Repeatable 64gb 3g/GPS iPad crash when re-arranging icons

We imported about a hundred iPod apps to this iPad. Once there, press and held one to enable re-arrange; do that for a while, without pressing the button to save the current state, and the iPod will shut down without warning - no dimming, just direct to the black screen with the apple on it.
It's really quite annoying.

Colin Robinson wrote:
Haven't got my iPad yet (due Friday) but can't Apps be re-arranged in iTunes like they can for the iPhone?
Yes. Just like the iPhone. One thing to keep in mind is when you arrange the icons with the itunes apps tab tool, be sure to click "Apply" before going to any other tab. If I skip that step, I lose any changes.

  • Numbers for iPad crashes when entering data

I have the same issue as described in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2603291&tstart=0
Basically Numbers crashes almost every time I tap on a cell to input data. It doesn't seem to happen if the cell contains text, or a cell that is the output only of a formula, but it does crash (almost always) whenever I tap a number that's an input into a formula, or a cell with star-value. Sometimes Numbers crashes when I tap an empty cell (even if there is no formula attached to it), but not always.
This occurs in every spreadsheet that I use, including the default "Getting Started" spreadsheet, spreadsheets that I created using templates found in Numbers, and spreadsheets that I imported from my MacBook created in (the most recent version of) Numbers. It's my perception that it first occurred infrequently in Numbers 1.1, and got worse over time.
I use Numbers mostly for a single spreadsheet that keeps track of my invoices. I never use any graphics in the spreadsheets. The formulas are all pretty simple.
(The spreadsheet is used to track sales, so each line has a cell for the dates of order and payment, the number of items, the name of the item, the items total, and at the bottom there's the invoice total. Small stuff like that)
Right now there are about 12 invoices in the spreadsheet. Each invoice is a separate sheet on the same spreadsheet, and I periodically make a duplicate sheet in which I can change some of the values and text (btw, text boxes are unaffected). There are like on average 30 populated cells per sheet, so the total is like 400 populated cells on this spreadsheet.
Unfortunately, due to this bug, I cannot use Numbers for this purpose at all. I can make a duplicate of a (blank or filled-in) Spreadsheet, but as soon as I start adding values to the chart, the screen goes black and I am returned to the iPad home screen. This problem also occurs on my very first invoices, even though they were created just fine at the time (using Numbers 1.0).
I only have four other spreadsheet files in Numbers and they all suffer the same problem. One is the default Numbers "Getting Started" spreadsheet. It crashes on the "Table Basics" spreadsheet when I tap the pink box as instructed.
I created a "Budget" spreadsheet from Numbers's templates. It crashes when I enter data in the "Budget" column in the first ("Categories") chart, but not the "Actual" and "Difference" columns. It also crashes each time I enter data into the "Amount" column of the second ("Transactions") chat, but not any of the other columns ("Date," "Description," and "Category"). So, this spreadsheet is unusable on the iPad.
(I did export this sheet to Numbers on my Mac, and it worked fine.)
I created two other spreadsheets in Numbers about a month ago and I had no problems. They are just two-column charts that I printed out to display some information. One has 30 populated cells, the other has about 100. On both of them, I can edit a cell that has text-only, but I cannot enter any data into an empty cell! It crashes! Also, FYI, there are Japanese characters in the text-fields.
I hope this is not too much information or too little. Just trying to get some help for myself or to help whoever might work on this problem.
Any ideas? Any more info needed? This is on a 3G 32gb iPad using version 3.2.2, and Numbers 1.2.

The issues you describe have nothing to do with the other posting you are referencing. They state they have the following problem:
(numbers on ipad) drops several of the important features that I created in the laptop version such as headers and footers, fonts, steppers, sliders, etc.
It sounds like your having no data entry at all. There is a known issue with certain formulas causing crashes, but not every data entered like you seem to be stating.
I might have missed it, but did you delete and reinstall Numbers on your ipad?
If not, please write down EXACTLY the steps used to reproduce the problem, then go to http://www.apple.com/feedback and input this into a bug report for ipad numbers. Be very specific as to the steps involved to get to the crash point.
    Thanks
    Jason

  • Reader for iPad crashes when highlighting

My iPad Adobe Reader keeps crashing when trying to highlight text. It seems if it takes me more than three or four seconds to tap, hold, and swipe the text I want to highlight then the application closes unexpectedly and I lose some of the work I had completed.
Is anyone else having this problem?  My Reader version is 10.4.4 (70670). My iPad is the New Retina display model with IOS 6.0.1.

