Hi all,
     I am beginner to servlet ,jsp.Please help me to continue in my small project.At first I will brief about my project.It consist of operation related to Bank locker.
1.To enter to the system I have user id and password .
2.Once its valid they get a screen which has buttons to assign locker to the customer and record locker opration of the customer.
3.When assign locker is clicked I wil get a page which has combo box for entering locker id and for customer id.These customer id and locker id I am retrieving from the database. And I have one text field for entering date.Once if we click assign button these information will get stored in database.
4.In backend I have table users->for verifying username and password, customer->has fields customer id and name. Here id is primary key, Assign locker->Locker id(Primary key),customer id(Foreign key customer table) and date.
5.So when I click assign button all information wil get stored in my AssignLocker table. Till here its working. Now what I want is once a locker is assigned to a customer it should be removed from combo box .I am not getting logic for this. Please can anyone help me to solve this
Thanks a lot in advance

Avoid Scriptlets , and use MVC framework , make use of Servlets and JavaBeans.

  • How to remove values from a drop down menu with personalizations

    I have been unable to find any examples of removing values from a dropdown menu using forms personalizations. We have a specific responsibility that we would like to limit the actions that they can carry out on the person form. I have tried setting default values, setting the object to update_allowed = false, and have been unable to come up with a solution. The examples I have found do not show this type of personalization so I am unsure if it can be done. If anyone has done a personalization like this, please post the steps to reproduce or a link to an example. Thanks.

    Which dropdown menu you want to customized ?The specific menu we would like to customize is the 'Action' menu on the Person form that usually contains 'Create Employment' and so on. We have a specific recruiter responsibility that we would like to limit to 'Create Applicant'. I have been unable to come up with a combination of steps in personalizations that sets that value in the dropdown and allows it then be unchangeable. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I would prefer not to create a custom form but without personalizations, I might have to.

  • How to Pass values from XML to JSP??? Urgent Please Help me

    Hi guys,
    I am new to XML, I want to pass values from XML to JSP. I have a xml file with attributes, I should send this values to a JSP file. How is it??? Please Help guys.... its very urgent. Please send me how to do it with an example or atleast any urls related that....
    Looking for ur favourable reply.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sridhar

    in a servlet :
    parse your xml file (see how at the end of the post) and
    put the values you want in the request attributes
    request.setAttribute("value1", value1);
    ...redirect to the jsp
    in the JSP:
    get the wanted attributes:
    String value1=(String)request.getAttribute("value1");To learn how to parse a xml file, pay a look at this page, it explains how to read the XML document to build an object representation, and then how to navigate through this object to get the data

  • Passing values from HTML to JSP method,

    Hello:
    I am starting to wonder if what I am doing will ever work...
    Ok, I am trying to avoid javascript. I have a drop-down list named "year" and I wish to call a JSP method that is defined/declared in the same JSP.
    First, I want to pass the chosen option to the method and then store the name/value in a global variable.
    Second, depending on what the user selects, I will get values from an array defined/initialized on page load AND display those values in another drop-down list.
    As a test, and until now, I have done this. I am not passing anything yet, I just wanted to test this "fuzzy logic" I am having:
    <%!
    String currentYear;
    private void showDaysInDDList()
    currentYear = request.getparameter("year");
    %>
    Then on the HTML part of the page I have a drop-down list:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title></title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css">
    </head>
    <body bgcolor="ffffcc">
    <form method="POST" name="form1" action="left.jsp">
    <select name="year" onchange="<%=showDaysInDDList()%>">
         <option></option>
         </select>
    I am getting the following errors:
    An error occurred at line: 105 in the jsp file: /p1/left.jsp
    request cannot be resolved
    ....and regarding to the onchange="<%=showDaysInDDList()%>"> part I am getting the following:
    An error occurred at line: 204 in the jsp file: /p1/left.jsp
    The method print(boolean) in the type JspWriter is not applicable for the arguments (void)
    In the action="left.jsp", left.jsp is the same page where the drop-down list and the method is. I am not sure if that is another error.
    I will continue here with my coffee ... any help will be extremely appreciated !!..
    I'll have to shut down my "asp.net mind" for a while..
    I'll reply later,
    MMS

