Repetitive kernel messages in log

I am seeing a stream of log messages:
kernel /SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1486.2.11/iokit/Kernel/IOUserClient.cpp: machmsg_send_from_kernelproper {1000000d}
These appear in groups of 2, 3 or 4 -- all exactly the same message -- 10 seconds apart.
Google has provided no insights. Any help would be welcomed.

  • 3 kernel messages in a week - all 3 when the iMac was idle

In the last week I had 3 kernel messages:
All after the iMac was idle for a long time. In the first two times it was "sleeping", and in the third time just the display was asleep (I canceled the computer sleep to test it...)
In all three times, the screen was asleep and the iMac didn't respond to the keyboard/mouse. I had to manually shut it down and then restart it. When it came back up, there was a "your computer had a problem" kernel message, with a report to Apple option.
During the week, I was working with the iMac every day for about 10 hours straight, without any problem... in all 3 cases, the problem occured when the iMac was idle for a long time.
I suspect that its related to a waking up of "something", although I put "never" under "computer sleep" and the "put the had disks to sleep when possible" box is unchecked...
I tested the RAM with both Rember and the AHT and all was ok. AHT didn't find any problem.

Any ideas of what might be causing this? Do you thing it's hardware related although it only happens when the iMac is idle and didn't happen during work time (again, 10 hours straight, daily)?
    Thank you!

    Thank you both.

  • [SOLVED] Ingress packet kernel messages

Since some time, I see these kernel messages in my logs:
(...date...) router kernel: ingress: packet reclassify loop rule prio 0 protocol 03
This happens since one day, I see nothing related in my logs, except that:
1, my ISP is renewing my IP every day around the same time, pppoe-reconnection happened 2 minutes before the first message
2, ddclient updated my dynamic dns address 1 minute following the pppoe-reconnection and 1 minute before the first message.
Nothing else happened around this time, but since, I've got these messages every couple of minutes (3,4,5,6...).
Rebooting has not stopped those messages.
Can anyone tell me, what it is, because googling around did not help too much...
(Yes, the box is a router)
    [EDIT]
I mark this as solved, but I still do not know what caused this exactly. It is somehow related to my traffic-shaping rules, as if I turn them off, the messages disappear.
Anyway, I tghink the messages were totally harmeless...
    [RE_EDIT]
It could be somehow related to iproute2's recent upgrade, as iproute2 provides tc.

    Hi,
Sorry if this matter was already mentioned in this forums, but I wasn't able to find something about it.
I have a MacbookPro 13" Mid 2012, with an i7 Processor and 16GB RAM. I think that since I've upgraded it to Mavericks (10.9.x), today I have 10.9.5, I have some strange messages on log with weird characters, like this one:
    25/09/14 12:22:39,000 kernel[0]: Change trust on Pj+p5?  + 5?u +  (pid 671)
    or this one
    25/09/14 12:20:26,000 kernel[0]: Change trust on \.*+ (pid 667)
Any clue on this kind of behavior?
    Regards,

Try running the combo update to see if it will clear the problem.

  • [SOLVED] systemd: no kernel messages in the journal

    Hi
Currently the journal holds only application logs; I do not see any kernel logs in the journal. This is an old Arch system that was using syslog-ng but was transitioned to systemd when Arch made systemd default. This was working well until about three weeks back, when journal stopped holding kernel messages. The journal was causing journalctl to crash and I couldn't verify the journal since I had FSS setup but forgotten the keys. So, I had disabled the FSS, cleared the journals to startover again. Only to see kernel messages are not getting logged.
I would be grrateful for any help in resolving the issue. Thank you!

OK, I removed the commandline options, regenerated grub config, rebooted.
    journalctl --dmesg starts:

  • Kernel doesn't log ACPI events: ACPI module or Bios corruptions

Well, this is very strange and i dunno where to look at to solve this:
My new NP530U3C (Samusung ultrabook)is running Arch and i'm currently using acpid to trigger the acpi events couse i have no DE (fluxbox).
I can't understand the way my kernel and acpid log the LID event:
    Kernel.log
    Oct 6 20:06:46 localhost kernel: [ 2.105259] ACPI: Lid Switch [LID0]
    Oct 6 20:44:31 localhost kernel: [ 2.111136] ACPI: Lid Switch [LID0]

When i close the lid, i have to wait 10 sec approx to trigger the LID close event and start the suspend action!
on wakeup i don't know because my samsung can wakeup only with the power button (no lid in wakeup events).
    So somebody can enlighten me?
    *EDIT <-----
I can summarize it is a corruption of the Bios/ACPI module that affect this laptop after a certain suspentions circle (I mean not every first suspentions).
I would like to debug in a better way but i have no instruments to investigate:
If someone can point me to a way to debug this stuff like Bios corruptions and/or Kernel module failure...
    Any advide is appreciated

well, is a samsung ultrabook! i'm doing some m ore tests and still 10 sec delayed!
    a note:
when the kernel log the LID state i can suspend instantly after i really close the LID.
after a reboot, and halt/start thigs doesn't changes....
The kernel logger resume after some reboots or *resetting* (using a needle to click a button above the laptop close to the battery) the laptop <-- this method was whrote somewhere and i tried it, and solved sometinms the issue for 2/3 days.
is starnge because it appears without any regularity, but i'm not so pro and is difficult for me to figure out what can trigger the event!
    EDIT
    Oct 7 00:21:58 localhost kernel: [ 686.653890] psmouse serio1: Touchpad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 6
    Oct 7 00:21:59 localhost kernel: [ 686.668774] psmouse serio1: Touchpad at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynced.
dunno if is important, but after a resume from suspend, i got this messege. i thought it was only after it (like a little error in the resume hooks) but no i'm noticing it in  the messages.log every how

