Remote EUL Creation

Hi,
I am new to Discoverer and had a couple of queries:
1.) Is it necessary to create a EUL on every target DB instance or can we have a centralized EUL layer with "remote EUL's". i.e. we have an existing installation on the EBS database and were wondering if it is possible to connect to another db instance (B2B) without having to create a EUL layer on the B2B db instance.
2.) Is it possible to pull data from multiple database instances and collate them in a single report ?
We wanted to avoid DB links as there may be SOX compliance issues. Please let me know if anyone has implemented something similar.
regards,
Narayanan

Rod,
Can you speak more to your method? Are you saying that you would use a DB Link to call the data from the non-EUL databases and bring that into your local EUL database?
Furthermore, the user who posted this mentions SOX compliance issues - not sure what those would be but you mentioned you had setup link where GL Security was used on the remote database. Is this the same for the HR Security calls as well? How did you go about doing this?
As you may know from some of my prior posts, we are trying to build in infrastructure to have materialized views used for reporting. Currently, we have 103 MVs that take about 2 hours to refresh daily. They are on Database B. On our initial database, lets call it Database A, it has the EBS, Apps and EUL installed on that local database.
From what the user was saying, I interpret it in one of two ways: They want to use an EUL on another database (remote) or use data from another database (remote) on their EUL/EBS setup (local).
If that is correct, did you simple achieve your results by saying - GET data from Database B via DB Link on Database A. Connect to Database A in Discoverer and using the GL/HR Security, pull back data from both Database A and Database B?

  • PROBLEM: Coldfusion/Flex Remote Project Creation

    Okay,
I have read these two threads and have looked everywhere, but
    still am stumped:

I have FlexBuilder 2 installed on my local machine. My
project, however, is accessed via a mapped drive to our development
server (and yes, we have MX 7.0.2 installed).
All of the examples I see seem to assume that CF server is
installed locally -- but, of course in this instance it is not.
When creating the CF project, I am assuming that I have to some
make connection to the remote server, so it doesn't make sense to
browse to the config file on my mapped driver (where I get the
    Invalid root error anyway).
I am tearing my hair out. I can't even do the easy-peasy
Hello World example that uses a cfc to return the string via
mx:remoteobject (remote connection errors). I have gotten to
Chapter 17 of the Flex 2: Training from the source and have bombed
in returning cfc data as the book, again, assumes a local
installation of cfserver (Server.Error.Request:HTTP request error),
and I have attempted another example that creates an xml doc (using
    cfxml) on the fly.
So -- either I am an idiot, or there is some huge gap in the
documentation somewhere. Is the assumption that all Flex
development will occur locally (which would require the
installation of a cf server on the local machine (if using a cf
back end)? Or, are are we supposed to somehow use RDS to connect to
a remote development server running cf? I have a successful RDS
connection to the development server, but that does not seem to do
    anything.
    Please help!

  • Webservice with on-demand remote picture creation

    Hi,
i definatley need an design advise.
I currently run an application which can create some images containing graphs. Those creation should run on-demand by a button, located on a website (with a underlying tomcat). The application runs in the background constantly, maybe on a different host than the webhost. For creation, there will be some parameters handed over.
What would be the best solution for this problem?
    Thanks in advance

I forgot to say, that didn't implement the connection from my background application to the website yet - sorry!
For my understanding, my application should provide a SOAP interface which takes some parameters,
and the image, which is created, is attached to the SOAP-reply message. The website should then contain a JSP or else.
Another thing is, that i don't want to have additional jar-dependencies like SAAJ.

  • Discoverer 3 EUL Creation Failed with ODBC DSN

    Hi,
I use the INTERSOLV text driver make a ODBC DSN, I made a
connection with this DSN in Discoverer AE 3.1.36,
after my login, it prompted to create EUL, I did it, but I
cannot select any user from a null userlist(at the next page),
finally after pressed finish, I encount a internal error.
    How to perform this operation?

    Check ML doc:
Cannot Create Domain During Portal 11g Install [ID 1097432.1]
I had the same problems, looks like you need to install WL 10.3.2 and not 10.3.3 as tried.
    Hope, this helps.

  • Doubt on EUL creation...

    Hi,
When trying to create EUL using eulapi, we get the following output:

What I cant understand is whether the EUL is created successfully or has errored out??

    Hi,
No specific objects to check as this schema should be empty before running this script.
Was there any log file generated? If yes, can you can any errors in this log file?
Did you try to use Discoverer Administration Edition command line "dis51adm.exe" to create the EUL and see if you get any errors?

