Related Content Service in HCM

Hi,
I configured a related content service for a custom page but unfortunately the related information does not appear for the page. Does anyone have any idea what am i missing?
We are running on PeopleSoft HCM 9.1/PeopleTools 8.50.

Help needed setting up Related Content in HCM 9.1 PeopleTools 8.51

I need some help setting up Related Content in HCM 9.1 PeopleTools 8.51.
I created a new service id in "Define Related Content Service". Its simple, it basically goes to google.com.
Then I assigned Related Content to Application Pages on the "Manage Related Content Configuration" page. I'm my scenario I added it to Careers right under the root menu.
Then I went to the careers page, but the "related information" link doesn't appear. How do I get that related information link to appears in the top of the component/page?

In order to get this to function, there are some baseline server configuration requirements that you need in order for it to work.
1) Define the authentication Domain on the webserver
2) Define the authentication Domain on the web profile
3) Enable Single Sign-On

We had a link to an external site setup via related content which showed up under the related content link as well as, when the page was loaded it displayed as an item at the bottom of the page that when clicked, would expand and load the page. I cannot figure out how to get it to load when i open at the bottom of the page automatically. anyone tellme how this is done?

Hi, if I understand you correctly you need to navigate to Portal > Related Content Service > Mange Related Content Service, click the Edit Configuration button for your service and ensure you have the correct default service selected in your grid and the Open Services in expanded view checkbox just under the grid checked.

How to determine a Bidirectional relation when add a related Content in UCM

i want to use "ADD_RELATED_CONTENT" service that are defined within the LinkManager Component.
i use the following parameters in my code and it works fine

what i want to do:
- add a related content of type Cross-Reference Class (dLinkTypeID=4) with Bidirection relation not unidirection. The above code add a content as a unidirection relation.
is there is any specific parameter that i need to specify in order to determine the Bidirectional relation?

actually am working on related content services; handle them thourgh (JAVA + RIDC).My general recommendation is: turn on server-wide tracing on requestaudit (or perhaps sometimes even services) - see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10792/c03_processes.htm#CSMSP535 how to do that, perform the scenario from GUI, and check what's being called. Often, you will find your answer there.

8.50 Related Content External URLs

The related content service definition in 8.50 allows parameters to be passed on an external URL. eg. http://myweb.site.com/?parm1=foo&parm2=bar
What I need to do is pass parameters in this form http://myweb.site.com/foo/bar
Anyone got any ideas how I could do this without writing an Iscript?

I assume the IScript solution would be akin to a proxy where the IScript uses %IntBroker.connectorrequesturl to proxy the request or it would use %Response.RedirectURL to transform the querystring into a folder spec URL. The only alternative I can think of is to use a JSP/Servlet/ServletFilter to perform the same function. With JSP, etc, at least you would only have the web server tier, not the app and db server tiers as well. This might cut down on some overhead.
It would be nice if there was some type of pluggable App Class URL generation Meta data that would allow you to write your own URL generation app class for this type of case.

Recover a single file in Content Services

I've been asked to document how we would go about recovering a single file in Content Services. The Trash/Archive angle I'm clear on, but what about an extreme case. Lets say that someone created a file, trashed it, emptied the trash, and then it expired from the Archive before the user realized that they needed the file.
Is it possible, and if so how would one go about getting the file back assuming that there is a full db backup once a day?
Would enabling BFILE aging help? If so, how?
On a related note: If archive is set to expire content after 1 month, but BFILE aging is turned off, when does deleted content get purged from the Archive? It's not 1 month, as I have deleted files in the Archive going back to January.

Archive expiration and BFile aging are orthogonal. BFile pushes the LOBs of documents that are in the archive to bfile. Archive expiration deletes files from the archive after the configured time. If this is not the behaviour you are seeing please file a TAR and they can help check whether your system is configured correctly or if you are running into a bug.

Financial Reporting 9.3.1 error with related content

Hi All,
I need some help with the below issue please:
We are on 9.3.1. We have a financial reporting report which contains related content that opens up in a new window and pulls an Interactive Reporting bqy. The data in the related content report is fine however once the related content window is open we cannot open anything else in the repository and get the following error:
2108: The object requested: [Hyperion Financial Reporting/Finance Reports/1. Financial Management Reports/SUGLR053] does not exist in the repository.
We must log out and log back in in order to be able to open any reports in the repository.
The related content window seems to cause this error. If we open the same first report but dont drill down to related content then everything works fine.
Has anyone come across this?

