Reg: DB2 Database growth
Dear Friends,
I want how do show database growth daily wise and monthly wise and Module wise?

Regards

The "module wise" is very difficult to archive. To what would you relate a material master data? MM? SD?

1) If the JBO configuration parameter jbo.sql92.JdbcDriverClass in not empty, then the JDBC driver class name is taken from there;
2) If the jbo.sql92JdbcDriverClass parameter is empty, then:
<ul><li>If the JDBC URL starts with "jdbc:db2://", then com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver
<li>If the JDBC URL starts with "jdbc:oracle:db2", then com.oracle.ias.jdbc.db2.DB2Driver
<li>If the JDBC URL starts with "jdbc:datadirect:db2", then com.ddtek.jdbc.db2.DB2Driver
<li>Otherwise, COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver</ul>
(Have a look at the source of the method DB2SQLBuilderImpl.getJDBCDriverClassName(String url) for more details).
It is seen from the log in your first post that the parameter jbo.sql92.JdbcDriverClass is empty. As far as your JDBC URL starts with neither of the prefixes specified above (e.g. your URL starts with "jdbc:as400://"), then you should specify the necessary JDBC driver class in the JBO configuration parameter jbo.sql92.JdbcDriverClass. (You can specify it in the AM configuration parameters or in adf-config.xml).

Saving Data in SAP and DB2 database
Hi All,

Regards
VEnk@Hi Jesse,
The Citadel database is not a relational database. It's highly optimized for storing lower-rate (non-waveform) channel-by-channel, or "trace" measurement data. Another option you can consider is using DSC and Citadel on the server then writing a utility to export the data from Citdael to an SQL database. --That would solve the problem of having to write a logger application from scratch. You would only have to write the relatively simple application to export the data from Citadel and import it into a relational database.
You could accomplish this two ways. First, DSC includes a set of VIs that will retrieve historical data from Ciatdel. You could use LabVIEW to parse this data and write it to a table in a relational database. Second, Citadel actually includes a locally accessible ODBC interface. (You can query Citadel using an SQL query from the local computer). You could query Citadel using this interface, then write the result to a table in a relational database.
To view Citadel in its native format or query a Citadel database using ODBC from a remote comptuer that comptuer would need to have a licensed DSC RTS installed.

Add a DB2 database file in different drive
Dear all,
I would like to add a DB2 database file in different drive which is added recently.
eg: existing DB folders in drive H, now we need to add new data folder from drive J
please help me on this step by step procedure, looking for the earliest reply
regards
sathish
65 96724662Hi,
what you have to do is to extend your tablespace with new containers on the new drive and AVOID REBALANCING !!!
Do do that, you can either use the "alter tablespace" command with the "begin new stripe set" clause, or use
the DBACOCKPIT to extend your tablespace and specify
a new stripe set there.
For details on the "alter tablespace" command see:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.doc/welcome.htm
and search for "alter tablespace"
kind regards

Tables not shown in connections tree for DB2 databases
Hi!
I often use SQL Developer to connect to our DB2 databases. However, when I expand the desired schema in a DB2 database, the Tables node is empty, although it should not be. There are tables in that schema and I can select data from them, so security is not an issue:
For example:
select tabschema, tabname from syscat.tables where tabschema not like 'SYS%' order by 1,2;
returns many schema names and table names is those schemas. Let's pick one, i.e table name METER_TYPE in schema METER ( there are 4 tables in schema METER)
select count(*) from meter.meter_type
returns: 38
However, the Tables node shows no tables. Tese tables are not Aliases (DB2 slang for synonyms) or views, however, those 2 nodes are also empty when they should not be - we have schemas with aliases and views, which are also NOT shown. The Index node is populated most frequently, but not completely (there are indexes missing).
Here are my details (don't be fooled by java 1.7, the behaviour is the same with 1.6):

