Query sql with parameters
Hi. I create a ViewObject with the query
SELECT Tblagenda.idagenda,
Tblagenda.data_agenda,
Tblagenda.dono
FROM TBLAGENDA Tblagenda
WHERE Tblagenda.idagenda = ?
Please, how to setup the query parameter in runtime? Somebody could show me a example or tutorial?
I´m using MySQL.
Thanks
Hi,
this is what we have developer guides for. Please have a look at bind parameter usage in

Hello Forum,
I'm currently tuning some SQLs with parameters that run some minutes. When I enter the SQL in the worksheet and press F9, SQL Developer asks for the parameters. But after clicking "Apply" (or whatever it is called in the english version, I'm using german ;-)
I get the elapsed time of 0.018 seconds displayed and the whole program hangs until the SQL is completed. The elapsed time is not updated so I don't get the real elapsed time.
I run SQL Developer against an Oracle 9.2 Database on Win2k. The client runs WinXP.
I hope this is not a double post but searching the forum for "parameters" gave too many hits to check. ;-)
Regards,
dhalekSqldev hangs when issuing an action that requires the previous action to be completed first.
Sqldev could open a new connection for this, or at least display a message telling the action isn't possible until the previous one completes, instead of just hanging. Vote for the requests for this on the SQL Developer Exchange if you want this getting addressed sooner.
Thanks,

Query SQL with variables Parameters and user defined tables
Hi everyone
I got a problem about Query SQL
[dbo].[@CSOURCE] is a user defined table
select * from [dbo].[@CSOURCE]
you can get the result in following

when I execute the following SQL Statements ,I get an error
SELECT T0.CardCode , 0.CardName ,T1.Name ,T2.SONumber
FROM OCRD T0 LEFT JOIN [dbo].[@CSOURCE] T1 ON T0.U_CSOURCE = T1.Code
LEFT JOIN (SELECT T0.CardCode ,COUNT(T0.DocNum)SONumber

