Recommendation parameters 10g

Hi people,
I´m checking the parameters of the note 830576 - Parameter recommendations for Oracle 10g over my fresh installed sap system, but i´ve the next doubt about the value of one parameter.
The note says this:
The parameter EVENT is recommended with the value "10027 trace name context forever, level 1"
I´ve executed the select from note 1171650 and i get this value
NAME
event (10027)
RECOMMENDATION
add with value "10027 trace name context forever, level 1"
REMARK
avoid process state dump at deadlock
SET
N
IS_VALUE
empty--> this field appears empty
SHOULD_BE_VALUE
10027 trace name context forever, level 1
The string "10027 trace name context forever, level 1"      will be appear in the field IS_VALUE? Or the parameter is corrected implememented?
More thanks

Just to add -
We don't have to add only this single line value '10027 trace name context forever, level 1' to the parameter EVENT.
There are multiple sting values to be assigned. as specified in note as well, for e.g.
event='10027 trace name context forever, level 1','10028 trace name context forever, level 1','10162 trace name context forever, level 1','10191 trace name context forever, level 1','38043 trace name context forever, level 1','38068 trace name context forever, level 100'
But when you are really going to modify the parameter EVENT, then you have consider the specific format there in command line, we faced some problems when did for the first time.
Thanks

  • TemplateConfigTool vs. Recommended Parameters

    Hello,
    We have implemented a NW '04 SPS15 landscape and used the Template Configuration Tool to apply the appropriate settings on the J2EE.  Just before the Go-Live checks I noticed that the Dispatcher and Server, Manager ==> ThreadManager settings are not what are recommended in the presentation "Fine Tune the Performance of your SAP Portal".
    For example,
    The presentation shows that the ThreadManager should be:
    InitialThreadCount = 100
    MaxThreadCount = 200
    MinThreadCount = 100
    Although the base installation parameters were slightly different from that of the presentations listed "defaults", I now question the changes that were implemented when we ran the Template Configuration Tool with the Portal.zip configuration file...
    I have adjusted the ThreadManager settings to that of the recommended values in the presentation but I am not sure if:
    a) I should keep those settings or are they specificly set by the Tool?
    b) I should review the old tuning documentation and check to see what is recommended vs. current
    I cannot find other documentation on the tuning parameter requirements for J2EE running a portal.  Maybe I am missing something?  I was depending on the Tool for the recommended parameters.
    Any suggestions or ideas are welcomed.
    Judson

    Hi Paul,
    I will issue points but I want you to know that there are many differences in the configuration applied byt he Template Configuration Tool that are not recommended by SAP for a go-live check. I am not sure if it's the "check" process/software or the Portal.ZIP file for the Template Config Tool - but they are not in-synch.
    Mind you - they are not that far out - but again, this is a tool that one would eventually "trust" as the ZIP files are expected to be up-to-date with the best performance parameters... (I guess).
    But thanks very much anyway,
    An example is that the ThreadManager settings (min/max/change) are set to 40 using the Tool, 100/200/100 (respectively) for the tuning presentation and finally, 20/20/20 for the go-live check... (confusing but implemented)
    Kind regards,
    Judson

    Hello Kumar,
    The following should be the recommended parameters for your case. Always take a backup of initSID.ora and spfileSID.ora file before making the changes.
    fixcontrol Bug fix control parameter
    *._fix_control='5705630:ON','5765456:3','6221403:ON','6329318:ON','6399597:ON','6430500:ON','6440977:ON','6626018:ON','6670551:ON','6972291:ON','7325597:ON','7692248:ON','7891471:ON'
    max_dump_file_size = 20000
    optimizer_index_caching Adjust the usage of nested loops 0
    optimizer_index_caching (do not set)
    optimizer_index_cost_adj Percentage of the calculated index costs 100
    optimizer_index_cost_adj = 20
    parallel_max_servers=20
    parallel_threads_per_cpu = 1
    shared_pool_reserved_size
    CPUs   Shared_Pool_Size
       4              500M
       6                1G
      10                1G
      32                2G
      64                2G
    128                3G
    Resize db_cache depending on your needs. For your case, I would recommend at least 2GB of RAM for db_cache
    pushjoin_union_view
    pushjoin_union_view = false
    Set this as true if 6917874 fix is implemented.
    In addition Oracle processes should be calculated as follows
    Oracle Processes =
    { ABAP WP X 2  +
    J2ee Server Processes*MaxConnection  + Parallel_Max_Servers   + 40 }
    Hope I am clear.
    Thanks,
    Venkatesh Pydi.

