Query that treats "accents insensitive" and "case insensitive"

I need to do one query that treats "accents insensitive" and "case insensitive" if possible too.
I need to have the query below ajusted to return both accent or not accent words:
with t as
( select 'xxxELEIÇÕESyyy' text from dual union all
select 'xxxELEIÇOESyyy' text from dual union all
select 'xxxELEICÕESyyy' text from dual)
select text from t
where text like '%eleicoes%'; --> i need some filter that result true for both 3 lines

SQL> with t as
2  ( select 'xxxELEIÇÕESyyy' text from dual union all
3  select 'xxxELEIÇOESyyy' text from dual union all
4  select 'xxxeleiÇOESyyy' text from dual union all
5  select 'xxxELEICÕESyyy' text from dual)
  6  select text from t
  7  where regexp_like(t.text, '(x|X){3}(ELEI|elei){1}([CcÇç]{1})([ÕOõo]{1})(ES|es){1}(y|Y){3}')
  8
SQL> /
TEXT
xxxELEIÇÕESyyy
xxxELEIÇOESyyy
xxxeleiÇOESyyy

  • How to query using 3 optional inputs and case insensitive using SQL?

    Hi Folks,
I am having trouble with the following query:
    select *
    from t1
    where (1=1)
    and lower(fname) like lower ('%mary%')
    and lower(lname) like lower ('%smith%')
    and lower(status) like lower ('%%')
I need all three statements in the where clause to be completely optional and case insensitve.
if I just write the following:
    (1=1)
    and lower(fname) like lower ('%mary%')
and lower(lname) like lower ('%%') <-- Need to ignore this line
and lower(status) like lower ('%%') <-- need to ignore this line
nothing is returned. How do I ignore the 2nd and third lines using SQL only. I know about the ask TOM Article using procedures, but I need to do this using SQL only
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
Is this query generated dynamically? (That's the only reason I can see for saying "WHERE 1 = 1".)
If so, test the parameters for NULL, and only add them if a value was given.
Failing that, you can explicitly test for NULL parameters
    where   (     lower(fname)  = '%' || lower (:p_fname) || '%'
         OR     :p_fname     IS NULL
    and     (     lower(lname)  = '%' || lower (:p_lname) || '%'
         OR     :p_lname     IS NULL
    and     (     lower(status) = '%' || lower (:p_status) || '%'
         OR     :p_status    IS NULL
)Did you really mean to have all those '%''s? '%' is a wildcard in LIKE operations, but not when using =.
    Perhaps you should be saying:
    where   (     lower(fname)  = lower (:p_fname)
         OR     :p_fname     IS NULL
    and     (     lower(lname)  = lower (:p_lname)
         OR     :p_lname     IS NULL
    and     (     lower(status) = lower (:p_status)
         OR     :p_status    IS NULL
)You're already handling case-sensitivity, by using LOWER in all the comparisons.
Unfortunately, you can't just say something like:
WHERE   LOWER (fname) = LOWER (NVL (:p_fname, fname))because that would discartd rows where fname IS NULL when :p_name is also NULL.

  • SELECT Query to get the Values in Case insensitive Format

    Hi ,
    This is hari,
I want to select the user name in a table ex: username="HARI" or username='Hari' or username="HaRi" like this
If i wrote the query like
    select username from userdb where username="Hari";
it is displaying the records which only matches "Hari" only .
can anybody help me out on this query asap please....
the query should return all the results
which matches any of the following strings as inputs "HARI" or "HaRi" or "hAri" or the like.
    Awaiting for Response,
    Thanks & Regards
    Hari

Another solution is setting NLS_SORT to CI - case insensitive (or whatever_your_language_is_CI) and NLS_COMP to ANSI:
    SQL> with t as (
2             select 'HARI' name from dual union all
3             select 'Hari' name from dual union all
4             select 'HaRi' name from dual
      5            )
      6  select  *
      7    from  t
      8    where name = 'hArI'
      9  /
    no rows selected
    SQL> alter session set nls_sort = binary_ci
      2  /
    Session altered.
    SQL> alter session set nls_comp=ansi
      2  /
    Session altered.
    SQL> with t as (
2             select 'HARI' name from dual union all
3             select 'Hari' name from dual union all
4             select 'HaRi' name from dual
      5            )
      6  select  *
      7    from  t
      8    where name = 'hArI'
      9  /
    NAME