How to query Database with Parameters and configure null value response?
Hi,
1.When capture attributes from forms & after applying several logics, passing to a DB table using an API, how to get relevant values for a given parameter in another DB table ?
2.When a DB table is queried, if the value does not exist, how to configure the response message ?
Thanks.Okay, you've provided exactly what John S. asked for - and no more. This is helpful, but not enough. I think we're going to need a use case to understand exactly what you are asking. What should the user see? What does the user do next? What should happen in the database and in the application when the user does this?
However, I'll try to read between the lines a bit, and get you part of the way there. To query the database with parameters in ADF BC, you need a View Object (VO). The simplest thing to do is create the SELECT command behind the VO with some bind variables and add the bind variables to your VO. At that point, you will get an ExecuteWithParameters operation in the Data Control. You can drag that operation onto a JSF page and it will give you an option to create a parameter form to let the user fill in the parameters to set the bind variables, and a button to execute the query with these values. Any table or form based on that same VO will show the selected data.
A Trinidad or ADF Rich Faces table will have an attribute to let you define some text to show the user if no data was retrieved by the query. But there are other ways to determine if data was retrieved which you can use to control other ways to display this information. For instance, I have a page that has an outputText component that has a "rendered" attribute to show the text only when there was no data retrieved by a query. -
How to refresh report data from bex query (BW) with parameters
Hello,
i hope someone can help me with my problem. I developed an desktop application, which loads (actual state) a report from the local file system. After setting the parameters, the report should be saved as a pdf file. Loading the report into the ReportDocument object and exporting the report to a pdf works fine. Setting parameters (without) a data source too. But now i can't refresh the data in the reports given by a parameter (e.g. time).
I know there are two methods to do this. Push and pull. I want to use the pull method, cause my program should exports different reports and i think it should be easier to handle this with this method.
On my development environment is installed:
Crystal Reports SP 4
MS Visual Studio 2010 (coding with C# .NET)
.NET Framework 4
SAP Integration Kit
Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 SP1 - SDK libraries
Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 SP1 - Runtime 32 bit
SAP GUI 7.20 (Compilation 3)
The bex query is enabled for external use from ole db for olap. Do i have forget something else?
Here is a part of my code:
public ReportDocument doPullMethod(ReportDocument crReportDocument)
TableLogOnInfo crTableLogOnInfo = crReportDocument.Database.Tables[0].LogOnInfo;
ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo;
crConnectionInfo.Password = "*******";
crReportDocument.SetDatabaseLogon(crConnectionInfo.UserID, crConnectionInfo.Password, crConnectionInfo.ServerName, crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName);
MessageBox.Show(crConnectionInfo.UserID + " _ " + crConnectionInfo.Password + " _ " + crConnectionInfo.ServerName + " _ " + crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName);
for (int i = 0; i < crReportDocument.Database.Tables.Count; i++)
// crReportDocument.Database.Tables<i>.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);
MessageBox.Show("TestConnectivity: " + crReportDocument.Database.Tables<i>.TestConnectivity());
return crReportDocument;
Cause i'm using only one bex query, i know that the SetDatabaseLogon()-method should bring me the same result as the ApplyLogOnInfo()-method SAP Crystal Reports .NET API Guide
Exists an order which i have to follow? First setting parameter and then set the login informations or backwards? Cause i also get the "Failed to load database information" exception, when i set a parameter and TestConnectivity() returns false.
Do i have to activate the data refresh manually or will be the data refreshed automatically on export?
I searched in this forum (.NET - SAP Crystal Reports) and found only this thread which according to my problem:
[Re: Crystal report connects to BW RFC by .NET;
The question is assumed answered.Hi Robin,
There is a SAP Integration Kit you need to allow CR to connect to SAP data sources. There isn't one for CR for VS 2010 and I don't believe there are the various extra options available in the SDK, no SDK access to the DB driver.
Possibly, Check the other post, download and run the app Ludek suggested, it will get the connection info for your report using RAS and then plug the output code into your code and see if that works. It should show the crdb_olap dll is the database driver, assuming that is the connection method you used when designing the report.
Pay attention to the database dll in the output from that app and verify it is on your PC in: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86
If that doesn't work then.....
The problem is, CR for VS 2010 ( version 13 ) is the runtime for BOE 4.0 ( version 14 ) which includes the Integration kit drivers on install. There is no standalone install of the database drivers. They are installed with CR 2011, which doesn't have a SDK included, CR for VS 2010 is also the Developer version for CR 2011.
Because of the "custom" connection requirements there is no SDK or access to the BW datasource extra options....
Also note that CR 2008 is not supported in VS 2010, it should work though as long as you stick to 2.0 -> 3.5 framework, no 4.0 Framework support in CR 2008 or BOE 4.0
You may want to try the SAP Integration Kit forum to see if anyone has been able to make this work or contact your account manager to verify if there are any plans to do what you are doing....

11G Pivot Query with parameters
Hello all,
I would like to find some way, any way to pass parameters to a pivot query. The following pivot query works, but I would like segment2 to be a variable as well as the period names so....
select * from
select segment2, accounted_dr, period_name
from gl_je_lines a, gl_code_combinations b
where b.code_combination_id = a.code_combination_id
and segment2 >='007611' and segment2 <='007751' AND period_name in ('SEP-08','OCT-08','NOV-08'))
pivot
sum(accounted_dr)
for period_name in ('SEP-08','OCT-08','NOV-08') )
....would be something like....
select * from
select segment2, accounted_dr, period_name
from gl_je_lines a, gl_code_combinations b
where b.code_combination_id = a.code_combination_id
and segment2 >= :P4_OBJECT_FROM AND and segment2 <=:P4_OBJECT_TO AND period_name in &P4_EPSB_PERIOD_HOLD.)
pivot
sum(accounted_dr)
for period_name in (&P4_EPSB_PERIOD_HOLD.) )
It is our understanding that we have to hardcode period names and objects, but we would like to get around that. Does anyone have any ideas or tricks?

