Replacing standard usermanagement par with custom usermanagement par
Hi all,
I had to make some changes on the standard user administration(like hiding fields, creating new fields), for which I have downloaded the standard com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin.par.
i made a copy(com.***.portal.usermanagement.admin.par) of it and made the changes it works fine with all the changes when I run it from portalapp.xml
Now I need to put this par file in place of the standard one for the changes to effect.
Any idea what all configuration changes do I need to make
thanks in advance
Paul
Detlev
I have made similar changes to the com.sap.portal.runtime.logon par. which is the logon page to the portal.
What I have done there is made a copy of the standard par, customised it.
Now I copied the custom par back into the PCD.
Then I modified the authshemes,xml file, replacing all the occurances of string com.sap.portal.runtime.logon with com.***.portal.runtime.logon(custom par).
Restarted the j2ee engine , I have the new logon page working.
I have all the standard functionality working fine along with the changed look and feel.
I m thinking there should be a similar way out for the usermanagement par too.
let me know if u have any inf.
thanks.

How Can I replace newScale Text Strings with Custom Values?
How can I replace newScale text strings with custom values?
All newScale text is customizable. Follow the procedure below to change the value of any text string that appears in RequestCenter online pages.
Procedure
1. Find out the String ID of the text string you would like to overwrite by turning on the String ID display:
a) Navigate to the RequestCenter.ear/config directory.
b) Open the newscale.properties file and add the following name-value pair at the end of the file:res.format=2
c) Save the file.
d) Repeat steps b and c for the RmiConfig.prop and RequestCenter.prop files.
e) Stop and restart the RequestCenter service.
f) Log in to RequestCenter and browse to the page that has the text you want to overwrite. In front of the text you will now see the String ID.
g) Note down the String ID's you want to change.
2. Navigate to the directory: /RequestCenter.ear/RequestCenter.war/WEB-INF/classes/com/newscale/bfw.
3. Create the following sub-directory: res/resources
4. Create the following empty text files in the directory you just created:
RequestCenter_0.properties
RequestCenter_1.properties
RequestCenter_2.properties
RequestCenter_3.properties
RequestCenter_4.properties
RequestCenter_5.properties
RequestCenter_6.properties
RequestCenter_7.properties
5. Add the custom text strings to the appropriate RequestCenter_<Number>.properties file in the following manner (name-value pair) StringID=YourCustomTextString
Example: The StringID for "Available Work" in ServiceManager is 699.
If you wanted to change "Available Work" to "General Inbox", you would add the following line to the RequestCenter_0.properties file
699=General Inbox
Strings are divided into the following files, based on their numeric ID:

7. Restart RequestCenter.
Your customized text should be displayed.I've recently come across this information and it was very helpful in changing some of the inline text.
However, one place that seemed out of reach with this method was the three main buttons on an "Order" page. Specifically the "Add & Review Order" button was confusing some of our users.
Through the use of JavaScript we were able to modify the label of this button. We placed JS in the footer.html file that changes the value of the butt -
Replace standard fail popup with a custom one
Dear all,
I want to know if it's possible to replace the FAIL popup with a custom one.
I want to do this because at a FAIL I also want to display what the tester can do to solve the problem.
gr,
BartIts possible by overriding the POST UUT call back sequence ( refer help document for overriding callbacks).
When you override the post uut there will be no popup.In the over ridden post uut call back sequence you can either call a custom vi\dll or even use a message popup to display.
Also refer to the parameters of the overridden post uut callback to get the pass fail status.
Hope this helps. -
To replace standard smartform by a custom form, to be used in PRINT PREVIEW
Hi,
I have a requirement in CRM 2007 webUI. If we try to create a sales order, then we have a toolbar option button with title "PRINT PREVIEW". It uses the custom smart form "CRM_ORDER_CONFIRMATION_01.
I have to replace this standard form by a Z custom form. This form has soem additional data required for business needs.
Field technical details of the button is :
1. Component Name- BT115H_SLSO
2. View - SOHOverview
3. Context Node - THTMLB
4. Attribute- BUTTON_8
5. Role key - BP_POW_USR
6. Comp. Usage - CUBT Sales Order
7. Object Type - BT115_SLSO
Please reply as soon as possible.To figure this out you need to do the following:
First determine the action profile for the transaction in question in the IMG.
CRM->Transactions->Basic Settings->Define Transaction Types
Display the detials of the transaction and you will see the action profile. Next copy that action profile by using transaction SPPFCADM. Then in the action defintion for the print action, replace the standard smartform definition with your z-form.
Finally go back into the transaction definition and assign the z-profile to your transaction type. Please note you should only do this with "z-transactions".
I'm not going to go into further detail as this is basic CRM configuration and is valid for all releases. Please look at the best practices guides, or do a search in the CRM General and Framework forum for further information on how to do the configuration steps.
Take care,

