Reading files from a mapped drive

Hello,
I am trying to pull image files off of a network share in Oracle Forms.
Everytime I do this, I get error FRM-47109 Cannot locate image file..... i
have tried accessing this drive with 2 methods:
1. Button trigger calls with READ_IMAGE_FILE(:datablock.imagelocation ||
:datablock.filename || '.tif', 'ANY', BLOCK7.IMAGE_ITEM);
2. Button trigger calls with READ_IMAGE_FILE('\\server\images\'
||:CRASH_IMAGES.folder || '\' || :crash_images.docno ||'.tif',
'ANY', 'BLOCK7.IMAGE_ITEM');
Both of these calls work on the development side where the T:\ drive is mapped.
When the form is put on the production server with the same T:\ drive mapping,
the image is unable to be located.
I have also found Microsoft article Q122702, which explains how network shares
are distributed to services. I have edited the registry key
RestrictNullSessAccess to a value of 0, and remapped the drive using: NET USE
T: \\server\images /user:Administrator password.
None of this has worked for me so far, and I have been informed of possible
issues with forms and mapped network drives. Has anyone seen this before or know of a fix?
Thanks,
Jordan

I'm not too familiar with Windows user accounts.
I'm having this problem of not being able to read files from a mapped drive.
Using 10.1.2 Forms Service on a XP machine.
How do i check to see which user is running the forms service and/or how do I change the settings a user has access to?
Check in server-info and User/Group: #-1(1)/1, what the heck??
Thanks.

  • Reading files from shared mapped folders

    How is the correct approach to read files from a volume which maps a shared disk?
    I mean, we have the Y:\Folder which maps \\bla_bla\root\folder.
    Our application has to read into Y:\Folder.
    How do we create a File object which points to Y:\Folder?
    Thanks.

    > We catch a java.lang.NullPointerException
    Okay. You know how to debug those, right? Some condition exists that is causing an NPE (that line alone won't do it), so you'll need to do some investigating.
    How to resolve a java.lang.NullPointerException
    You'll want to ensure that the directory actually exists, you've mapped it correctly, you have the appropriate permissions to access it, etc.
    Good luck!

  • Reading files from external hard drive

    Hi, I have over 30,000 photos but there are all in my external hard drive. How can I see my photos in iPhoto without exporting them all. or to make iPhoto save the files on to my external hard dive.
    cheers,
    Jerry

    Jerry:
    You can have multiple libraries and have them located anywhere you'd like. For locating your library to another location, an external HD, see Moving iPhoto Library Folder to New Location. For iPhoto to see those that are currently on the external HD, you will have to import them into your current or new libraries.
    There are two applications, iPhoto Buddy and iPhoto Library Manager, that will facilitate you having and using multiple libraries. I currently manage 10 separate libraries and move between them very easily.
    Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • Reading from a mapped drive

    Hello,
       I am reading a file from a mapped network drive and displaying the contents of the file immediately after I have written the file to the mapped network drive. I am doing this to verify to the user that if they are able to view the contents of the file the data have been obtained from the test equipment and has been written to the mapped network drive. When the network and/or server is working correctly the code works great. But when the network and and server slows down I cannot read the file from the mapped network drives. I have also seen ths situation after I have upgraded the lab computers.
      So should I put a fixed delay before I read and hope that it is long enough? Will using a file exist check before I read do it? Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Kaspar

    In general, it is a bad idea to work directly with network drives for the exact reason you are seeing. You are at the mercy of network hangups. I can't tell you how many times this comes up as an issue with the testing around here, but the engineers here insist on using network drives. Fine, I say. Then deal with the occasional error. It is usually better to store data files locally and periodically transfer them to the network drive.
    If you cannot read from the network drive, then you cannot read from the network drive. Putting in a delay may only fix the situation under certain cases. In some situation it will do no good. What do you do then? Increase the delay? I think your program should first save the file locally and then copy it to the network drive. It should attempt to read from the network drive with a timeout. If the file is not available within a reasonable amount of time then you simply notify the user that there's network problems, and continue on with the test.  At least you will know that the data file has been saved locally.

