Question on component cache

I have built a component that wraps a standard button component. Based on some criteria, it enables/disables the button it wraps.
In my JSP A.jsp,
<s:myComp userName="">
<h:commandButton disabled=false>
</hx:commandExButton>
</s:myComp
In the encodeChildren method of my custom component,
if( component instanceof HtmlCommandExButton ) {
if( some condtion) {
System.out.println(" Is button disabled "+ ((HtmlCommandExButton)component).isDisabled);
//If button is enabled, disable it.
((HtmlCommandExButton)component).setDisabled(true);
Scenario:
1) I go to page A. My custom component disables the button by calling setDisabled method
2) I go to a different page and then come back to page A in the same session
3) My custom component reads the button's disabled property as true even though the disalbed is set to false in the JSP.
At step 3, I guess it gets the button component from the component tree cache. I have a few questions.
1) Is it a good idea to modify the properties of the enclosing components ?
2) How can I make my component read the real data instead of the cached data for the the enclosing components ?
3) Is it possible to evaluate the expression bound to disabled property to get the correct value ?

Hi RaymondDeCampo
Thanks for the reply. I am not holding the component in the session. It is actually the custom component's encodeChildren method where the child component is passed to it (In my case it is the button). First time when I visit the page, custom component reads the attributes of the child component and modifies them but the modified values will be retained even if I navigate around and come back to the same page.
HOw can I force JSF to get a fresh instance of the component ?
I am using IBM JSF1.1

  • Questions on OBIEE Cache maintenance

    Hi Experts,
    I have few questions regarding the OBIEE cache.
    1. How to clean the cache ? Is there any method to clean the cache using Unix scripts.
    2. Is there any way to call an unix script using the iBots ?
    Thanks in Advance.
    svr

    Hy,
    To purge the cache, you have several way :
    http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/bi_server/cache/obiee_purging_query_cache
    The classic way is to use the ODBC function :
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12103_01/books/admintool/admintool_QueryCaching6.html
    And to insert them in a script :
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12096_01/books/AnySched/AnySched_Scripts2.html
    That you can call with the job Manager.
    Cheers
    Nico

  • Audio out options question - HDMI + component?

    I have looked thru the manual and forums, but have not seen the answer to my question.
    If I hook an ATV to my TV with HDMI, and also use the Right and Left (red and white component) audio out cables to my stereo (which does not have TOS link digital audio capability), will I get sound delivered to BOTH units at the same time? Basically, I'd like sound to go to my TV and my stereo.
    I see in the ATV manual that it is possible to use HDMI and digital audio out. DVI video and component audio out, but I need HDMI video/audio AND component audio out.

    The easiest way to accomplish this is to use the HDMI cable from the ATV to the TV and then export the sound from the TV with with either RCA, toslink, or digital audio out cables to your stereo. That is what I do at home. I have a DVR cable box, DVD player, and PS3 Blue Ray player and a HD video camera all hooked up via HDMI to a HDMI hub to the TV and then I can switch the stereo from either the TV audio out (all of the above) or the airport express where I stream music to the Stereo. There is no doubt that the sound quality from the BR HDMI cable of the PS3 has a superior sound.
    A tech at curcuit city told me there is a difference in sound between, a expensive Monster HDMI cable and the less expensive cables now available on line, but I have not tried a A/B comparison yet, but am planing to do so. $50-60$ vrs. a few dollars on line aftermarket.
    Hope this helps.

  • Question about the cache

    So I never really worried or cleared the cache in the past year on this computer. I occasionally cleared the cookies from time to time, but I never let Firefox clear cache or cookies due to me wanting to have some passwords saved on some sites and automatically log me in. But yesterday, I had a weird problem with the Frozen movie website (site is movies.disney.com/frozen). Whenever I clicked it, it was just a skinny image in the center of the screen with the drop down men to navigate to different sections, as opposed to the nicely designed website you'll get if you go there right now. I was wondering why the site looked like this on my computer, yet on all the other computers and tablets in the household, the site looked as it should.
    So I decided to clear my cookies. That didn't help. Restarted computer. Didn't help. And finally I decided to clear the Firefox cache. That fixed the problem, and the site went back to normal. So my first question is, why did this fix the site? What was in the cache to cause the site to do this?
    Also, after clearing my cache there the Cached Web Content was only using 1kb of disk space. Now, after almost a day, it is up to 230mb of disk space. Does this affect my computer in a massive way, or is the 250mb a small amount? And is it normal for the Web Content Cache to increase each time I open Firefox? And why does the amount of cached content keep rising so drastically? When I cleared it yesterday, I believe the cache was only using 351mb of disk space after only a year.
    Last question is, can I have Firefox clear the cache when I close it without also clearing cookies, or do I have to clear both to make it work?

