Question about Exception stack

Hello,
I get the following exception stack and it is not the first time that I get this "ClassName.<init>".
What does the "init" mean?
Thanks in advance,
Balteo.
oracle.xquery.XQException:  Too many arguments for function compare
     [java]      at oracle.xquery.PreparedXQuery.<init>(PreparedXQuery.java:63)
     [java]      at oracle.xquery.XQueryContext.prepareXQuery(XQueryContext.java:140)
     [java]      at com.agilience.sharenet.app.sgbdo.PPersistenceOracle.executeQuery(PPersistenceOracle.java:214)
     [java]      at com.agilience.sharenet.app.sgbdo.PPersistenceOracle.getAnonymousId(PPersistenceOracle.java:369)
     [java]      at com.agilience.sharenet.app.bl.persistence.PPersistenceModel.getAnonymousId(PPersistenceModel.java:112)

When an exception occurs inside the constructor for the class, the stack trace refers to the constructor as <init>. <init> is the internal name that java uses to refer to constructors for a class.

  • Few questions about 3750X stack switch

    Dear,
    I have just joined this helpful community. Since I am still a newbie, it is my hope to comprehend through our discussions. I would like to ask few questions about 3750X stack switch:
    What kind of switches are considered as provisioned switch?
    What is the purpose of using provision switch?
    Which advantages does a provision switch provide? If we don't use provision feature, what would be happened?
    Thank you very much. Look forward to reading your replies.

    Ivan's reference provides the details, but in real world where provisioned switches are nice include: if a switch member fails, that's switch member's configuration is still present and can be used on a like model replacement.
    Also:  for new stack members, being able to provision the new switch stack, before you add it to the stack, save a little time when you add the stack member to the stack.  I.e. you can provision the stack member ahead of time, and then when you add the stack member, as soon as it joins the stack, it has the desired configuration.

  • Question about creating Stack!!

    Can someone please help me....I need help on creating a stack..I don't understand the whole point of stack..I help on how to this question...please show me how to start this question..
    You are to implement a class called Stack using arrays as internal storage mechanisms . Note well, you cannot use the java Stack class. You are to implement the following instance methods (interfaces are provided below)....etc

    It sounds to me as if you need to understand the nature of a stack before you go about implementing it. Use http://www.google.com and search for "stack data structure java". There are a number of good references available there.

  • Question about 3750 stack

    Hi,
    I have 3 3750 switches: WS-C3750G-12S-S, WS-C3750G-16TD, WS-C3750G-16TD.
    They are connected via Stack Cable in half-duplex mode.
    I have a 10GE module(X2-10GB-LR=) on WS-C3750G-16TD.
    the bandwidth of the logical switch should be 32Gbps. My question is about oversubscribe. totally there are 44 Giga ports. how these 44 Giga ports and 1 10Giga port share this 32Gbps? And what's mean half-duplex for stack mode?
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Sha

    Hello Sha,
    this might not directly answer your question, but the way I understand the StackWise technology is that the switches in the stack form a logical ring, with a maximum backplane throughput of 32Gbps, as you already said. Each packet on each switch is load-balanced across the ring. The ring/backplane supports 32Gbps max, if you have more ingress bandwidth than that, the 32Gbps will still be the limit.
    I found this article, which explains some of the issues, you might want to have a look at it:

  • Question about Exception Error

    I'm writing a small PBE program for a class project and I keep getting an InvalidKeySpecException that claims my char[ ] is not ASCII. Now I am under the impression that when a char value is entered it's in ASCII values... I've only put up a piece of my code, if needed I can put up the rest, it's fairly simple and easy to follow.
    here is my terminal output (with a number of debug outputs):

    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    }And now it works.
    I don't know exactly why your "one char at a time from System.in" bugged me, and I don't know exactly why it didn't work - but that was the problem.

  • Question about exceptions in function module GUI_DOWNLOAD

    To all,
    I add the function module 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' in the ABAP report program. After the user download the data to excel, the program also displays a report on the screen for print output.
    If the user keep the excel file open and tries to replace the file on download, the program gives an error message 'Access to file denied' and the program ends without displaying a report on the screen.
    Is there any way not to end the program even if download is failed?
    I would like the program displays a report after it gives an error message.
    So I am trying to use exceptions. But if I code to give messages, the programs ends as above. And if I just make exit when it happens, no error message and the program displays a report but the user don't know if the excel file was updated or not.
    Could anybody kindly let me know how to code exceptions and messages if it is possible the program works I hope.
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Best regards,
    Miki Komatsu

     I figured out how to do that.
      Thanks.

  • Question about Exception!

    class A
    public void f() throws Myexcption
    class B extends A
    public void f() throws [Myexception][devied exception from Myexception]
    Why B.f() can only throw less exceptions than A.f()?
    if A temp = new B();
    temp.f() will perform the B.f()'s defination. And if I defined B.f() as
    public void f() throws AnotherException
    throw AnotherException;
    It will has nothing to do with A.f().
    Why did the designer design the less exception throwwing rules?
    Thanks

    class MyFirstException extends Exception {}
    class MySecondException extends MyFirstException {}
    class A {
      public void f() throws MyFirstException { ... }
    class B extends A {
      public void f() throws MySecondException { ... }
    Why B.f() can only throw less exceptions than A.f()?The reason is one of decoupling. If you write code to the contract of A but are actually using an instance of B and the compiler allowed new exceptions to be thrown (not inheriting from the exceptions declared on the original contract) - you would have no way of knowing which other exceptions you must catch. Therefore by enforcing that an overriding method must throw only exceptions within the inheritance hierarchy of the original contract you can be certain to have caught all possible exceptions.
    EG
    A a = new B();
    try {
      a.f();
    } catch(MyFirstException e) { ... }--

  • Simple questions about exceptions

    why use try catch with new File("filename") but not with x??

    ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException is unchecked.
    IOException is checked.
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/exceptions/index.html
    Here's a quick overview of exceptions:
    The base class for all exceptions is Throwable. Java provides Exception and Error that extend Throwable. RuntimeException (and many others) extend Exception.
    RuntimeException and its descendants, and Error and its descendants, are called unchecked exceptions. Everything else is a checked exception.
    If your method, or any method it calls, can throw a checked exception, then your method must either catch that exception, or declare that your method throws that exception. This way, when I call your method, I know at compile time what can possibly go wrong and I can decide whether to handle it or just bubble it up to my caller. Catching a given exception also catches all that exception's descendants. Declaring that you throw a given exception means that you might throw that exception or any of its descendants.
    Unchecked exceptions (RuntimeException, Error, and their descendants) are not subject to those restrictions. Any method can throw any unchecked exception at any time without declaring it. This is because unchecked exceptions are either the sign of a coding error (RuntimeException), which is totally preventable and should be fixed rather than handled by the code that encounters it, or a problem in the VM, which in general can not be predicted or handled.

  • Question about Stacking

    Hello Everyone,
    I have a quick question about stackwise plus technology. I would like to confirm that there is no redundancy at the ethernet switch port in terms of a physical problem. The reason I ask is that we are deploying stacked switches shortly to ensure high availability but curious to know whether anyone has seen issues with physical ports failing and not the chassis/PSUs. I understand that Etherchannels can be used but we have security cameras that cannot suffer any outages and would be connected to a single port on the stack. I'm guessing that my option is to monitor the Switch Ports statistics via SNMP and move the camera to another port if this ever happens.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers.

    Sure, ports can fail without the whole switch failing, but edge redundancy, such as using dual links (often configured as a bundled channel), between the host and two stack members addresses both switch port failure and stack member failure.
    Unless your security cameras support dual links, your going to have a single point of failure at the edge port.
    Next best options, as you've already noted, would be to have, on-line, "warm" spare ports that you can quickly repatch into.  Ideally you have enough spare ports to allowing repatching in case a whole switch member fails.
    (BTW, when you have spare ports, you don't have to set aside a whole stack member, sitting empty.  For example, instead of having a dual stack with only one switch member populated, and the other not at all, split the populated ports across both stack members.  That way, if a stack member fails, you don't lose all your hosts, only half.  [With cameras, depending on their views, you might be able to overlap their coverage across multiple stack member.])

  • Some generic  questions about JMF

    Hi, as new to JMF, I would like to ask some generic questions about JMF from this community
    Though including RTP stack, JMF is only compatible to old RTP draft, RFC1889. I know that Sun stopped developing/supporting JMF. What is the alternative solution for JAVA RTP implementation suitable for a serious SERVER project, not just a school-term project? Has anyone thought about that or may have already moved forward? Is that any commercial or more updated Java based RTP stack currently? I searched with google. Besides jrtp, a school project, and I could not find a nice one. Majority of RTPstack implementation is C/C++.
    My second question is if there is the performance analysis and comparison of JMF. I know that some client applications such as SIP-Communicator adopt JMF for media delivery. But it is for one user in one machine. I wonder if any server application has adopt JMF as media relaying layer.
    I appreciate any input from this community.

