Removing spaces in Image Slider

Hi all.
I'm new to muse, website design, and HTML so I'm an uber noob and have been just googling everying I can't figure out. My current issue is that I've worked out how to a put a sliding image gallery but I can't figure out how to remove the spaces between the images.
Here is what it currently looks like
http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/1310/screenshot20120718at649.png
and this is the HTML for the sliding gallery
<div style="overflow-y:hidden;overflow-x: scroll; width: 850px; height: 400px">
<table width=2000>
<tr>
<td><a href="http://google.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7111/7578909632_b905a51c97.jpg" width="500" height="334" ></a></td>
<td><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7111/7578909632_b905a51c97.jpg" width="500" height="334"></a></td>
<td><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7111/7578909632_b905a51c97.jpg" width="500" height="334"></a></td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
Remove the table width and it should work fine.
Right now the image is 500px and the individual td is one-third of 2000px, which comes around 666px. That is why there is an extra space.

Abhishek Maurya

  • Disallow Spaces in Image Names

    Hi,
    There is a long running problem with Business Catalyst at this moment in time - it allows spaces in file uploads.
    This is a severe problem and simply shouldn't be allowed in any modern CMS.
    If I give an isolated example, I recently helped a client of mine launch an Email Campaign from their CP. Everything appears fine in all browsers, however in Gmail, images with spaces in simply break.
    This comes down to our client uploading images with spaces in, which suffice to say we have told them not to do. It's easy to say we should tell our clients to do this however this will not do. It is simply a requirement of all CMS' in this day an age as files with spaces in will almost always cause problems somewhere.
    Before I carry on ranting, is there a way for me to enable a requirement for spaces in file uploads?
    If not, this feature needs to be implemented.
    Thanks.

    Hi Liam,
    In the minds of my customers is it a BC problem or is a web problem? It is a BC problem.
    Look at it this way; Facebook, twitter and the many hundreds of websites that you can upload images to either disallow you from uploading images with spaces or loop through file names and convert the image filename to be web friendly.
    We can't expect less tech-savvy clients to remove spaces from their images, especially if there is no clear warning on the website to remove them. Are you suggesting, that we train each and every user of each and every website that we have built to remove spaces from their filenames?
    Are you serious?
    There is no debate here - BC should be doing something to fix this problem, whether it is to give adequate warning and advice during the file upload period, to rename images to be web friendly or to disallow spaces in images completely it has to be done. To suggest that this is a 'web problem' is to make excuses for Adobe. We should not have to train our clients to remove spaces from images file names.
    While I agree that with the tech-savvy it is simple to remove spaces from images it is not something we should expect users to do. For an example, let's take a large scale eCommerce website. There are multiple users of that website, some tech-savvy, others not-so. This eCommerce website takes on a new user to help manage their products, who we will call John. John isn't very tech savvy.
    The business-owners take John through the basics of uploading a product, possibly even suggesting he removes spaces from image file names. However, being the new guy, John doesn't remember that and fails to remove spaces from a couple of images. Nobody knows, because these images appear fine in the latest browsers. Three weeks later, this business decides to launch an email campaign, which looks great in tests to Outlook! As the business-owners are not tech-savvy, they very-happily launch the email campaign based on a template created by the original developers without testing. The original developers cannot take into account spaces in images as HTML email cannot run JavaScript.
    Of course, just after the send date Employee #5 notices that all of the product images are broken in Gmail. The business-owners then swiftly contact the web developers and all the blame comes to them, despite that fact they advised them on this originally.
    So in conclusion here, the business-owners lose out on valuable profits and their reputation is damaged and the web-developers reputation is scarred indefinitely, with Business Catalyst's problems being blamed on them as the reseller. Everybody loses.
    And all of this could of been avoided simply if Adobe had put in adequate efforts (such as those previously described) to alleviate this problem.
    To suggest that we should be training our clients and all of their new and changing users to do the following is to make excuses for Adobe's failures.

