Repeating multiple Sections within a form

Good Day All;
I have designed a project status report form for our section. The user is able to repeat rows and repeat a section when they want to add a new project. Both the rows and the section are contained in a single subform.
I have been asked if it would be possible to add a button that would work a wee bit different. It word break down something like this
I basically have 3 sections.
Section 1 Division. This contains 3 fields
Section 2 Project. This contains 3 fileds
Section 3 details this contains 2 fields
Button1 the user would be able to repeat a row (Section 3). Adding items to a project.
Button2 the user would be able to add new Project, which would also contain section 3
Button3 the user would be able to add a new division, which would also contain section 2 and section 3.
I am thinking that that each section would have to be contained inside a subform set???
Please let me know if I have now gone off the deep end…. As well any suggestions would be great

Hi Chomp,
I am not sure subform sets are necessary if you define your subforms like this
Form
     -> Section1 ( subform)
          -> Section2 ( subform)
               -> Section3 ( subform)
i.e. section1 contains the subform section2 and section2 contains the section3 subform
each section would need to have the setting on the binding tab set to allow the subform to repeat
"Repeat Subform for each data item"
and then the buttons would have something like this on the click event
(assuming the buttons are included in their respective sections)
this.parent.instanceManager.addInstance (true);
// if you place the buttons elsewhere you will need to specifiy the correct path to the subform you wish to add.

However we are receiving an error when attempting to enter data in the field which we have this edit. Error property: line through cannot be set because doing so would violate the document permission setting. any idea how we can get around this issue?

You can control which fields are locked down after signing by setting up a collection. Then those that are not locked can be changed after signing. If this is not possible, then the line outs must occur prior to signing.

Is there anything special about your drop downs (lots of choices)? Are the drop downs part of the selection? You may need to select all of the fields in the section then add the drop downs to the selection by using control-click (command-click on Mac).

I am building a very large form which will have the same group of question response choices repeated multiple times in the form. Is it possible to replicate/duplicate these sets of identical response choices (by say, copying and pasting)? Thank you.

Thank you for giving an idea how to solve my problem.
You suggested to save a page as an .html in Word.
This is what I did:
1. In Word I formated title as Heading 1.( Formating-->Styles and Formating)
2. Saved the page as an HTML file.
3. When I pasted this page into Dreamweaver <h1> TAG was displaced in the source code.

Multiple forms in multiple windows within application

hi,
our user wants to be able to open more than one form in multiple windows within the application and have them within the application window at the same time. we are planning to use open_form instead of call_form to do this. however open_form does not let me specify the query mode, so i guess will have to do that manually? what does Oracle recommend as a best practice for applications - to support mutliple windows or not? if yes, as call_form or open_form?

Yes using open form you will have to manually (in code) switch into Query Mode.
We recommend Open Form over call form as it is more memory efficient, of course there are situations when the behaviour of Call Form is useful but generally I'd encorage the use of open.

Forms - button to repeat a section/row

Hi All, This is the first time I've posted to the Adobe forum, so please forgive me if I sound like I have no idea - well, I don't really!
I need to create a form that has a table/section that we would like our reader to be able to click a button and it repeats the section. For example if it is to provide details of previously held jobs and I have a table with Date, Company Name, Role Title, Duties Held etc - we don't know how many previous jobs they have had, so it would be good to have one section and then a button and they can click it each time they need to add the details rather than having lots of tables that may or may not be used wasting space. Am I making sense?
I have the basic form set up (well I am refining it at the moment) and have seen in Livecycle that a row can be added and deleted, but I am on a Mac and can't see how they did it. I haven't had experience with 'events' or javascript so anything to explain it clearly would be wonderful. I've tried Googling for help but I don't think I'm using the correct wording to find useful results.

Tabular Form in multiple Sections?

Does anyone know how to split up a tabular form into multiple sections?
Example, I have a table with 10 columns
SELECT VALUE1, VALUE2, VALUE3, VALUE4, VALUE5, VALUE6, VALUE7, VALUE8, VALUE9, VALUE10 FROM TABLE;
And I need the following to be displayed:
VALUE1 | VALUE2 | VALUE3 | VALUE4 | VALUE5
12 13 14 15 16
22 23 24 25 26
VALUE6 | VALUE7 | VALUE8 | VALUE9 | VALUE10
17 18 19 20 21
27 28 29 30 31
I realize I can do this by creating 2 separate tabular forms but the idea is to have the update button capable of updating all entries.
Any ideas?

You can have two tabular forms on one page only if you create it manually. See this example:

With standard tabular forms, you have only one form allowed per page.

How to repeat a section in an Adobe 9 Form

I have a section in my form with 6 questions to be answered for Person #1. Depending on the circumstances, I may need to add the same 6 questions to the form if there is a Person #2. How do I add a link to my form that will add an additional sections, as needed, (containing these 6 questions) for each person I may add? Please Help!! Thank you.

In any case, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. Is there a way to create an email button to multiple addresses within a PDF?

