  • If I delete docs from iCloud off of iPhone 4s, will it delete it from the iCloud in general? aka will I still be able to pull up from my MAC?

If I delete specific documents and data from my phone, using my phone b/c its staying icloud storage is full & my phone is freezing up....will it actually delete the docs from icloud so that when I use my MAC, they will be gone as well?  Not sure if it is deleting from phone or iCloud for computer too.
Also, I don't want documents on my phone - when I save them from computer to iCloud, it seems to go there anyway & take up storage I need to run phone.
    argh
thanks for help, I am horrible with technology so excuse my basic questions

What I mean is still track my stolen one. I don't know if this will make sense to you but I'm thinking that if I restore the back up data on this phone..on my stolen phone it will like forget the icloud account or something and think this phone is the stolen one so when I go to track the stolen one, it will show that phone as the one I have now because I restored the back up from that phone.

  • Is there a way to create a batch export of pages docs from iCloud?

I have been using Pages pretty much exclusively for the past couple of years. The new, crippled version has put an end to that.  But I have about 1000 docs in iCloud that I need to get out of iCloud an onto to some usable platform like Goggle Docs (which does seem to keep improving, unlike iWork). I suspect that Automator or Applescript may be able to do this, but I'd appreciate any pointers.

If you synchronize Notes with iCloud, open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Notes. If you sync Notes with another mail service, disable that in the Internet Accounts or Mail, Contacts & Calendars preference pane. You may be warned that notes stored on the server will be deleted. If you trust your backups, confirm. Leave the window open.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.apple.Notes" selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash, then restore it from a backup that predates the unwanted change. If you back up with Time Machine, enter it and select the snapshot from which you want to restore.
Log out or restart and empty the Trash.
Re-enable synchronization in System Preferences, if you disabled it.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Ipad (OS 5.1.1) using pages incompatible with icloud.  If I open up one of the docs from icloud, I can no longer open it on my ipad.  Looks like the pages version gets updated to a version that is incompatible with my ipad.

I have the original ipad (OS 5.1.1) using pages 1.7.2 and backing up to icloud.  If I open up one of the docs from icloud, I can no longer open it on my ipad.  Looks like the pages version gets updated to a version that is incompatible with my ipad.  Is there anyway stopping icloud from changing the version and is there a way to recover the old version of the document on my ipad?

Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.
    $19.99 - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

  • HT204394 how do i put microsoft word docs onto icloud

how do i put microsoft word docs onto icloud so that i can transfer to my mac book

    Not really.
You can sign into iCloud.com from a web browser on your PC.
Open Pages and drag the Word document in or click the Gear on the top right and upload.
This will convert it to a Pages document. It will be accessible to you through iCloud and the Pages app on your iOS devices. You can always redownload the file from iCloud as a Word document.
As with any document conversion, this may alter the formatting.

  • HT4847 how do i transfer my docs to icloud, does it work like a dropbox

how do i transfer my docs to icloud, does it work like a dropbox

You can only transfer iWork documents at present, and only if you have an iOS device with ate least one of the iWork apps on it; in which case you go to the iCloud website, to the iWork page, and drag the documents there. It's not intended for backup, or syncing between Macs, only for allowing your iOS device to edit your documents.
iCloud does not offer general file storage: for that you will need a third-party solution. This page examines some options:

  • HT4910 Can I backup my Powerpoint and Word docs on iCloud

I want to be able to access my Powerpoint docs via iCloud, is it possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Yes you can do that.
You can add word, excel and PowerPoint documents to iCloud via the appropriate iWork application (ie, pages for word, numbers for excel etc) when you do this, they can be opened by iWork apps on mobile device or by iWork or MS Office on a computer.
In addition to this, you can add most types of documents to iCloud through text edit and preview.