        <p> Be aware that if you use the Property inspector to navigate to your logo image using the SRC field (instead of removing and replacing the placeholder), you should remove the inline background and display properties. Your spry assets folder MUST be in the same folder as that of your webpage with the slideshow (html, php... whatever)
    Check your folder configuration on the server by clicking on the "Remote Button" on the DW Assets Tab.
    Example 1:  This will not work:
    WEBPAGE HERE:    /server/public/myfolder/slideshow.html
    SPRY ASSETS HERE:  /server/public/SpryAssets/....your javascript files
    Example 2: This will work:
    WEB PAGE HERE:  /server/public/myfolder/slideshow.html
    SPRY ASSETS HERE:  /server/public/myfolder/SpryAssets/....your javascript files
    Hope this helps.

    How do i crop "out" a piece of image=ex: how it will look when its cut for a window. Crop a white space in image?

    I think this will help if you are using version 11 or 12.
    Make a selection with a selection tool of the area you want to remove.
    Example: rectangular marquee tool - make a rectangle.
    Use Select>Refine Edge:
    Use the View section of this dialog box to see a few views.
    If you need to refine the edge of the selection (smooth, feather, shift, etc.) you can do that in this dialog box.
    You may want to check the box about remembering your settings in case you need to come back to them.
    In the Output section, you can pick New Layer with Layer Mask and click OK.
    You should see the hole in your image.

  • Space between images

    When placing images on a website, I get smal spaces between the images. They are only visible in Safari, not in Firefox. What am I doing wrong?
    www.conceptualz.nl

    I went looking, didn't see any images with space problems
    But one thing you can do in your style sheet is the following:
    img {
         border: 0;
         padding: 0;
         margin: 0;
    That will remove any space between images.
    If the images are links, then you would:
    img a link {
         border: 0;
         padding: 0;
         margin: 0;

  • Having trouble with spry image slide show

    Im new to dw and i inserted a image slide show into my index.htm file, it works fine when i preview it in dw cs5.5.  When I try it on a web browser I get a dialog box that says that the spry panel selector .js requires spry widget.js and continues thru several other dialog boxes until my website loads only to see my image slideshow as a list.  Im not sure if its in the code or the support files can anyone help?  I would greatly appreciate it if someone can set me on the right path with this, Thank you in advance.

        Logo Replacement
        An image placeholder was used in this layout in the .header where you'll likely want to place  a logo. It is recommended that you remove the placeholder and replace it with your own linked logo.
        Be aware that if you use the Property inspector to navigate to your logo image using the SRC field (instead of removing and replacing the placeholder), you should remove the inline background and display properties. These inline styles are only used to make the logo placeholder show up in browsers for demonstration purposes.    To remove the inline styles, make sure your CSS Styles panel is set to Current. Select the image, and in the Properties pane of the CSS Styles panel, right click and delete the display and background properties. (Of course, you can always go directly into the code and delete the inline styles from the image or placeholder there.) <!-- end .content --></div>
      <div class="footer">
        <p>About us  Other Services Employment Contacy us Terms of use Privacy Policy</p>
        <!-- end .footer --></div>

    var MenuBar1 = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar("MenuBar1", {imgDown:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarDownHover.gif", imgRight:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif"});
    </script>
    </body>
    </html>

    Your spry assets folder MUST be in the same folder as that of your webpage with the slideshow (html, php... whatever)
    Check your folder configuration on the server by clicking on the "Remote Button" on the DW Assets Tab.
    Example 1:  This will not work:
    WEBPAGE HERE:    /server/public/myfolder/slideshow.html
    SPRY ASSETS HERE:  /server/public/SpryAssets/....your javascript files
    Example 2: This will work:
    WEB PAGE HERE:  /server/public/myfolder/slideshow.html
    SPRY ASSETS HERE:  /server/public/myfolder/SpryAssets/....your javascript files
    Hope this helps.

