Reg EDI

Hi All,
I have one  requirement which has to be done in EDI.This requirement is sending sales order to other system using EDI to create purchase order there.I am new to SAP EDI could you please some body clarify my doubts.
1)Wha´t´s the minimum requirement that I should look for in Functional design. In the design it has been provided the idoc name orders04.what else I need to go ahead further with this development.
2)Is it requied to give the field names also in the design?or is it enough to have only idoc name?
3)Is it compulsary to know the subsystem name? Is both subsystem and middle ware both are same?
4)what details I should expect regading receiving system?
Regards
Mahesh

Hi
Lot of configuration is needed to send messages using EDI and it needs the BAsis help also to configure EDI subsystem amd to configure PORT and Partner profile etc
see the links
Electronic Data Interchange
Cross-company exchange of electronic data (for example business documents) between domestic and international business partners who use a variety of hardware, software, and communication services. The data involved is formatted according to predefined standards. In addition to this, SAP ALE technology is available for data exchange within a company.

EDI FLOW :
Here is some thing which helps you and here the purchase order is taken as example too..
Electronic Data Interchange, or EDI, is the electronic exchange of business data. Using a standard format, EDI provides a method of transmitting business data from one computer to another, without the need to re-key data. This electronic link can result in more effective business transactions. With EDI, paper documents such as invoices can be replaced with electronic transmissions, thus time is saved, and the potential for error is minimized. Data can be exchanged at any time. Related business expenses, such as postage, printing, phone calls, and handling, can also be significantly reduced. EDI can aid in the support of manufacturing efforts, such as Just-in-Time and Third Party Warehousing, and financial efforts, such as Electronic Payments.
What parts of the business cycle can be supported by EDI?
Any business documents that are currently exchanged using paper can be converted to an EDI. Standards. Standards include ANSI X12 and XML/EDI are primarily used in the United States, while EDIFACT is used in Europe and Asia.
How does EDI get started?
EDI gets started when one company contacts another expressing interest in trading business documents electronically using Electronic Data Interchange. The two companies must first determine each other's EDI capabilities. If you do not already know your EDI capabilities, we have prepared a questionnaire to help you determine them. If you are already EDI capable, we will coordinate with your technical staff to determine a testing plan. Upon completion of testing the EDI documents, the appropriate business personnel will set a production start date to begin the exchange of EDI business data. If you are not EDI capable, we recommend you first obtain a commitment from your upper management. Your company will need to allocate resources and capital for software, hardware, testing, possible programming, and training.
What is the flow of EDI?
The flow of EDI depends on the sophistication of your systems and your EDI software. If you have internal purchasing/order entry systems, you will need interface programs that can extract and insert data out of and into these systems. EDI programs that interface with your internal systems are preferred over software that requires re-keying of data. Embassy Software specializes in seemless interface between EDI and your back office systems. Using a purchase order as an example of a business document your customer would send that PO electronically (850) to you. It could be sent either through a VAN (Value Added Network) or through an FTP server. You would take that 850 and convert it either into and ODBC database, a flat file or XML document to be imported into your Order System with the use of EDI Software such as PassportXchange.. Using EDI communication software, which is part of the PassportXchange package you would pull down data at set intervals from the VAN or FTP. These documents are then processed through EDI translation software and output to our order entry system. Finally, an EDI document called a functional acknowledgment (997) is sent to your customer.

  • Reg : EDI Isuues

    Hi Frens,
    This is Amit.
I have created 4 message type having orders05 structure.
I have assigned 4 output type corresponding to Message type.
I have written 4 requirements for corresponding output types.
My issue is that when i am trying to issue output from vao2 , item level ..output type should come automatically to screen in the output screen.
I dont want to do it manually.
    Needed help.