Thanks for sharing the information. But unfortunately, we are not able to reproduce this issue at our end.
Could you please share the Crash logs with us that will help in investigating the issue. Follow these steps:
    Sync your iPad to iTunes
Find the crash log(s) on your computer.  Here is where they¹re located:
    Mac OS X : ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>

  • Why does iPad crash when I open Mail app?

My iPad crashes (returns to home screen) each time I open the Mail app. Mail opens for just two seconds, then crashes.
All updates are current on Mac and iPad. I have synced the iPad with my Mac and power-cycled the iPad but nothing helps.
Can I delete and reload just the Mail app? If so, how is that done?
Or do I need connect the iPad to my Mac and do a full Restore of my iPad?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Even if you clear out the server, if the account isn't deleted and readded only when the server is clean then the iPad will still try to download the email.
    As I wrote earlier:
I have reinstalled my email account twice I got my iPad three weeks ago then and today the problem has risen again.
It may be a solution here and now but I don't find it reasonable that we have to delete and reenter our account info every time we need to use our mail app.
Already from the start there were problems; the mail app froze and I had to restart my iPad...2-3 times during the first couple of days. Normally I am a type who takes this rather casual but I do not think Apple wants us to reinstall our mail account every couple of days, huh? ;o)

  • IPad crashes when backing up to iTunes

I just got a new iPad Air, and I need to back up my old iPad 3 to my Macbook so I can restore the new iPad Air from the backup.  BUT....every time I try to back my old iPad up to my computer, my iPad crashes.  I get about 75% of the way through the backup loading bar, and then my iPad goes black and takes five to ten minutes to reboot itself, and then the whole process happens again.  I've seen multiple posts about iTunes crashing when syncing, but not the iPad itself.  I have tried hitting both the back up button or just the sync button (it backs up during the process) but neither works.  This same process also occurs when I try to update to iOS 8.3 (from my iPad, no Macbook or iTunes involved).  How do I get my iPad to last through the backup process?

Have you tried backing your iPad up to iCloud?
Are you using the latest version of iTunes?
How much unused space is left on the iPad?
Try to delete any unnecessary emails/messages & apps.  Clear Safari cache: Settings->Safari->Clear History & Website Data.
Make sure the iPad is charged before backing up to iTunes
    Try a general reset:
Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings.  You won't lose any data but will have to log back into your wifi network

  • Since i uploaded ios 5 my ipad crashes when i use apps and safari.

    Hi,
since i uploaded my ipad to ios 5 it crashes when i use apps and safari.
i tried to restat it and also i reset it to the factory settings but nothing has changed.
is there any software problems ??

seems if I disable all security it works. Not a very good situation, tells me it's a port that is open that shouldn't be. I imagine it is fine on a mac, but on a pc it is an issue since most corporations use pc's.

  • My IPad crashes when I use nook, or ibook. Any fixes?

Actually it crashes when I am watching video as well.   I just downloaded the new software.  Could that be causing it to be slower and more fragile?

More info, it's not simply when I start up Safari, it's when I open multiple tabs and go from one tab to the next in Safari.  Doing this sporadically caused the VPN to turn off.   It happens whether I'm on a work web page, or I simply open up several public sites like CNN, MSN, etc.  I've had to go to using Chrome all the time when using the VPN so that the VPN will stay up (it stayed up all day yesterday while I was on Chrome, while using work web sites, and public web sites).  I tried getting back into Safari at the end of the day, opened a couple of tabs, went back and forth to the opened tabs and VPN immediately shut off.