  • Help reading a .txt file from the hard drive....

    Hi guys,
    Ok... I need to know how to read a .txt file from the hard drive... I have an example on how to read from a disk, but I don't have a disk drive. I could be confusing terminology, but I don't think I am. Here is the code I have for reading from a disk.. please let me know how I should change it to read from a hard drive.
    Also, when the error pops up, it says that it can't read another .txt file that is not specified in the code... any ideas how that is occuring? Please advise.

  • Can the aTV read files from an iTunes library on my nas drive without my computer being on

    I have my itunes library on a My Book Live nas drive that contains all of my digital movies and TV shows. I want to be able to watch my movies from the library without a computer running. I understand that Apple has chosen to chain you to the computer and your itunes account through Home Sharing but I can not see why they couldn't allow you to access a nas drive without a computer running because your aTV is tied to your itunes account also so why do they force you to run a computer 24/7 365 in order to access the files you have bought and paid for.
    I have a love/hate for Apple because I love the quality of the products they make but I hate how they make all of the digital files you purchase only accessible through a computer running Home Sharing even though the files are not stored on the computer.
    I have tried several things to get this to work without a computer but no luck. The only way I have found to be able to do this is to Jailbreak your aTV and install 3rd party software (which I don't want to do) that will allow you to by pass the computer and Home Sharing (which is dumber than ****) because that is all I want to do is eliminate the need of a computer running wasting electricity (I thought Apple was supposed to be an enviro friendly company, guess not). I am not trying to steal or give someone else my purchased movies and using the aTV and an internet connection they could still be able to tie your media to your itunes account so I just don't get there thinking, or lack of thinking I should say.
    Is their a way to do this without Jailbreaking or modifying your aTV?
    If not is Apple ever going to wake up and allow there customers to actually USE the media they purchase from them without Home Sharing and a computer running?

  • Unable to rename folders and files on SharePoint mapped drive.

    I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 and have mapped a drive to my SharePoint "Shared Documents" folder.  I am able to open, save, and delete files and folders.  However, I am unable to rename files and folders.  No matter how long of
    short of a name I use I get the following error:
    "The file name you specified is not valid or too long.  Specify a different file name."
    I've mapped the "S" drive to http://hostname.domain.com/Shared Documents/
    I am a SharePoint Admin, and have confirmed that if I do not have this problem if I log into SharePoint with IE.  I have also confirmed that others are not experiencing this issue. Also, this issue did not exist on my previous installation of Windows
    7.  Therefore I assume this is a config issue.
    Also, in "My Computer" it shows the mapped SharePoint drive as a "FAT" filesystem.

    Did some more testing. From my mapped drive, I can create new folders and files, and delete them.  I created a folder in Windows Explorer, when I tried to give a name it gave me the above error and saved the folder as "New Folder".  No matter when
    I try, I cannot rename this folder unless I log into the SharePoint interface.
    Next, I tried this from the command line.  I moved to my S drive, and did a "mkdir test" and was able to create a folder named test.  Next I tried to "rename test testing" and received the following error:
    The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
    The full path is S:\test.  If I do a "mkdir testing" I am able to create the folder.  If I try to rename the folder in Explorer, it gives me the "file name not valid or too long".  I'm obviously well under the 260 character limit, so there
    has to be something wrong with the fiel name, or drive mapping.
    Also, when I "dir" the S drive it tells me the drive has no label.  "Volume in drive S has no label."
    I'm having the same issue with files. I can create a file, modify it, delete it, but can't rename it.

  • Can't preview files from a network drive to a local CF9 server.