    Hi Amitav,
So you can tell a lot from this info:
    > ZCAN 502 Output ignored (requirement 904 not fulfilled)
Your requirement is causing a condition record that would normally produce an output to fail.  Put a breakpoint in your code(and go back into change mode for the order) to determine exactly why.
    > ZCHG 541 Output found
    > ZCHG 544 Message cannot be transmitted more than once
The output condition record was found, but has already been automatically been determined.  One message has been sent so it wont send another.  If you create a new order (or order line as you said this output was at line level) it will generate a new one.  If you really want a new message every time you change the order (this can create a mess when users just change a text for example) then select the multiple issueing flag on the output condition type in SPRO.
    > ZCOM 541 Output found
    > ZCOM 514 No processing program defined for output ZCOM (medium A)
Output was found, but in configuration you need to configure a program to generate the idoc for this message type and output medium (A for ALE).  Again this is via SPRO
    > ZCRE 541 Output found
    > ZCRE 544 Message cannot be transmitted more than once
    Same as for ZCHG.
That should help you a lot with automatic determination.
    Cheers,
    Brad

  • Reg: IDoc is u0091pushedu0092 into SAP from the external EDI system

Iam facing one issue in our system for message type DESADV (inbound). please read through .
"When an IDoc is pushed in from the external EDI system & even though the inbound Partner Profile is set to immediate processing mode:
The IDoc stays in status 64 - 'IDoc ready to be transferred to application'. This assumes that the IDoc has not been processed yet and still needs to be processed with program RBDAPP01 (or via the “process” button in BD87).
We don't want to again run this program "RBDAPP01". What was the problem.
    I appreciate ur help.

    Hi Krishna,
In some other scenarios if an IDocs remains in status 64, it means that the processing within the IDoc engines did not reach its end, where the new status could be set. There are two principal reasons:
    1. In the matching partner profile the processing is not set to "Trigger immediately"
    2. The application that processes the IDoc abnormally ends with a fatal error (crashes). If this happened you will see a trace in the system log (ST22). In this case have the satellite system write the file to disk but you trigger the EDI_DATA_INCOMING. Then start EDI_DATA_INCOMING from SE37 manually and debug yourself through the individual steps. A good start would be to set a break-point in the application handling function (in your case: IDOC_INPUT_DESADV ).
    If useful do reward.

  • Reg- ALE and EDI

    Hi.
What is meant by ALE (and ALE-IDOC) and EDI nd what is the difference between them.
    Kindly expectimg replies.

    Hi Sathish,
ALE is a means of migrating DATA between SAP systems. You configure logical destinations, establish some migrating criteria and the system takes care of getting your data from point A to point B.
    EDI ->
EDI is described as the interchange of structured data according to agreed message standards between computer systems, by electronic means. Structured data equates to a simple and direct method of presenting the data content of a document. The method of ensuring the correct interpretation of the information by the computer system is defined by the EDI standard."
EDI is a technique used to communicate business transactions between computer systems of different companies and organizations. Note that sometimes the EDI mechanism deployed at a company is often used to interface to other systems within the same organization."
Info shuttle - "I was implementing EDI at a customer and I wanted some real data to test with in Development, so I asked the Project Manager to see if he could arrange something. Literally, 20 minutes later he came back and said that there were 10 new orders in Development, together with the customer master records related to the order, the carrier vendor master record, the material master records, ... were all there. I asked him how he had done it so quickly which led me to my first exposure with Infoshuttle, a tool that does this for you using the ALE functionality. As an ALE consultant I know how to do this stuff but I also know how long it would take to set that up.

IDocs act as data containers in an ALE scenario. They are just a format of storing application data and then transferred using ALE. Take a look at http://www.sapgenie.com/ale/why_ale.htm and http://www.sapgenie.com/sapgenie/docs/ale_whitepaper.doc for further details on ALE.

  • EDI/ALE reg

    Hi Gurus,
In our scenario, in Production sales orders are being created thro inbound IDocs.
For the same Purchase order it has created two sales orders with two Idocs.
When we simulate this situation in Quality, it is throwing error. But in Production it is creating another order.
What could be the reason. Pl.explain.
    Points are assured.
    Thanks,

What is the error you are getting and at which point in the process do you get it?

  • How to Send Purchase Order through EDI/IDOC.

    Hi Experts,
We are using SAP ECC.5. And intending to send the Purchase Order to Supplier through EDI/IDOC and Receive the Inbound Acknowledgement.
Appreciate, if you could help me, the required Configuration details for outbound and inbound (PO & Acknowledgement).

