you need to add a cross-domain permission file on your local server.

  • How Can I Get A Flash Movie to Access Local Files

I have a customer that has created a Flash movie to run off a CD.  The movie is basically a set of menus with links to access local files in the same directory as the movie.  i.e. Main folder (to be root of CD) has the movie, a Documents folder with PDFs, a Movie folder with wmv and mov files, etc.
The problem arrises when you click on a link to a file, a web browser is launched, and the browser tries to display the target file.  The movie was designed on a Windows system, and, mostly it works in a Windows environment, however, the links totally crap out on a Mac because the URLs are pc centric.
He is a rookie flash programmer so I am trying to help him set up proper links to the files, so that the files will (hopefully) launch the proper local app and not a web browers.  i.e. if the link points to a PDF, the Adobe Reader is launched; if the link is to a mov file, then QuickTime is launched....
Is there a way to do this?  All the tutorials I have found all seem to expect the flash movie to be running on a web server, and as such do not work when running the movie off a CD.
Any help or suggestions would be grealy appreciated.
A response ASAP would also be greatly appreciated as the customer needs to deliver 200 CDs of the project for a presentation tomorrow morning - I have to create the CDs...
    TIA

  • When i drag and drop an image on my site. it gives the following error. "Unable to access local files due to browser security settings. To overcome this, follo"

I am using the firefox version 17 and when i drag and drop an image on my website. It gives me the following error.
Unable to access local files due to browser security settings. To overcome this, follow these steps: (1) Enter "about:config" in the URL field; (2) Right click and select New->Boolean; (3) Enter "signed.applets.codebase_principal_support" (without the quotes) as a new preference name; (4) Click OK and try loading the file again. Or go to the homepage for a link to the tutorial on how to do it.
I have completed the above steps and it is still showing the same error message. Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Thanks kumars ,
I have a specific drag and drop area on our website. This works fine for all earlier releases of Firefox after these security settings
"(1) Enter "about:config" in the URL field; (2) Right click and select New->Boolean; (3) Enter "signed.applets.codebase_principal_support" (without the quotes) as a new preference name; (4) Click OK and try loading the file again."
Bust these settings not work for me in Firefox 17.
Yes the drag and drop functionality is java script based and i am not using any script blocker addons.

How do I resolve the issue Cannot open the file ".indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing , or the file may be open in another application?

Shouldn't the CC version be able to open any file created in an older version on InDesign?
    Yes, it ought to.
If the older file wasn't yours (if someone emailed it to you,or burned it on a disc, or whatever), then I am almost willing to bet you a beverage in the city of your choice that it's not a complete InDesign file. That is, maybe it was zipped and renamed, or the beginning or end of the file was chopped off during download, or something like that. The only reason I'm not actually making the bet is that there is a remote chance that I'd lose, and maybe you're in Adelaide or Khabarovsk or somewhere where the cost of airfare to me would make that bet a very expensive bet for me to to lose. So no latte for you if I'm wrong!
The script that Jongware posted will tell you what version of InDesign made the file to begin with. Additionally, if someone did something like rename YourFile.PDF to YourFIle.INDD, it'll report that it's Not An InDesign File. Because while SpectrumPCS is kinda right and that message can be generated when attempting to open a CS5 file in CS3 or whatever, it also spits out the same message when you just try to open an Autocad file, or a Windows system file, or a PDF, or any file that InDesign actually cannot open at all.

  • I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file

I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X  or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.

  • Reading files from local hard disk - Access Local Files Only

    Hi All,
I have a local flash file published as 'Access Local Files Only', to allow me to read from local filesystem.
What methods or classes can I use to read text and other files from the user's harddisk.
This is the first time I am trying to do something like this, all help is grealy appreciated.
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi, thanks for the responses
I did some searching and found that the urlloader class is the right one for the job.
'Access Local Files Only' option is provided for this very purpose I believe.
If anyone has done something like this and have some sample code it would be awesome
    Cheers

  • Getting error "Cannot open the file "*****.INDD". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application."

    How to fix this problem
"Cannot open the file "*****.INDD". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application."

When I have seen this message it is either when I try to open a document with an older version of Indesign E.g. an indesign 2014 document with Indesign CC.
The other time I have seen it is to open an Indesign CC document with Indesign 2014 which does not have Mindsuite - a plugin I use. Mindsuite, as yet, has not upgrade the plugin for Indesign 2014 therefore it recognises that a the document was created withe a plugin that the 2014 version does not have installed.
I believe your problem will be something like that.