  • Basis Parameters for CRM

    Hi,
    are there any performance related / recommended parameters for CRM 4 systems?
    Can't find a specific note from SAP like is the case with BW and R/3.
    Many thanks,

    Hello Andrey,
    I think SAP will provide you this parameters during the Going Live check.

  • Maintain Server parameters to allow huge file size to pass through XI

    Hello SAP Gurus,
    i would like to know how can i check this Server parameters in SAP PI Configuration :
    u2022 UME Parameters : To look into the pool size and poolmax wait parameters - UME recommended parameters (like: poolmaxsize=50, poolmaxwait=60000)
    u2022 Tuning Parameters: To look/define the Message Size Limit u201Clike: EO_MSG_SIZE_LIMIT = 0000100u201D under tuning category
    u2022 ICM Parameters: To consider ICM parameters (ex: icm/conn_timeout = 900000. icm/HTTP/max_request_size_KB = 2097152)
    This is required for allowing huge file size to pass through XI.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Michael,
    I did the settings you just mentioned in the link.
    I got through the First step where the file got processed and 50000 record data got divided into on 50000 idocs.
    But when its is posting this in BW system, then the outbound  status of the message is " Message has error status on outbound side"
    And when i see BW there are no idocs in that system. Is it that the RFC connection between XI and BW had timed out and so it did not got processed at outbound side. Or there is some other setting required ?
    Also, when we tried it with 20 K file then the outbound status is also successful.
    Please let me know how to  resolve this issue .

    Ravi

  • 10g CRS installation doesnt pickup Private interface

    Hi All,
    We upgraded a 10g CRS to 11g CRS few months back and due to multiple reasons we had to go back to 10g CRS.
    Unfortunately, we dont have the 10g CRS filesystem and any of the backups since it was done few month back.
    We cleaned up the 11g CRS on all nodes with below steps
    Case 2: "root.sh" already ran, then follow the step below - please keep in mind that you will need wait till each step finishes successfully before move to next one:
    Step 1: As root, run "/ora_grid/product/v11.2.0.2/grid/crs/install/rootcrs.pl -verbose -deconfig -force" on all node, except the last one.
    Step 2: As root, run "/ora_grid/product/v11.2.0.2/grid/crs/install/rootcrs.pl -verbose -deconfig -force -lastnode" on last node. This command will zero out OCR and VD disk also.
    Step 3: As grid user, run "/ora_grid/product/v11.2.0.2/grid/deinstall/deinstall" on any node.
    Rebooted the servers and started the installation.
    During the "Sopecify Network INterface Usage" screen, it is displaying only the public interface name ( en0 ) and not the private. Can you please advise what could be the reason behind this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rakesh

    10g CRS is rather old now. I assume you're talking about 10.2.0.1? I vaguely recollect problems like that with 10.2.0.1 CRS. There were many: problems with multhipath, problems with initializing disks on RH 5.x. One of the possible problems is if your public interface is in the private range (192.168.x.x). Are both interfaces plumbed? What is the output of /sbin/ifconfig -a?
    Other than that, I recommend installing 10G database on top of 11.2.0.3 grid. It is supported, you can install 11.2.0.3 CRS and then install 10G database to use that CRS. Do you need just 10G database or does everything need to be 10g? 10.2.0.1 is an ancient version, there are many problems with RH 5.x. There is no need to use 10G CRS, 11G will support 10.2. databases without a problem.

  • Forms/Reports 6i to 10g migration process

    Hello !
    I will start a process in order to migrate our currently Forms/Reports 6i application to Oracle DS 10g (Forms/Reports 10g). What I need to know in order to begin this process.
    For example: What Oracle Application Server my customers needs to buy ? and about licenses that they need to have ?
    Can someone give me a initial direction ?
    Tank you

    I would recommend using 10g Release 2 which is version 10.1.2.
    You will need Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2 for development and application maintenance needs. This distribution includes a light weight http listener used for testing applications while being developed. This light weight listener is not supported for multi-user access or production deployment.
    You will need Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 for deployment. If you only plan to use Forms and Reports and do not need additional security features or Identity Management (SSO, OID, etc), you can use the Forms/Reports Services distribution which is smaller than the complete Application Server installation. Refer to the following for more information:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10g/FormsReportsServicesInstallation.htm
    This document refers to version 9.0.4 but mostly still applies to 10.1.2.
    Do not attempt to use versions newer than 10.1.2 as they do NOT support Forms or Reports.
    Additional Forms upgrade information can be found here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/upgrade/index.html