For some unknown and probably pointless reason, forms converts the tree query to uppercase before executing it. This can cause problems if the sql contains any hardcoded strings. In my case I was doing something like
decode(status,1,'red',2,'green')||icon_name
this resulted in REDicon when my icon was actually redicon.gif -
How to determine database growth for new B1 instalation
Hello B1 people,
I'm working on the capacity planning of my new business one project and must know how to determine database growth. Does anyone did something like that before?
Wich tables should I consider?
Thanks in advance.Hello Gabriel,
I think it is difficult to make any predictions about database growth because this depends on the volume of your business transactions, the number of users, the continuity of your master data...
For example a small number of users can create a lot of transactions (accounting, logistics) with big documents like sales orders with more than 100 items, or a lot of users who primarily look up things but only create small transaction won't create too much data and thus influence database growth in totally different ways.
You should collect information about the volume of daily business to make any forecasts.
If you start with an empty database, the first big growth will be when you upload your master data, but if only few business transactions follow, you shouldn't use that first increase for your calculation.
Is this your very first B1 installation, or do you already have B1 systems running? If you use the EWA service on a running B1 installation on a regular basis, then you will get a good impression of database growth and transaction volume but you should only use this as a basis for your calculation if the business of the new installation is similar to already running company's.
Hope that helps,

Status metric for the OEM plugin for DB2 Databases
Hi,
I am doing some testing of the OEM system monitoring plug-in for an IBM DB2 Database. I am starting with some very basic alerts such as when an instance is down. However, it is not working as I would expect. When the instance is stopped using the command db2stop I would expect OEM to determine that the database is down. However, OEM reports a metric collection error and not the database being down.
Does anybody have any experience with DB2 databases and OEM?
Thanks,
ChristineBy creating Groups for specific targets and authoriizing access to these groups you can have users only "seeing" databases or certain databases and other users only being able to see certain Middleware components etc.

Issues with universes for AS400 DB2 databases
I create Business Objects universes and Webi reports accessing data from AS400 DB2 databases (via ODBC). I have a couple of queries that I have been having trouble resolving. I hope someone in the forum is working on a similar set-up.
My queries are as follows:
1. If I have 2 different libraries with identical set of tables (physical files), after creating a universe in designer based on the tables in one library, is there an automated way to create another identical universe pointing to or referring to the 2nd library? Every physical file and field structure within it are the same. The only difference is that they are located in 2 different libraries, containing different data.
2. For physical files with 'multiple members', the reports generated by Business Objects seem to only access the data in the first member of the file. Is there a setting where this behavior can overidden or by passed. I think 'multiple members' is a characteric that unique to tables in AS400 DB2.
Would really appreciate the help! Thanks!Since it doesn't appear the Online Capture for DB2 is supported, I am trying to work around this and do the Offline capture.
I copied the generated files from the Offline Capture option (startDump.sh,getForeignKeys.sh,getProcedures.sh, and db2v9.ocp)to the Linux box where the DB2 Database resides.
After connecting to the DB2 Database (DB2DB1), I entered:
sh startDump.sh DB2DB1 USRNAME USRPSWD
to run the script startDump.sh. It produced files:
Connect.dat
Schemas.dat
It also created a subfolder (DB2DB1) containing:
checkConstraints.dat
foreignKeys.dat
indexes.dat
primarykeys.dat
routines.dat
synonyms.dat
tables.dat
triggers.dat
views.dat.
My question is what do I do with these files? I believe the documentation said that file db2v9.ocp was supposed to be modified, but it wasn’t modified after I ran startDump.sh. Was I supposed to run getForeignKeys.sh and getProcedures.sh, or did startDump.sh already run these? Can anyone provide an example of how this is to be run? The documentation doesn't provide a DB2 example.
Note: The DB2 Supplement: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15846_01/doc.21/e15286.pdf doesn't seem to discuss the offline capture. It doesn't reference the startDump.sh file at all. -
Scripts To Check Database Growth in Oracle 10g
Hi All,
I need your help developing a script to find out the database growth in Oracle 10G on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
In our production database tablespace growth is huge and we are adding data files frequently. Management is asking about the database growth report and I need to present it. Is there any such script which will suffice the purpose.
My database version is 10.2.0.5.
Please help.