Hello all,
We are trying to use the 11G pivot query function with data from Oracle E-Business Suite. We have an 11G database installed with our Oracle APEX. We cannot seem to get the pivot function to work. At a glance, would anyone be able to see any glaring errors in our syntax. I am not certain it is possible to provide test data Why not?

We are trying to have column headings with the Period Names SEP-08 OCT-08 NOV-08, with rows of segment2 007751 and accounted_dr as the dataset.
When we run the sql we get an error ORA-00904: "PERIOD_NAME": invalid identifier.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
select * from (
select segment2, accounted_dr, period_name
from gl_je_lines a, gl_code_combinations b
where b.code_combination_id = a.code_combination_id
and segment2 = '007751')
pivot
sum(accounted_dr)
for period_name in ('SEP-08','OCT-08','NOV-08')
group by segment2, period_nameDon't use GROUP BY. When you use PIVOT, the grouping is implied by what is in the PIVOT clause and what is not.
Try this:
select *
from (
select segment2
, accounted_dr
, period_name
from gl_je_lines a
, gl_code_combinations b
where b.code_combination_id = a.code_combination_id
and segment2 = '007751'
pivot (
sum (accounted_dr)
for period_name in ('SEP-08','OCT-08','NOV-08')
;which is just your posted query without the GROUP BY clause. -
ADF BC connection to SQL Server with parameterized variable for View Object
Hi everyone
I'm developing a BPM Application using Oracle BPM 11.1.1.5.0 and JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0
Following the thread from the link below, since this is a new topic, I decided to open a new thread.
Re: ADF method call to fetch data from DB before the initiator page loads
what I'm trying to do is to get a record from a database and show it to the user on the initiator UI using ADF BC and not the Database Adapter.
I have been able to work with ADF BC and View Objects to get all the rows and show them to the user in a table.
However, when I try to run the same query in the parameterized form to just return a single row, I hit a wall.
In short, My problem is like this:
I have an Application Module which has an entity object and a view object.
My database is SQL Server 2008.
when I try to create a new read only view object to return a single row I face the problem.
The query I have in the query section of my View Object is like this:
select *
from dbo.Employee
where EmployeeCode= 99which works fine.
However when I define a bind variable, input_code for example, and change the query to the following it won't validate.
select *
from dbo.Employee
where EmployeeCode= :input_codeIt just keeps saying
>
incorrect syntax near ":"

I don't know if this has to do with my DB not being Oracle or I'm doing something wrong.
Can someone help me with this problem please?
thanks in advanceHi
This all seems complicated to me so I think my simplest way would be to use the java code in the aformentioned thread by Sudipto:
public String getUserLogin() throws WorkflowException,
BPMIdentityException,
BPMUnsupportedAttributeException {
String userId = "";
IWorkflowServiceClient wfSvcClient;
ITaskQueryService queryService;
IWorkflowContext wfContext;
// Get username of User Login
String contextStr = ADFWorklistBeanUtil.getWorklistContextId();
wfSvcClient = WorkflowService.getWorkflowServiceClient();
queryService = wfSvcClient.getTaskQueryService();
wfContext = queryService.getWorkflowContext(contextStr);
userId = wfContext.getUser();
return userId;
} I don't know where and how I should put the code to be called when the view object loads though.
I have created a class in the java class section of my view object which has two methods related to the bind variable input_empCode:
getinput_empcode and setinput_empcode , as expected.
however any code i try to put in those two would not be called at all!
for example:
public Integer getinput_empCode() {
//return (Integer)getNamedWhereClauseParam("input_empCode");
return 1444;
}and
public void setinput_empCode(Integer value) {
//setNamedWhereClauseParam("input_empCode", value);
setNamedWhereClauseParam("input_empCode", 666);
}It just keeps filled with the values in the bind variable section.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong here.
would you show me the way?
Thanks again -
T-sql 2008 r2 place results from calling a stored procedure with parameters into a temp table
I would like to know if the following sql can be used to obtain specific columns from calling a stored procedure with parameters:
/* Create TempTable */
CREATE TABLE #tempTable
(MyDate SMALLDATETIME,
IntValue INT)
GO
/* Run SP and Insert Value in TempTable */
INSERT INTO #tempTable
(MyDate,
IntValue)
EXEC TestSP @parm1, @parm2
If the above does not work or there is a better way to accomplish this goal, please let me know how to change the sql?declare @result varchar(100), @dSQL nvarchar(MAX)
set @dSQL = 'exec @res = TestSP '''+@parm1+''','' '''+@parm2+' '' '
print @dSQL
EXECUTE sp_executesql @dSQL, N'@res varchar(100) OUTPUT', @res = @result OUTPUT
select @result
A complicated way of saying
EXEC @ret = TestSP @parm1, @parm2
SELECT @ret
And not only compliacated, it introduces a window for SQL injection.

