Quick system at a glance report - how.

Question

The nature of this question revolves around the "Performance" report in "Microsoft Generic Report Library"
Scenario: A manager comes by my desk and says "Hey, can you tell me what the drive space has been like on server {x} for the past month?".
I go to the reports section, and click on "Microsoft Generic Report Library" and then on "Performance"
I follow the normal steps to create a report but the report is completely blank.  Reading the description of the report, I see that no performance data will show unless group is selected.
So, if I add that server to a group which only contains that server, then the report will show the data... ok.
But when a manager comes by my desk and says "show me for the last month" I first have to go into the authoring tab and then add that server to the group and then go to the reporting tab and then create the report...
Is there no simpler way of getting that data?  I'd like a report which I just add the server name in at one spot and then create the graphs based upon the criteria I selected.  This thing of having to add the computer to a group first is kind of
strange isn't it?  Is there some other way of generating performance data (besides going to the monitoring tab, because that only shows the past 7 days and I don't want to modify that time range because of database constraints).

Try the following
1) Microsoft Generic Report Library --> Performance
2) Create a new series with rule "Logical disk Free megabytes Windows Server 2012" for windows server 2012 and " Logical disk Free Megabyte 2008" for windows Server 2008
3) Select the object, not group, with object name contains ":'. You can see all logical disk and you can select the HD which you want to display the free disk space. e.g. If I want to see XYZ.nwtraders.com c: free space, i should select object, c:, with path
XYZ.nwtraders.com
4) Cofigure the time period
5) you can Save this report to favorites
6) Next time if you boss want to show c: drive of  TTT.nwtraders.com
7) Open the Favorites Report
8) Click View --> Parameters
9) click change
10) Click Remove
11) Click Add object
12) Searach object c: with path TTT.nwtraders.com