  • Case sensitive and case insensitive Search

    Hi friends,
Iam doing an Search RFC which will search records based on the search parameters provided at the portal side.
One of the search parameter is a field with 40 character which holds the description(title) of the record.
With this search paramter iam facing case sensitive problem.
    Example:
Values in Database Table: ( Can be in any case)
           Record 1:  Sensitive
           Record 2:  SENSITIVE
           Record 3:  SensTive
           Record 4:  sensitive
           Record 5:  sensTive
         Input to RFC:  sens*
Output: Getting only 4rth and 5th record but not all the records.
The same is the case with the remaining search parameters(Like user name..).
Is there any way of getting all the records when searching from the data base (with case insensitive).
Kindly let me know if there is any possibility.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Swarna Munukoti.

Generally, no.  So, you'll either have to use EXEC SQL, or add more fields to the table.  You can do this using APPEND structures, which is the SAP approved way of adding fields.  If there are suitable user exits in the standard SAP code, then you'll be able to populate the additional fields there, as new records are created, or amended.
Alternatively, create your own Z table with the same key as the standard table and a "search field" which contains the uppercase version of the field you're wanting to search.  You can either, again populate in suitable user exits, or, in worst case, have job that runs regularly populating your Z table.

  • Use of wildcard and case insensitive searches

Used the "Create form from a table" option. Have a customized form for this table to query, insert, update, and delete rows. My question is how can I allow a user to 1) search using a wildcard (%) from this form and 2) how can I make the search case insensitive for my users.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Why not create a report to find the records and link to the form from the report.
You can then set the where clause to be whatever you wish:
    where tablename.columnname like :parameter
    or even:
    where UPPER(tablename.columnname) like UPPER(:parameter)

  • Phonetic and case insensitive searches in Oracle

    Hi,
Do you know if Oracle 9i allows phonetic searches ? I've found several solutions for case insensitive searches, but I'd need phonetic searches too (like 'había' vs. 'havia' vs. 'habia', etc)
Any comment would be really welcome.

We need to send URL of a given application to a dedicated managed server (7126), the rest on the "default" managed server (7122). The URL may come in uppercase or in lowercase. • ADF table: case-insensitive sorting

I have an <af:table> that uses a SortableModel as it's data source. I have sorting enabled on the table, but it's sorted according to case sensitivity.
My data source has mixed case, and I'd like to be able to sort regardless of case. Is there anyway to change the behavior so it does a case-insensitive sort instead?
    Thanks

In case anyone else is looking for this, I went ahead and wrote an extension of CollectionModel that performs a case insensitive sort on String objects. I'm posting it here in the hopes it will help others in the same jam I was. It would really have been helpful if Oracle had made the source code to SortableModel available. I hope I did things properly with the rowKey stuff since there are no examples to work from.
    Anyway, here it is:
    package com.fhm.mwb.ui.model;

The query is similar to the following:
    SELECT table_id INTO variable FROM table WHERE table.varchar2column = 'name' AND table.integercolumn = int_variable;
There is a unique constraint forcing the varchar2column / integercolumn values to be unique.
If the varchar2column has two entries that differ only in case, a regular select statement returns one result. However, in the stored procedure using the INTO, I get the following error message:
ORA-01422: exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows
It does not get that if I remove the entry that differs only in letter-case. This is Oracle 10.2.0.1.0, if that matters.
I need this query to be case sensitive. I'm not a DB expert, I'm just a developer trying to fix a problem. I attempted to run "ALTER session SET nls_sort = binary" in the stored procedure, but I guess I can't do that...
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

...When you say, "...AND table.integercolumn = int_variable;" What is the name of int_variable? Does that name match some column name? Could you post the table creats and a complete sample PL/SQL block with your issue?
One of the things that gets me every once in awhile is having a variable name that matches a column name. In that case the column name is used inside the select statement, not the variable. To avoid that issue, I use v_ for all my variables. (Others have different standard prefixes.)
I only point this out, because it might be given results that look case insensitive on the varchar2 column, but is really an issue with the integer column matching to a variable:

    Table dropped.

