Quey is running very slow on system table in one of the database

Yup! Looks like a bug. Search MOS to see if it has been filed before and, if not, file an SR with Oracle.
If you really need the data (as opposed to just demonstrating a problem) then use a table expression like this
WITH q as (SELECT SEGMENT_NAME FROM DBA_LOBS L
                        WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'PS_PV_ATT_DB_SRV'
                      UNION ALL
                       SELECT INDEX_NAME FROM DBA_LOBS
                        WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'PS_PV_ATT_DB_SRV'
                      UNION ALL
                      SELECT TABLE_NAME FROM DBA_LOBS
                       WHERE TABLE_NAME ='PS_PV_ATT_DB_SRV'
select owner||'.'||segment_name Segment_name,
      bytes/(1024*1024) Size_MB,
      extents,
      round(initial_extent/(1024*1024),2) initial_MB,
      round(next_extent/(1024*1024),2) next_MB,
      PCT_INCREASE pct,
      min_extents||' - '||decode(max_extents,2147483645,'UNLIM',max_extents) min_max,
      segment_type type,
      tablespace_name
from dba_segments S where segment_name in (select segment_name from q)

This happened to my iMac a few months ago. Back-up your data then RUN, don't walk to your local Apple repair store, your internal hard drive is failing. They were not able to retrieve any data from the original hard drive; the fix was a new hard drive. I was told the hard drives are made to last 2-5 years. Mine was about 3 years. Good luck!

Using the Mac with your iPad has nothing to do with the fact that the iPad is running slow. There could be any number of reasons why the iPad is now running slow.
Have you tried a reset on the iPad?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • I upgraded the OS system on my 2011 mac mini.  It now runs very slow.  Do I need to increase the ram.  I only have 2 GB now.

My 2011 mac mini now runs very slow.  I have to wait on it to do basic things.  I only have 2 GB of ram.  It came with this amount and it fan fine for several years.  But I upgraded to the most recent Os system and now it runs slow.  What do I need?  More RAM?

I will upgrade to 8GB. Thanks for the advice.  Also have an older (2009) 24" IMAC and it also runs slow with the upgrade. It has 4 GB. I think I will replace it with a brand new 21 or 27 inch.  Thanks for the response.

That's one way to justify a new Mac. :-)  Adding more RAM to the 2009 model is cheaper, though (but I'm guessing not as much fun).

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages

              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Report run very slow because some user accessing the same report

    Dear All,
I group my table into 3 tablespace And some reports, accessing different tablespace (more than 1 table space). and these report will always be run by 5 user in the same time. and make it run very slow. Is it going to make the report very slow ? Please advice
    Thanks in advance
    Widhi

    Hi,
i hope that may not be the actual problem..
if ur report processing includes relatively high
amount of calculations on tables..then the report
    processing can be very slow...
In that case try to create a table to store ur calculations
temporarily and try to use that table in the report..

  • Order Import program run very slow

    Hi
I use Order Import program to create sale order from tables interface. But it run very slow, about two hours for one record.
How can i do it run fast?
    Thanks

    Hi,
before checking metalink for patches (there are some performance related patches for order entry)
you should check if statistics OE related tables
    - OE_HEADERS_IFACE_ALL,
    - OE_ORDER_HEADERS_ALL
    - OE_LINES_IFACE_ALL
    - OE_ORDER_LINES_ALL
are up to date (check column last_analyzed in dba_tables). If not, run gather schema statistics
program to collect current table statistics for OE schema.
If this does not help, have a look at metalink and query for "order import" "performance"...

  • My macbook pro started running very slow in the past few days

Don't know if freezes or run very slow, it always happen when i open the mac (i always leave it on sleep mode) it doesn't respond to anything and the cursor turns into the rainbow loading icon.
It takes like ten to twenty minutes to respond if i've clicked on safari or any aplication to open.
The solution i found to that was keep pressing the power button til the mac turn off  , restarting seemed to solve the problem but now it took like 30 minutes to restart, when always was like 5 minutes.
    What can i do?