It's obviously not from Sun, but it's the only other RTP-capable project I am aware of, other than FOBS4Java, I believe is the name of it.

  • Question about document/literal web service

    Hello every body.
    I have some question about document/literal web service.
    I’ve been working with Axis before.
    Axis has four valid signatures for your message-style service methods:
    public Element [] method(Element [] bodies);
    public SOAPBodyElement [] method (SOAPBodyElement [] bodies);
    public Document method(Document body);
    public void method(SOAPEnvelope req, SOAPEnvelope resp);
    The same I am trying to do with WebLogic API for webservices.
    But when I am trying to test web service (public Document method (Document body); )
    I have serialized exceptions for org.w3c.dom.Document.
    Do I have to write a custom class for org.w3c.dom.Document serialization?
    If yes can you give me some idea or example?
    The all idea behind this web service is. I have just one web service and mane classes for XML processing. Depends what xml document will be during runtime, web service will be using different class for xml processing. It works fine with Axis, but in case of WebLogic I have some problem.
    One more question… How I have to call this web service from java client?
    I have seen this example http://www.manojc.com/?sample31 ,
    but this web service looks like (Document helloDom()). I need to send Document.
    This example works for Dynamic Proxy, but does not work for static call.
    Any ideas?? Thank in advance.

  • Question about scope!!

    Hi ~
    I have a question about scope.
    for example
    primitive character variable ("char")
    what is principle upon which it is based?
    How can scope implemented?
    Please explain at low level in detail..
    thanks

    Scopes are related to braces (and the for+catch-statements).
    Inside a function nested scopes of the same name are forbidden {int x; {int x; ... } ...}, as misunderstanding could arise.
    You may mention a name (method name, class name, var name), before its declaration, like:
    int f() {x = 3;} int x;Implementation issues address variable locations on the stack and heap management (garbage collection), and exceptions (stack unwinding).
    If you are interested in compiler construction try the javap tool, and try out the JVM, by for instance writing a compiler to JVM byte code.
    To answer your question on variable clean-up: I'm afraid while playing compiler you need to calculate var addresses/frame sizes, and calls/stack frames are a bit confusing, but the rest is easy.

  • Question about open and close of MySqlConnection

      MySqlConnection connection = newMySqlConnection(stringConnection);
                    MySqlCommand cmd = connection.CreateCommand();
                    connection.Open(); and i have a try catch. accoding to your opinion, i should put  connection.Close() in the block of try,or outside of block of try? according to you,if i open the connection and do not close,is it bad?or i open 2 times(using different istancse,like connection1 and connecton2),is it ok? thank u very muchbest regardsmartin

    This code will work in tests. But it will propably fail in a production environment. You don't even close the connection and that is bad enough. This is how you should never,
    EVER work with disposeable objects!
    try
    MySqlConnection connectionLev = newMySqlConnection("server=P30LSIMUL;user id=root;database=cncp20l");
    MySqlCommand cmd = connectionLev.CreateCommand();
    connectionLev.Open();
    Console.WriteLine("OK");
    catch (Exception ex)
    Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
    try
    MySqlConnection connectionLev = newMySqlConnection("server=P30LSIMUL;user id=root;database=cncp20l");
    MySqlCommand cmd = connectionLev.CreateCommand();
    connectionLev.Open();
    Console.WriteLine("OK");
    catch (Exception ex)
    Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
    If code like that runs in any production environment, you are about to get fired.
    From a catapult.
    SqlConnections implement Finalize so when the GC does collect them, they will be properly closed. That can be anywhere between "milisccond the reference vanishes" and "the programm is closed after 100 years of the computer running without
    a hitch and reboot."
    Put one of those blocks (or both) into a loop that runs 100 times and you will run out of avalible SQL conenctions.
    Since you alraedy have a try...catch block, just use the construct that Magnus showed you:
    Put the variable outside of the try (so finalize can access it). Check for null (in case an exception happened before/during the creation, not during the use of it) then Dispose.
    Note that finalize is even run after the function it is contained in returns (about the only code that can still run then). And that you should always log/expose ex.ToString(), never only the message (that one contains only 5% of the information, the otehr
    95% are much more important).
