Read a text file and put the text in a TextEdit UI

I have found code sample for reading file inside webdynpro, but I can't manage to make it works with a text file on the web (ex.: "http:/.../file.txt").
Can someone post the exact code needed for that?
Thanks!

Hope this post will help people doing their homeworks...
          StringBuffer tmpBuffer = new StringBuffer();
          try {
               URL url = new URL("http://.../test.txt");
               URLConnection urlconnection = url.openConnection();
               long l = urlconnection.getContentLength();
               tmpBuffer.append("Content Length = " + l);
               BufferedReader in =
                    new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(url.openStream()));
               String line;
               while ((line = in.readLine()) != null) {
                    tmpBuffer.append("\n" + line);
               in.close();
          } catch (Exception e) {
               //System.out.println(e.toString());
          if (tmpBuffer != null) {
               wdContext.currentContextElement().setZoneMessage(
                    tmpBuffer.toString());

  • IO - Read two image files and put them into one file

    Hi,
    i have 3 files in all. The two image files and one text file. I need to place the image in the first image file, followed by text in the text file and then the image in the second image file, into one file.
    Can anyone tell me how do i go about doing this ?
    i tried using fileinputstream and fileoutputstream, which works fine if all the 3 files have text but when the first and the third file have image, the code doesn't give any error but the result file displays only the image from the first file and nothing else.
    i am running short of time and need to do this really soon.
    if anyone has done anything like this. please let me know,
    thanx,
    poonam

    One approach would be to programmatcally create a single zip/jar file from the three input files. You can use the java.util.zip and java.util.jar packages for this purpose.
    The other apprach would be to create a single image by drawing images and text strings on a BufferedImage object.
    I think the first approach is preferable because you can easily extract the individual files from the zip/jar file

    as Gasparotto said, copy the csv file to the database server.
    create a directory object on the database.
    create directory dir_temp as 'e:\mydir'
    grant read, write on directory dir_Temp to <user>
    and then map this csv file to the external table using the below syntax.
    CREATE TABLE tab_hierarchy
    node_id          NUMBER,
    parent_id     NUMBER,
    description      VARCHAR2(255)
    ORGANIZATIOn EXTERNAL
         TYPE ORACLE_LOADER
         DEFAULT DIRECTORY dir_temp
         ACCESS PARAMETERS
         records delimited by newline
         fields terminated by ','
         (node_id,parent_id,description)
         LOCATION ('tree.csv')
    PARALLEL
    REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;in the above code, replace the filename under the LOCATION with your csv file name.
    now you should be just able to do select on this table and insert to the other main tbale.

  • Read from .txt file and output the content as two arrays

    I am using the contoured move to control the x-y stage. The trajectory datas for x and y axis are generated using my interpolation program and it is stored in a .txt file as two columns. What I want to do is read .txt file and output the content of this file as two arrays. Is there anyone has any ideas? Thanks, the .txt file is attached.

    Hi Awen,
    This is quite easy to do, you can merely use the "read from spreadsheet file" function to get a 2D array (2 columns and n rows) and then use the index array function to get whatever row/colums you want..
    Hope the attached VI helps you

  • How to merge text files and put the result in a text file.

    Hi,
    I am trying to merge the files(text) using OWB and I would like to put the result in a file. Could any one please explain how to do this.
    Thanks and regards
    Gowtham Sen.

    using the unix commnad 'cat' along with the redirect '>>' will concat the files into one target
    #this will create the target file and over-write it if it existed already
    cat file1 > target
    ##Now add the rest of the files to the target, without over-writing
    cat file2 >>target
    cat file3 >>target
    cat file16 >> target
    You can then use an external table on the target file.
    A nicer way would be to user a 'for loop', but this will work fine.

    Hi,

    ThanksI think this should work but I wrote it out without completely thinking about it (hopefully to get things started).
    So if you had this:
    age height earnings
    0 2 100
    1 3 50
    2 1 0
    For the age column you'd take 2 as the largest and then divide 0 and 1 by two to get 0, .5.
    First build up test files that seperate the columns in different ways. With spaces, tabs, and the ASCI Control character for null ( I think it's 0 ). Your program should detect
    numbers and spaces, tabs control character, commas and periods (for money). Because numbers don't have spaces it should be easy to keep track of which column
    you're in.
    Store each line into a 3D String array with each index containing a String built up from the chars scanned in on each line, when a blank area is found followed by another
    number iterate the column index. When you come to the end of the line set column == 0 and row+1.
    private String[][][] test = new String[2][6][1];
    20     3      11      14      44       0
    4      5       7      80      91      49
    test[0][0][0] would be row 1 col 1 value 1 ((20))
    test[0][1][0] would be r1, c2, v1 ((3))
    test[1][0][0] would be r2, c1, v1 ((4))
    test[1][2][0] would be r2, c3, v1 ((7))
    test[1][5][0] would be r2, c6, v1 ((49))

  • Reading from XML file and updating the table ????

    Hi
    I have package which reads the hier.XML file and does Update inserts into the 5 tables
    i have table called MAIN_tbl with the column cur_date.
    The package kicks if this cur_date is one day less than the hier.XML file DT.
    Currently i m manually checking this date's to make sure the Main_tbl cur_date is n sync with
    hier.XML file DT.
    for example :- hier.xml file DT is "20091020" then main_table cur_date should be 10/19/2009
    in order to kicks of the pakage.
    what i m looking to do ??
    compare the hier.xml DT with the main_table cur_date,
    if cur_date is -1(Preivous day) of hier.xml DT then run hier_pkg(Package)
    if not then update main_table cur_date to -1(previous day) of the hier.xml DATE
    Then later write the above logic to update the main_table in a procedure, and
    then call the package from the procedure.
    below are the top few lines of the hier.XML file which is relevant to the one which we are trying to do
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <HIER_POSTING num ="111" HIER_TYP="CD" DT="20091020" Global="Y">
    FYI : The hier.XML file is located in UNIX space.
    How do i accomplish this. any idea ????
    Thank you so much in advance. For giving a thought on this problem!!!