If you get your machine running, you should immediatly copy off any personal data to a Storage Drive (no TimeMachine!) because your boot drive is failing.
    See emergency quick copy here
    Most commonly used backup methods
If you have a copy of your data off the machine, if your able too you can replace the drive yourself or if under AppleCare or warranty take it in for service.
Install/upgrade RAM or storage drive in Mac's
Since you've upgraded to 10.7 on that machine, you have to make a Recovery USB or borrow a friends machine andcopy theirs, perhaps Apple will let you get a copy.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
It's because Recovery HD is used to reinstall 10.7+ on a new boot drive. Newer machines have Internet Recovery.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
Or else fresh install 10.6 from your disks and then option click on Purchases to redownload and install 10.7

I am new to Mac and I dont know what to do, please help.

Completely uninstall the Kaspersky software AND MacKeeper. Both aren't necessary and can cause all kinds of issues.
Also check if Paragon and Virtualbox are up to date.

  • System running very slow

Hi guys hoping someone can help, my system seems to be running very slow once the iMac has been on for a while, programs take a long time to open and there seems to be a general lag on the whole system.
I have a lot of photos and movies on the drive so wasn't sure if this was not helping, also only have the standard 4GB ram and wondered if this could be the issue?
I also try not to have too much third party software on the iMac.
I have used EtreCheck so hopefully the issue may standout to someone a bit more computer minded that myself, thanks in advance Nucci.

Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

  • HT1338 Is there a Mac System Clean-up? My computer is running very slow and freeze all the times

I don't know why my computer is running very slow and keeps freezing all the times.  It would take at least 2-3 min to load up after the not using it for 5 min.  For instance when I type my paper or doing anything on the computer and leave for a fews min after come back it would not start and the icon keeps on spinning.
    Thanks

Pretty much all "clean-up" utilities will just make things worse.
You need to determine what it is that is causing the problem.
How much RAM do you have?
For the following, report what you get when the system is running slow and beachballing.
Open Activity Monitor (Utilities folder) and click on System Memory tab at the bottom of the screen. What does it say for Page Outs?
Also, at the top of the window, select All Processes. Click on the %CPU header until the arrow points down. Anything pop up at the top of the list that is using a very high percentage of CPU?
What you describe can be caused by incompatible third-party software. Boot into Safe mode and see if the problems still exist. Safe mode will be a little slower than normal, but you shouldn't see the system freeze up.

  • System Suddenly Running Very Slow

    Hi All,
For some reason recently my iMac has started running extremely slow. Had an issue with Photoshop (my fault) and so reset Photoshop. I noticed after that working with a fairly large file in Photoshop in adding an effect when the effects window was open above the Photoshop file I was working on the text/graphics would disappear or appear to be wiped away if I moved the effects window over the open Photoshop file. Put it down to the fact that the file was large and my Mac was having difficulty with it. However since then I am now sure it's something worse. Playing a high def quicktime video with another open app causes the beach ball. Also opening Final Cut now takes ages and today a warning kept popping up saying out of memory when I was only playing an audio track in the time line with no video. Final cut windows also seem to have elements missing as what happened in Photoshop. I am running Onyx at the moment to see if it helps but I'm concerned. Permissions have been repaired a number times since then. I have also reset the Pram and SMC after this problem started. This was for another issue which is my iSight which stopped working a few months after getting my Mac. Was hoping things might change but oh well. Checked sys profiler and everything seems to be ok RAM/Hard drive etc. Even ran Tech tool to check the drive and all ok. Please help! Really worried as this is my work comp. Just a note, I'm running iStat and the CPU's don't seem to be overstrained in any way nor the temp overly high however the dual cores seem to run 1 at a time rather than sharing the load. Can't remember if that was the norm.

You may have to increase the amount of chip RAM installed in the Mac.
That is faster than VM swap temp files to/from the hard disk drive and
would be used by higher functions, in addition to the virtual memory.
Depending on the model of computer, the RAM may be upgraded to
a higher total than 4GB. There also may be a need to check/test the
computer to see what other underlying issues could cause the problem.
A 'suddenly running very slow' outside of the demands of photoshop,
could point to some other kind of problem; troubleshooting may help
locate the source. Console logs from the time interval these issues
appeared to gain predominance should be looked into.
There also may be some larger temporary files not appearing to take
up free-space; but they may be holding back memory, in caches. In
some instances, a restart into SafeBoot, and repair disk permissions
could help, then restart normally. Or just the suggested re-start...
    Good luck & happy computing!
