Real MSI Card?

I have just bought an MSI NX6800GT T2D256E (6800GT PCI-E) card from Gladiator Computers.
They firstly sent me an AGP card in a PCI-E box which they said they would sort.
I received the PCI-E version today but I don’t think its an MSI card.
Can you confirm whether MSI have ever made a board with the NVidia Mermaid on the fan?
Is this in fact an MSI board at all?
If not I just want them to change it for the one I want.
The fan on the one I received isn’t copper and is much smaller than the MSI cards I have seen and im worried I wont be able to overclock it so much.
I have spoken with Gladiator Computers and they assured me it was a MSI card but the whole board structure is different even down to the molex connectors at the back! Theres no way MSI would completely change their board design including colour is there?

It is a reference design by nVidia. nVidia uses private contract manufacturers that make the cards, then they are sent to partners that just put thier own sticker on them, this is nothing new folks...Just look at eVGA...
For example, ATI builds thier own cards in Canada and ships them to partners, they, in turn, put thier own sticker on the cards and sell them under their own brand name.
It's the same with nVidia, especially with a new GPU release. This is done in the beginning to insure QC and compliance to the reference design. At some point the vendor (if capable) begins manufacture. There were also problems with the MSI cooler design, in conjunction with this, there was a shortage as I am sure you are aware. So there are many reasons you could have ended up with the reference card. It may have even been made by MSI with the reference design and used the green soldermask color.
Many Vendors do this so it's not some type of conspiracy. Some of the same scenario's where shared with the release of the 5XXX series if my memory serves me correctly.
It sucks that you got a reference design if you expected to get something that was shown differently than what was on a website or packaging. Not much anyone here can do, your only real recourse is dealing directly with the reseller.
Now, on the other hand, if you recieved a 12 pipeline version, that may be a different issue altogether and you need to contact your reseller or local MSI subsidiary for a resolution.
There are no "Fake" cards.

  • Which MSI card supports the apple 30"

There are so many video cards out there and theories about which card will run this monitor, i almost wasted a lot of money trying to run the monitor on my 6800GT... it doenst i have tried both DVI ports.
Basically i want to know which MSI card supports the apple 30" does the new 7800? the old 6800 ultra? is my 6800GT messed?
A few things i can confirm are this, the monitor because of some signal issues DOES NOT support SLI at all.
I have read a few reviews that say the 7800GTX does not support this monitor - very disappointing i have to look for an older 6800 card.... - this is unconfirmed maybe someone can get back to me about this.
Anyways if MSI could tell us which card of theirs works i will turf my 6800GT and buy whatever is needed.

I can't be shure which MSI card support it, but reading the release notes from the latest nvidia drivers (77.22) I saw this:
The GeForce 6800 Ultra 512MB works in single card mode with Apple 30 inch HD Cinema panel. However, an issue has been discovered when running the GeForce 6800 Ultra 512MB card in SLI mode with an Apple 30 inch HD Cinema display. This is due to an interaction
between the GPU, the application, and the ability to scale to nonnative panel resolutions of the Apple display.
All GeForce 6 series GPUs will work with Apple 23 and 20 inch HD Cinema displays in single GPU mode. NVIDIA recommends using the GeForce 6800 Ultra 512MB with the Apple 30 inch HD Cinema Display line only in non-SLI modes.
    Edit here:
Modes Supported for High Resolution Displays:
    Display:
*Apple 30” Cinema HD Display (Dual link DVI)
    Hardware Requirements:
*All High-end Quadro FX (see list of products in “Quadro FX Family of High End GPUs”
     * GeForce 6800 with 512 MB
    Maximum Resolution:
    2560x1600 @ 60Hz
    Source: 77.22 Forceware Release Notes.
I guess that your card (6800 GT Non Ultra) doesn't support it. Maybe a new drievers release will fix this.

  • Proxy to use SATSA (or apdutool) with real smart-card

    Hi!
I tried to communicate with smart card applet emulated in cref (jcwde also) from midlet via SATSA. But java card development kit includes only stub classes for javacardx.crypto - so I cannot even emulate applet which uses crypto though I can install it on real java card where it works well.
So, I've written proxy which acts in place of cref (or jcwde), receives APDU from SATSA and forwards them to applet on real smart card. It is in alpha stage but does job for me.
Is anyone else interested in it?
I started registration of project on sourceforge to make it publicly available.

the above problem is solved now. i am able to run WTK satsademo now..
but the problem is that the eeprom image which i created using java card development kit is not working with WTK emulator..
is this because of that protocol difference problem..
i have downloaded ur proxy application but the problem is that i hv to simulate every thing..
so is this proxy can be used to forward request to the java card emulator instead of the real card applet?
    plz help me....