  • Kernell parameters of Java stack

    Hi,
    I´ve installed an abap and java stacks. In the post-installation guide, explains that we should change some kernell parameters (146289 and 835474), but this steps I´ve done in the abap stack but in the java stack i don´t know how to check the parameters.
    How can i do this?
    Or in the kernell config of java stack is the step JVM Settings?
    More thanks

    Hi,
    With the Java system you don't have to worry about kernel parameters, the jvm parameters are important though and note 723909 is valid for your system as mentioned earlier. These parameters get set at installation, its worth just double checking them via the configtool (particulary the memory parameters). Note 723909 covers sun/oracle and HP-UX jvms, if you use an IBM jdk note 1024539 has the recommended parameters.
    Kind regards,
    Cathal

  • Process flow execute "complete" in Runtime Audit Browser but it hangs

    I create a process flow that contain 4 sub-process flow, each sub-process flow contains several mapping. Each mapping in the process flow will be executed one by one if previous mapping execute successfully. If any error or warning, it will be ended with "End_Error" or "End_Warning". And I deploy the process flow to the workflow server successfully.
    Sometimes the process will hang in some certain mapping when execute the process flow. After long time waiting, the status of process flow execution in Audit Browser will be "Complete", but in fact, the sub-porcess ended with that mapping and the next mappings will not be execute. This can be monitored in the Audit browser, as if the whole process "break" at that mapping.
    In workflow monitor, I found the workflow has not complete yet. The status of that mapping node is "Notified", not "complete". So I have to abort the workflow in the monitor.
    Sometimes when I try again it will be ok. If I deploy the process to another instance that in dw instance, it will also be ok. The dw instance use owb recommend parameters when we install db instance. All the mapping use the default parameters except "Default operation mode", here we use "row based".
    Can somebody give me some hint?
    Thanks.
    OWB 10g rel 1, db: 10g rel2, workflow: 2.6.4

    Hi Naidu
    Yes you are absolutely right. When you press the cancel button in the GUI, the runtime repository does not get the signal that he is been asked to stop and abort. The GUI cancels himself but the background oracle process is still on !!!. The only way to do is to kill the oracle session. Another way I tried to tackle is
    go to the directiry OWB/10.1/owb/rtp/sql and run the file @list_request.sql in sqlplus. Note that you have to login as runtime repositiry owner. After you get the audit id, run the file abort_exec_request.sql and supply the audit id that you obtained by running list_requests.sql. Sometimes it does not work also . Hence the best method is to kill the process

  • Error during Client Export err:

    Dear Experts,
    We are on 4.7 EE, Oracle 10.2.0.4 and Windows 2003 (32 Bit with 2GB RAM) (QLY system)and our database size is close to 600 GB.
    I have successfully restored my PRD data to QLY and now my QLY is running fine with no hiccups.
    I wanted to do the same to my DEV(which was on 9.2.0.5 now upgraded to 10G) but things are not moving good as expected.
    I first tried a database backup/restore which was not successful, then i tried a system copy from QLY--> DEV but the system copy failed due to some memory issues. Finally i opted for a client export which also is failing.
    All i assume is that the QLY memory is not sufficient for these activities. I have also set the parameter recommendations for 10G based on the SAP Note: 830576.
    The following is the error during a client export

    When i searched based on the SQL error 4030 i had many replies suggesting to increase my pga and other memory related parameters.
    Can anyone suggest me the optimal parameter recommendations based on the size of my RAM(2GB) for my Oracle and SAP please.
    We are in the process of increasing it to 4GB very soon.

  • Which Oracle version required for MDM 5.5 SP05

    Hi guys,
         I do have MDM 5.5 SP05 but which Oracle version is required or which is strongly recommended by SAP.
    I am having Oracle 10g will that work efficently or let me know if any other version is needed or any other patch is needed with this version.

  • Designer 9.0.2.8  vs  9.0.4.4

    Hi,
    I'm currently using designer 6i but plan to migrate to designer 9i. So I was wondering which are the main differences between the version 9.0.2.8 (9i) and the version 9.0.4.4 (10g) of the Oracle Designer.
    Which of the 2 version supports DB features like table compression, list/range list partitioning, bitmap join indexes...
    Thanks for any feedback

    I would recommend the 10g version anyday over the previous versions. If you use any of the other supporting apps (forms, reports, portal....) your already at a much better release :)
    Is there a reason you would want to use the prior version?

    If yes, can you please let me know how to handle it?

    Hi Saravana,
    it is not a best practice to more than 100mb..
    you can increase below parameters and so that you would be able to process for the best..