    Hi Kiran
Many thanks for the response. It is true that by changing the message type to EDI can generate idoc. What is not clear is any other config we need to do interms of Message generation, Resubmitting failed IDOC etc..
Out requirement is that we would generate the IDOC for New and changed docs and send to external EDI converter.
Inbound, receive the IDoc and post the acknowledgement.
Appreciate, if you could forward any document link which can explain the details.

  • EDI integration thru seeburger

    Hi Folks,
Scenario: ECC sends PO  (orders Idoc) 850 to PI and then PI sends to EDI subsystem using seeburger (AS2 protocol).
EDI system has to send PO order acknowledgment 855 to PI and then to ECC.
    1) whether Seeburger adapter supports synchronous scenario ?
    2) Please suggest some input reg. this.
    3)
Is it good for ECC integration with EDI system using PI (ie seeburger),
Please give comments on Pros and Cons (any way Seeburger adapter licence cost associated)
    a) in terms of time line with out PI , how it goes?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
If you have already PI System in your landscape you can definetly go for ECC ,EDI System integration with PI using seeburger.
Many customers implemented the same integrations.
Wiithout PI ,are you planning to use someother middleware???? if NO,then withput midleware its very difficult integrate SAP System with EDI System.

  • EDI: Partner Profile not active

    Hi
I have a Delivery and a message that should create an IDOC.Whenever i call that message for my delivery ,i get this error:
    EDI: Partner Profile not active
I checked to see in the table EDDP1 and the status is set to active.I also checked using the transaction WE20 and my partner was active there too, what can be the problem?
    thanks

    hi,
If your Receiver Business System is suppose BS_ECC, check in SLD what Logical system is maintained for BS_ECC. If for example Logical system for BS_ECC is ZLOG900 then check in ECC if in WE20 partner ZLOG900 exists or not. For ZLOG900 maintained inbound parameter for Idoc you are receiving in ECC like MATMAS.
Check the parameters accordingly in your system.

  • Converting XML Message to EDI

    Hi Experts,
I need a tool to convert XML message to EDI.

    Hi,
    Conversion Agent
    Purpose
SAP Conversion Agent by Informatica is a data conversion system that enables you to create interfaces between any data formats and XML-based systems. The Conversion Agent can convert unstructured, semi-structured, and structured formats to XML, and the other way around.
The Conversion Agent comprises the Conversion Agent Studio and the Conversion Agent Engine. In the Conversion Agent Studio you can develop and configure data conversions. The Conversion Agent Engine executes the data conversions.
    Conversion Agent in Process Integration
    figer here-
In Process Integration you call the Conversion Agent by using an adapter module. For this purpose, you must integrate this module in the module processor of your adapter. You can only use the Conversion Agent with the SAP adapters of the Adapter Engine.
The module in the sender adapter uses a data conversion statement to call the Conversion Agent Engine and it then receives the converted XML document. In a receiver adapter the source format is XML.
For current information and FAQs for the Conversion Agent, see SAP Note 894815.
    Features
If you want to use data transformations in Process Integration, you must perform the following steps after you have installed the Conversion Agent:
For information about installing the Conversion Agent, see Deploying and Using Conversion Agent and Getting Started with Conversion Agent.
           1.      Define your data transformation in the Conversion Agent Studio.
For more information, please see: Getting Started with Conversion Agent.
           2.      Configure a communication channel within your integration scenario.
    More information: Communication channel.
           3.      In the adapter configuration under Modules, integrate the adapter module CMTransformModule in the adapter type for your communication channel.
    ○       Under Parameter Name in the Module Configuration, enter the name TransformationName, and under Parameter Value, enter the name of the data transformation you defined.
    ○       The document to be converted must be in the main payload of the message.
    ○       If the document to be converted is in an attachment, you can use the PayloadSwapBean module to exchange the payloads.
    ○       The adapter module can be integrated in all adapters that can be enhanced with additional modules (for example, the SOAP adapter or mail adapter).
For more information about integrating the adapter module, see Deploying and Using Conversion Agent.
For more information about integrating modules in an adapter, see: Module Processor
For more information about enhancing the module processor, see Extending the Module Chain in the Module Processor.
