Report Builder 2.0 - Filtering multiple values with LIKE command

Hi,
I'm trying to use multiple values for a LIKE command in the Tablix Properties-Filters area. I thought this would be easy, and it may yet prove to be easy yet I'm banging my head against the wall at the moment.
I have created a new filter with:
Expression: Campaign
Operator: Like
Value: 02A*
So, I only want the Campaign codes returned that start with 02A. Now, this on it own works fine, the issue begins when I want to add in the Campaigns beginning with 02K. I have tried adding a separate new filter underneath the first as well as using the
OR command, yet, nothing is working correctly. When adding a separate filter it appears to work as an AND in conjunction with my first filter for 02A, but needs to work independently as an OR.
Any help much appreciated.
Mike

Hi Mike,
Based on my research, this should be a product issue in Report Builder 2.0. In your scenario, you should use “true” (without the quotes) to replace “True”. While changing True to true cannot work via UI since the UI will automatically change the true to
True again. To work around this issue in Report Builder 2.0, you have to modify the True to true in the code view mode.
After testing the issue in my environment again, I find another way to fix this issue. Please see:
Expression: =(Fields!Campaign.Value like "02A*") OR (Fields!Campaign.Value like "02K*" )
Type: Text or Boolean (Boolean type will automatically change to Text type)
Operator: =
Value: =true
Btw, this issue has been fixed in Report Builder 3.0, the filter which you posted will be work great in Report Builder 3.0.
If you have any other question, please feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong

• How can I return multiple values with PL/SQL Web Services

Hi,
I'm new to developping Web Services. I'm doing some tests with JDeveloper and OC4J on my local machine with a Web Services based on a PL/SQL function within a package. Right now that function only returns one value. So the xml response only has one output.
I'd like to know how can I return multiple values with my PL/SQL Web Service. For example, if I want to return an employee's name and id? And that the xml contains two output : <employee>, <empid>?
Reginald
ps : I have searched the forum and I couldn't find an answer to this question, if that has been discussed AND answered before, can you please post the link? Thanks

Alright, I actually found my answer. Since this was asked I think as a followup somewhere else I'll give my answer.
It is very simple, all you have to do is create an Object Type and then Return that object type. After that, JDeveloper will take care of everything and you will have an xml response with multiple values. Here
{color:#ff0000}
create or replace TYPE person AS OBJECT
( id_interv number,
first_name VARCHAR2(50),
last_name VARCHAR2(50),
date_birth date
);{color}
Then your function used in your Web Service should look something like this :
{color:#ff0000}
function info_emp (p_empno IN VARCHAR2) RETURN person AS
l_emp person := person(-1,'','','');
BEGIN
SELECT first_name
,last_name
,emp_no
INTO l_emp.first_name
,l_emp.last_name
,l_emp.emp_no
FROM emp
WHERE upper(emp_no) = upper (emp_no);
{color}
{color:#ff0000}
RETURN l_emp;
EXCEPTION WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
l_emp := person (-1,'n/a','n/a','n/a');
RETURN l_emp ;
END info_emp;{color}
{color:#ff0000}{color:#000000}After that, this is what the xml response looks like :{color}{color}
<first_name xsi:type="xsd:string">John</first_name>
<last_name xsi:type="xsd:string">Doe</last_name>
<emp_no xsi:type="xsd:string">0250193</emp_no>

• SSRS (Report Builder 3.0) Showing all values for Multiple Line field with Append Changes

I have a simple SharePoint list with a multiple line column that has append changes enabled. I am doing a report with Report Builder 3.0 and I want to show all values of the field the same way you achieve it through a DVWP using:<SharePoint:AppendOnlyHistory

Any suggestions to show all the appended values?

• Not Working-LexicalParamater used to send multiple values with one prameter

Hi,
I am calling a reportname.rdf from the web(using apache webserver and url as follows:
http://localhost/cgi-bin/rwcgi60.exe?server=reportservername&report=acctActivity.rdf&userid=bizsystest/[email protected]&destype=cache&desformat=pdf&placeholdercolumnname='2,3,4'&docid=2
I have to send multiple values for fundid.
To accomplish this,
I created a placeholder column and initialized the value '0' and type taken as character(even though datatype of this column is number).
In sql query
select table1.c1, table2.c2 from table1, table2, table3, table4 where table1.cl in (&placeholdercolumname)
and table1.c2 = table2.c2(+)
and table3.doccode = :docid
From Web, URL contains the placeholdercolumnnmae='2,3,4'
Still its taking the value zero and output is generating.
Its not taking my newvalues ('2,3,4') in IN parameter.
I donot know the reason, where exactly is wrong.
Please help me to resolve.
2. My Second Issue:
Is there anyway, can we hide all key/value parameters send through the URL not visible to endusers
like servername, database userid and password and configure some where, so system can pickup each time when I run report.
Please help me to resolve.
Thanks,
Usha.