SQL query slow with call to function
I have a SQL query that will return in less than a second or two with a function in-line selected in the "from" clause of the statement. As soon as I select that returned value in the SQL statement, the statement takes from anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes to return. Here is a simplified sample from the statement:
This statement returns in a second or 2.
select A.pk_id
from stu_schedule A, stu_school B, stu_year C, school_year D,
(select calc_ytd_class_abs2(Z.PK_ID,'U') ytd_unx
from stu_schedule Z) II
where B.pk_id = A.fk_stu_school
and C.pk_id = B.fk_stu_year
and D.pk_id = C.year
and D.school_year = '2011';
if I add this function call in, the statement runs extremely poor.
select A.pk_id,
II.ytd_unx
from stu_schedule A, stu_school B, stu_year C, school_year D,
(select calc_ytd_class_abs2(Z.PK_ID,'U') ytd_unx
from stu_schedule Z) II
where B.pk_id = A.fk_stu_school
and C.pk_id = B.fk_stu_year
and D.pk_id = C.year
and D.school_year = '2011';
Here is the function that is called:
create or replace FUNCTION calc_ytd_class_abs2 (p_fk_stu_schedule in varchar2,
p_legality in varchar2) return number IS
l_days_absent number := 0;
CURSOR get_class_abs IS
select (select nvl(max(D.days_absent),'0')
from cut_code D
where D.pk_id = C.fk_cut_code
and (D.legality = p_legality
or p_legality = '%')) days_absent
from stu_schedule_detail B, stu_class_attendance C
where B.fk_stu_schedule = p_fk_stu_schedule
and C.fk_stu_schedule_detail = B.pk_id;
BEGIN
FOR x in get_class_abs LOOP
l_days_absent := l_days_absent + x.days_absent;
END LOOP;
return (l_days_absent);
END calc_ytd_class_abs2;Query returns anywhere from 6000 to 32000 rows. For each of those rows a parameter is passed in to 4 different functions to get ytd totals. When I call the functions in the in-line view but do not select from them in the main SQL, the report (oh, this is Application Express 4.0 interactive reports, just an FYI) runs fast. The report comes back in a few seconds. But when I select from the in-line view to display those ytd totals, the report runs extremely slow. I know there are the articles about context switching and how mixing SQL with PL/SQL performs poorly. So I tried a pipeline table function where the function for the ytd totals populate the columns of the pipeline table and I select from the pipeline table in the SQL query in the interactive report. That seemed to perform a little worse from what I can tell.
Thanks for any help you can offer. -
ADF how can i execute a query with parameters when the page renders
hi
i am using ADF web 11g
i need to execute a query with parameters when the page renders
thankshello,
I'm a fan of Java code, I really am.
But when you use ADF, you decided to move to a more declarative environment.
So why not do it declarative, the adf way?
In your pagedef insert a action binding.
This can be anything, a call to the application module, a call on the iterator(Like executeWithparams, etc.)
Create an invokeAction in your pagedef and set the condition.
This example refreshes(Action 2 is execute query) the data.
First the method binding:
<action IterBinding="PersoonIterator" id="Execute" InstanceName="LSAppModuleDataControl.Persoon"
DataControl="LSAppModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="2"/>And the invoke action
<invokeAction Binds="Execute" id="refreshData"/>This always refreshes the data on page entry, but anything is possible, you can set condictions for the invokeAction.
-Anton
PS Yes I know that pagedefs become backing beans in the end and yes that is Java code, but if you wanna play the ADF way, the goal is the reduction of Java code and the increased performance of declarative programming. -
How to numberformat when using sql:query alogn with c:forEach JSTL tags
Is there anyway to format the numeric values returned from the database when using <sql:query> alogn with <c:forEach> tags