  • Harmony Remote Package Creation

I am trying to install Harmony Control which is used to program Logitech Harmony remote controls.  This is my first time in using anything like ABS and at first I just tried to install from source.  So first off I downloaded the software and uncompressed it.  Unfortunately there is no ./configure.  I can run make ok but when I run make install I get the following error:
    /usr/bin/install -D --mode=755 harmony /usr/bin/harmony
    make: /usr/bin/install: Command not found
I assume that the directories that Arch uses are different or something is missing?  I haven't bothered trying to do anything with ABS yet because I figured I would at least need to get it to install from source first.
I guess I just don't really know what I am doing.
Should I be able to at least install from source using make install first before using the ABS package procedure?
the files and website for the app is located here:

You're dealing with a slightly-less-than-clever Makefile, which insists on running /usr/bin/install, instead of allowing for the possibility that the install command may be located elsewhere. Use which to find the command, and then patch the Makefile as required (sed would probably do the job either).
Once you've figured it out manually, apply the same changes in your PKGBUILD.

  • EUL Creation

    Hello All,
Can any let me know the standards which we need to follow while creating a EUL.
Also after creating a EUL can we import all the Standard BA'sat once. Instead of creating each and every business area.
    Kind Regards,
    Kumar.

    Hi,
Are you creating an Apps mode EUL for use with Oracle Applications? In which case you need to include the language at the end of the database user that owns the EUL, e.g. EUL_US.
Also you need to do all your administration, including importing Business Areas, as a apps user. The BI business areas shipped with Applications 11i can be imported using the scripts provided with Applications.
For database mode EULs all the business areas can be imported together once the EUL has been created.
    Hope that helps,

    Hi,
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Java plug-in -> (tab) Cache -> Click Reset and then apply.
After this try again to load the jars from the server. Also you might want to look at you security settings in your browser. Sometimes these settings prevent the Java client from downloading jar's from any server.
If you enter a wrong pwd it errors out..meaning it can connect and validate...Hence issue is on local machine.
On local machine reinstall j2sdk..so as to have a clean install.
Start java web Start to see if it is good.

Edited by: JDeveloper on Mar 8, 2011 4:51 AM

Yes, by setting the user time zone. Or not setting the zone at all and enabling the automatic DST switch in Windows Server (assuming you're on Windows).
If you enable the DST switch, then the JVM does not report "GMT+1:00" for example, but something like "Europe/Berlin" which is a TZ ID known to the database.
If I remember correctly, it works like this:
The transaction tries to read the time zone from the session's LocaleContext.
If that's not there, then it uses TimeZone.getDefault().getID().
The ID is then passed "as is" into the SQL builder method.
    So you could:
    - Change the JVM default timezone ID
    - Switch on automatic DST handling on the server OS
    - Put a different user timezone into the (BC4J) session's locale context
    - Create your own SQL builder and override setSessionTimeZone()
Do you still get the same exception and the same stack trace, even when you specify a user time zone? Strange!
Would be interesting to know what the SQL builder tries to set. Maybe you could create a tracefile or put the JDBC driver into logging mode and see what the parameter is.

  • Telnet using powershell

I have list of servers, which should telnet to an ip address to port 12232, and display the result as Yes, IF the server can telnet to IP address, or NO, when it fails.
How do I write a script in powershell?
    For Ex:-
trying to telnet 127.0.0.1 80 from Server 1, it should display yes or no, depends upon the response.
How do I have the same thing in powershell?
    Thanks for the help.

Ok, this is my approach. Not fully tested but I have used a similiar process before with good results. There are other approaches to this that would work as well.
Basically what I am doing is encasing the entire function plus command into a scriptblock. From there I convert the entire code scriptblock into a Base64 encoded string and supply it to powershell.exe using the -EncodedCommand parameter. This is useful when
working with complex code where you use brackets and such.
From there, a hash table is used for 'splatting' purposes with Invoke-WMIMethod to attempt the remote process creation.
The output object from this contains the returnvalue which tells me whether it was successful
creating the process, not whether the command script actually worked. If it is a long running script, I use Get-Process and specify the processid returned from the WMI command and use WaitForExit() to track its state until it finishes.
After that, it is just a matter of grabbing the CSV file that has the data from the remote system and viewing the contents of it.