    Hi,
    First, Frozen's song "Let it Go" has been stuck in my head all week <3.
    Second your questions:
    "So my first question is, why did this fix the site? What was in the cache to cause the site to do this?"
    Depending on the server request the cache will check to see if the content has been modified. And there is sometimes an expiration date set in the cache to save network capacity use. You can check this out in the Network logging if you open up a Web Console.
    "Also, after clearing my cache there the Cached Web Content was only using 1kb of disk space. Now, after almost a day, it is up to 230mb of disk space. Does this affect my computer in a massive way, or is the 250mb a small amount?"
    Generally this is a pretty small amount, as the defualt cache size is 359400 bytes.
    "And is it normal for the Web Content Cache to increase each time I open Firefox?" The cache will load from a file when you open Firefox. This is normally stored in a file inside of the Profile Folder.
    "And why does the amount of cached content keep rising so drastically?"
    It should never go over the set limit in the about:config page for cache disk capacity.
    "Last question is, can I have Firefox clear the cache when I close it without also clearing cookies, or do I have to clear both to make it work?"
    It is possible to set the Firefox setting History to not remember any history. This will clear the history cache.
    I hope this helps.

  • Question regarding palcing cache related classes into a package

    Hi all,
    I have a question regarding placing classes into packages. Actually I am writing cache feature which caches the results which were evaluated previously. Since it is a cache, I don't want to expose it outside because it is only for internal purpose. I have 10 classes related to this cache feature. All of them are used by cache manager (the manager class which manages cache) only. So I thought it would make sense if I keep all the classes into a separate package.
    But the problem I have is, since the cache related classes are not exposed outside so I can't make them public. If they are not public I can't access them in the other packages of my code. I can't either make it public or private. Can someone suggest a solution for my problem?

    As far as I understand, the only class that other code needs to access is the cache manager. That one must be public. All other classes can be package-private (a.k.a default access). This way they can access each other and the cache manager can access them, but other code can't.

  • Newbie question about component and UDF usage.

    This will be the 1st time I'm coding a component and UDF. I
    kind of understand the concept but not sure about how to write it
    in detail.Such as passing the parameter, etc.
    I'm starting to write a user login, verifying users before
    allowing them to enter into the app.
    So I have 2 fields in my login form, Login and password.
    Upon submitting this form, on the actionpage.cfm I'm calling
    a component. This is how I call the component:
    <CFINVOKE Component="cfc/loginaction"
    Method="AuthentiCateUser" ReturnVariable="UserInfo">
    Then in my Component I have the following:
    <CFCOMPONENT>
    <CFFUNCTION Name="AuthentiCateUser" RETURNTYPE="Query"
    hint="Use for user login">
    <CFARGUMENT Name="login" Type="Structure"
    Required="true">
    <CFARGUMENT Name="password" Type="Structure"
    Required="true">
    <!--- checking user authentication --->
    <CFQUERY NAME="Authenticate" DATASOURCE="sendfast">
    SELECT * FROM tblcustomer WHERE Login = '#Login#' AND
    Password = '#Password#'
    </CFQUERY>
    <CFRETURN AuthentiCateUser>
    </CFFUNCTION>
    </CFCOMPONENT>
    When I run this code, I got error, it said :
    The parameter LOGIN to function AuthentiCateUser is required
    but was not passed in.
    The error occurred in
    C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\KDt_Mod\userloginaction.cfm: line 18
    16 : <CFSET
    UserLoginInfo["Password"]="#Form.Password#"> 17 : 18 :
    <CFINVOKE Component="cfc/loginaction" Method="AuthentiCateUser"
    ReturnVariable="UserInfo">
    19 :
    My question is:
    What should I do in order to pass #Form.Login# and
    #Form.Password# to my UDF within my component?
    I'm using CFMX 6 and Micrisift SQL 8

