Querying data in a text datatype in informix

I currently use HS to query an informix database from oracle. When I do a select * from... which includes a column that is a 'text' datatype, the query fails with :-
ERROR:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
ORA-02063: preceding line from QA01
The query will return a certain number of rows and then fail. Any ideas/clues would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Do you need the data in the Text column? If not don't select it.
If you do need the Text column can you cast to a more common type like a varchar?

  • Query to find all text attachments for items

    I am using the query below to try to find all active items for my org that have an attachment of type 33 (something we have defined I believe) and contain specific text. Some of the items appear to meet all criteria (active, right category, etc) but do not show up in my results. There is no workbook/worksheet linkage to a business area. So you cannot search for a business area and find all the workbooks "attached" to that business area. The attachment of workbooks is at the folder level. It is actually possible, if you are sharing folders among business areas, to create a workbook with data from 2 or more business areas. I have tested that and it is indeed possible. In Discoverer Administrator you can check on folder dependencies to see what workbooks use the folder. Though in my version of Discoverer, there is a problem with Discoverer Plus, such that the workbook save in Plus is not creating this dependency information like it should. At least I have not found any way to take a business area and determine what workbooks would fall under it. Maybe someone else has found a way.

  • Problem in reading Text (DataType) field.

    Hi
    Its j2sdk1.4.2_05, Tomcat 5.0, and MS SQL server 2000.
    My clients requirement is to store bulk text data into database.
    I created a table with one field of text datatype, I am unable to read the value in the field. If I change the field datatype to varchar, it works. I am reading data using Recordset class Object.
    If my problem is not clear, plz ask me to explain.
    Somewhere I read that this problem is due to Database drivers.

  • Export Query Data to Excel

    Hey guys, I have a cfm page that I am using to query data, and the  result set is displayed on the same page when a user clicks submit.
    My question is, I would like to create a clickable icon where, after a  user runs the query and the data table displays, I want the user to be  able to click a little Excel icon that will allow them to download the  data in Excel.
    So, a user clicks on a little icon somewhere on the page and IE or  Firefox or whatever pops up a little dialog box asking them if they want  to OPEN or SAVE the file results.xls.  How can I do this?
    Here is my current code, but where do I implement the cfoutput stuff to  export?  On the same page?
    <cfquery name="qActivity" datasource="khamp" result="resultInfo">

    </tr>
    </cfoutput>
    </table>
    </cfcontent>
    Thanks guysq

    To actually get the data into excel, google "cold fusion excel poi" and look for Ben Nadel's cfc.  Otherwise you might have issues with Office 2007.
    For the icon or whatever, make your query a session variable.  Then have the icon link to either a self closing popup or a very small iframe that exports the query to an excel file and then uses cfcontent to download it to the user.

  • How to validate Date value in Text Column

    Hi All,
    I have entered DATE value in text item field(Char Data Type), Now how can i validate, the entered date is valid or not.
    Thanks in advance.

    Well, the easiest way would be to make the item of datatype DATE.
    Another possibility is to try to convert the given value to a date in the WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM-trigger, like
    DECLARE
      dt DATE;
    BEGIN
      dt:=TO_DATE(:BLOCK.ITEM);
      -- if code comes here, the date is valid
    EXCEPTION
      WHEN OTHERS THEN
        -- seems to be no valid date
        MESSAGE('Error');
        RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
    END;Edited by: Andreas Weiden on 19.12.2010 12:23

  • Query data source type = procedure or from clause

  • Querying Date ranges

    I'm a beginner with Crystal.  I am creating a report that needs to prompt the user for a start and end date.  I have the parameter created and it prompts the user.  But the query doesnt seem to use the dates I enter.  I have had to enter start and end dates in the select expert/record function and it seems to use those.  What am I missing?  I've stated "is between" in the drop down and I expected to see my parameter field listed but its not there.  Its only there if I switch to "is equal to".  any ideas are greatly appreciated.
    do I need to specify a formula?  and if so, what is the syntax?  I tried a formula but it didnt like when I put in my parameter field.  I got an "it must be a date" error.
    Dave

    Hi David,
    You need to ensure that your date parameter is of datatype, Date or DateTime depending on your database date values.
    You will need to insert the following logic into your select expert:
    {Database.DateField} <= {?End Date Parameter} and
    {Database.DateField >= {?Start Date Parameter}
    This should give you everything in between.
    I hope this helps.

    Zack H.

  • Querying Data from 3rd Party System

    We would like to query data from a 3rd party (non-SAP) system.  Our BW is an MSSQL DB and the 3rd party is also an MSSQL DB.  We do not want to physically load the data from the external system we just want to use the BW query tools to display the data.
    Is this possible?  I thought this is what a Remote Cube would be used for but SAP's instructions on Remote Cubes are vague and confusing.
           1.      In BW, create a source system for the external system that you want to use.
           2.      Define the required InfoObjects.
           3.      Load the master data:
    ·        Create a master data InfoSource for each characteristic
    ·        Load texts and attributes
           4.      Define the RemoteCube
           5.      Define the queries based on the RemoteCube

    Hi Jon,
    SAP RemoteCube is an InfoProvider. This is a special RemoteCube that allows
    you to define queries with direct access to transaction data in other SAP systems. SAP RemoteCubes are defined on the basis of an InfoSource with flexible updating, and assume the characteristics and key figures of the InfoSource.
    Use/Data Flow
    Unlike with other RemoteCubes, it is not necessary to program extractors. The
    same extractors are used to select data in the source system that are also used when replicating data into the BW. When executing a query, each navigation step sends a request to the extractors for the assigned source systems. In addition, characteristics selection and selection criteria for these characteristics are transformed to fields in the transfer structure, in accordance with the transfer rules. They are transferred to the  extractor in this form. The delivered datasets run through the transfer rules in BW and are filtered once again in the query.
    In your case Remote cube can be an option .
    Cheers
    Raja

  • Extra column in BW query data?