  • Tutorials on Local machine

    Hi,
I was going through the Purchase Order tutorials. As I don't have another machine I was wondering if it is possible to run these tutorials on a single box ? I assume one would need to somehow simulate the remote trading partner. Any advice on how to go about this would be great !
    regards,
    en

    Hi Ramesh,
Thanks for the advice. Can you please confirm if I have followed this correctly. This is what I did:
    1. I Created two Internal Delivery Channels on my machine
    FileInbound (D:\temp\b2b\edifact\acme\in) and
    FileOutbound (D:\temp\b2b\edifact\acme\out).
    2. Followed steps mentioned in documentation in Section 5.4. here I followed the steps mentioned ONLY for the Acme server as I have only my local box. In the remote partner creation, I chose the following:
    GlobalChips
    Create Trading Partner : Transport
    File - 1.0,
    localhost
    D:\temp\b2b\edifact\globalchips\external
I assume the above directory would be used by Acme to send in PO's ?
Similarly for the host machine I created a directory in which GlobalChips would send in its acks.
    Acme: D:\temp\b2b\edifact\acme\external
    3. While creating the trading agreement I changed the default internal delivery channels from B2bInbound/B2bOutbound to FileInbound/FileOutbound.
    4. Copied the file "Acme_orders.xml" into the internal delivery channel:
FileOutbound (D:\temp\b2b\edifact\acme\out) This file disappeared after a while but nothing showed up in any of the other directories. In the error report screen I saw the an error with the following values:
    Business Action          Acknowledgement
    B2B Message Id          8D9043361151ACB32500000017608770
    Error Code          AIP-50032
    State               Error
    Remaining Retry          0
    Direction          Outbound
    Sending Trading Partner     Acme
Since I am new to B2b I must have messed up somewhere. Can you please point out what is wrong here or steps to run this.
    regards,
    Narayanan

  • Using unattend install files to automate the creation of Win7 pooled VDIs in 2012 remote desktop services

    Hi All,
I have a problem that I have been working on for the past week and hoping someone can provide the missing link for me.
    Background
We currently have a 2008 "VDI" environment with both personal and pooled Windows 7 desktops deployed to thin clients. We have just set up our first 2012 Hyper-V server and plan to deploy pooled and personal VDIs under 2012. I have been working
on the process and successfully created both pooled and personal Windows 7 desktops using the Remote Desktop Services and creating the collections.
I created the golden image and sysprep'd it (/Generalize /OOBE /Shutdown). During the creation of the Pool collection I manually inputted the Virtual settings (i.e. the OU, etc). I notice there is an option to supply an unattend.xml file with the answers.
We are deploying the pool into a computer lab in the school for the students to use. I want the pool to revert to the pristine state after the student logs off.
    Problem
When the user logs into the pooled desktop I notice that the activation for the Windows license has not been run. I am trying to use the unattend file to activate the license before the first log-in. Using the Windows System Image Maker I've install our
volume license key, but it does not activate. The only option I have to activate it is to run a synchronous command during first login. This can only be inserted in the OOBE phase. When the user logs in the license activates, but when they log out,
the machine reverts to the pristine state.
I confess I'm  newbie to unattend installs but I've been reading the docs on line trying to figure out how to change this behavior. I'm also assuming this won't be a problem with the personal desktops pools.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Please make sure to following guide like this link to deploy the virtual desktops
Windows 8 / Windows Server 2012: Pooled Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2012/10/31/windows-8-windows-server-2012-pooled-virtual-desktop-infrastructure.aspx
Regarding to activation, see introduction in this link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn645522.aspx
Which did you use? for KMS as an example, you have to activate the master\template VM with the Windows version specific KMS Key and make sure that your KMS Server is auto discoverable.
The snapshot on the automatically created pooled collection VM is taken before KMS activation is initiated from the guest OS. So the KMS activation would take place only after user logs on. once the rollback is enabled, the pooled VM will
rollback to clean state and may perform the windows activation again when any user logs on to the VM again.
And you mentioned that you're using WSIM and installed Volume License Key, (I suppose you mean that you've typed the key in the "Product Key Selection" in WSIM), but as I know, we should leave the product key blank if you are using KMS host
    for activation.

  • Remote Function Module for Vendor Master creation

    Dear Forum Members,
There is a BAP function module BAPI_VENDOR_CREATE which calls SAP transaction XK01. Due to this, this Remote Function Module (RFM) cannot be called from a Java Application that uses SAP Java Connector.
Is there any other remote function module available in SAP for creating vendor master record so that it can be called from non-SAP development tools such as Java using SAP Java Connector or Microsoft Visual Studio .NET tools using SAP .NET Connector?
    Eagerly expecting favourable reponse.
    Regards,
    K. Rangarajan

    Hi Prakash,
you can use FM 'VENDOR_INSERT' , However its not remote enabled you need to copy to Custom BAPI and make it as remote enabled.
Apart from the Vendor creation BAPI, you may need to use some other BAPI's for Adress updation and Bank details Updation.
Please refer the link for some more information [Re: Create Vendor;.  The same problem is mentioned there and was solved.