    I've applied cfinvokeargument and my login and password were
    passed to my component.
    But I'm facing new problem: Where should I write my
    authentication? should I write user authentication within my
    component or
    loginaction.cfm (the calling template)
    What I mean by authentication is something like this:
    <CFIF #Authenticate.RecordCount# IS NOT 0>
    <cfset session.CustomerID
    ="#Authenticate.customerid#">
    <cfset session.Name ="#Authenticate.Name#">
    <CFCOOKIE NAME="UserLoginIn"
    VALUE="12345_pn#Authenticate.customerid#">
    <cflocation url="index.cfm?loc=home">
    <CFELSE>
    <script language="JavaScript">
    alert("Username/password is not found, plese try again");
    history.go(-1);
    </script>
    <cfabort>
    </CFIF>
    If I keep this code in my loginaction.cfm what is returned
    from my function is not recognized by the component, the error said
    Authenticate.RecordCount is not recognized.
    Also I'm still confuse with what should I put in the
    RETURNTYPE. If I put query, it gave me error, also, what is
    returned by CFRETURN.
    This is my component:
    <CFCOMPONENT>
    <CFFUNCTION Name="AuthentiCateUser" RETURNTYPE="Query"
    hint="Use for user login">
    <CFARGUMENT Name="login" Type="Structure"
    Required="true">
    <CFARGUMENT Name="password" Type="Structure"
    Required="true">
    <!--- checking user authentication --->
    <CFQUERY NAME="Authenticate" DATASOURCE="sendfast">
    SELECT * FROM tblcustomer WHERE Login = '#Login#' AND
    Password = '#Password#'
    </CFQUERY>
    <CFRETURN AuthentiCateUser>
    </CFFUNCTION>
    </CFCOMPONENT>

  • A question on component design in Web Dynpro

    Hi experts,
    We currently working on our console which we want to implement them using Web Dynpro framework.
    During design time,  questions have been raised: we have like 100 EJB methods for our application, about 8 EJBs, we want to have faceless component taking care of persistence.
    The question is what is the best way to distribute the methods in terms of performance and supportability (for ease of development )? We discussed the following options:
    1.     One faceless component with one component controller implements 100 methods (maybe this is the worst)
    2.     Many faceless components, one for each EJB, here the question came up: performance because we have a tab strip in the UI that accesses 6 EJBs, would it take a long time to load/unload these components every single time we switch among the tabs ?
    3.     One faceless component with one custom controller for each EJB, here the question is: can we expose the custom controller in other to use them in the tabs?  Compared to option 1 we clearly separated the methods, so it is easier to support. Furthermore we should have a performance gain since the custom controllers are only loaded on demand.
    What do you think?

    Hi
    Better to segregate the EJB's and put it in seperate controller keep atmost 30 in one controller (you have around 3-4 component ). Any component which is going to use in other component is basically based on create on demand priniciple automatically by framework.
    or
    as given in point third create a component , with say 8-10 Custom Controller  implement the all the methods and put a same method signature in Component Controller, call the same through interface thats it.

  • Question about Web Cache!

    I want to install another web server on the 9iAS machine. Can Web cache simultaneously support the Apache and the IIS??

    See no reason why not, but i would suggest that you should try the 'Web Cache and Database Cache Discussion Group', which is the more appropriate forum for the caching questions.

  • Security Questions are getting cached

    Hi,
    We recently discovered that our security authentication answers are frequently cached by web browsers. Is there something we can do on the server side to stop this? We have several public terminals used for claiming accounts and changing passwords, etc.. When a user loads the change user answers form, and starts to type in an answer, the form will try to auto-complete the answer, and display other similar answers that people have submitted.
    I tried setting the autocomplete property, but IDM does not support it on text fields it seems. I then changed the fields to html elements and modified them so their html output is the same as when they were text field objects. However, the form stopped working then. It no longer saves answers if I do that.
    How have people addressed this before? It seems like it would be a security concern for any IDM installation that has a public terminal available for changing passwords / etc..
    Thanks,
    Jim

    There are a few browser level settings I found that help. In firefox you can choose a setting that is title something like "Remember form fields and search bar entries". Making sure it is not checked will stop the auto complete. In IE there is a "Do not cache data from a secure connection" or something similar. That helps to. At the html level there is also an attribute for form elements called autocomplete. So you can set autocomplete=off for the elements.
    John, the form I am working with is security questions. The name of the fields are the IDs of the questions. So I can't really make them dynamic.
    The fix wasn't the greatest. IDM does not yet support the autocomplete attribute. When I manually added it to the text form field object, it generated an error when I viewed the form. When I changed the field object to an html object, and dictated the html, the workflow to save the answers stopped working. Ultimately I had to do a search and replace in the html in the JSP to add the autocomplete attribute.

  • Question relate to cache table?

    We plan to "cache" some tables to SGA or DB_keep_cache_size. some questions need to clarify:
    1. what different between:

    2. if I using either way to cache table, how to check table already "cache"?