Can we modify the standard AOL Message with custom Message in Seeded Page?
Hi,
I have a requirement to change AOL Message with custom Message in Seeded Page.
In a seeded OAF page when a user clicks on a submit button a standard AOL Processing Message is populated.
I Need to change the Standard Message and call Custom Message.
Did controller extension and found that both the messages are populating.
called the code after super and tried to call before super also.
Did any one face this issue and resolved it. Kindly provide the solution.
Regards
ChaitanyaHi Gyan,
I have tried by extending a sample custom controller.
Below is the code of TestCO calling create message
public void processFormRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
super.processFormRequest(pageContext, webBean);
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
if (pageContext.getParameter("Test") != null)
OAException confirmMessage = new OAException("AK", "FWK_TBX_T_EMP_CREATE_CONFIRM", null,
OAException.CONFIRMATION, null);
pageContext.putDialogMessage(confirmMessage);
}Then I extending the TestCO to XXTestCO and it is calling Update Message
public void processFormRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
super.processFormRequest(pageContext, webBean);
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
if (pageContext.getParameter("Test") != null)
OAException confirmMessage = new OAException("AK", "FWK_TBX_T_EMP_UPDATE_CONFIRM", null,
OAException.CONFIRMATION, null);
pageContext.putDialogMessage(confirmMessage);
}got below Confirmation
Confirmation
Employee &EMP_NAME with the number &EMP_NUMBER has been created.
Employee (&EMP_NAME) has been updated.
Tried below approach also calling the message before super class
public void processFormRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
if (pageContext.getParameter("Test") != null)
OAException confirmMessage = new OAException("AK", "FWK_TBX_T_EMP_UPDATE_CONFIRM", null,
OAException.CONFIRMATION, null);
pageContext.putDialogMessage(confirmMessage);
super.processFormRequest(pageContext, webBean);
}got below Confirmation
Confirmation
Employee (&EMP_NAME) has been updated.
Employee &EMP_NAME with the number &EMP_NUMBER has been created.
My requirement is to print only the message which I have kept in Extended controller i.e. Update message

How to filter standard ALV report with custom UI element?
Hello Expert,
I got a requirement to filter standard ALV report based on the custom UI element (which is created in the screen before displaying the ALV report). Upon entering the values in the Custom field, the ALV report is displayed accordingly.
Any ideas how to approach it?
Thanks,
MohammedHi,
Okay, let me explain the steps in detail
Let us say you have alv table with 10 records and alv table is shown first time with all 10 records
Create an internal table in component controller's attribute GT_ORIGINAL_DATA and save all 10 records into this table first time
Now, user enters value in FILTER_MATNR field 123 and press apply_filter button or press enter key
Read the value of field filter_matnr and get the only matching records from global internal table GT_ORIGINAL_DATA into local internal table as below
data lv_matnr type matnr.
data lt_data like wd_comp_controller->gt_original_data.
" read the value from context attribute of filter_matnr
lv_matnr = ???
" copy all data into local table
lt_data[] = wd_comp_controller->gt_original_data.
"delete the records which does not match
delete lt_data where matnr NP lv_matnr.
Now, bind the data lt_data to context node of alv table
Hope this helps you.

Hello,
Queries
1. Is it possible to use Batch Reading in conjunction with Custom Stored Procs/ SQL?
2. Is it possible to map an attribute to a SQL expression (like in Hibernate we have formula columns mapped using the formula* property)?
Background
1. We use Toplink 11g (11.1.1.0.1) (not EclipseLink) in our application and are controlling mapping using XML files (not annotations).
2. We are migrating a legacy application with most of its data retreival logic present in stored procedures to Java.
3. I am effectively a newbie to Toplink.
Scenario
1. We have a deep class heirarchy with ClassA+ at the following having a one-to-many relation with ClassB+ and ClassB+ having a one-to-many relation with ClassC+ and so on and so forth.
2. For each of these classes the data retreival logic is present in stored procedures (coming from the legacy application) containing not so simple queries.
3. Also there are a quite a few attributes that actually represent computed values (computed and returned from the stored procedure). Also the logic for computing the values are not simple either.
4. So to make things easy we configured toplink to use the stored procedures to retreive data for objects of ClassA+, ClassB+ and ClassC+.
5. But since the class heirarchy was deep, we ended up firing too many stored procedure calls to the database.
6. We thought we could use the Batch Reading feature to help with this, but I have come across documentation that says that it wont work if you override toplink's queries with stored procedures.
7. I wrote some sample code to determine this and for the heirarchy shown above it uses the speicifed Custom procedure (I also tried replacing the stored procs with custom SQL, but the behavior is the same) for ClassA+ and ClassB+, but for ClassC+ and below it resorts to its own generated SQL.
8. This is a problem because the generated SQL contains the names of the computed columns which is not present in the underlying source tables.
Thanks
ArvindBatch reading is not supported with custom SQL or stored procedures.
Join fetching is though, so you may wish to investigate that (you need to ensure you return the correct data from the stored procedure).