Hello,
I have also experience this issue in two different 11.1.1.3 environments and as you have stated, clearing the cache/deleting cookies resolves this issue. I was just wondering where I could find more information on the bug that you specifiec (Oracle Bug ID: 6900417). I have not been able to find any information on the web or within oracle concerning this bug number. Could you please provide more detailed information so that I can understand the issue better? Also, do you know if there is a fix for this issue instead of just a work around? Thank you in advance for your help and information.

Related Content Field Mapping using "Page Field" mapping type

In PeopleBooks it refers to a Page Field mapping type whene mapping fields from the component to it's related content.
Is this a misprint in PeopleBooks, did this feature not make it into 8.50.09 or is this option only available under certain circumstances.
I'm trying to pass a non key field from level 0 to the rel content url.

Thanks for the reply.
It appears that you can't select the "Page Field" mapping type unless you have the related content specified by PAGE ratehr than component.
PBOOKS states Page Field: use when you want to map the service parameter to any level 0 page field.
In the component buffer fields in level 0 could be any page. I was hoping to pass ANY level 0 field through to the Rel Content URL for any page in this component.

Linking to related content from WA document

Is there anyway create a related-content link to an FR document from within a WA dashboard, without having the link placed within a grid cell? I would ideally like to use a button, but the "Open Document" services button only allows me to link to another WA document, not FR.
I'm working in WA Studio on Hyperion System 9.
Appreciate any tips.

You can use the "External Browser" service button there you have to paste the link of the FR report which can be copied from the workspace.

Content Services 10g Versioning - more questions

Can anyone clarify the following?
1) While a link can point to a specific version of a file or the latest version of a file... can it point to the latest RELEASED version of a file as well?
Example: Latest Version ( work in progress, not approved yet ) needs to be visible to engineers working on the project, Config Management Team, Customers/Suppliers for review, etc. I might create a folder with links back to the latest version of all files related.
Latest Released Version needs to be visible to Shop Floor Users which refer to the documents on how they should manufacture a part. A Supplier might have a folder to links to the latest RELEASED version of the all files they work with.
2) Since everything is an Item, can items such as folders themselves be versioned? Or just real files?
Example: 12 documents comprise a Customer Evaluation packet. These are all in a folder. The Packet has a Revision of "2". Now we change one of the documents in the packet, and add a new document to the packet. The Packet now has a Revision of "3".
Traditionally I've seen this done by "zipping" the files together into one big file, and checking that in/out. But that's very clumsy because the packet may be 150 MB in size... and if all one wants to do is a file 50K file to the packet, doing that across the Web cross country can be fairly painful. Or are ZIP'd files directly exposable in the interface in a way that versioning can still be accomplished without copying the whole 150MB back and forth, to change one item in the zip file?

Hi Karl,
1) You cannot do this with Links. You could however do it with a category e.g. 'Technical Spec' that has a status attribute. The default of the attribute would be 'DRAFT', but before checking in the RELEASED version you change the status attribute to 'RELEASED'. Any user can get the list of 'RELEASED' documents that are available to them with a simple search.
2) Content Services 10g doesn't support versioning of folders.

Related Content component not working

I have this component in the list of Enabled components on my Oracle CMS, but I am not able to execute this service.
I don't see any related content links information in the doc info page.
Should I try to disable and enable the component or completely reinstall it.
If I do reinstall it , would the content that are related to each other still retain their associations?

Yes the FXP file worked. There is something about my project that Flex doesn't like.
I do not get any errors like those described in the bug. It just doesn't do anything when you type the dot.
I do have a library from a loaded swf, but it all works. I also described my project to have two component directories. Please see previous post.
Could this be the problem?
And, could you please tell me how to find my "workspace" directory.
And, one more thing...
Could you please let me know how to "try a clean workspace". I'm tempted to merely delete the project, leaving the files, then re-import.

Related Content does not display on the name change page

Hi all,
Currently, i am doing some research for the related content. I find that delivery configuration has been on the Name Change component (self service). Then I do the security configuration but the related content option does not display on the name change component. No idea which step next i should take.
Please advise.

What do you mean by my two nodes are all local.
Are you trying to use Related Content within one environment?
Make sure you have an authentication domain set on your webprofile and that your hosts file reflects this.
Make sure there is no proxy or firewall in the way.
Make sure Integration Broker is setup correctly.
Try pinging your server including the authentication domain.
Try looking for log files in the application server and errorLog.html in the Webserv folder.