    Ok, this is a bit messy here. I don't know how much you've read up on JSP but you seem confused about some fundamentals to me. However, you mention that you've worked with ASP .net so I'm going to assume you do have some notion of how thing should work in general.
    1. JSP is on the server-side and events like onchange that you've used take place on the client-side after the JSP/ servlet code has run and produced the HTML page. So calling your showDaysInDDList() will not work.
    2. Are you sure you know how the declaration tags ( <%! %> ) work? When you normally write JSP code without these tags, all that code gets compiled into the service method of the corresponding servlet that the JSP gets turned into. But, you can declare your own methods and variables outside the service method by using these tags.
    So what you're effectively doing is declaring
    private String/ void showDaysInDDList()
    }and followed by your usual _jspService()
    public void _jspService(HttpServletRequest request,
       HttpServletResponse  response)
         throws IOException, ServletException
    }Now it may be clear, that the request object is not available in the showDaysInDDList() method by default; you'll either have to declare it ( not sure if it's good programming practice or not ) or pass the required parameters in the call.
    3. Like you seem to have realized, that error about the printing of booleans was related to the return type of your method because <%= %> translates to out.println(); and since the argument was the method call, the return value was to be printed which here was a void ( not sure why it says boolean though :D ).
    Read up on this introduction to JSPs http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/JSPIntro/contents.html, seems to be pretty good and covers everything in quick, short chunks.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to get a value from applet in jsp?

    Dear all,
    I have a jsp page which includes a applet (in a form). User click to my applet and get the value.
    and the jsp form can capture the value of the applet and send to servlet.
    Is it possible?
    If it is possible, how to do that?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Kin

    Hi,
    Yes it is possible. You have to use LiveConnect.
    The classes required are netscape.javascript.*
    They are located in the jaws.jar file (jre/lib).
    Here is a copy of the page found at http://www.rgagnon.com/javadetails/java-0177.html
    Read/Write HTML field values from JAVA
    [Netscape AND IE4 compatible]
    The netscape.javascript.* (LiveConnect) package provides facilities to directly manipulate HTML FORM components.
    JSObject win = (JSObject)JSObject.getWindow(this);
    JSObject HTMLInputText = (JSObject) win.eval("document.forms[0].elements[0]");
    String testValue = (String)HTMLInputText.getMember("value");  // read form value
    HTMLInputText.setMember("value" , testValue + "new stuff");  // write form valueBut this action requires a signed applet. in Netscape, you must PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalBrowserRead");
    PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalBrowserWrite");
    before using an JSObject related to an HTML document.
    But there is a workaround, simply pass the informations through Javascript functions!
    [JSjava.java]
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import netscape.javascript.*;

  • How to remove value from pop list in iProcurement Page

    I need to remove a value from POP list. How can I do this? Can I do this using Perosnalization?
    While creating requisition in the approvers page there are two buttons one is Approvers and another is Add_Attachments.
    When I click Add_Attachments button it will open another page there I need enter description and select category from the pop list and define attachment.
    In the category list I need to remove one value. How do i do this.Personalization links not available in this page.
    Please help guys...
    Thanks Advance

    Kumar,
    First you need to find out the data source for the category pop list. Based on that we can suggest how to achieve that requirement as there are many different ways of specifying the data source for a pop list.

