Remove semicolon's in text output
I'm trying to output the content of BUS2089 GETDETAILS TEXT (FM: BAPI_TRIP_GET_DETAILS) into an email in a workflow.
It looks like this when called from BAPI_TRIP_GET_DETAILS:
TEXT TEXTLINE
TEXT This expense report has to be billed to Jim Smith's cost center(~
TEXT XYZ ).
When I output it in an email from a workflow with &TEXT.TEXTLINE[]& it looks like this:
This expense report has to be billed to Jim Smith's cost center(~; XYZ ).; ;
Any idea why it's adding the semicolon's and/or how to keep it from doing that?
Dear David,
Either debug the method independently from SWO1 by passing the inputs. Or if you have inputs for this method in such a way that they can be tested only in runtime then make this method as foreground by enabling the dialog checkbox in SWO1 by double clicking the method. Now assign a agent for this step & place a break point in the method in SWO1. So once you double click the workitem the debugger will start & you will be able to guess what values are coming wrong.

Add/Remove Programs - export to text file?
Hello,
I am wondering if it is possible to export a list of everything in add/remove programs to a text file for inventory purposes.
I have not found any easy method to do this short of copying reg files or installer 3rd party software. Since the idea is to save time neither of those are viable solutions.
Does anyone have any ideas?
-JustinYou could try this vbs script that lists installed programs and add info to a text file.

Creating a text output using XML Publisher
Hi All,
Recently i created a report for my client using XMl Publisher. The Data Definition was XML and the template type was RTF and i got the output in a PDF format. All was going smoothly until the client decided at the last moment that they wanted to print this in a dot matrix printer!
I've read some articles on XSL- Text layout templates. But i can't get my head around it (I'm Functio-Technical as opposed to Techno-Functional )
How do i convert my RTF template to give me a text output?
MirangaFrom what I know, you will have to create another template based on "XSL" layout or eText layout (both of them require different coding methods). The RTF can not create text outputs even in 11g. This is based on my experience so far. You can create RTF output (available by default) based on the current layout that you use for PDF and see if it can be printed in a dot matrix printer though.

Open Text output of a Report in Excel - Bad format
Hi All,
We have a report in Oracle Apps 11i(11.5.10) with Text as output format. We would like to open the file in Excel format.
We have done the recommended setups from the metalink note ID 316752.1.
Output is generated in Excel, but the format is not proper. Column level data is not displayed on Cell wise in the Excel, instead all the output is
dispalyed in single column in the Excel.
Any pointers on how to format the output to align each column in the output to the individual cell in the Excel.
Or else.. how to generate the output to Excel file?

Helios,
Kind regards for the reply.
I have surfed all the notes. My problem is.. I can open the text output in Excel. But the format is bad.
Output is nor properly alinged to the cells in the Excel.
And being the report is .RDF, any way we can do on the format?Hi Ram,
1. Are you using XML publisher to get the excel output?
2. If yes did you set the layout to excel when you run the concurrent request on the SRS screen?
Thanks