Problem with embedded data-sources.xml and custom UserManager
Hi all,
Our application uses a custom UserManager, which is basically extended from the JDBC UserManager, declared as follows in orion-application.xml:
<user-manager class="com.infocorpnow.a2g.security.oracle.A2GUserManager">
<property name="table" value="pos.users" />
<property name="userNameField" value="username" />
<property name="passwordFiled" value="password" />
<property name="dataSource" value="jdbc/A2GDS" />
<property name="groupMemberShipTableName" value="pos.user_roles" />
<property name="groupMemberShipGroupFieldName" value="role_name" />
<property name="groupMemberShipUserNameFieldName" value="login_id" />
</user-manager>
Since we want to be able to deploy the application several times on the application server, and therefore have each deployment of the ear point to its own datasource (i.e. its own local "A2GDS"), we've found out how to embed data-sources.xml inside the EAR file we're deploying, and modify the orion-application.xml as follows:
<data-sources path="./data-sources.xml" />
And then place data-sources.xml in the same meta-inf folder as the orion-application.xml.
This has worked fine when deploying to the standalone OC4J.
Now when I try to deploy the exact same EAR file in Oracle 9iAS, and I get to the User Manager screen, the Custom User Manager does not show up correctly. It did show up prior to me embedding the data-sources.xml. Please help? This is fairly urgent.
Thanks
JasonI should also mention I'm using the Java Edition of 9iAS R2 (9.0.3 container) on Solaris.

9.0.4 custom UserManager (it worked in 9.0.3)
I have a UserManager that works with our app in 9.0.3. Am trying to migrate to 9.0.4 and the UserManager doesn't work.
Our UserManager extends com.evermind.security.AbstractUserManager and our User class extends com.evermind.security.User. When run, there are no errors or exceptions. Our UserManager returns our custom User object, the authenticate method is called on it by the container (we rewrote the authenticate method to simply return true), and then the request is forward to the form-error-page defined in web.xml.
Any ideas? We're desperate, the need to upgrade is being pushed from above...There was a bug in 9.0.4 that has been fixed in 9.0.4.1. Please apply the 9.0.4.1 patchset and see whether this is resolved

How to access to Custom UserManager
Hi,
How to access to my own UserManager from an EJB ? with lookup ?
I have got own custom UserManager, and I access it with a lookup from an EJB (UserManagerEJB) in the same application, but I get the next error :
OrionUserManagerEJB javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: ejb/UserManager not found in Orion
UserManagerEJB
This same code works fine in OC4J 9.0.3 but not works in OC4J 10.0.3, please help me !Hi,
I visited all webs and I readed all articles referents to UserManager but I don't found the solution.
I use the nex code to lookup my UserManager :
Context ctx=new InitialContext();
UserManager um=(UserManager)ctx.lookup("java:comp/UserManager");
And I user the next factory :
com.evermind.server.ApplicationInitialContextFactory
I tried with com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory too, but not works it.
I don't understand the problem ! why the same code works fine in OC4J 9.0.3 and not works in OC4J 10.0.3 ? Any response ? -
[904] custom UserManager can't access JNDI?
Our app has a custom UserManager which works in 1.0.2.2. In the init method, our user manager is trying to lookup a datasource (defined in the global data-sources.xml) whose name has been passed as a property in application.xml file.
While trying to perform the jndi lookup for the datasource in 9.0.4, we are getting the following error:
javax.naming.NamingException: Not in an application scope - start Orion with the -userThreads switch if using user-created threads
I've tried -userThreads option but makes no difference.
What do I need to configure to make this work?
TIA,
- nik.Me again!
So I found that I can't do jndi lookup (NamingException) for the datasource as mentioned, in the init method.
However, the very same jndi lookup was successful in the overridden authenticate method, called by oc4j when trying to authenticate the user.
Go figure!
TIA,
- nik. -

Custom UserManager and Enterprise Manager administration
Can Enterprise Manager be used to Add/Remove Users and Groups for a Customer UserManager? I remember reading somewhere that Add/Remove only worked for the XML-file based implementations. Now I can't find where I read that.
Not likely. That is the reason why they published the Apex 2.1 'database management' pages.
Express Edition doesn't support Java in the database. Enterprise Manager is based on Java. You CAN use Grid Control for some of the stuff, but it's incomplete.