  • Crash during sleep with kernel messages

Two days in row now my Macbook Pro Retina crashed during my (long) commute in the car from work to home. It was put to sleep at about 17:10 and I opened it at around 19:30 and noticed immediately that I had crashed when seeing the initial login screen.
Checking the console logs I could see it woke up at around 18:20 and after several messages involving wifi and Calendar it starts outputting a massive amount (500) of kernel messages like the one's below. Does anyone have any idea what this could? Is this a hardware issue?
    31/03/14 18:19:09,000 kernel[0]: [0x4402e1000, 0xf0b000]

    Hello Cuypers,
It sounds like your computer is getting a Kernel Panic. I recommend the information in the following article, and the troubleshooting steps toward the bottom of it named:
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4636
    Preventing unexpected restarts
In most cases, kernel panics are not caused by an issue with the Mac itself. They are usually caused by software that was installed, or a problem with connected hardware.
To help avoid kernel panics, install all available software updates until Software Update reports, "Your software is up to date." OS X updates help your Mac handle the kinds of issues that can cause kernel panics, such as malformed network packets, or third party software issues. For most kernel panics, updating your software is all you have to do.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • Unable to see custom Trace messages in Log Viewer which were defined in UDF

Hello Experts, I am not able to see my trace messages in Log Viewer. I have a small user defined fuction which takes a variable and returns its uppercase and while do that it writes few warning level trace messages in the trace file. I've tried changing the levels from Warning to Info but I still don't see anything in my Log Viewer. At this point I am not even sure if I am looking at right place. When I test my mapping in Message Mapping's Test tab it works fine and shows me all my trace messages. But when I do end to end it is not writing anything to the trace file. I've tried to use instructions from following blogs:
    1. /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2007/04/30/xipi-personalized-logging-tracing(logging and tracing)
    2. /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/05/10/xi-i-cannot-see-some-of-my-messages-in-the-sxmbmoni (logging and tracing)
    3. /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/02/25/simple-java-code-in-graphical-mapping--xi(for my UDF)
but I still don't see traces in my Log Viewer. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong here.
    Thanks in advance!!

Thank you Prateek for a quick response.
Yes I was able to see my trace messages in SXMB_MONI. Below is my the info... This is great. I am still not sure why this info is not showing up in Log Veiwer's (default trace) window. Any ideas? Since this XML file contains lots of other information I was wondering how to put my trace messages into the log viewer.
    Thanks!!

  • LE_SHP_DELIVERY_PROC Error message through Log .

    Hi,
I'm working on a BADI LE_SHP_DELIVERY_PROC inside the method FILL_DELIVERY_ITEM. I have to show an error message over here. If i passed like MESSAGE e000(zless) WITH text-006 text-007 it is displaying message but it is come out from the layout of the transaction in scope.
Te be more specific, when the pop up of message comes out and after that the user click on the "Exit" button, the  system should go back on the previous layout of the report to allow the user making another selection.
    I'm using Vl10D transaction.
Now I'm trying to generate the error message through log by CT_LOG internal table . I have to block the deliveries whichever is creating through this transaction. If for a particular STO there are different loading points then I need to block the deliveries.
I'm trying to block the current delivery using  IS_LIKP-LIFSK = 'X' and also I need to block the previous delivery IT_XLIKP-LIFSK = 'X'.
strange thing is happening with STO which has 2 deliveries are getting created (because error msg is not getting tirggered thorugh log),  though I have blocked the deliveries.
Could you please let me know how can i populate this error message through log as well as I can block the deliveries?
    Thanks in advance,
    Abhijit

    Hi
To lock the delivery, see Note 198137 - VL10: Customer-specific enhancements / user exits and use this userexits. To populate the log I think that using the structure CT_LOG in the BADI is OK. Check when are called the userexit and BADI.
    I hope this helps you
    Regards
    Eduardo

  • Printing messages in Log File and Output File using Dbms_output.put_line

    Hi,
I have a requirement of printing messages in log file and output file using dbms_output.put_line instead of fnd_file.put_line API.
Please let me know how can I achieve this.
I tried using a function to print messages and calling that function in my main package where ever there is fnd_file.put_line. But this approach is not required by the business.
So let me know how I can achieve this functionality.
    Regards

What is the requirement that doesn't allow you using fnd_file.put_line?

  • Using Apple TV for first time - to rent a movie.  Logged in successfully - billing info updated.  Keep getting message to log into Itunes on PC - movie won't load on TV

using Apple TV for first time - to rent a movie.  Logged in successfully - billing info updated.  Keep getting message to log into Itunes on PC - movie won't load on TV -
    any advice?

3GB for a movie? That's almost equivalent to an original DVD.
Have you checked in the Recently Added playlist?
I think this is possibly linear.  Select 'normal' in HB, iTunes accepts it; select 'high quality' in HB iTunes doesn't.  I can't say why; I don't have any video that anywhere approaches 3GB in size.  If that's how iTunes behaves I don't see you have too many options.  You either select normal and it works, or you select HQ and live with playing the movie outside of iTunes.
I won't ask what movie because any help with illegally ripped copy protected DVDs is strictly prohibited by the Terms of Use so I'm assuming this is a 6 hour video of your puppy playing on the floor.

Any idea what this message could mean and if there is any workaround?
I found a BUG but it's not well documented :
    CSCuf05039
Symptom: I2C-WRITE and MDIO_READ error messages are displayed on the Cisco ASR903 router.
Conditions: This issue occurs after an interface module hard or soft OIR is performed.
    Workaround: There is no workaround.

    Hi Reza,
Thanks for your reply...yes lldp is enabled...and so far we did:
    - Reapply voice-vlan configuration
    - Disable/Enable LLDP
    - Reboot the Switch
    - Reset the Phones
... and only if we do "debug lldp" then it is working...strange
