Remote config

I'm trying to re-configure an airport express over WAN using the airport admin utility.
I know the IP (static) of the remote Express and I know that remote admin and SNMP are enabled. I also know the admin password.
I can do a traceroute to the Express, so I know that it is on.
When I try and connect using the Airport Admin Utility, I get a 'unable to read configuration' error message.
Any ideas how to do this?

Thanks RichB,
I have a direct connection between myself and the remote AE. No firewall running on my machine and no NAT/Router in the way. I have a static IP as does the remote AE.
Little snitch detects that I am trying to connect to TCP port 5009 and UDP port 161, which I allow. The admin tries to connect but always fails.
I know the remote AE is working as I can ping it and traceroute to it. Ping times are approx 155ms, so latency shouldn't be an issue. I know the admin password as I set it up and I know that remote access is enabled.
looks like I'll have to get someone on the LAN to access it, as it will not work from the WAN.

  • SSL Flex Remote Object - no remoting-config file

I realize that this topic has been discussed a lot, and I think
I have the solution figured out.
The problem is that I have to edit the remoting-config file - and there isn't one!
I've hunted high and low on the server, and I just don't have the file.
We are using Coldfusion                                      8,0,0,176276   Enterprise, and I have an instance for my flex applicaitons (we have multiple instances running, and none of them have the file).  The server is running on a Solaris VM.
How do I fix this problem??
    Thanks!
    Jenn

My context root is specified as the default "/" When I remove the context root variable from the services-config.xml, it can't find the file. I don't know where I can change context root, but I am confused as to what it should be, regardless.
Add the -context-root to the compiler options, just like -services and set it to an empty string
    -services="/Applications/JRun4/servers/cfusion/cfusion-ear/cfusion-war/WEB-INF/f lex/servics-config.xml" -context-root=""

  • Remote Config question - Newbie :)

I have an Intel Xserve and I am taking it to my co-location facility to mount it and it has a fresh install of Leopard. How do I configure it remotely if it has not been assigned an IP address?
Is it best to boot it at my office and configure it with all the IP addresses and then take it over and mount it?
Sorry to sound lame but I know older versions of server had issues with IP addresses and I want to do this correctly.

If they have DHCP active at your colocation facility you can use the address it is given to connect and configure using admin tools.
It may be better to set up a dummy network to test and install.

  • Remote config 7900 series Phone?

    Hello everyone,
    Happy China National Day !
How do I TELNET / SSH configuration 7900 series Phones ?
Some  Phones in reach far away places, I want to remotely turn [alternative TFTP] option.
    Thx~
    Online waiting...

That'll depend entirely on the model of your phone & the firmware running.
79X0 will support SSH, for example, when I load SIP firmware. I don't know if SCCP is allowed.
When you are able to SSH (only), you can do some show, debug, etc. mYou can also do some limited configurations but you CAN'T set the directory of the call buttons.

    Hi,
I'm using arch (kernel 3.16.0-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT x86_64 GNU/Linux), a TechnoTrend USB IR Receiver and my custom remote (not covered by existing configs). Please help me .

You are not able to get the returned value because if you see the Remote object help you will realise you have to use result="resultfn()" and fault = "faultfn()"
In this you define what you wish to do.
More importantly in the remote object you need to define which method you wish to call using the method class like this
    <mx:RemoteObject id="remoteObj" destination="sro" result="r1" fault="f1"  >
         <Method name="javaMethodName" result="r2" fault="f2"/>
    <mx:RemoteObject>
r2 is the function where you get the result back from java and can use it to send the alert.

  • AppleTV no longer accepts new 3rd party remote

I got a new UVerse remote since the old one went belly-up.  I wanted to program the new one with the AppleTV.  The AppleTV would not accept input from the remote.  I messed with all the remote configs, and deleted one that WAS working for my Harmony remote.  It would no longer accept a connection from the Harmony.  I wiped the AppleTV back to factory, and it still tells me it cannot get a signal from either the UVerse remote or the Harmony remote.
Whenever I try to program, and click on the "Up" button, the light blinks, and the AppleTV beeps.  So, it is clearly getting the signal, even though it says it isn't.
I feel like I am missing something very simple, or one of the most recent updates broke something.

I know how you feel. I have (2) apple TVs. I think I upgraded a couple of weeks ago, Ill check my version tonight. But I get loooooooooooooooooooooong pauses when I go to my "artists" section under music. Its like it locks up for a minute or 2. Then finally list all my artist. I have 20,000 tracks, but Im not streaming.
I agree apple dont release an update unless you know theres its perfectly bug-free version. There just too eager in recieving those movie revenues to care anymore it seems.

