  • Export - Import in Oracle Application Database

The export in Oracle Applications Database works fine.
But the import always show some issue and sometimes never completes.
Even if it completes it complete with error , how to ensure an error free export/import ?
How to handle a table movement if the table consists of a LONG column ?

The errors are cannot import this tables..
Also mostly are of Long tables..Any IMP-XXXXX or ORA-XXXXX messages?
Can you explain how long objects are exported and imported ?What type of objects?
    What is the database version?
Are you doing a full database import?
Also sometimes import hangs for 2/3 days?Does it hang when importing a specific object?
Did you follow the steps outlined in the following notes when you did the Export/Import?

  • Cloning Oracle Applications Release 11i

    Hi,
for Cloning Oracle Applications Release 11i , is it ncessary to copy jre, oui and oraInventory directories from source database tier file system to trget ?
    Many thanks before.

Applications / EBS is discussed in this category http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=11 (and there are more, if you look at the forums home page)
But, in general the oraInventory must exist to be able to patch or otherwise maintain the installation. Wouldn't think copying directories is a supported cloning method... Again, check with the proper forum. And use the Search function!

    Hi,
Is there any information about when OAS 11i will be released?
    regards,

Definitely there will be some additional steps like creating ASM instances/diskgroups and converting your database to RAC.

  • Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database invalid username/password

    Hi,
Ou Requirement is we want to connect to Oracle Applications using discoverer plus and discoverer viewer.
    Application Server used : 10.1.2.0.2
    Oracle Applications : R12 RUP4
We have installed application server 10g with OID and when we try to connect to oracle applications we are getting
    A connection error has occurred.
    - Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password.
    Regards
    Ketan

    Hi,
I think better to check with your sysadmin or DBA on this, I had the same isuse before but Apps 11i with Discoverer, I talked to ERP sysadmin and worked fine.
Since applications userid cannot talk with Discoverer schema (eul10_us) and it should directly talk with APPS user and then APPS user can talk with Discoverer user.
To the best of my knowledge I provided.

  • Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs) after clone

    Hi,
I have just moved (clone using rapidclone) two of our 11.5.10.2 install from a solaris SPARC 8 to 10 . After the clone, while discoverer 10g works perfectly well in one environment, it is giving the error below in the another environment.
    - Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs)
    Notes:
    1. For the 2 environments, nothing as changed apart from the hostnames.
    2. The password has not changed on both - from source to targets.
    3. This happens when launching discoverer 10g from Apps.... discoverer works well on it own if not launched from apps.
I raised a SR with oracle and the 2 things they said have not worked. they said
    1. change signon password case parameter - but I cannot find that in the list of system parameters on our system.
    2. The other note says apply patch 6430269 and I can confirm this patch has been on the system for sometime.
Please advise on this if you have come accross this before and you can help here.
    Thanks

Thanks for your concern. I have used the notes you listed but no luck. One thing I have to point out here is that I have always cloned from solaris 8 to 8 for years without this problem. Now I am cloning from solaris 8 to 10 and the problems is on just one environment. The other is working well. The problem seems to be related to the apps password but the password has not changed at all. Also, I have tried to change the password to something else and ran autoconfig but no luck. Please help

  • Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0)

    Hi,
I am upgrading our Oracle EBS 11i database to Oracle 10g R2 as per note:362203.1.
In section After the Database Upgrade  --> 5. Implement and run AutoConfig we need to refer to Note:165195.1.(Section 8: Migrating to AutoConfig on the Database Tier).
Since I dont have the DB enviornement file, I created one by copying the envioroment file from Oracle 9i Home and replaced 9.2.0 with 10.2.0. I also created Apache directory under Oracle 10g Home and copied perl directory from Oracle 9i Home/Apache to Oracle 10g Home/Apache. This way I got the DB enviornement file for Oracle 10g Home.
Then I used the following command to create the DB Context File:
    perl adbldxml.pl tier=db appsuser=apps
    Then executed autoconfig using:
    adconfig.cmd contextfile=<Full path to the CONTEXT>
Is this the way I should do? Its working ok but I am not sure if my method is ok.
Plz suggest if some other method is there.
    Thanks.
    Thiru