I have to regularly update a list of committee members and their email addresses which is then sent to all of the members.
Does anyone know if there a way of creating a button for each of the committees in the list which, when clicked, creates an email to all the members contained within that committee? I will need to add up to 14 email addresses to the one button. I need to know this because the various members in the committees are fed up of copying and pasting all the email addresses into their email messages.
I am now using Acrobat XI but I still can't figure out if this is even possible. If not a button, is there some other way of being able to launch an email to multiple addresses within a PDF?

Not really. But you can combine the data from multiple forms into a single (new) spreadsheet via Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Merge Data Files into Spreadsheet...

Multiple signatures on PDF Form

I need to solve this last issue so I can put our digital signature initiative to rest.
I have attached a sample of the kind of form we need to be able to create. The first section of this form is an approval document, the second part is a closure record.
I need to be able to lock all of the fields above the first set of signature blocks when first digitally signed but not the entire form. I need the second part on page three to be locked when the digital signature is applied.
Right now any digital signature either locks the entire form (keeping others from signing) or does nothing (allowing anyone to change the content) based on the switch in the signature block object palette Signature tap Lock Fields After Signing checkbox.
I know I can cut the form in half and create two documents but this does not alleviate the problem of needing the data fields to be locked and multiple signers to be able to do so.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

This is what I did, for anyone else with the same issue:
Tocreate signature fields in LiveCycle Designer:
Highlight the field. In the Object pallet Type field, select: Document Signature Field.
On the Document Signature tab, make sure that Lock Fields After Signing is not checked.
These fields are a quick way for users to add a digital signature in Adobe Reader.
This seems to work well. I appreciate the help.
Just to bring it full circle, how do you delete a document signature field? Haven't found it in the Help.

In this resID,userID are foreignKey's. i want to set LOV for userID,resID and Active fields within a single JSP form. we could able to generate LOV for single field using jsp element wizard and data webBean.How to do for multiple fields?.I m getting some JBO error while doing multiple lov's in single jsp.

What I typically do in the case where there are multiple barcodes on a form is use the label as the parent element to the rest of the fields on the form. Loop through each of the barcodes in the results from the decode and then place each of them into their own result node of a single XML document. Doing this, you can change the number of barcodes on your form without having to re-code.

Multiple statements within an if statement

I am trying to add multiple statements within the ELSE part of an IF statement. Basically I display an error message if the fields are blank. But if all conditions are met, I want to update a collection then save that collection.
For example,
If (condition, UpdateContext({strError:"Please complete all fields."}), do statement1, statement2)
For now I have removed the if statement to get the update collection and save collection to work.

If a save button if pressed and all fields are completed, then the else part of the statement display a rectangle with two buttons, yes and no. I can add all my code to the yes button select section. the no button hides the rectangle and buttons.
However, I would still like to know hos to utilize multiple statements within an if. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Fragment fields suddenly become editable from within the FORM

When we added a schema to a form that contains fragments, suddenly the fragment fields became visible and editable from the FORM. The fields in the fragment are normally not editable unless you edit the fragment. (Designer)
This is a huge concern for us, especially as we have new developers coming and going on this project. It is my understanding that fragments should only be editable within the fragment xdp, not from within a form that the fragment is on.
This is a problem that we can repeat / reproduce. Would like to know if it's a bug.

Hi Elaine,
I thought this was a good thing that you can override fragment properties in the document that uses it. Do you get a message "This fragment reference has local overrides to one or more properties of the source fragment" in the Warnings tab.
If you don't want the fragments properties to be override you could wrap the fragment in a custom object.
We have a fragment that has a multiline textfield with a character count and we use the ability to override the properties to update the databinding, caption, traversal, etc., this is then wrapped in a custom object so they can't update what they shouldn't.
The custom object looks something like this;

Adobe LiveCycle - Repeating Tables on a dynamic form - issue!!!! Please help

I have a dynamic licensed form that 3 user groups will be using.
User Group A - completes one section, locks the form and sends to User Group B
User Group B - completes rest of form, form is locked unbeknownst to user group B, they send it back to user group A
User Group A - approves the info, locks entire form as read only and sends to User Group C
User Group C - reads the info and uses it to do some data entry
The form is doing exactly what we need it to do EXCEPT when it comes to repeating sections and tables.
Main part of form - does not repeat
Section 1 - the entire section can be repeated if User Group A needs to add a new section by clicking a button.
Inside Section 1 - contains a table that User Group B can +/- depending on their need & in this table there is drop down list. User Group A needs to populate the list somewhere (AFTER licensing) lock it and when User Group B gets the form, they need to make a selection from the drop down - on ALL the added tables they create,
The above is only working for the first section and first table. we cannot get it to work for the added tables or added sections.
The above is working mainly by java script.
Is there anyone out there who can help? I am desperate and have a rollout coming up quick.

Hi Michelle,
I think we are going to need to see the form to help, is it possible to post a link to it. I assume you have some code in the preOpen event of the drop-down that need populating, I don't think you can dynamically update the items a drop down is bound to (at least not without a remerge() which would probably cause more pain). How are Group A adding values to the list?