  • How to gather option values from database in jsp

    jsp experts
    my problem is that i have to populate the optional values that user has to selecet his choice .
    we could have done it by :
    <optional value="item1">item1
    <optional value="item2">item2
    </select>
    but in our database if new category of item is enlisted then what ??? ,thats why we go for populating the values from fetching from database by simple class & populate values in the optional values.
    can any one help about it

    Hi Avina,
    You need to invoke a method from your jsp file which interacts with the database. If you are following the MVC pattern which segregates the View and Contoller part, invoke the controller jsp from your View using the include tag.
    Say this is the View.jsp
    // all your initial page include statements --
    <%
    // all your java code (if necessary)
    %>
    <jsp:include page="Controller.jsp" >
    <jsp:param name="command" value="getOptionList"/>
    </jsp:include>
    <!-- all your html tags -->
    // If you are following my technique, there should be a Controller.jsp which interacts with your database thru some class which you instantiate in this jsp, which invokes some method (that is why i have passed a parameter, so that if u want to make a check you can do so - u may or may not pass the parameters - based on ur requirements).
    Code in Controller.jsp:
    <%
    // MyClass is the class which does the querying into the database.
    // obj.getOptions() is a method in that class which returns a Vector
    // containing all the options from your database.
    // Please ensure that you import the package in this jsp file, so as
    // to get the MyClass.class in this jsp.
    String getWhat = request.getParameter("command");
    if ( getWhat != null && getWhat.equalsIgnoreCase("command") ) {
    MyClass obj = new MyClass();
    java.util.Vector optionsAvailable = obj.getOptions();
    session.setAttribute("Options", optionsAvailable);
    %>
    -------------- End of Controller.jsp related work ---------------
    // Returning back to the code in the View.jsp:
    Once the including is over, the control will return to the next line of code in View.jsp. Just retrieve the data from the session:
    Continued - View.jsp
    <select name="itemsInDB">
    <option value="Select"> Select </option>
    <%
    /* Now you have a vector containing all the options from
    your database. */
    java.util.Vector vecOptions = (java.util.Vector)
    session.getAttribute("Options");
    for (int i=0; i<vecOptions.size(); i++) {
    %>
    <option value="<%=vecOptions.elementAt(i)%>"><%=vecOptions.elementAt(i)%></option>
    <%
    %>
    </select>
    Well thats all thats required. Your problem is solved. You will get a list of all the options in your database. Happy Coding

  • While selecting value from combo box in one frame, based on the selection..

    Hi friends,
    can someone help me out on a issue as it follows:-
    iam developing an application where Iam using xsl,html,javascript and xml.
    There is no existense of Database at all. data is read from xml.
    now,
    In a window there are 3 frames. In the 1st frame combo box is there.
    Based on the selection in the combo box data will be displayed in the 2nd frame.
    now onchange or onselect methods not giving the expected result.
    actually,in the the xsl which is having 3 frames,the 1st and 3rd frame
    calling src="abc.xml" and src="abc.xml"which are static.
    but in the 2nd frame the data need to be changed dynamically.
    I have given frame name="frame_ExchangeDetails2" rows="3%" src="cc_marketWatch_02.xml"/>
    usually data dynamically comes from database.but here i have to refer xml file
    something like [window.href.location="abc.xml"]
    but the problem is when you refer supose:-
    <frame name="frame_ExchangeDetails2" rows="3%" src="cc_marketWatch_02.xml"/>
    the frame is having static page,though there are functions in javascript which are called in onload and onchange.which are not working.
    I have tried putting if condition like:-
    if(document.abc.fieldname.value=='6'
    {   window.location.href = "cc_custLookUpData-mobileno.xml";
    so that it could go to the repective page.
    but it is not working.
    so what should i do if I select from combo box in one frame and based on the selection xml/html page will be displayed in the 2nd frame.
    if anybody has google account i can forward the zip file so it will be easier to understand.

    If you have rights to modify tabular model then, you can create a measure in your Tabular model which returns previous week and then use this measure in Pivot Table.