  • Intermittent oracle errors with case-insensitive searches

    Hi
I have a table with several columns, two of them are indexed with oracle text.
When I ask queries containing "CONTAINS"-clauses against these columns everything works great. However I have a few other columns in table that I want to run case-insensitive comparisons with.
    So I enable case-insensitivity:
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP=LINGUISTIC
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT=BINARY_CI
Now I suddenly start getting intermittent errors.
    When I call a query:
    SELECT
    FROM
    article_table at
    WHERE
    CONTAINS(searchfield , '%MEAT%') > 0
Sometimes it works, but sometimes I get:
    ERROR
ORA-29902: ett fel inträffade när rutinen ODCIIndexStart() kördes
    ORA-20000: Oracle Text error:
    DRG-00100: internal error, arguments : [50935],[drpn.c],[1051],[],[]
    DRG-00100: internal error, arguments : [50935],[drpnw.c],[601],[],[]
    DRG-00100: internal error, arguments : [51002],[drwa.c],[594],[],[]
    DRG-00100: internal error, arguments : [51028],[drwaw.c],[297],[0],[%MEAT%]
    DRG-00100: internal error, arguments : [50401],[dreb.c],[1033],[],[]
    ORA-00600: intern felkod, argument: [qernsRowP], [1], [], [], [], [], [], []
Anyone knows what is going on? Is this bug? Is there a fox for it?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
    /Kjell

Clearly that's a bug. Unless anyone here recognizes it and can point you to the bug/patch number I would strongly recomend you to take it to oracle support.
Incidently, doing a search for '%MEAT%' is usually a bad idea. Leading wildcards will disable the use of the index on the $I table, so unless you're using the SUBSTRING_INDEX option such searches will usually perform very badly. They shouldn't cause "internal errors", of course.

  • Conversion from a case-sensitive to case-insensitive disk configuration.

Being an old Unix user, I configured my disks to be case-sensitive. I've discovered that patches and updates to some applications fail due to changes in the case used for file names.
Is there a painless way to convert a case-sensitive file system to one that is case-insensitive?

I don't have current version of SoftRAID 4.0 but I thought that was one of its features, just as it can change the block size for arrays from 16-32-64-128k etc on the fly.
I haven't used it, but iPartition claims to be able to convert in-place between case-sentitive and case-insensitive HFS+ formats.
The trouble is, even then, a restore may not work properly.

  • Case-Insensitive Searching on Content Server

    Hello everyone,
I have a Content Server 10gr3 using an Oracle 11g DB. All of my searches are case sensitive, but we need case-insensitive searching. I've tried changing the DatabasePreserveCase variable in the config.cfg to 1, 0, true, and false, rebuilt the indexes in between each reboot (not sure if that's necessary or not), tried checking in new documents after making the changes and searching for those, but no matter, searches stay case sensitive.
We have another UCM install running on a 10.2.0.3.0 DB, and case insensitivity works on that Content Server with DatabasePreserveCase=1.
What could we be doing wrong? I've found several documents which have stated that case-insensitivity is impossible with an Oracle DB, but I think those are all old and from before Oracle's acquisition of the product (and obviously it is possible, since we have another install with it working).
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by Search Engine... we simply installed the Oracle 11g Database, then installed Content Server and configured it to run using that database. We haven't done anything with full-text search.
Edit: Do you mean the SearchIndexerEngineName value in the config file? It's DATABASE.METADATA, though at some point we also need to get full-text up and running which to my understanding requires it to be DATABASE.FULLTEXT.
As to the OracleCaseInsensitiveSearch component, where can I find it? Google shows up nothing, and MetaLink has one page saying that it exists but nothing more...
