Replacement for package manager and packagekit (Gnome)

Hello everyone,
following up to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=191276 (removal of packagekit to be able to upgrade pacman to 4.2), and given the fact that packagekit had been flagged deprecated for quite some time,
does anyone have a suggestion for a desktop replacement for gnome-packagekit?

For GTK based environment I use pamac-aur. Simple packet manager, update manager and update notifier (in fact for update notification I use aarchup with systemd timer scheduling)

Q&A db for warehouse management and inventory management

Hello Everybody,
i read on the help.sap website that standard as well as industry specific versions of Q&A db are available. but the website doesnt say where. i searched a lot but the links dont lead to the actual Q&A db.
i would like to request you to kindly share the Q&A db for inventory management and warehouse management with me as i need it for preparing the AS IS documentation.(preferably automotive industry but if not then even standard Q&A db is fine).

Now QADB will not help to map the clinets requirement. Instead of QADB get AS IS information form Coreusers... thats best practice now....

JKI package manager and LV7.1?

Hi folks,
If this isn't the appropriate forum for this question, please re-direct me. I'm using LV7.1 at work and home. At home, I'm running it under Vista - I haven't run into any problems with this, but I'm not using any hardware - just writing standalone programs for number crunching type stuff. Having recently seen the Moore Good Ideas VI packages, I decided to try installing them at home, but I can't get the required JKI Package Manager to work properly. It recognizes the LV version and will even launch LV, but when I go to install a VI package (any package, MGI or OpenG, etc.), it just sits there with the Package Manager process indicator going endlessly (I let it run for 20 mins once). I am sure I have the LV settings correct per the instructions. Does anyone have experience with this combination (JKI pkg mgr/LV71/Vista) or possibly the former two with XP? Some of the available VI packages are supposedly compatible with LV7 (and 6 for that matter), so I assumed it would work somehow - bad assumption?

Restricting access for import manager and syndicator

Hi All,
I wanted to know whether is there any way on how we can restrict the access to import manger and syndicator.
I have one scenario whether user needs to be given the access to data manager only but not to other components.It is ok if they are able to open but should not be able to import or syndicate.

No i get your point Nitin,I said if a unwanted user logs into Import manager he can try to add/modify/replace record,this can be stopped if he is not given the rights.For this go to Console,Admin table and goto Roles and set rights and privileges on that.
whenever a user logs into Import Manager he has to give his user id and password,and from there we can control this.
If he tries to import records,it will fail.also if he tries to modify map,it wil fail too.
To get a clearer picture try doing it for one user and run this scenario.
An excerpt froim reference guide:
"The groups and functions displayed in the Name column are listed in Table 89; access privileges for each function are directly editable in the Functions pane"

Has anyone found a plug in to replace Keyword Manager for iPhoto 9 and 11? I don't want to upgrade to Lion until I have a replacement that will help me search for my library of 60,000 photos.

Minimum steps required for Change Management and Incident management

Hello experts,
Does anyone have a check list of the absolute minimum steps required for getting Change Management and Incident management functioning in Solution Manager.
I just need it to function with creating changes and incidents and be able to assign them, change their status and close them.
The purpose is to get an idea if this is something for us to use. If we then find it useable, then we will go for a full scale implementation using official guides, education etc.
I just need an absolute minimum guide for demonstrating the functions, and if you guys have any recommendations, things we should pay special attention to or other experiences feel free to tell me.

Replacement for QSIMG, AU015 and XEDT in payroll schema Q000 in ERP 6.0

Hi SAP Gurus,
I am involved in SAP HR upgrade from R/3 4.6c to ERP 6.0 for country AU.
Now, there are three functions - namely QSIMG, AU015 & XEDT - that have become obsolete in payroll schema Q000 in ERP 6.0. Can anyone please let me know what are the replacements for these functions in payroll schema Q000 in ERP 6.0.
How is SAP handling the functionalities of these functions - QSIMG, AU015, XEDT in payroll schema Q000 in ERP 6.0
Any pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Satellite A135-SP4088: Need XP drivers for power management and Hotkey utility

I couldn't find drivers for the toshiba A135-SP4088, we bought 3 of them for the office and it's almost impossible to use with vista, so we go to XP SP2, and manage to get almost all of the drivers from other models, but i cannot find 2 utilities that work with this machine, they are:
Toshiba Power Management (the bulb in the task bar, remember?) :D
Hotkey Utility (so I can change Screen brightness, and go to hibernation (Fn+F4)
I have al the rest working, quite nicely but these two are a real problem, none of the ones I tested worked, some even crash the XP and have to go back to a previous restore point.
also, I didn't install any ACPI drivers, are they required?, which ones show I look for? since the model doesn't exist in csd.toshiba.com site.
Now, How one of the greatest notebooks manufacturers in the world can build such a nice computer without making drivers for the most widely used operating system?, can anyone explain me this because i sincerely don't understand it.