  • How to remove value from a vector (from its top index 0)

    HI Friends
    A basic question. In my code i am adding values in vector (v). Now i want to remove the values from the top of the vector (from index 0) and move them in an variable temp. How can i do it. I know there is a method remove in vector. but i am not sure how to use it.Can anybody show me how to do this?
    here is my peice of code
       public void result (){
            int temp1,temp2;
            for(int i=0; i<=  3000;i++){
               v.removeElement(i);
           }Thanks alot in advance

    Well, i'm Not sure what ur problem is...?!?
    Do U mean to say,
    You need to just remove the 0'th element from a Vector & store THAT in a element called temp..?!?
    Plz. have a look at the Vector class API in (for Java 1.4)
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/
    There's a remove( ) which takes the index of the element to be removed...
    In ur case, u could say, for example
    Object temp = myVector.remove(0);or more appropriately,
    SomeType temp;
    temp = (SomeType)myVector.remove(0);--fritz

    // This works but gives the previous export value
    if( event.willCommit )
        app.alert(event.target.value);
    What I need is the clicked items' current export value as soon as it is clicked.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Sorry about that. I posted the question and then realized I should have just used the same thread.
    Any way, I tried your code and it does not show the current export value. It shows the previously selected value.
    Example:
    When I click item 2 it shows item 0
    Then I click item 4 and it shows item 2
    Then I click item 7 and it shows item 4.. etc.. (see the pattern)
    What I need is the value from the item I'm currently clicking on.
    If I click item 2, I expect to see item 2. etc..
    Thank you for your patience in answering this!

  • Display values from database in jsp page

    Hi,
    I need to display a list of options with checkboxes in a jsp page .The values are retrived from DB.
    formBean fb=new FormBean(request)
    <Input type="checkbox" name="xyz" value="<%=fb.getFormdata( "xyz")%>">
    should this"xyz" be the name of the column in the DB table?

    This is my FormBean
    public class FormBean {
    HttpServletRequest _request;
    public FormBean(HttpServletRequest request) {
    _request = request;
    public String getFormData(String abc) {
    return getFormData(abc, true);
    public String getFormData(String name, boolean filter) {
    String value = null;
    if (_request != null) {
    value = _request.getParameter(abc);
    if (value == null) value = "";
    if (filter) {
    value = Utils.filter(value);
    return value;
    * "Clears" parameters. Useful if you do wnat a form initialized with blanks rather than
    * current values;
    public void clear() {
    _request = null;

  • Get Value From Combo Object

    when i declare
    ===================================
    Dim vCombo As SAPbouiCOM.ComboBox
    set vCombo = oTmpForm.Items("44").Specific
    sGRSC = vCombo.Selected.Value
    'to get combo current value into variable sGRSC
    ============================================
    i always get this error message
    "Run Time Error 91 Object Variable or With Block Variable not set ".
    Am i wrong using Combo Properties. Any Suggestion ?

    Hamdi,
    U might not have set a value for the combobox.
    Set a value like this:
              oCombo.ValidValues.Add "I", "In process"
              oCombo.ValidValues.Add "H", "On Hold"
              oCombo.ValidValues.Add "C", "Completed"
              oCombo.Select 0, psk_Index
    This will set the first value ( index starts at 0 )
    as Selected.
    Later, when u pull the combobox value into a string , it will have "I".
    ===============================================
    Hope this helps.

  • How to pass values from JSTL to JSP or Javascript ?

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to share or use the variables which are declared are used by JSTL in JSP expression or scriplet code and in Java Script.
    Example:
    This Works:
    <fmt:set var="test" value="JSTL" />
    <fmt:out value="${test}" />
    But, this gives error:
    <% out.println(test) %>
    And passing the value of variable 'test' to Java Script code also gives error.
    How to use JSTL variables in JSP and in Javascript ?
    Yours,
    Sankar.B

    <% out.println(pageContext.getAttribute("test") %>
    If your tags use a different scope then you'll nee to access them accordingly e.g this will work
    <c:set var="test" value="JSTL" scope="session" />
    <c:out value="${test}" />
    <% out.println(session.getAttribute("test")); %>