  • Recovery in progress may need access to files error

    Dear all,
I was shown the below error when trying to drop a tablespace TBS1.
    DROP TABLESPACE TBS1 INCLUDING CONTENTS;
    DROP TABLESPACE TBS1 INCLUDING CONTENTS
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01156: recovery in progress may need access to files
i donot have any backups for the database, and the database was running in NOARCHIVELOG mode for the past one year.
The datafile associated to this tablespace is offline (actually the original datafile which occupied 33GB of space on the machine UNNECESSARILY was dropped, and this datafile /u01/app/oracle/.../datafile/MASTER_TBS1.dbf is created and associated with TBS1).
When I try to bring it online, the following error message is being shown..
    ALTER TABLESPACE TBS1 ONLINE
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01113: file 8 needs media recovery
    ORA-01110: data file 8:
    '/u01/app/oracle/.../datafile/MASTER_TBS1.dbf'
Now I need a tablespace with name TBS1 to import objects from some other database. (All those objects were defaulted to tablespace"TBS1" on that database.)
Please help me find a solution.
    Thanks,
    Aswin.

    You could do an
    ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE <fileid or filename> OFFLINE DROP ;
for each of the datafiles in that tablespace before you attempt to drop the tablespace.
Of course, be very careeful with what fileid/filename you specify -- you wouldn't want to drop datafiles of some other tablespace -- you wouldn't be able to recover them or bring them back online !

  • Accessing local files in Safari for Windows

I am trying to access local files, such as .doc and .pdf files. I have tried
file://server/dir/dir/file.pdf, and various numbers of slashes, but all result in Failed to open page messages.
Any ideas? IE can do this, Firefox won't (easily).

If you wish to view "local" files in any browser just drag the file icon to an empty browser window.
The "file:///blah/blah" stuff and a URL has ended for security issues.

  • Applet access local file

I have an applet that access local files and directory.
I have create the applet policy file.
When viewing with appletviewer, we can type:
    appletviewer -J-Djava.security.policy=applet.policy MainApplet.html
However, when I want to embed the applet in a html, how can the policy file be included?
    Thx a lot.

how can the policy file be included?Applets use the java.policy wich is located in the jre/lib/security
    (C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\lib\security)
There is a java.security where you can add or change the java.policy files to be
    used
    policy.url.1=file:${java.home}/lib/security/java.policy
After changing these files make sure the jre loads again, close all browsers
    and open the page.

  • InDesign may not support this file format message?

What do I do when I get a Adobe InDesign may not support this file format, a plug-in that supports this file format may be missing message?

Do you understand the difference between embedded (all of the image data is stored within the file) and linked (what happens when you use File > Place.... where a pointer to the file stored in the file along with a screen preview)? You must deliberately embed images -- there's no way to do it automatically. Pasted graphics are also stored internally.
As to why it no longer works? Probably a write error while saving, especially if this is saved on a network drive. Writing 9 gb takes some time, if the file was really that big and isn't cross-linked to something else.
To keep ID file sizes down always Place images and graphics rather than pasting, and do a periodic Save As to remove old change data that will become useless file bloat when you close the file. I tend to add a version suffix when doing the Save As at any major change point, rather than overwriting the original, as it gives me an automatic backup chain and a way to go back to a previous version if I need to move in a different direction.
    Do you have a backup?

  • File open menu will not open local files using open command but the same files will open if I double click them (permissions seem fine)

Under File menu Open File will not open local files even those downloaded to the desktop by Firefox 5.
If I double click on HTML file it does open
Reinstalled. Same behaviour. Default Browser set correctly.
    Permissions set correctly. Odd behaviour.

Are you sure it hasn't imported?
Check for the track names (trackname only, not Album or Artist)) and see if they have a blank Artist and Album, because WAV files have no MetaData, so are kind of stupid as far as knowing anything about the Artist, Album & track id.
You can't search by 'Untitled' either as there is literally, no name at all, but iTunes does pick up the actual physical track name in Finder and uses that. As an example, if you renamed your Aerosmith WAV file from say 'Toys In The Attic' to 'Love Song' it would import the track as 'Love Song' as that's all it can go by.
There are a few iTunes AppleScripts that let you import from a file of WAV music, by looking at the enclosing Album in the enclosing Artist as that's how most PC progs create the WAV file structure.
