Reg: No Data In database view

I have created a database view with three tables  T001K , TKA02, T001W.
The view is consistent. But it doesnt return any data. I have checked it that common records exist between these three tables. What else could be the problem ?
Kindly help.
Regards,
Sri

Hello Ravi ,
The issue got solved. One of the conditions in the view was to check for null values. Null values seem to be represented in diff ways in diff database versions.
Thankyou.

  • Memory leak pulling in data from database view or database table

    Hi,
I'm experiencing memory leaks when using DI to load from a database view or table. I have seen the issue on 11.7.2.0 and 11.7.2.2 and was wondering if anyone else has seen it.
You can see the row count in the monitor tab going up, but with every 1000 rows it pulls in the al_engine process consumes more and more memory until it gets to 2GB and crashes with an unknown error.
Simlir behaviour is seen in the validation transform when doing and "IN" to another table, and with table comparisons.
I've got a webex with support tomorrow as they don't seem to belive that this happening and just want to get a heads up if anyone else was seeing this problem.
    Thanks

  • Urgent!!!!!!!!!!!Reg retrieving data from a view in the data base

    Hi All,
My problem is that i need to retrieve some data from V_TTDS which is a VIEW in the ABAP-Dictionary.How can i accomplish this task.

    Hi,
    this is a maintenance view
so you cannot write the select query
but you can write the select query on TTDS
    TTDST tables
as these are the two tables involved in this
this is the condition maintained to get this view
    TTDS     MANDT     =     TTDST     MANDT
    TTDS     TPLST     =     TTDST     TPLST
    select a~field
              b~field1
from ttds as a inner join
ttdst as b on atplst  =  btplst
    into table itab
    where conditions
    then it will work

  • Using database views in ADF mobile client application

    Hi,
I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and WLS 10.3.4.
I have developed a POC in ADF mobile client application both with and without synchronization. However, both work with entity objects based on tables.
I need to use database views instead of tables. When I try to include entity object (based on views) in the view object, it shows an error saying "Only the entity objects based on tables can be selected"
Please guide me if there is a work around for this.
Also, please let me know if there is way to develop an ADF mobile client application skipping the use of entity objects at all and using view objects directly to specify the database query and fetch data from the database.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi, Ansh:
Currently, out of box, ADF Mobile Client does not support synchronization against Database Views. This is because Mobile Server imposes some schema restrictions to ensure synchronization with multi-table views would work correctly. This schema restriction requires, for example, the view must have a primary parent table with key defined, and also all base table must be included in the data publication. These dependencies requires manual resolution and advanced planning, and is managed outside of the ADF Mobile Client/JDeveloper project.
To continue development, you would need to create server Entity Objects directly against the base tables. You can then create the mobile ADF Business Component (EOs, VOs, etc). You can then create View Objects in your ADF Mobile Client application based on the database views, in order to retrieve the data you need exactly. In other words, instead of basing EO on the database view, create View Objects in the mobile applicaiton to mimic what you had in the View Object.
Is there any other reason why you would need to access data via database views, instead of directly against base tables?
    Thanks,

  • Is it possible to retrieve the data from maintainance view?

    Hi experts,
    Am facing one problem.
Is it possible to retrieve the data from Maintainance View ,If yes how?
IF it is not possible then Y?
While am trying to retrieve data from maintainance view it's showing message like
"it is not a database view or table".
Can u pls give me ans.
    Thanks&Regards,
    Arun.

    Hi Arun,
It is not possible to retrieve the data from Maintenance view. Maintenance View is different and Database View is different.
Maintenance view : Maintenance view permits you to maintain the data of an application object together. The data is automatically distributed in the underlying database tables.
A standardized table maintenance transaction is provided (SM30), permitting you to maintain the data from the base tables of a maintenance view together.
In other words, Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.
Database View: Data about an application object is often distributed on several database tables. A database view provides an application-specific view on such distributed data.A database view is automatically created in the underlying database when it is activated.Database views implement an inner join.If the database view only contains a single table, the maintenance status can be used to determine if data records can also be inserted with the view. If the database view contains more than one table, you can only read the data.
Database views should be created if want to select logically connected data from different tables simultaneously. Selection with a database view is generally faster than access to individual tables. When selecting with views, you should also ensure that there are suitable indexes on the tables contained in the view.
    Hope this helps.