    Hi,
    I have the following set up:
    CF9 Local Dev version
    CF Builder 2.
    Project files are in a network drive N:\project
    I have RDS set up and everything seems to work ok, view DSN, files, etc on my local server.
    In the URL prefix section I even created a map:
    Local Path: N:\project,
    URL prefix: http://localhost:8500/project/
    There is no FTP set up on the CF9 server.
    The problem is that when I try to preview a file that I am working on from N:\project, it doesn't show on my local server. The previewing part works if I manually move the file to CF9. But it is the automatic uploading (or moving) of the file to the local CF9  that doesn't seem to work.
    BTW, I have a similar set up in DreamWeaver, where I am editing the same project (or site in this case) off of  N:\project, uploading to the same local CF9 server through RDS, and it works fine.
    I know that if in CF Builder you move the project to under the web root it will work but that would not work for us, since we need to keep the project source files on a network drive for sharing/backup purposes.
    Has anyone been able to successfully preview source files from a network drive on a local CF9 server?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi again,
    After doing some more googling I realize that for files to be previewed the MUST be under wwwroot. This wasn't too clear in the CF documentation.
    So my new question is:
    Is there are way, once I save a file to automatically copy it from one location(N:\project) to another (c:/ColdFusion9/wwwroot/project)?
    I think there is a way to do it with Ant or some sort of Eclipse feature, but I am not too familiar with either. Could someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks,

  • [SOLVED] How to Restore Folders/Files from a Hard Drive

    I broke my system today; it won't boot into any run level. Rather than try to fix it, I'd like to just pull off the 4 or 5 MB of files that are on the hard drive. The partition they are in was formatted XFS. I have the 2008.06 ArchLive CD - is it possible to access files from the hard drive after booting with an ArchLive CD? If so, I could just scp them to an external server. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    You should be able to mount the partition once you've loaded up the live CD. Just figure out which one it is by using
    fdisk -l
    then mount it to /mnt or wherever you want it.
    As for moving/saving them, I'm not entirely sure how to get them onto an external server. You might have to mount another partition in order to install any apps that you need to connect to an external server, but wait for someone who really knows to answer before you try it. If you're only talking about 4 or 5 MB, I would just mount a USB stick and dump them on there.

    There is another option if the Macbook will start up in Target Disk Mode.
    Restart the computer while holding down the T key. If you see the firewire symbol moving around on the screen you can connect this one to another one in TDM. You will need a suitable cable to connect the two Macs.

    Format the external drive as FAT32 or ExFAT. Both computers will then be able to read and write to it.

  • Reading file from a folder : File dir = new File(URL+aFile_to_add);

    Hi,
    Trying to read files from a dir on my site using a JSP and bean. I've tried nearly every option for the filepath I can think of and it doesn't seem to be finding the file...
    Here's the bit:
    String URL = "images\\wedding_photos\\";
    File dir = new File(URL+aFile_to_add);
    String[] files = dir.list();
    It's working locally, but I obviously had to change the path from c://... to the above.
    The full code is listed below in the addWedding Method
    The method removes the .jpg from the file name and then writes the new file name to a database

  • Transferring some files from old hard drive to new mac book pro: How do I do this?  I bought a SATA Wire, and can't figure out how to get my files

    Hi there, my old mac book recently died and I opted to buy a new macbook pro, instead of pouring lots of money into the old computer.  I was able to get my hard drive out, and I bought a 2.5" Sata Nootbook Drive Upgrade Kit.  I have also installed superduper!....but I can't really figure out how to get everything to work.  I just want to be able to take some of my files from my hard drive, not everything...
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    I don't know what a "2.5" Sata Nootbook Drive Upgrade Kit" is but if you have a internal drive you need to connect all you needed was a $20 IDE/SATA to USB adapter
    You don't need Superduper, that's software designed to clone a entire Mac's boot drive to a external drive for bootable backup purposes using the same machine/make/model.
    Since the new Mac is different than the old one you can't clone (well you could but it will break the machine) the old drive to the new one.
    However you can use the adapter above and software Apple provides in the Utilities folder on the NEW MAC, called Migration Assistant to transfer your User to the new machine.
    However this might not be the best course of action as it can transfer unwanted data and cause problems in the Library, old programs that won't run on 10.7, etc.
    You can simply create the same named user on the machine (System Preferences > Accounts) log into it and then connect the external drive with the adapter and copy the contents of your users folders over and place into the same.
    It's always good to have another Admin level user account on the machine in case the primary one has a User based issue and you need to log into the other and grab files. So if either manually or via using Migration Assistant you wind up with two user accounts on the machine, it's really not that big of a deal.