  • HT4061 ipad crashes when sync with itunes

hi there my ipad crashes everytime i sync to itunes.

I am also having the same problems. My Itunes never really freezes, it just continually shows that it is syncing with my 160Gb Classic, but only loads about 10 songs (out of my 10,000 song library) each time. I have reset, restored, reinstalled numerous times and have tried every fix in every blog that I can find. I haven't yet tried the outlook fix mentioned here. If that doesn't work, I'm out of options. I even tried syncing with Winamp and had problems there as well. GGGrrrrr!!!!

  • New iPad crashing when apps moved around screen?

When I move apps around screens on 3rd gen ipad it crashes and goes back to startup screen with apple in center. Please help

    Hi,
I have the same problem here. My experience is:
    1. iPad 2 (3G 64GB) is turned on
    2. Everything works, Spotify, other apps, etc.
    3. Put my headset (in-ear + mic) into the iPad. The headset is Monster Powerbeats, in-ear.
    4. iPad freezes
    5. If I take out the headset, it stops to freeze.
    6. If I put in e.g. Koss headphones (without mic), the iPad does not freeze. Neither does it with a Sennheizer in-ear headset with mic.
    7. Tried to do a hard reset (holding down power button and home button).
    7.1. iPad restarts
7.2. Apple symbol comes up, wheel spinning endless. Restarts by itself, and 7.2. starts over by it self.
7.3. If I take out the headset (Monster Powerbeats), iPad immediately starts as normal.
    8. The Monster Powerbeats in-ear with mic work on my iPhone 4 without crashing / freezing........!?
To sum up: For me this seems to be headset specific. Even though the Monster Beats work with my iPhone 4, they doesn't work without a hazzle. Several times I find the buttons on the mic to not work, despite sound comming out from the in-ear plugs. I also some times have to take them in and out of the iPhone 4 to get them to work with the iPhone. Volume control seldom works though on my Monster Powerbeats anymore.
Seems like the iPad is extremly sensitive to headsets that are not 100% prestine.
Hope this helps some, but not the least Apple to do their part of the job making this work to the extent it is possible, despite the headset manufacturers not doing theirs making mure rugged headsets. Seemingly the iPhone 4 is accepting bigger "errors" than the iPad 2 at least.

  • Ipad Crashes when deleting any app or photo - Its over capacity by 258MB.

Hi - This is my first post here!
I've already tried to find help in the forum and through google searches but decided to stop wasting time after 30minutes of getting no where.
The ipad 2 storage capacity is overloaded by 258 MB.
    Mainly apps and video/pictures.
I exported the pictures to iphoto to try and then delete them that way.
    It crashed.
I tried to delete photos on the ipad directly.
    Crashes everytime.
    I've tried deleting some apps.
    It crashes everytime.
I did stumble across this solution - reset the device through itunes. I haven't tried it yet because i don't want to risk losing anything valuable.
    Restoring iOS software: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
When I tried to do a back up it gave me the following error message:
The iPad “Chris Marx’s iPad” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items.
Are there some other troubleshooting techniques I can try first?

Have you tried to delete files individually? Not a big one but a small one that it may be able to handle. Just try it one at a time until you get under your capacity limit.

  • Why is my iPad crashing when going into Wifi in the control panel?

Very bizarre incident I had today when I was at a local coffeeshop in my neighorhood.  I was attempting to connect to their Wifi and everytime I tried to go into Wifi Settings on my iPad the iPad would crash.  EVERYTIME.  I tried rebooting, hard reset, even reset network settings, and cleared all running programs and it would continue to crash.  Running 6.1.3
Even more odd, my iPhone 5 running 6.1.4 would crash too when selected wifi settings.
I walked out of the building and everything worked.
Incredibly odd, but why did this happen?  I couldn't select ANY wifi network it would just crash anytime.
    Wrong place, wrong time?

That's how I see it. Something in that WiFi network did not agree with your devices. I don't know how else to explain it. If everything is working OK with regard to WiFi everywhere else and you are having no other problems with the phone or the iPad, I would just stay away from that WiFi network.