I think I already know the answer to this which is - no. I'll explain why I am asking the question in a second, but the reason I think the simple answer is no is because - text frames are controlled by a designer in the layout file, an editor using incopy can only edit the text and images placed inside text frames, and so cannot resize them, add or delete them.
Ok, so the reason I have asked this.
Is there a way around this so that editors in incopy can edit certain types of text frame that are contained within the main text frame? I'm using these text frames to contain specific paragraph styles, giving them a boxed look and also with an anchored icon in the top left of the text frame depending on the type of paragraph it is. See screenshot as an example of a green text frame that I am using to contain paragraphs of type "tip".
If it is not possible for editors in incopy to add, edit or resize these text frames (green tip frame in the example above), then how else can I style these paragraphs to give the same visual appearance, but without the use of wrapping them in a text frame?
One (not so good) way around this is for the designer to add the text frames in the layout file after he gets the content back from the editor, then moving the "tip" paragraphs into these newly created text frames. However when the editor updates the content in incopy and gets these new text frames in their copy, they can not then delete them if they wish to, or if they add or reduce content inside of these green text frames then the frames dont grow to fit their edited content. So I dont think its a solution for the designer to control the adding, removing and resizing of these frames.
UPDATE: I have just discovered that once a text frame has been placed into the document by the designer and the editor updates their copy in incopy- they can then use the "Position Tool" to select that text frame - allowing them to resize it, or delete it! Fantastic. But would the editor be able to add these frames in themselves to begin with? Maybe have a document containing all of the objects available to them, copy and paste one of them into the main document and edit its content? Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Essentially I would like the editor to control the insertion, editing and removal of these inline text frames.True. But when all I am trying to achieve is a border around a paragraph, use of a table seems overkill to me. But if thats the only solution I have so far then I will have to go down that route.
It would be useful to have an object libraries panel in InCopy so that editors can drag across predefined text frames into their doc via InCopy, but I cant see that option in InCopy. is there one? I have also thought about exporting the frames as seperate InDesign Snippets and saving them to an objects folder, then when an editor needs to insert one into their doc they simply use File > Place > "Choose required text frame snippet". However I have found that InCopy can't place InDesign snippets so that theory was a failure. Is there another format I could use to save the objects and bring them into InCopy? List below shows my findings so far for trying to save/export a text frame from InDesign and then import into InCopy:
InDesign Snippet (.idms) - can't import into InCopy
InDesign Document (.indd) - imports content as an image - only editable in InDesign
InDesign Template (.indt) - imports content as an image - only editable in InDesign
InDesign Library (.indl) - can't import into InCopy - no panel available in InCopy for object libraries (that I can see...)
InCopy Markup (.icml) - only imports the text, loses the text frame -
Generating TEXT output from RTF template/reports
Hi ,
We have been working with XML Publisher for a long time now.. and we have come across some requirements such as
1. Page break in TXT report output
2. Page Headers after every 'X' lines in TEXT output.
This was easily achieved with RTF template and PDF/HTML/RTF output, but not with TEXT output in eTEXT template.
So we started looking into two approaches
1. Generate TXT from PDF/RTF/HTML output(generated from RTF template), though it will addon to the time, but we are looking for this approach. We are looking for some JAVA api's which can help us to extract text from PDF/HTML/RTF while preserving the format.
2. Pass the TXT generated by eTEXT template to our custom util , which will split the report in diff. pages.This will get complex as we recieve more and more reports.
We have also tried hacking the RTF parser used in XML P so as to get a TXT output or using XSL-FO objects in eTEXT parser, but we could not get anything of our help.
Does anyone have any pointers in this.
regards
GauravYou can burst with eText and I have done it
successfully.
I don't believe pagebreaks are an option in eText and
I don't think it makes sense either since your
generating a flat-file and not a customer or internal
facing document. Does that make sense?
Also, if you would like you can use the
BIPublisherIDE, this code can be converted pretty
easily to handle jcp. There is a an oa framework
version I have developed but I haven't posted on my
blog yet. I plan on adding a bolt on for java
concurrent programs soon. it's really pretty simple
just haven't had the time.

http://bipublisher.blogspot.com
Thanks Ike for your reply.
I agree with your points on TXT files, but in our case,the reports are generated in TXT format for the customer so we are looking for the above mentioned features.
I have gone through BIP IDE and its a wonderful small utility which eases the task of BIP development.
As I mentioned in my original post that we are currently processing the generated TXT report using a custom util. in JAVA to get the desired output in TXT again.
I assume thats not what a JCP would do,so I am looking to explore that too.
As I understand the process for report generation is
1. Generate XSL from eTEXT template.
2. Get the XML data from DB using XDO
3. Apply XSL on XML to get the required template.
If we are looking to achieve some customizations then we need to have the XSL generated with those customizations.
In this case, where do we plug in the JCP to alter XSL or am I missing something.