  • Question on Component Model

    Dear Experts ,
    In an interview i faced a question, it is
    what is advantage public part for a component ?  if we  can use the visibility options of objects in a DC to acess ?
    i read a  blog on component model  which states that complie time dependencies can be redused , please throw some light on this concept .
    thanks in advance,
    Phani

    Hi Phani,
    This question belongs to the [NWDI forum|SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI);.
    Anyway, a public part allows you to expose an API (an interface if you like) of the component to other components. This will allow you to change internal logic of the methods and API you expose without having to change anything on the component that uses your public part.
    Complie time dependencies with a public part can be redused if it's access list states so.
    Hope it helps,
    Roy

  • Reentrant page question (dynamic component generation related).

    I am trying to build a test site where a question will be asked on a page then submitted, then the next question will show up on that same page then submitted, until all of the questions are answered.
    Since each question can have a variable number of answers, I decided to dynamicaly build the answer list as a group of radio buttons. The first time I come to the test page, everything works just fine. The question along with the radio buttons that correspond to the possible answers show up, but when the user hits submit, instead of the next question showing up, the same one continues to display every time.
    I verify that in the test page's constructor the next question is being loaded and the old components are cleared out before I rebuild them.
    The entire code in the test page's constructor looks something like this:
            Map testToQuestionMap = session.getTestNameToRandomizedAnswersListMap();
            String selectedTest = getSessionBean1().getSelectedTest();
            int    currentIndex = getSessionBean1().getCurrentQuestionIndex();
            List questionList = (List)testToQuestionMap.get(selectedTest);
            Question question = (Question)questionList.get(currentIndex);
            //Clean up the page
            questionGrid.getChildren().clear();
            //Ask the question
            StaticText questionText = new StaticText();
            questionText.setValue(question.getQuestion());
            questionGrid.getChildren().add(questionText);
            List answerList = question.getAnswerList();
            Iterator answerIter = answerList.iterator();
            while(answerIter.hasNext())
                RadioButton rb     = new RadioButton();
                String      answer = (String)answerIter.next();
                rb.setLabel(answer);
                rb.setName("RBG1");
                questionGrid.getChildren().add(rb);
        }So, what do you need to do to allow the same page to be updated dynamically each time it is called besides what I am already doing?
    Is it a caching thing maybe?

    Well, since no one knew how to do this, what I ended up doing was creating a second page and alternatiing between the original and that one for each question. Not the most elegant solution, but it does work.

  • Question on Mail cache

    In ~/Library/Caches/Mail there are scores of folders, sub folders and cache files.
    Some are over a year old. I intend deleting them, but why are these cache files being made and to what purpose are they used.
    I have a general understanding of caching being used to speed up repetitive tasks but I can't see what benefit is given to Mail to use cached data?
    Is this part of 'indexing' which sometimes flashes through when Mail is first opened and what disadvantage would occur if they were deleted?
    regards roam

    I delete the Mail Cache folder once a week.
    Do you? Since I emptied mine, over a week ago it has been dormant, that is, it has not cached anything. Perhaps this is because I have "Display images and embedded objects in HTML messages." turned off.
    As you say an empty cache is no problem.
    I was a bit wary of emptying it because of that sub-folder numbering system that is used for dating entries, the same as used in iPhoto. Anyway, all is well.
    I have a copy of Onyx. It is a nice app' but I don't use it.
    Thanks for your input.
    regards roam

  • [SOLVED] Question about Saving Cached Packages

    Hey Guys,
    I've got a couple of systems running Arch right now, and have a 3rd that I was thinking about setting up this weekend. The second of the 2 I already have is very recent and I haven't cleared out the package cache yet. If I were planning on installing the same applications on the next system, could I just save the package files in /var/cache/pacman to a CD or something and just copy them back to the new system once I have the CORE installed? I figure this would save an hour or so of downloading, which would be nice. If it is possible, is there anything else I need to have aside from the packages themselves (ie. is there like a header file somewhere)?
    Thanks!

    Well - it could work - or it might not. Better solution is to make another repository using your recent packages.
    Try to write this to your /etc/pacman.conf:
    [name_of_your_own_repo]
    Include = /path_to_your_own_repo
    I haven't tried it personally, but it should work. If it will prefer packages from other repos (community, extra), then write it somewhere above other repos in /etc/pacman.conf or use pacman -S name_of_your_own_repo/package
    You should read about Pacman at Arch-wiki to know more about making your own repository before you will decide to try it.
    Either way, write your experience here, please, I'd want to know if it works or not