  • Image slider not loading

    Hi,
    The image slider on the home page of a bc site I administer is not loading properly.
    If you click on the business logo to refresh then it appears. However the client is not happy that it is not working when a customer lands on the homepage.
    Has anyone had this problem and if so how did they fix it?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi Liam,
    Yeh it is a template site.  I modified the Tribeca home page and it has been working fine, my client wanted ad banners on the home page so I put an ad rotator module above the image slider. I have removed these now in case that was the problem, but a few visitors are giving feedback that the image slider is not showing.  The Link is www.w-o-o.me.
    Thanks
    update - I looked at the html on the home page and noticed the line of code referring to the first image of the slider was different to the rest, so i copied and pasted a line from the other images and swapped it out and that has seemed to fix it.

  • Can't get image slider to work

    Every image slider tutorial I do, I can't seem to get to work! I'm obviously doing something wrong!! Could someone please point out what it is please? I've been going onto CodePen > typing in responsive image slider > copying the html > creating a separate CSS and JS and linking to them. But when I run the page, nothing happens. What vital ingredient am I missing?
    Untitled Document
    Thanks.

    I agree with you pal - there's no point in trying to be clever if no-one can find the code.
    If you want the slider you're talking about then copy the code below and paste into a dreamweaver document and browse - have fun and then go tell code pen they are a pile of shite.

  • Removing Portal Branding image&Logos!

    Hi All
    I want to remove Portal branding image&Logos,b'z it takes lot of network space.
    We are maintaining 4000 users in EP.
    Suggest me...any problems if i remove those logos.
    thx
    Pradeep

    Pradeep,
    there shouldn't be any problems. Alternatively, simply replace them with a transparent 1x1 pixel gif, so that so at least have a valid image.
    Regards,
    Dominik

  • How can I make a image slider using Dreamweaver? Is there any image slider widget I could use?

    I was browsing through the web when I saw a website which had a really cool image slider. I don't have any idea of how to develop anything similar, but I was wondering if maybe dreamweaver had any widget that has already been developed by someone else that is open source for everyone else to use. Is there anything any?

    Ken is referring to a "roll your own" slider that works great. There are lots of those.
    None of those are built in to Dreamweaver. None of those will give you a panel within Dreamweaver with which you can build them.
    Project Seven does sell widgets that are Dreamweaver extensions.
    Adobe is offering another one for free (and you get additional function if you buy it).
    Extend Studio offers Power Slider (with a free trial).
    And there is Nivo Slider.
    These are extensions that plug in and extend what Dreamweaver can do.

    Thanks!

    You might consider giving the letter a negative baseline shift and aligning it to centre.
    That way you can adjust it so that its anchor point coincides with the centre of the hexagon.
    Like this:
    Another thing: You may find it easier working with type if you hide bounding boxes.

  • How do I remove space after paragraph?

    Does Robohelp have the "Remove Space after paragraph" button for reducing the space between lines, like the one in Word?

    In HTML the space after is controlled by the style in your CSS file. You need to edit the style in the Style Editor.

  • Image slide show...

    Hi,
    If I have a Flash web page with a button and I'd like an
    image slide show to launch at the top of the page upon one clicking
    the button, plus the slide show container to have the play/pause,
    forward, backward controls, along with small numbers 1-10
    (appropriate number highlighted for which photo you are viewing)
    also...how much time would it be to set up the controls,
    actionScript / interactivity? (a guesstimate)
    If I'm creating and prepping all images, buttons, etc -- just
    need someone to actionScript and set up the controls, how much
    would you estimate this would cost and, as above, timeframe in
    hours?
    Thank you! Just trying to get an idea.

    I'm sure I remember a few years ago now a heated discussion
    on whether it counts as price fixing to discuss fees in an online
    forum.
    It really depends on who was doing it. As a guesstimate I'd
    say 4-5 hours from scratch which would cover setting it up and
    probably one revision. If you were happy to use a component that
    was designed for it then a fraction of that time, probably under an
    hour. You'll pay more for someone with experience, but then they're
    probably faster and the standard of the work will be higher.
    In my opinion it's worth paying a little more for a quality
    company who may foresee problems you overlook rather than pinching
    the pennies, but that's your call.
    If you're looking to do it on the cheap then buy a component
    and have their technical support set it up (or at least help you)
    for free.