Executing a native process and getting the text output
Hi,
I have the following problem.
When I execute a native DOS process (lets say a batch file), and
expect some text output from this process I use the following code:
String command = "test.bat";
Process process = runtime.exec(command);
BufferedReader rd = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(process.getInputStream()));
String s = new String();
while((s = rd.readLine())!=null) {
out.println(s + "<br/>" );
The problem is that as long as rd.readLine() does not return null, the page does not display the result. When the process crash, sometimes nothing return.
I would like to display the output as it comes, i.e. line by line.
I have no clue on how to do that except writting the output in a text file, and reading the text file with a page that reload every x seconds.
I do not beleive this is a good solution.
Additionaly, I may have a huge output. It seems to make the process
to hang. Is there a was to fix it.
Could someone give me some hints.
Regards,
Arnaud.I am having the same problem...did you ever solve it?

Format Payment Instructions with Text Output issue
Hi All,
We have requirement like don't want print checks in oracle, just process the payment, generate the document number(check number) in oracle and send the data file to third party system. It takes care the check printing.
For this I developed e-text xml template, created the payment format of type Disbursement Payment Instruction, attached to bank account and Payment process profile.
When I am processing payment it is submitting 'Format Payment Instructions with Text Output' instead of 'Format Payment Instructions' but that program extracting the previous check information which not related to supplier and as well as payments batch.
Please let me know what would be the issue?
Thanks
PraveenHi Javvaji,
Please check the following steps,
1) Created XML Pubblisher template and attached the .rtf (Type - eText-Outbound, Default Output Type - eText)
2) In Payable Manager responsibility Create a Payment Format ->
Setup-> Payment Administrator-> Formats (Add XML Publisher Template created in step1)
3) Setup-> Payments -> check existing Bank & Bank Branches
4) Setup-> Payments -> Bank Accounts -> Create the payment Document Number
5) Attach the Bank account to a valid supplier: Payables – Suppliers -> Entry
6) Now to create the payment Process Profile (PPP)
Navigation : go to Payables -> Setup-> Payment Administrator
7) Now to attach everything (PPP,format,document etc.) to the Template
First step to Create a “Template”
Navigation: Payables,Vision Operations -> Payments -> Entry -> Payments Manager
8) Then go to Tab “Payment Process Requests” Then click on “Submit Single Request”
9) Check View -> Requests
No output generated in 'Format Payment Instruction' program.
which program I can get the eText output?
Please suggest.
Thanks & Regards,

How to take Text Output in File as It shows error of Printer definition file
I want to take Output of a report in text file or rtf format so that i could be able to print on a DMP, it is very difficult to take printing on Inkjets with wide information. How can i take fast printing on Dot Matrix Printer.
Looking forward for a quick & positive response.Hi ,
Text outut dump can be got by running the report with desformat as delimited. Alternatively You can run the Report in character mode and set the desformat=dflt and destype=file. This will give you a simple text output of the report which can then be printed.

How can I conditionally change text output?
Trying to modify text output, inline, based on a True|False condition
i.e.:
"the condition is: <condition>" should become
"the condition is: Yup" or "the condition is: Badboy"
I'm trying to use some inline code. for example: "{if ($condition) {"Yup"} else {"Nope"}}" but can't seem to get it to work.
cls
$condition=$true
if ($condition) {"Yup"} else {"Nope"} #this actually provides the proper output, but I can't seem to integrate it to the complete string output.
#the following line does not provide the proper result.
"Test string " + ({if ($condition) {"Yup"} else {"Nope"}}) +"."Hi Murdan,
In addition, add some explanations to the methods above, we could use the “dollar sign + round brackets” and the expression in the brackets in double-quoted strings, whatever is in
the brackets should be evaluated first.

Hi All,
We are migrating from 11.5.10 to R12. We have check printing customize program. In this program we are priting text output using Concurrent progam which is based on Oracle report writer. Concurrent program output is Text.
Now I want to migrate this to R12, I was searching everywhere to find sample program which generates TEXT output similar to RTF template provided by Oracle IBYDC_STD1.rtf.
Please tell me how to proceed further.
ThanksNot sure for a pre-printed stationary, you need the concurrent program output to be in Text format. Ideally, you can design you check in a RTF/PDF format. Additonally, you can look into following files.
IBYDC_LSR.rtf
PAYUSCHKWVXML_en.rtf
APCHECKPYMTSUP.rtf