  • Running 2 MSI Cards for Quad Setup but only seeing 2 montiors

I built this computer about 8 months ago and all has worked great till my primary C drive failed, replaced the drive and have been reloading everything but can't seem to get my 2 video cards to work like they did previously.
Homebuilt system, xp pro, abit IP35 motherboard, intel quad core processor, 2 geforce 8600 GT video cards (both have dual dvi out) so I have 4 monitors on these 2 cards).
This is a link to the exact card I have 2 of them in this machine on that abit Ip35 motherboard.
    MSI NX8600GT-T2D256EZ
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127293
This is what I have done
I loaded up windows xp, loaded up the abit motherboard drivers etc, updated all of the windows sp3, ie7, all security and driver updates, then I put in the msi disc I got with the cards loaded the drivers for xp, restarted and went into the nvidia control panel to adjust the multimonitor display setup (setup of multiple displays under display options).
I also hit the  "my monitor is not showing" option but still didnt pick up monitors 3 and 4, like it did originally when i built this setup.
I then went into the device manager and confirmed under display both geforce 8600 cards were showing and went to both and even tried manually loading the drivers from the cd rom disc (did that successfully) but still after a restart nogo on the 3 & 4 monitors showing up.
This is probably such a silly question but i cant remember how i got it all to load up and work before, and im sorta stumped as to what im doing wrong, i confirmed both cards are fully seated (and device manager does show both cards and shows both are functioning properly with drivers loaded), is there anything I need to check setup or adjust in the bios possibly?
    Bill

Figured it out after a bit of sleep and re-thinking it, had to right click on desktop / properties / settings, then under display I had to choose each of the 4 different monitors one at a time and check the "extend windows desktop onto this monitor" box, once I did that for all 4 and hit apply, i was able to position each box where I wanted it and all worked great.
Sorry for the question here I was just getting really frustrated after not being able to figure it out last night.

  • Using unbranded nVidia drivers with OC-edition MSI cards

    Hello,
I'm using MSI GeForce 8800GT 512MB OC edition (NX8800GT T2D512E-OC) with branded MSI drivers.
Since MSI doesn't exactly release new drivers on daily basis (latest release - 175.16, 7/21) I was considering using unbranded drivers directly from nVidia.
I'd like to ask if there would/could be any performance decrease or any issues related to using unbranded drivers with my card.
My hardware retailer told me I *must* use branded drivers as it is an OC edition card, but he already stuffed me with bullcrap before so I'm asking here to confirm (or disconfirm, hopefully).
Thanks for any help in advance.

    You can use any drivers

  • Running joystick on real time card

I'm using PCI-7041/6040E real time daq card directly running on windows (labview and the daq card installed in single computer). How can i communicate data between host and daq card? I want to use joystick while the joystick vi can't be download in RT excecution target. In this forum says it can be done if joystick vi is running on host and the joystick data is transfered to RT target, but for my condition (using one computer), Can I do this?

    hello
the examples send data acquired with nidaq, but you want to send data from the joystick. see the attached simplified vis and read the documentation of the vis (right click on the vis->help). attached vis are not tested, so maybe you have to play around a bit.

Hi I was going to get the Gainward 770 4gb card but I had to use some of my money so I can't afford it now but I found this card in my budget any views on it.

Hi very pleased with the look and size of the  MSI Radeon HD 7970 Twin Frozr III/OC Boost Edition and it is also quiet, I have tried it with Hitman Absolution and the graphics look good, I also tried it with Crysis 3 and it seemed a bit glitchy should I be able to play it with everything turned up or am I pushing it a bit.

  • How can I tell which optional extras come with MSI cards?

I was about ready to buy an MSI 9800GTX but then I quickly realised that MSI have at least four optional extras for this card and I have no way of knowing what card comes with what.
    MSI's description:
    MSI 9800GTX
Optional extras: External SPDIF Cable, Internal SPDIF Cable, HDMI Cable, DVI/HDMI Adapter
    Retailer's sites:
    Aria
    CCL
    Komplett
    Dabs

Now can anyone spot any clues as to which extras come with those cards?

Thanks guys. Where I am we don't have that many shops that sell this kind of electronic equipment. The only shops around here are all run by PC World and none of them sell the 9800GTX (they only sell one make of GX2 for example). That's why I have to depend on web retailers. I tried calling MSI UK (they don't seem to offer an email service) but there was no one there - I'm guessing they're closed at the weekend. I might try again on Monday.
I know how you feel. PC World are an utter rip off, I would NEVER(!!) buy from there.

  • New msi card small fire

I was putting my new PC together lastnight and had a small issue.  Installed the MSI 980 card.  Started hooking up harness that I now believe was for power supply.  I plugged it in a 12V socket on the motherboard instead.  A small fire developed on transistor 41.
Does anyone have a good installation guide?