Hi Usha,
First of all, I assume that the place holder column you have specified is a UserParameter which you have specified on the command line. I don't think there is any direct way of doing that.
I created a placeholder column and initialized the value '0' and type taken as character(even though datatype of this column is number). If I infer correctly from what you are saying, you can't mix and match the datatypes of the columns, you can't define the parameter as a number and pass characters. I suggest you declare your parameter as a character with sufficient width to hold your LOV and then process them convert them to numbers.
Another suggestion is try replacing your "Placeholder" with another query construct.
For your Second issue,
You can use the Key-Map file Oracle Reports provides for the Web client. Please refer to
<ORACLE_HOME>\Report60\server\cgicmd.dat.
In the cgicmd.dat,you can alias your entire commandline with a single key and use that key in your URL.
Regards
Oracle Reports Team.

• How to search for multiple values with Bex Prompts

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to search for multiple values at the same time with Bex Prompts instead of searching one value at a time (please see the screen shot below). I searched the forum couldn't find any relevant answers. please let me know how to achieve?
Thanks,
Charvi.

Hi Charvi,
You can use wild card search to ensure you get multiple similar values listed as search output.use * for multiple characters and ? for single character.
For Example, Ravi * would result you all employees with first name as Ravi
You can use various search formats such as * Ravi * and * Ravi and Ra?? etc.
Thanks

• Filtering multiple values in URL of a WAD

Hello,
I want to filter a WAD by the field 0FUNDS_CTR (Fund center).
I'm adding this to the end of the WAD's URL and it works fine:
&Filter_Iobjnm=0FUNDS_CTR&Filter_value=XXXX
The problem is that I want to filter the field by multiple values (XXXX, YYYY, ZZZZ), that are different values, not a range or something like that.
Is there a way to filter a list of values in the url?
Thanks,
Hadar

Hi,
For example , If there are two values to be filtered then use as
&Filter_Iobjnm_1=0FUNDS_CTR&Filter_value_1=XXXX&&Filter_Iobjnm_2=0FUNDS_CTR&Filter_value_2=YYYY
The index can grow in size and the BW server will recognize the parameters for filtering.
Thanks

Hi All,
Is there any option to use multiple values in 1 substitution variable and use them in a Maxl command.
alter database $app_name.$db_name clear data in region '{CrossJoin(CrossJoin(CrossJoin({StrTOMbr(&Months)},{XXX, YYY}),{StrTOMbr(&CURYR)}), {ZZZ})}'physical;

• Bug report: oracle.jbo.ViewCriteriaRow: string attribute value with '

Setting a ViewCriteriaRow attribute to a string value with an ' (apostrophe) causes an exception. Example:
ViewCriteriaRow vcr;
vcr.setAttributeValue ("Nachname", "D'Heur");
this should match with the Nachname column exactly with D'Heur, but the BC4J-SQL-Generator generates an SQL statement with "Nachname like 'D'Heur'" in the where clause. Using bind variables like "Nachname like :1" would help. Here the sample exception (BC4J in Jdev 9.0.3.4):

Single quotes must be doubled in SQL statements to be legal. I've filed Bug# 3574900 for us to do a better job on fixing up this case in the future, but there's an easy workaround idea for now.
If you don't want the user to have to know/remember this, you could override the getViewCriteriaClause() method in your ViewObjectImpl class, and "fix up" the view criteria attributes to double-up occurrences of single apostrophe's before returning super.getViewCriteriaClause().
Here's a quick web log entry on it with some sample code:

• Selecting multiple cells with keyboard command?

Is there a way in Numbers to select many adjecent cells in a column without using the mouse? I have a document that has thousands of rows, so selecting 2000 cells in a column with the mouse for example, obviously takes forever. I would love to be able to give the command 'select A1 to A2000'

Hi Jerry,
I didn't want to select the full column, only part of it, like 2000 cells somewhere in the middle of 4000. But your tip made me play around with the Command and Shift keys and I figured out a way to do it. I selcted the full column, then I Command-clicked on the first cell I wanted to in my selection. That made a 'gap' in the selction. Now I went to the very top of the document and Shift-clicked on the first cell. Then all the cells above my first target cell was de-selected. Then I did the same thing and Command-clikced on the the last cell I wanted to highlight, and then went to the last cell of the document and used Shift-Click do deselect everything below the last cell I wanted to select.

• Returning multiple values with SELECT FOR LOOP

OEL 5.8
===========
Would like to know how to do the following?
for x, y in (select name, street
from employees
where hire_date < sysdate - 100)
loop
In other words, is there a way to handle 2 (or more) values in a SELECT FOR LOOP structure? If not, then how to accomplish the same task.
The above does not work of course. :-)
Appreciate any and all advice.