  • Secure Flash Remoting from main.asc not returning a result

Hi, Iv got a problem here that could be Flash Remoting or
    Flash Media Server related
I have created an application that uses flash media server
    and flash remoting.
For authentication in my app I used Kevin Towes suggested
method "Secure Authentication with Flash Communication Server:
Using Tickets and Flash Remoting MX." His article is here
    Download
    PDF Here
    Now to the problem...
My application has no problem connecting to coldfusion using
flash remoting with the defaultGateway url set to
    "https://www.mysite.com" (ie over SSL)
However In main.asc, on the Flash Media Server
When Flash Media server attempts to validate the login by
connecting to CFMX using flash remoting it gets no response when
using a secure gateway url. If I set the default gateway url to
    just
    http://www.mysite.com it works
    great.
Why do I not get any response when using https as my gateway
    url from Flash Media Server?
    thanks

Sounds like you need to enable mappings for your remoting
gateway. I'm not sure if it's the same as Flex, but here's what you
might need to do, or something similar...
    In c:\cfusion8\wwwroot\WEB-INF\flex\remoting-config.xml (or
wherever CF is installed) look for the <use-mappings> node
and set the value to true. You will need to restart CF

  • Flex/Air and Web Services/Remote Objects

If I'm calling a web service operation, either through the
mx:webservice or mx:remoteobject tags, do I need to configure my
Flex or Air project (I'm using the latest Flex Builder IDE) with
the "use remote object access service" when creating the project?
When do I need to configure services-config.xml or
    remoting-config.xml?
Can't I simply call a web service operation by specifying the
endpoint (if using mx:remoteobject) or the wsdl location for the
service and then invoking one of its methods? I'm having a very
difficult time consuming a web service through either method (even
on my own local ColdFusion 8 developer instance) and need some
assistance. I've looked all over the internet for help, but, so
    far, without success.
    Thanks,
    -Jose

You do not need to specify any server to use any of the RPC
    protocols.
Have you looked at an example?
You have not said what problems you are having.
Be aware of crossdomain security issues.

  • Clarification on services-config.xml files for RemoteObject services

I am currently preparing an AMFPHP environment for exchanging
data with Flex and AIR applications. I can connect to the services
via Netconnection, but using RemoteObject won't work.
Documentation for the necessary configuration files
(services-config.xml, remoting-config.xml and the like) is, um,
sparse and seems to be slightly incorrect or misleading at times.
So I'm looking for clarification about
changes in the syntax of services-config.xml · in
examples for Flex 2.01, there are "class" attributes with values
beginning with "flex.", in Flex 3 examples the attribute name has
changed to "type", values beginning with "flex." have mostly
vanished and been replaced with similar looking values beginning
with "mx.". Are "flex." and "mx." prefixes interchangable?
correct syntax for linking other files into
services-config.xml · the livedocs state that Adobe
prefers linking files into services-config.xml (using something
    like <service-include file-path="remoting-config.xml"/>)
instead of defining all service parameters there. But in the
example from the Flex 2.01 livedocs, the root element of the
service-config.xml file is <services> instead of
<services-config>. Assuming that <services> is meant as
    a
child of the <services-config> root element, there
seems to be a mandatory <service> child element missing.
That's either intended, illogical, and misleading, or simply
    erroneous.
which classes are still valid in Flex 3, which have changed?
    · Most of the examples for using RemoteObjects out there are
    for FlexBuilder 2 (e.g.
    here)
and don't seem to work with FlexBuilder 3 Beta 2. But there is no
statement to be found in the Flex 3 documentation about what has
    changed.
a meaningful example for services-config.xml · In the
Flex 3 Beta 2 documentation here are plenty of references to using
services-config.xml, as I can find even information about the
ServerConfig class in the ActionScript 3 Language Reference, a sort
of wrapper class for the information provided in
service-config.xml, but there is no information about what
    constitutes a
working service-config.xml configuration (which XML tags of
what names containing what attributes need to be present).
As I'd really like to create cutting-edge Flex and AIR OCC
applications, I'm eager to have those ambiguities clarified.
    Best regards,
    Cathness

From the docs it looks like this is used for web services as
    well:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/201/html/dataservices_config_100_3.html#260186
If this isn't the right config file, which file should I be
    looking at?

  • Retrieving the remote IP when using Flex Remoting over RTMP

    Hello,
I am trying to retrieve the IP address of a user making a Java call to my service defined in remoting-config.xml
If i setup an AMF channel I can use the folllowing to retrieve the remote IP address:
    String ip = FlexContext.getHttpRequest().getRemoteAddr();
But when i try to do the same over a RTMP channel I get a Java exception because the object that RTMP uses to fake a httprequest doesn't implement that function.
How do i retrieve the IP of the user making the call in this case? It has to be somewhere or the server wouldn't be able to send a reply to the client, but i haven't been able to find it.
    Constantijn Visinescu

I tried all of your ideas and still no luck (see below). One thing I forgot to mention was that when using Internet Exploier to view the web page on another computer I can see the document title (AKA- VI name) and the header I typed in. But where the vi should be I have the missing picture Icon (the one you see when a web page has a bad link to an image). Image will show up on sever computer when I click preview web page. Is there anything that the receiving computer needs to have other than the run time code?
TST – I have found that the start web sever button will gray out if  you goto tools options web server configuration then manual check the enable web server check box. So that wasn’t it.
Soroush- I set up computer to be a server using control panel (I didn’t know you could do that) thank for the ini file I will update mine
Thoskins- I change port number and the still didn’t work