This is a way I used to do it too. I am not sure whether it is the official way, but it works nevertheless.
Do make sure you run autoconfig afterwards, which will create a new environment file for you. Then stop listener and database, source the new environment file and restart listener and database.
I found some other procedure in order for you to recreate the environment file:
    1. On the application tier, Execute $AD_TOP/bin/admkappsutil.pl to generate appsutil.zip for the database tier.
    2. Copy this appsutil.zip to the database tier and unzip it into the ORACLE_HOME
    3. Set the following environment variables:
    ORACLE_HOME =<10g ORACLE_HOME>
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH = <10g ORACLE_HOME/lib, 10g ORACLE_HOME/ctx/lib>
ORACLE_SID = instance name running on this database node.
    PATH= $PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin;
    TNS_ADMIN = $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/<context_name> 4. Edit the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora file. Change the aliases for SID=<new RAC instance name>
    5. Modify the listener.ora. Change the instance name and Oracle Home to match environment
    6. Start the listener.
    7. From the 10g ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin directory, create an instance-specific XML context file by executing the command:
    adbldxml.pl tier=db appsuser=<APPSuser> appspasswd=<APPSpwd>8. De-register the current configuration using the command:
perl $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin/adgentns.pl appspass=apps contextfile=$CONTEXT_FILE -removeserver9. Rename $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init<rac instance>.ora , to a new name (i.e. init<rac instance>.ora.old in order to allow AutoConfig to regenerate the file using the RAC specific parameters.
    10. From the 10g ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin directory, execute AutoConfig on the database tier by running the adconfig.pl script.
Now you should have the officially created environment file.

I need a plan to implement an audit for this issue and a security method to apply to prevent this issues
and if it applicable how to create a database user like apps for the developer to recognize who is connecting the database
    my environment :
    DataBase : 11g R1(11.0.1.7)
    applications : R 12.1.2
I will be so appreciated for helping me
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can do it by Auditing the Database useing FGA(Fine Grained Auditing) and DBV(database vault) and for using those you need the licence for that.
however you can use some basic auditing
check the blow link for more deatail about the configuration.

  • Database Sizing for Oracle Applications 11i

    Hi,
I was wondering if someone could guide me on how to size an oracle applications database, we'll be using the following modules: GL,AP,CE,FA.
The operating system, might be windows 2000.
What I have in my mind right now regarding the information i need to collect is as follows:
    1. No. of users
    2. Estimated transaction activity for the above modules, and whether month
    end's are particularly transaction intensive.
And yeah thats how far ive gotten , hence the help needed.
About the transaction activity, how do i really quantify it and then translate it into something meaningful that will help me in sizing the database. Could I perhaps get information regarding how many transactions an average user enters in a day ????
Well basically any sort of input would be really helpful, thanks in advance.
    NM

Need to know the number of users as we can guess at the transactions level.
    Some base line assumptions.
    1. You need 1 Gybte of memory before you add any users.
    2. You need 10 Gbytes of disc, to hold the SGA, UNIX, Swap Space, Application etc.

  • How to start and shutdown Oracle Applications 11i?

Currently, I've installed an Oracle Applications version 11i under Sun Solaris environment. However, I encountered problems when I tried to backup the whole system for fallback purpose. I'm not really sure about the procedures in shutting down the Oracle Applications components. So, is there anyone could tell me such procedures, hopefully including the command used for shutting down the whole application system? Thanks.
Besides, I would like to know how can I start Oracle Applications 11i as a daemon? If cannot, how can I start the server within the UNIX shell? Thank you very much.

You will have specified a common directory in your installation, which is usually referred to as COMMON_TOP.
Under <COMMON_TOP>/admin/scripts there are a host of shell scripts for stopping, starting apps components. Also, under the database Oracle Home (816 or 817) you will find an appsutil directory with similar scripts.
Typically these two directories will be in your PATH.
You can create a stop script, typically as:
    adfrmctl.sh stop
    adrepctl.sh stop
    adfmsctl.sh stop
    adfmcctl.sh stop
    adapcctl.sh stop
adcmctl.sh apps/apps_password stop (wait till FND processes cease, a sleep 300 might suffice)
    adalnctl.sh APPS_<SID> stop
    addlnctl.sh <SID> stop
    addbctl.sh stop
A start script would call the same scripts in the reverse order, substituting stop for start.