Yes, just have one name in your for loop and that becomes the equivalent of a table name and reference the columns as that name.column name
for t in (select name, street
from employees
where hire_date < sysdate - 100)
loop
dbms_output.put_line('name = '||t.name);
dbms_output.put_line('street = '||t.street);

• Update multiple records with Update Command Dreamweaver 8.0.2 - ASP VBScript

Dreamweaver 8.0.2 - Language ASP – VBScript
I’m trying to update more than one record at a time
using checkboxes. I’ve successfully done this numerous times
prior to Dreamweaver 8.0.2.
Before Dreamweaver 8.0.2, I would create a page with a
recordset, form, checkbox and repeat region and pass the ID to
another page containing an ‘Update Command’. The code
on the Update page looked similar to the following:
<%
if(Request.QueryString("MemberID") <> "") then
spMemberApproving__MMColParam = Request.QueryString("MemberID")
%>
<%
set spMemberApproving = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
spMemberApproving.ActiveConnection =
MM_connIssuesManager_STRING
spMemberApproving.CommandText = "UPDATE tblMembers SET
MemberApproved = 1 WHERE MemberID IN (" +
Replace(spMemberApproving__MMColParam, "'", "''") + ")"
spMemberApproving.CommandType = 1
spMemberApproving.CommandTimeout = 0
spMemberApproving.Prepared = true
spMemberApproving.Execute()
Response.Redirect("default.asp")
%>
However, in Dreamweaver 8.0.2 when you fill out the Update
Command dialog box, Dreamweaver asks you to provide the
‘Type’ and ‘Size’ for the variables (see:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=4e6b330a
That being said and done, the code on the Update page looks
like the following:
<%
' IIf implementation
Function MM_IIf(condition, ifTrue, ifFalse)
If condition = "" Then
MM_IIf = ifFalse
Else
MM_IIf = ifTrue
End If
End Function
%>
<%
if(Request.QueryString("MemberID") <> "") then
spMemberApproving__MMColParam = Request.QueryString("MemberID")
%>
<%
Set spMemberApproving = Server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Command")
spMemberApproving.ActiveConnection =
MM_connIssuesManager_STRING
spMemberApproving.CommandText = "UPDATE tblMembers SET
MemberApproved = 1 WHERE MemberID IN (?) "
spMemberApproving.Parameters.Append
spMemberApproving.CreateParameter("MMColParam", 202, 1, 10,
MM_IIF(Request.QueryString("MemberID"),
Request.QueryString("MemberID"), spMemberApproving__MMColParam
spMemberApproving.CommandType = 1
spMemberApproving.CommandTimeout = 0
spMemberApproving.Prepared = true
spMemberApproving.Execute()
Response.Redirect("default.asp")
%>
The Update Command works perfectly when only 1 record is
being updated. However, when I try to update more than one record I
get the following error:
Error Type:
ADODB.Command (0x800A0D5D)
Application uses a value of the wrong type for the current
operation.
/issues_manager/admin/members_approving.asp, line 27
Can anyone help me out?

Yes, this is a bug in Dreamweaver 8.0.2. The only workaround
is to stay with
8.0.1 or to hand-code the query. Adobe removed most of the
useful ways to
use Commands and Recordsets in 8.0.2 and limited it to basic
queries.

• Update Multiple Column with Single Command with Join between Two tables.

This is our command where we are trying to update a table's two columns by pulling values from another table after joining. This query takes too much time to execute. Any suggestions ?
UPDATE raw_alc_rmfscombinednew
SET (BSC, CELL_NAME) =
SELECT distinct raw_alc_R110combinednew.BSC, raw_alc_R110combinednew.CELL_NAME
FROM raw_alc_R110Combinednew
WHERE
raw_alc_R110Combinednew.OMC_ID = raw_alc_rmfscombinednew.OMC_ID
AND raw_alc_R110Combinednew.CELL_CI = raw_alc_rmfscombinednew.CI
AND RAW_ALC_R110COMBINEDNEW.START_TIME = RAW_ALC_RMFSCOMBINEDNEW.START_TIME
Results of Last execution:
Elapsed Time (sec) 4,476.56
CPU Time (sec) 4,471.88
Wait Time (sec) 4.68
Executions that Fetched all Rows (%) 100.00
Average Persistent Mem (KB) 32.43
Average Runtime Mem (KB) 31.59
--------------------------------------------------------------

Your update requires a full execution of the subquery for each row in the destination table (raw_alc_rmfscombinednew). Try rewriting as a MERGE. Tons faster.
MERGE INTO raw_alc_rmfscombinednew  D
USING ( SELECT distinct
BSC,
CELL_NAME
START_TIME
FROM raw_alc_R110Combinednew )  S
ON (    S.OMC_ID     = D.OMC_ID
AND S.CELL_CI    = D.CI
AND S.START_TIME = D.START_TIME )
WHEN MATCHED THEN
UPDATE
SET D.BSC        = S.BSC,
D.CELL_NAME  = S.CELL_NAME