    Quote from: mthomas007 on 11-March-15, 20:36:53
I mean,  where is the correct place to plug the harness?  And is it one harness off the card or two?  I see two plugs off the card but I only have one harness.
You are not making any sense with that description. What harness from what? The only external electrical connection to the VGA card is from the PSU.
See the posting guide as instructed and list the components of your PC, see my signature below for example of what to list. Be as accurate as you can regarding brand/part/model names and numbers for everything.
Transistor 41 on what? MB or VGA card?

  • Any MSI card support dual monitor?

    hi,
just wanna get a Geforce4 FX5600, but wonder if it supports dual monitor, or some other series support this. can I just connect one monitor using the VGA port ad 1 thru the DVI port? will that work? and split the screen as dual monitor function?
    thanks for your time

nView is the keyword to look for. The card should have at least one DVI and one VGA, or two VGA or two DVI.
Go to the product info page and search for the keyword "nView".

  • Best MSI card for Athlon 3000 xp 333fsb

    Hi There,
I've just bought a Athlon 3000 xp 333fsb to put into my MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU (MS-6380E v1.X) which I have just flashed to Bios version 5.7, but I'm having trouble getting the system to boot up when setting my fsb to 166, it's fine when left to 133fsb, and looking at other peoples posts this seems to be a regular problem. I'm considering just getting a new motherboard to see if that sorts out the problem, So I was wondering if someone could advise me on what MSI board to get, is the KT6 Delta FISR or the K7N2 Delta ILSR the more powerful board or is there another one I've missed, it's mainly for gaming to power is obviously important.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    Hello.
For gaming the NF2 ultra is a very good choice.
It has better sound than the MSI KT600 and it is faster.
The VIA KT880 chipset is out and it is a very good board, you might want to look into it.

  • ??MsI G4Ti4600/4400/4200 card??

    Hello,
I bought my G4ti4400 card in June 2002, and it stopped working after 3 or so months later.  ;(
Anyways, I'm having it RMAed this week, and I was wondering:
How long have you guys had you card without it going screwy? I mean, who has had their card without it having to be RMAed? or who has RMAed several times?
I just wanna know if there is an expiration date on these MSI cards that I don't know about.
Also... I've noticed that MSI does not sell the 4400 model anymore... Does this mean that if they can't fix my card they will send my somthing like a 4600?
Probably just a stupid question.  :P
Me and my nowhere questions!  :D

Nha, no expiry dates on these babies :D . I am currently using my GF3 for about 8 months now and it's still going smooth except for the cooling fan on top. The fan gives off a kind of scratchy sound once in a while like someone is dragging a cardboard box full of books across hardwood floor 8) .
And no, I don't think they will send you a Ti4600 to replace a Ti4400. MSI has them in stock, they are just not selling them to retailers. Right now, they will probably just test your card, and if it is proven defective, they will just pack a new one and send it back to you. Fixing the stuff on the board costs labour and it's more difficult than just replacing it .

  • Question about new video card from MSI - R7750-PMD1GD5/OC

    Hello Folks,
I am afraid I can't find an answer to this anywhere, so I have had to post, even though I bet that somewhere, someone has asked this question before !!!!
I changed by Base Unit PC but kept my old monitors because I like them. I run two Acer AL1917's in extended mode.
Well, thats the problem, I did with the old PC which had a graphics card with two DVI outputs and it was easy to do by using two DVI to VGA converters.
However, the new PC has in it an MSI R7750-PMD1GD5/OC which has only one DVI, one HDMI and one Display Port.
Now, I know what the DVI and HDMI Ports are but have no idea what the Display port is!
THE MAIN PROBLEM IS I CAN'T FIND A WAY TO RUN TWO VGA MONITORS IN EXTENDED MODE with these three outputs?
The monitors are VGA ONLY, so is there any way I can use this display card at all to run two vga monitors in extended mode or should I just eBay it !!!
At the moment I have swapped it out for an old Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 which works fine with two DVI's. But I was rather hoping to be able to use my new MSI card.
Is there any way I can do this please?
Many thanks for any help that anyone is able to give.
With best wishes to all for the New Year Ahead,
    Trevor
    The New box is:

    Hard Disks Seagate 1x1TB + 2x2TB
    2 x Acer AL1917 19" Monitors. VGA connections only !!!

    Thank you very much.
On order as we speak. !!!!
All this just for those extra few miles of visibility in MS Flight Simulator X
The only two games I ever play when I have time, probably Easter now, are the aforementioned MSFS and X-Plane !!!!
    Very Sad LOL !!!
Still, we shall see. I didn't know it was as simple as a cable because I always thought vga is anologue and HDMI is Digital, n'er the twain shall mix without a converter LOL
Never mind, I love being proved wrong because it means I have learnt something more in this wonderful life
Thank you again, will report back