  • Cannot open docs in iCloud after update version 3.2

    Hello folks,
today in the morning I take the suggested update for the iWork Suite on my MacBook Pro and my iPad mini. I use all the applications on both, so Numbers, Pages, Keynote. After the update my Mac programs show to me an error trying to open docs in iCloud. It says "doc xyz cannot be opened". If I move them to my local disk, everything is all right then. This is the same with Numbers, Pages and Keynote. If I move them back to iCloud, the problem appears once again. I didn't changed anything in settings on Mac and on my iPad mini, but the problem occurs just on my Mac. I have the latest updates of OS on both.
Thank you for every suggestion! Perhaps there are more like me out there?!
    Michael

    Hello Cyberherby,
Not being able to access your documents can be frustrating. After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with documents in the cloud. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:

  • When downloading a numbers doc from iCloud it opens as a pdf in Preview...am i missing something? i need it to open in Numbers

when downloading numbers doc from icloud it opens/saves as a pdf......cannot save / open as a numbers doc

    Hello
In the technote available at : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4942
    Apple wrote :
Are changes I make to iWork documents on my iOS device automatically made available on my other mobile devices and computer?
Once you set-up iCloud on your mobile devices, the changes you make to iWork documents on one device are automatically made available on your other mobile devices. For the changes to appear on your computer, you must manually download the updated document(s) from icloud.com/iwork. The reverse is also true: for changes made to iWork documents on your computer to appear on your iOS device, you must upload the updated document(s) toicloud.com/iwork using your computer’s web browser.
Are you using this scheme ?
I guess that the answer is : NO

  • Can I use Safari to edit Numbers doc on iCloud?

Before getting Numbers, I need to know more about how it works with iCloud. I see that iCloud has a section called "iWork" with a tab for Numbers. I assume that if I have created a Numbers document and saved it in iCloud, I will see it on the page shown by clicking on that Numbers tab. I also know that I will be able to edit the document from an iMac, iPhone, and iPad. My question is, essentially, HOW can I edit a Numbers doc in iCloud? More specifically, can I open the Numbers doc and edit it directly in Safari while navigating iCloud, like a note in Notes, or must I always use the Numbers program/app to edit a Numbers doc saved on iCloud?
Of course, I will need to buy Numbers to create a Numbers document in the first place, but can I then edit it in Safari by opening the doc in Safari on the iCloud web site?
If I must always use the Numbers program/app to edit a document, then what, if any, functionality does iCloud provide for Numbers docs beyond that provided by DropBox?
    Same question for Pages.

    Louie,
iCloud is, in theory, better integrated. That assumes all the latest software on all platforms, OS and Numbers.
Dropbox seems to me to be more stable than iCloud, but that's just my impression.
iCloud is just the messenger that moves the documents between machines. Safari can not be used to edit an iWork document. Connecting to iCloud with your browser a;;pws you to view and manage the files stored there, but doesn't give you content editing tools.

  • Unable to download doc from icloud to mac

Can anyone help with document download?  I can see my docs on icloud on my mac, but am unable to download them, even after selecting the doc, choosing 'download', and replying 'save' to the prompt "do you want to save this file" I cannot find files anywhere on my mac.  I had success moving files from my mac, via icloud, to my ipad.  Would like to go both ways.

I am trying, unsuccessfully, to use the 'brower solution'.  I am on icloud.com/iwork, I see all my documents, when I select one, I'm given an option of format (pages, pdf, word) I make that selection, then the box says "preparing file"  The next box says "you have chosen to open "my document name" which is a WORD document from: http:// ______iwork  would you like to save this file?  When I choose "save file" nothing happens, can't seem to find file on my mac anywhere.  Any more advice?  Thanks!   It seems odd that I can easily drag and drop documents from my mac onto the icloud panel and they are quickly transferred and visible on my ios devices right away.

have Pages on iPad and MacBook Pro but can't access docs from iCloud on laptop. laptop keeps telling me to purchase pages for iPad (which I've been using on both the iPad and MacBook for months - App store says i have them both too). Both units have current updated systems and apps. Using same apple ID.  Calendar and contacts work fine between both machines.

Do you have any secondary accounts set up in mail, contacts and calendars.

  • If i upload a doc to iCloud from my iMac and if i change it on my notebook whys isn't it then automatically updated on my Mac??

If i upload a doc to iCloud from my iMac and if i change it on my notebook whys isn't it then automatically updated on my Mac??

    Welcome to the Apple community.
It isn't automatically updated on your Mac, because it's not on your Mac.
The document you have altered is in the cloud and needs re-downloading from iCloud.com, before you can see the changes on your Mac.