<c:forEach var="row" items="${queryResults.rows}">

Col1 values are numeric without any formats Eg: 1000, 10000, 1000000 etc.
how can i format them to 1,000 , 10,1000 , 100,000 etcIt is polite to mention what your answer was. These posts are not just here for you to ask questions, but to be used as a resource for other people to find answers. Saying "I solved it" with no details helps noone.
I presume you discovered the JSTL <fmt:formatNumber> tag? -
SQL Query problems with Mysql - possible Java bug
I have a query that works fine on mysql, but does not work in my jsp page.... my db connection and all that jazz is fine.
select somefields from table order by (integerfield / doublefield)
two notes... the query works without the order by. And the query works with the order by when I'm working directly with the db. Any ideas? This is driving me nuts!!!!
Thanks,

Calling stored procedures with parameters with the Database Connectivity Toolkit
Hi all,
I am new to the forum and am having difficulty finding a solution to a particular problem I am having regarding using the LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolkit on a project I am currently working on at my job. I have a database in which I have tables and stored procedures with parameters. Some of these stored procedures have input, output, and return parameters.
I have been trying to follow this example but to no avail: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/07FD130746083E0686257300006326C4?OpenDocument
One such stored procedure I am working on implementing is named "dbo.getAllowablePNs", which executes "SELECT * from DeviceType" (DeviceType is the table). In this case, it does not require an input parameter, it has an output parameter that generates the table [cluster], and has a return parameter which returns an integer value (execution status code) to show if an error occurred. The DeviceType table has 3 columns; ID (PK, int, not null), PN (nvarchar(15), null), and NumMACAddresses (int, null). I have gone over many examples and have talking to NI support to try to implement this and similar stored procedures in LabVIEW but have not been successful. I am able to connect to the database with the Open Connection VI without error, but am running into some confusion following this step. I am then trying to use the Create Parameterized Query VI to call the stored procedure and set the parameters. I assume I would then use the Set Parameter Value VI for each parameter that is wired into the parameters input on the previous Parameterized Query VI? I am also having some confusion during and following these steps as well. I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions anyone might have in regards to this situation as I am not a SQL expert. Also, I would be happy to provide any more information that would be helpful.
Regards,
Jon
Solved!

-- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from

-- Insert statements for procedure here

How to set Query SQL Statement parameter dynamically in Sender JDBCAdpter
Hi All,
I have one scenario in which we are using JDBC Sender Adapter.
Now in this case,we need to set Query SQL Statement with a SELECT statement based on some fields.
This SQL statement is not constant, it would need to be changed.
Means sometimes receiver will want to execute SQL statement with these fields and sometimes they will want to execute it with different fields.
We can create separate channels for each SQL statement but again that is not an optimum solution.
So ,I am looking out for a way to set these parameters dynamically or set SQL statement at Runtime.
Can you all please help me to get this?Shweta ,
<i>Sometimes receiver will want to execute SQL statement dynamically</i>....
How you will get the query dynamically? Ok Let me assume, consider they are sending the query through file, then its definitely possible. But u need BPM and also not sender JDBC receiver adapter instead, receiver JDBC adapter.
SQL Query File ->BPM>Synchronous send [Fetch data from DB]--->Response -

Do u think the above design will suit's ur case!!!!