  • Diff  between maintence and database views

    pls  answer now,its urgent

    Hi
    Database Views
Data about an application object is often distributed on several database tables. A database view provides an application-specific view on such distributed data.
Database views are defined in the ABAP Dictionary. A database view is automatically created in the underlying database when it is activated.
Application programs can access the data of a database view using the database interface. You can access the data in ABAP programs with both OPEN SQL and NATIVE SQL. However, the data is actually selected in the database. Since the join operation is executed in the database in this case, you can minimize the number of database accesses in this way. Database views implement an inner join (see Inner and Outer Join).
If the database view only contains a single table, the maintenance status can be used to determine if data records can also be inserted with the view. If the database view contains more than one table, you can only read the data.
Database views should be created if want to select logically connected data from different tables simultaneously. Selection with a database view is generally faster than access to individual tables. When selecting with views, you should also ensure that there are suitable indexes on the tables contained in the view.
    Maintenance View:
Maintenance views offer easy ways to maintain complex application objects.
Data distributed on several tables often forms a logical unit, for example an application object, for the user. You want to be able to display, modify and create the data of such an application object together. Normally the user is not interested in the technical implementation of the application object, that is in the distribution of the data on several tables.
A maintenance view permits you to maintain the data of an application object together. The data is automatically distributed in the underlying database tables. The maintenance status determines which accesses to the data of the underlying tables are possible with the maintenance view.
All the tables in a maintenance view must be linked with foreign keys, that is the join conditions for maintenance views are always derived from the foreign key  You cannot directly enter the join conditions as for database views.
There are some restrictions for the attributes of the foreign keys with which the tables in a maintenance view can be linked
A standardized table maintenance transaction is provided (SM30), permitting you to maintain the data from the base tables of a maintenance view together.
Maintenance mechanisms, like screens and processing programs, must be created from the view definition with the transaction Generate Table View (SE54). This makes it possible to create easy-to-use maintenance interfaces in a simple manner.

  • Determine if database view column is foreign key in underlying table

    Hi,
I have posted this same question to the General Database Discussions and JDBC forums.
I am using Oracle database 10g (10.1.0.4.0 - 64 bit production) standard edition on Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3, JDK 1.4.2 and the latest Oracle JDBC (thin) driver.
We have a java GUI application that is a front-end for our database. Some of the data entry screens display data from database views. If a column in the view is a foreign key in the underlying table, we want to display a combo-box with the valid values so that the user can choose a correct value.
Is there some way to know whether a column in a view is a foreign key in the view's underlying table?
    Thanks,
    Avi.

I take that back.. I did figure something out for ya.. After reading some elses post I wrote this code... but its time to go home... I believe this will show you all the constraints and constraint types for the underlying tables of all the views for a user. You can mess with it and get it to return only FK (constraint_type = 'R') and only for a single view if ya like... The all_dependencies data dictionary view is the key to this whole operation...
    select con.table_name, ucc.column_name, con.constraint_name, con.constraint_type
    from all_constraints con, all_cons_columns ucc
    where con.owner = user and
    con.owner = ucc.owner and
    con.table_name = ucc.table_name and
    con.table_name in
    (SELECT referenced_name
    FROM all_dependencies
    WHERE referenced_owner = USER
    AND referenced_type = 'TABLE'
    AND type = 'VIEW');

  • Database Refresh with (data + metadata including views, functions etc)

    PROBLEM:
I want to refresh data + metadata (tables, views, function, procedures, packages, triggers, package body etc) from one database to another database.
Now if objects already exists in the TARGET database, then we have option as TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE for TABLE.
But, do we have any other such option for OBJECTS OTHER THAN TABLE (LIKE VIEWS, PROCEDURES, FUNCTION, TRIGGER, PACKAGE, PACKAGE BODY).?
Because I dont see any such option. Currently if the Object is already there in the TARGET Database, it errors out without importing as OBJECT ALREADY EXISTS statement.
As we have lots of migration, number of objects changes & new objects coming up in Production very frequently.
And due to this, we cannot put big list of INCLUDE and also even keeping that we have to prepare that list very often as number of objects changes very frequently.
Please help me with some better solution.
Thanks to all participants in advance.

I understand that you are Newbie , let give me simple steps.
Follow the steps on testing envi.
    1. Drop only Application users that you want to refresh from Prod(Do NOT drop users system,sysaux.. or tablespaces)
    2. Create the users that you dropped.
    3. using import or import data pump import the data.
In case you want to import user"A" data to "B" use REMAP_SCHEMA option.
See the below link for data pump export/import with examples.

    Hi,
From SE11 create the DB view and join the tables with the key fields
    Database View (SE11)
Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set.
In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.
