNAMIC SO THAT THE NUMBER DOES NOT MATTER, WHATEVER NUMBER IS ENTERED IN THE FIRST PANEL, THE SECOND PANEL WILL ALLOW THE USER TO ENTER THAT MANY NAMES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS???

A suggestion: any time you need useability ideas, simply look at how other polished apps acheive the effect you want. On Windows, play with all the Control Panel dialogs.

Using an MS Excel like template for data entry into an Oracle table

Does anybody know of a way, or development tool, that has the look and feel of MS Excel but can be used for data entry and be saved to an Oracle table and be embedded into a JSP page? I am currently using iSupport and have a need to allow users to enter data into an MS Excel like template, once the user saves the service request I need for the values to be saved in the attribute fields of the service request. I need the ability to map the cells of the template to the fields in the Oracle table. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Query for date range? DPL

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find the answer. I'm new to the DPL and was trying to find out how to query for objects that fall within a "date range". If I have an object that has a field "effective date", I would like to query for a list of objects that fall between a date range. Can I do this with DPL?

Yes, the DPL can be used to iterate over the entities where a given date field D falls with a specified date range. To do this, you define D as a @SecondaryKey, create a SecondaryIndex for it, and get a cursor for the specified range using one of the SecondaryIndex.entities() methods. Be sure to close the cursor.

Dates are treated as long values, so a range of Date keys is no different that a range of long keys. Date and long are both "simple types" according to the DPL definition.

Hi Mohammad,
A date range query can be performed as a key range query. There's nothing special about dates except that you'll want to use a key binding that gives a meaningful sort order. If you're representing your dates in milliseconds, then a LongBinding (in com.sleepycat.bind.tuple) will work well. In general, use tuple bindings for keys, because they provide a meaningful sort order.

On range searches in general, they can be done with Cursor.getSearchKeyRange or with the SortedSet.subSet and SortedMap.subMap methods, depending on whether you are using the base API or the Collections API. It is up to you which to use.
If you use Cursor.getSearchKeyRange you'll need to call getNext to iterate through the results. You'll have to watch for the end range yourself by checking the key returned by getNext. This API does not have a way to enforce range end values automatically.
If you use the Collections API you can call subMap or subSet and get an Iterator on the resulting collection. That iterator will enforce both the beginning and the end of the range automatically.