The Satellite A135-SP4088 seems to be designed for the US market so you should use the Toshiba US driver page for the driver download!!!!
But why you need the Toshiba power saver for XP? The XP supports an own power options and also the hibernation option. This option must be enabled in the control panel -> power options -> hibernate tab

Toshiba page does not provide any special ACPI drivers. The OS uses own Microsoft drivers and the installation of any 3rd applications is not necessary!!!!

Using vrf for separating management and user traffic

We use vrf in our network for separating user / production traffic vs management traffic. but the way we have used it has turned out to be messy and we are in a situation where we no longer have the distinction between the two. I personally feel that vrf is a great way to separate management vs user traffic.
Here is why I am in a dilema
If VLANS for users computers and server VLANS are in USERS vrf
and management servers ( including domain controllers, AD) are in management vrf , there is no way this will work . and this was the reason we thought it was going to work. now I am wondering if using vrf is even necessary in an enterprise environment when management traffic can be separated on server end and not so much at the clients end.
anyone has any ideas how to go about this..

Hello, very interesting scenario! I was in a similar position to you. I agree VRF's are great for management purposes, as it provides you with total segregation of routing instances. In fact the newer cisco devices come with vrf's configured for management out the box, with a separate interface for management only (for the network device itself).
However, when it comes to enterprise networks and you have domain controllers, file servers, messaging, maybe ACS or ISE, proxies etc... and other services that should be available for your users, is there any point in using vrf's to separate users from management servers. Lets take for example:
A PC on the domain, and I want to log in using my AD credentials. You need to be able to contact the domain controller(s) in order to login right? Since vrf's are contained they will have no routes to get to different networks in other vrf's. Except when configured to do so.
Unless you do something called vrf route leaking or advertising. It's explained well here:

Anyway, nevertheless - you are still going to be providing reachability via routing, so this defeats the purpose kindof... It could add unnecessary complexity too.
Me personally, I just made sure that they were separated by VLAN's and had a dedicated vrf for management, i.e. ssh, snmp etc... to the network devices. I weighed up and thought its not worth doing something that will not really be of any benefit.
I can understand the need for ISPs and large service providers to use this but not business/enterprise.

Business Content for Funds Management and Purchase Orders

Dear all
Our controlling department asks me to have SAP Funds Management and Purchase Order reporting in BW and thus BO. SAP standard report FMRP_RFFMAV01X shows pretty much what they would like to see: Distributable Budget by Funds Center and how it got spent by the Purchase Orders.
I tried to find what SAP BI content can offer. I found for example DSO 0BBP_PO in the "Enterprise Buyer" BI content, but this only shows purchase orders. On the other hand, cube 0PU_C02 shows funds line items, but nowhere a reference to the Purchase orders.
Could anyone advise if there is something in the BI content combining FM and PO?

The Functional cosultants in the Team should be able to answer this as to how the integration has been done and the respective tables.
In case there is no STD datasources then you can build a view of Generic Datasource based on the Tables Recommended by the FC Team.
Also check how Fundcentre is mapped in MM module,like it may be same as Profit centre or Plant.
In that case get both the data in BW and build a MP/IS and report for both the KPIs...Amount Alloted and Amount Spent ,if drill down is require then show the POs.

App-V 5.0 SP3 SQL Script modifications (KB3031340) Required for both Management and Reporting Databases?

Can anyone confirm if I need to modify the InsertVersionInfo.sql and Permisioins.sql scripts for both the APP-V Management and Reporting databases? KB3031340 only references the Management Database, but I suspect it is required for both.

It should only apply to Management Database. There weren't any changes to the Reporting DB AFAIK.

What are the best practices for Database management and performance tuning?

I want to ensure that I am using the best practices for managing and maintaining our Database.
Is there any documentation out there that outlines how to maintain and ensure top performance out of our database?

I am specificaly looking for best practices invloving the managment and performance tuning.
Example: are their tools that I can install that will monitor the size and response time of the database and alert me if there is degradation in performance?
Are there specific periodic activities I should be doing to garuntee that my database will continue to function that way it is supposed to?
Or is this a fire and forget solution that does not need this attention?

Looking for a replacement for quicken home and small business.

I run a small business out of my home and have used Quicken Home & Small Business for years. I still do by running Windows on my Mac via VMWare Fusion. I need a product that will handle business accounts and personal accounts just like Quicken does.
Does anyone know of a suitable replacement? I am sick of Windows, but love the functionality Quicken Home & Small Business offers.

I switched to SEE Finance last week. The support is good and they state they are going to make several more upgrades to the product. Right now, no check printing. I have been able to download from Wells Fargo with no problem and the conversion from Quicken 2007 went as advertised. Free to download and use - the $29 license fee gets rid of the invitation to purchase and register that pops up when you start the program. Otherwise, there are no features you are locked out of.