    Any thought on this guys ???
    Thanks!!

    Based on the excellent idea by Pegasus, where is a VBScript solution. I use a separate file to save the last line count read from the file, then each time the file is read I update the line count. Only lines after the last count are output by the program:
    Option Explicit
    Dim strFile, objFSO, objFile, strCountFile, objCountFile, strLine, lngCount, lngLine
    Const ForReading = 1
    Const ForWriting = 2

    ' Specify file with most recent line count.
    strCountFile = "c:\Scripts\Count.txt"
    ' Open the input file for reading.

  • Read two CSV files and remove the duplicate values within them.

    Hi,
    I want to read two CSV files(which contains more than 100 rows and 100 columns) and remove the duplicate values within that two files and merge all the unique values and display it as a single file.

    Can you help me....Yeah, I've just finished... Here's a skeleton of my solution.
    The first thing I think you should do is write a line-parser which splits your input data up into fields, and test it.
    Then fill out the below parse method, and test it with that debugPrint method.
    Then go to work on the print method.
    I can help a bit along the way, but if you want to do this then you have to do it yourself. I'm not going to do it for you.

  • Read from a file and execute the statement

    Hi
    I have a .sql file that contains insert statements.
    I would like to open the file, read a statement and execute it using a procedure.
    Can sombody help me out?

    > I have a .sql file that contains insert statements.
    I would like to ...<snipped> ... execute it ...<snipped>...
    Go to SQL*Plus and type in "start <your file name>" ?
    If the goal is to insert those records, and using a procedure is less important.

  • How do I read from a file and store the information in an array?

    Here is my problem:
    I am going to have to use a bufferedReader to read a file containing information on 10 vehicles. And after I read that file I want to store the info in Vehicle [] V.
    Where should I start?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Thank you for the quick response.
    As of right now our code is the same. Now I have to "parse" the information. What exactly do you mean?
    My code is as follows:
    while((str = br.readLine()) != null)
    String[] tokenArray = str.split(" ");
    for(int i = 0; i < tokenArray.length; i++)
    System.out.print(" Token: " + tokenArray);
    System.out.println("\n");
    Is that what you mean by parsing?
    I am not quite sure what e slpit(" ") is doing. Is there a better way?
    And just to make sure I am understanding my own code, I am storing the information from the br in tokenArray. Followed by a series of print statements which output the info.Correct?
    Thanks again,

  • Reading A xml file and sending that XML Data as input  to a Service

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to read(I am using File adapter to read) a xml file and map the data in that xml to a service(schema) input variable.
    Example of  xml file that I have to read and the content of that xml file like below:
      <StudentList>
        <student>
           <Name> ravi</Name>
           <branch>EEE</branch>
          <fathername> raghu</fathername>
        </student>
      <student>
           <Name> raju</Name>
           <branch>ECE</branch>
          <fathername> ravi</fathername>
        </student>
    <StudentList>
    I have to pass the data(ravi,EEE,raghu etc) to a service input varible. That invoked Service input variable(schema) contains the schema similar to above schema.
    My flow is like below:
      ReadFile file adapter -------------------> BPEL process -----> Target Service.I am using transform activity in BPEL process to map the data from xml file to Service.
    I am using above xml file as sample in Native Data format(to create XSD schema file).
    After I built the process,I checked file adapter polls the data and receive the file(I am getting View xml document in EM console flow).
    But transform activity does not have anything and it is not mapping the data.I am getting blank data in the transform activity with only element names like below
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------EM console Audit trail (I am giving this because u can clearly understand what is happening-----------------------------------------------------
       -ReceiveFile
            -some datedetails      received file
              View XML document  (This xml contains data and structure like above  xml )
        - transformData:
            <payload>
              <InvokeService_inputvariable>
                  <part name="body">
                     <StudentList>
                         <student>
                           <name/>
                            <branch/>
                            <fathername/>
                         </student>
                   </StudentList>
              </part>
             </InvokeService_inputvariable>
    'Why I am getting like this".Is there any problem with native data format configuration.?
    Please help me out regarding this issue as I am running out my time.

    Hi syam,
    Thank you very much for your replies so far so that I have some progrees in my task.
    As you told I could have put default directory in composite.xml,but what happenes is the everyday new final subdirectory gets created  in the 'soafolder' folder.What I mean is in  the c:/soafolder/1234_xmlfiles folder, the '1234_xmlfiles' is not manually created one.It is created automatically by executing some jar.
    Basically we can't know the sub folder name until it is created by jar with its own logic. whereas main folder is same(soafolder) ever.
    I will give you example with our folder name so that it would be more convenient for us to understand.
    1) yesterday's  the folder structure :  'c:/soafolder/130731_LS' .The  '130731_LS' folder is created automatically by executing some jar file(it has its own logic to control and create the subdirectories which is not in our control).
    2) Today's folder structure :  'c:/soafolder/130804_LS. The folder is created automatically(everytime the number part(130731,130804).I think that number is indicating 2013 july 31 st like that.I have to enquire about this)is changing) at a particular time and xml files will be loaded in the folder.
    Our challenge : It is not that we can put the default or further path in composite.xml and poll the file adapter.Not everytime we have to change the path in composite.xml.The process should know the folder path (I don't know whether it is possible or not.) and  everyday and file adapter poll the files in that created subfolders.
    I hope you can understand my requirement .Please help me out in this regard.