DB Adapter connecting to DB2 Database is giving Transaction Commit Error
Hi All,
I have a simple BPEL process in 11g which executes a select query through the DB adapter in the DB2 database
The below is the query
select column1,column2,column3 from table1 where column1='123456'
During the invoke of the DBAdapter I am getting the following Error in SOAP UI testing tool

The Datasource configured has "Support Global Transactions" option Checked and One Phase Commit selected.
Any help or pointers in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Nithya SubramanianHi Anuj,
I tried the Option 2 given in the thread which you have mentioned.
Our DataSource is targeted to the managed server so we just restarted the managed server.
I am still getting the same error of
"Cannot call Connection.commit in distributed transaction. Transaction Manager will commit the resource manager when the distributed transaction is committed."
Are there any other alternative approach to fix this issue?

Connecting Oracle Reports (9i or higher) to a DB2 database
Hi all, this may just be a newbie question. In Oracle reports, is it possible to generate reports getting data from a DB2 database? I asked this because the clients of one of our projects requires us to print reports on both their oracle and db2 databases. We were thinking if we should use Oracle Reports as our standard reporting tool for this. What do you guys think?
Also any good articles, docs and info abt this topic is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time in reading this post.
regards,
espiPersonally, if it is feasible to do so, I would prefer to export and import specific application schemas or tablespaces rather than doing a full export and import. That's more of a personal preference thing.
I wouldn't be overly concerned about moving to a different operating system-- moving to a different Oracle version is likely a far more drastic change. That said, there are a number of things in Oracle that are operating system and/or version specific that have the potential to cause you problems, so you need to do a thorough test. Well over 99% of the features are going to behave exactly the same, but every application of sufficient complexity seems to manage to find one odd-ball scenario where something changes between releases.

How to monitor the database growth?
Dear All,
How to monitor the database growth in SAP.
Is there any t.code available to check the same.
advance thanks,
Sundar C
Note: suitable answers will get maximum reward points.Hai,
You can check the database growth using tcode -db02.
and also use tcode-db02old(if the SAP is Netweaver2004s version) and click on space statistics for monitoring the datbase growth,

How to check Database Growth for a DB on ASM?
Hi there
I have been using the following script to check the database growth (for DBs on Filesystem):
SELECT b.tsname tablespace_name ,
MAX(b.used_size_mb) cur_used_size_mb ,
ROUND(AVG(inc_used_size_mb),2)avg_increas_mb
FROM
(SELECT a.days,
a.tsname ,
used_size_mb ,
used_size_mb - LAG (used_size_mb,1) OVER ( PARTITION BY a.tsname ORDER BY a.tsname,a.days) inc_used_size_mb
FROM
(SELECT TO_CHAR(sp.begin_interval_time,'MM-DD-YYYY') days ,
ts.tsname ,
MAX(ROUND((tsu.tablespace_usedsize* dt.block_size )/(1024*1024),2)) used_size_mb
FROM dba_hist_tbspc_space_usage tsu ,
dba_hist_tablespace_stat ts ,
dba_hist_snapshot sp,
dba_tablespaces dt
WHERE tsu.tablespace_id = ts.ts#
AND tsu.snap_id = sp.snap_id
AND ts.tsname = dt.tablespace_name
AND sp.begin_interval_time > sysdate-7
GROUP BY TO_CHAR(sp.begin_interval_time,'MM-DD-YYYY'),
ts.tsname
ORDER BY ts.tsname,
days
) a
) b
GROUP BY b.tsname
ORDER BY b.tsname; And I think it always gave me good results until I ran this script on a DB (10.2.0.5) on ASM.
Is it because databases on ASM are maintaied differently OR is it that most proabbly there has been no activity on this database in the last 7 days? I even ran this query for last 90/180-days and it still returned me following results:
TABLESPACE_NAME CUR_USED_SIZE_MB AVG_INCREAS_MB
SYSAUX 574.38 .36
SYSTEM 514.69 0
DATA 1593.25 0
IDX .06 0
UNDOTBS1 69.06 -3.84
USERS 96.13 0Thanks in advance!I have no reason to believe tablespaces under ASM are maintained differently, so the most likely explanation is change in DB activity.
What is your AWR retention? The default is 7 days, so if yours is set at the default then running the query for 90/180 days would not give you more information.
If you want to get useful output from your scripts, you might need to adjust the AWR retention and your SYSAUX tablespace respectively.
If the DB is monitored by Oracle Enterprise Manager(OEM), you can do tablespace forecasting based on the metrics collected by OEM. I did a presentation about this (NYOUG,VirtaThon) a while back:
