REGEXP works in PL/SQL not in Apex

Hi,
I have a regular expression that works in PL/SQL yet in APex it doesn't work.
1) Have to be numeric
2) Have to have 1-2 digits
3) Optional to have up to 1 decimal points
Can anyone please let me know if this is good? Thanks.
regexp_like(v_expr, '^(\d{0,2})+(\.[0-9]{1})?$')

In what way doesn't it work in APEX?
APEX runs PL/SQL, there should be no reason why it doesn't. Are you running this as a validation?

    And a secondary question, is there a better way to write the query (it's a copy/paste from an older query). That select within the select is ugly...

  • Why will a query work in SQL Developer but not in Apex?

    Here's a good one. I created a dynamic LOV with the following query.
    select
    e.DESCR d,
    ee.ENTRD_EVNT_SK r
    from
    PT_EVNT_IN_DIV eid,
    PT_ENTRD_EVNT ee,
    PT_EVNT e
    where ee.PGNT_SK = :PGNT_SK
    and ee.CNTSNT_SK = :CNTSNT_SK
    and ee.EVNT_IN_DIV_SK = eid.EVNT_IN_DIV_SK
    and eid.EVNT_SK = e.EVNT_SK
    and ee.ENTRD_EVNT_SK not in
    (select js.ENTRD_EVNT_SK
    from PT_JDG_SCR js
    where js.JDG_SK = :JDG_SK
    and js.PGNT_SK = :ai_pgnt_sk
    and js.CNTSNT_SK = :CNTSNT_SK)
    order by 1
    The query works fine in SQL Developer, but Apex gives the following error when compiling it in the LOV editor.
    "1 error has occurred
    - LOV query is invalid, a display and a return value are needed, the column names need to be different. If your query contains an in-line query, the first FROM clause in the SQL statement must not belong to the in-line query."
    I tried rearranging the entries in the From clause, but that didn't do any good.
    Do you see what I can do to make Apex accept it?
    Thanks,
    Kim

    The column named ENTRD_EVNT_SK is used twice in a select. Once in the main select and once in the inline query.
    The validation maybe choking on that.
    Try giving the column in the inline query an alias and see if that helps.

  • Working in Sql, not working in Stored procedure

    Dear friends,
    I am puzzled about this strange working of Oracle , although I know that there is some problem with my code. I paste my code here. The delete statement is working properly in SQL Plus 8.0, but it is not working when I call this stored procedure from the Form.
    FUNCTION delete_record_treaty (
    p_treaty_id T_RIN_TREATY_MST.TRTY_ID_GV%TYPE, p_value VARCHAR2,p_block VARCHAR2 )

    if v_treaty_type = 'QTA' then

    delete from T_RIN_PMTSCHD_DTL where TRTY_ID_MV=p_treaty_id ;
    end if;
    RETURN(TRUE);
    END delete_record_treaty;
    Thanks in advance.
    All the paramaters that I pass, are correctly being passed to this stored procedure.

    I solved it.One parameter I was passing it wrongly.

  • Granting privilege through role not working for PL/SQL

    Version: 11.2.0.2
    In our shop, we don't grant privileges directly to a user, we grant it to a role and grant that role to the intended grantee.
    Granting privileges through a role seems to be fine with SQL Engine. But it doesn't work from PL/SQL engine.
    In the below example GLS_DEV user is granted SELECT access on SCOTT.pets table through a role called tstrole. GLS_DEV can select this table from SQL. But PL/SQL Engine doesn't seem to know this.
    Reproducing the issue:
    SQL> show user
    USER is "SCOTT"
    SQL> select * from pets;
    NAME
    PLUTO
    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    Connected.
    SQL> create user GLS_DEV identified by test1234 default tablespace TSTDATA;
    User created.
    SQL> alter user GLS_DEV quota 25m on TSTDATA;
    User altered.
    SQL> grant create session, resource to GLS_DEV;
    Grant succeeded.

    SQL>
    SQL> select * From scott.pets;

    You really should start your own new thread for this question instead of resurrecting an old one, but to answer your question.
    There are two things going on here. First, there are a number of aler session commands that can be used by any user regardless of what privileges they are granted. Although I do not have the entire list at hand, things like nls_date_format and current_schema are available to all users, sort of like the grants to public in the data dictionary.
    Second, when you use execute immediate, the PL/SQL engine never really sees the statement, as far as the compiler is concerned it is just a string. It is only when the string is passed to the sql engine that permissions are checked, and there roles are not enabled.
    SQL> create role t_role;
    Role created.
    SQL> grant select on ops$oracle.t to t_role;

  • Unit testing PL/SQL used in APEX application

    question from my customer :
    I am developing an application in Oracle Application Express and am working on unit tests for the PL/SQL stored procedures and packages that are stored in the underlying database and that are used by the APEX application. These unit tests should run within the SQL Developer Unit Test framework.
    The problem is that some of the PL/SQL code stored in the database uses functions like NV('APPLICATION_ITEM') to access items in the apex application. These do not return any values when I try to execute the PL/SQL within the unit test framework, ie through the backend. While it is good that the NV function does not error, NULL do not really work well in my scenario either (for example when the result of this functions is inserted into a NOT NULL column of a table). I can think of a few workarounds, such as creating my own NV function inside the test schema to return desirable values, but nothing seems a really satisfactory solution. I just wonder if there is any best practice recommendation from Oracle for this scenario - how can I run code that uses APEX-specific functions through the back end. I could not find anything in the APEX documentation for this but I'd be interesting to know if there is any recommendation how to best deal with this case.
    I am using SQL Developer version 4.0.0.13.80

    User[[:digit:]*
    Your PL/SQL Package APIs are poorly designed.
    You need to take Tom Kyte's quote to heart:
    "Application come and application go, but data remains forever"
    In short, you need to separate your database processing code (the stuff you need to unit test) from front-end/middle tier code.
    (repetitiveness is for effect.. not rudeness.)
    As such, The PL/SQL code that you need to 'UNIT TEST' must work without needing to run in APEX.
    The PL/SQL code that you need to 'UNIT TEST' must work without needing to run in .NET.
    The PL/SQL code that you need to 'UNIT TEST' must work without needing to run in JSP.

    Again, I don't mean to sound rude.  I'm just trying to reinforce the idea that you need to separate database code from middle-tier/front-end stuff.
    Basically, you will need to separate all of your packages into multiple parts.
    a _CORE package (that will be unit tested) that does all the hard work
    an _APEX package for APEX infrastructure (this works with NV()/V(), etc.)
    a _NET package for .NET infrastructure when you need it
    a _JSP package for the JSP infrastructure when you need it
    a _JIVE package for the JIVE infrastructure when you need it
    a _<place latest and greatest thing here> for the <place latest and greatest thing here> when you need it.

  • Pl/sql region in apex

    Hi All,
    From sqlworkshop,
    I have created a view like
    CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW VW_SUB_CL_ADD1 AS
    (select a.siteid siteid,a.bpaadd_0 bpaadd_0,a.bpanum_0 bpanum_0,
    case when a.bpaaddlig_0 = '' then '-' else a.bpaaddlig_0 end address1,
    case when a.bpaaddlig_1 = '' then '-' else a.bpaaddlig_1 end address2,
    case when a.bpaaddlig_2 = '' then '-' else a.bpaaddlig_2 end address3,
    case when a.bpades_0 = '' then '-' else a.bpades_0 end place,
    case when a.cty_0 = '' then '-' else a.cty_0 end city,
    case when a.poscod_0 = '' then '-' else a.poscod_0 end pincode,
    case when b.cntnam_0 = '' then '-' else b.cntnam_0 end contactname,
    case when b.fax_0 = '' then '-' else b.fax_0 end fax,
    case when b.MOBTEL_0 = '' then '-' else b.MOBTEL_0 end mobile,
    case when b.TEL_0 = '' then '-' else b.TEL_0 end phone,
    case when b.web_0 = '' then '-' else b.web_0 end website,
    c.zinvcty_0 zcity,c.bpainv_0 bpainv_0,c.bpcnum_0 bpcnum_0
    from lbcreport.bpaddress@info a,lbcreport.contact@info b ,lbcreport.bpcustomer@info c
    where (a.bpanum_0=b.bpanum_0) and (a.cty_0 = c.zinvcty_0) and (a.siteid = c.siteid))
    but when i execute select * from vw_sub_cl_add1
    the case is not working. '-' is not getting displayed for null values even i tried nvl function it is not working
    when i use this view in apex for pl/sql region to display in the form of table .
    The problem is, when there is no value in the columns the table is not showing row and column in a proper manner.
    could any one help to overcome it.
    Thanks in advance
    bye
    Srikavi

    Hi Srikavi,
    From your statement, it looks as though you are retrieving data from an external datasource? I have had a similar problem - it's due to the ODBC driver not recognizing nulls properly. In the end, I had to do something like:
    case when xxx is null then '-' when xxx = ' ' then '-' when xxx = '' then '-' else xxx end xxxxx,
    ...This particularly happens with MS SQL databases and especially when their tables use char instead of varchar fields. The MSSQL table treats "empty" char fields as nulls but the ODBC driver doesn't - so the IS NULL value won't work on Oracle's side and the '' comparison won't always work on MS SQL side; hence having to check for all possibilities. The above may be overkill, but it did the job!

  • Sql problem in apex LOV

    I am not able to use this SQL statement for apex LOV, any ideas?
    select username, id
    from abusers
    order by decode(id,0, NULL ,username) NULLS FIRST ;
    I get the following error message:
    1 error has occurred
    * LOV query is invalid, a display and a return value are needed, the column names need to be different. If your query contains an in-line query, the first FROM clause in the SQL statement must not belong to the in-line query.
    Re: How to concatenate two sql statements?

    Hi
    Remove the semi-colon at the end.
    Cheers

  • SQL Loader and APEX

    Is it possible to use the SQL Loader within APEX? I want to have a table updated from a csv file... normally I would use the WWV_FLOW_FILES table, but with this file it mixes tabs and commas within the data, so creating a reliable upload script is getting to be a complete nightmare. I'd like to leverage the sql loader so I can specify the delimiter, optional quotes etc. The file will be in the same location on the file system so a scheduled, automated process would be perfect.
    If so, does anyone know of a tutorial that might help me out?

    I really hate computers. I do. I should know by now that it would of course install properly once support is engaged.
    It installed properly just now. I was installing to get the error message to send to you. No changes were made yesterday, it's the same schema, same options for installing. I didn't restart any services or reboot the server.
    It just works now.
    I've been working with computers since 1982 and their capacity for knowing when support people are around continues to astonish me.
    I am getting 'no data found' but I was really only installing it to get the error message, so I may have skipped a step.
    Thanks all for the prompt replies.

  • SUBSTR function working only in SQL developper?

    Hello,
    I type the following query based on what I am learning in terms of Single-row Functions and it seems to work in SQL developer but for some reason not in SQL Plus ? Can anyone tell me where i am going wrong?
    Select Job_title,
    SUBSTR(Job_title, 1, 10)
    SUBSTR(Job_Title, 11)
    from jobs;
    This is just to test the function's abilities and to see what it does but I was wondering as to why it doesn't work on the SQL plus prompt. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    Thank you"Doesn't work" is not an actionable error message.
    Please use copy and paste - copy your entire sqlplus session - full sqlstatement and full response, and post back here. If it returns many rows, we don't need to see all of them, just a representative sample.