    I'm getting an extra blank column in my BW query data that does not show in data preview mode.  I'm expecting data, based on the preview to look like this:
    CCtr   Yr    Amt   Qty
    375   2010   10     10
    But getting instead:
    CCtr   Yr    Blank    Amt   Qty
    375   2010              10      10
    I'm sure there is probably a workaround for this, but it seems like a bug.  Anyone else experiencing this with the "direct" connection to BW query?
    I'm on Xcelsius 5.3.4.0, Build 12,3,4,1038.  BW 7.01 SP6.
    Thanks,
    Brian Aldrich

    Thanks all-
    Turns out that this was an issue caused by a scaling factor in one of the columns in the BW query.  I had the amount scaled to thousands and the query relusts were putting a "*1000" every so many rows in the data...in the column that was (mostly) blank.  It placed that text every 6 or so rows.  This did not show in the query in BW or the data preview feature in Xcelsius.  Since my initial data retrieval was 5 rows, I didn't see this, but when I brought in a larger number of rows, it showed up.
    I turned the scaling factor off in the query to resolve the issue.
    Cheers,
    Brian
    P.S.  Someone in another thread suggested adding a spreadsheet table to the canvas to help with data preview...this was a huge help in finding the issue.  Highly recommended!

    Hi all,
    I wanna get the value of the formula variables during the query runtime into a text variable.
    My scenario is like this: First I defined a formula variable Z_DATE_3 which is processing by replacement. It will get the day of a characteristcs(Startdate).
    Then I defined a text variable and in the function module related to this text variable, I used the parameter I_T_VAR_RANGE which can store the value of formula variable during the query runtime.So I can read the value from this table in my function module.
    But I have a issue, when I run the query which used the defined text variable, it seems that it doesn't call the corresponding function module. Because I set a breadpoint in hte code and it never reach this breakpoint.
    If I removed the parameter I_T_VAR_RANGE , it can enter the function module.
    So could you please give some advice?
    Is my solution correct or not?
    And what's wrong with the parameter I_T_VAR_RANGE? Did I use it correctly?
    And My code is:
    DATA:  l_s_range_v TYPE rrrangeexit,
                 l_day type sy-datum.
    if i_step <> 2.
    raise no_processing.
    endif.
      READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO l_s_range_v
         WITH KEY  vnam = 'Z_DATE_3'.
    if sy-subrc = 0.
         l_day = l_s_range_v-low.
    endif.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards
    Fanchest

    Hi, Fanchest,
    I'm having just the same issue.  Did you find a solution?
    I wrote a short routine in CMOD to derive the value of a formula variable to a text variable, but it's not working (I don't get any value).  Can you share your solution?
    Thanks in advance,

  • InfoProvider: infoObject (master data attribute and text)

    I saw info Object of master data attribute and text in InfoProvider.
    are infoObject act like a table when we do query on them.

    Hi
    Refer to this as down
    Custome Infoobjects Tabels:
    /BIC/M -- View of Master data Tables
    /BIC/P -- Master data Table, Time Independent attributes
    /BIC/Q -- Master data Table, Time Dependent attributes
    /BIC/X -- SID Table, Time Independent
    /BIC/Y -- SID Tabel, Time Dependent
    /BIC/T -- Text Table
    /BIC/H -- Heirarchy Table
    /BIC/K -- Heirarchy SID Table
    Standard Infoobjects Tabels(Buss. Content):
    Replace "C" with "0" in above tables.
    Ex: /BI0/M -- View of Master data Tables

  • Master data attr./text/hier. loading

    According to best practice for Headcount and Personnel Actions( 0PA_C01), we have to do several process after infocube activation. e.g. active Query, query view, and loading transaction data.
    The question is when should we load master data attr./text/hier. ? Why does SAP do not put it on the best practice document?

    Hi,
    You should always load Master data before transactional data. This helps in loading transactional data faster as the SID tables are already populated once you load the master data and helps master data load performance. Make sure that the loaded master data is followed by an attribute change run always as if this step is not executed, the loaded master data will not take effect.
    Also in terms of reporting, if any users are accessing the queries and master data is missing at that point of time (might be loaded later), then the reports for those characteristics are going to show up as # (not assigned) and make no sense for reporting.
    If the referential integrity box is checked during transactional data load, the loads will fail if relevant master data is not loaded first.
    So, always load master data first, followed by attribute change run and then load the transactional data.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • How to load Test data from a Text file in ECATT

    Hi,
    I have created a test configuration with a test script, system data container, and test data container.
    I have done the recording of a transaction and created the script. Parameterization is done for the script and have imported those parameters from script in to the data container.
    I am trying to load a the data from a text file on the local work-station. The data is not being read.
    Please explain this in detail (step by step) as I am very new to ECATT.
    I am trying this on SAP ECC 6.0 IDES server.
    Thanks in Advance
