Report cannot be rendered (com/sun/java/util/collections/Iterator)

Hello all
I'm new both to Weblogic Server and BI Publisher.
A few days ago I thought that I managed to install BI Publisher on top of Weblogic. It turns out to be untrue because I am not able to view any report, being it a sample or a newly created one.
Platform: Windows 2003 32-bit
Weblogic version: 10.3.3.0
BI Publisher version: 10.1.3.4.1 (doesn't work both w/ and w/o the latest patchset 9791839)
And now to the problem. Whenever I try to view a report, I get an error message stating "The report cannot be rendered because of an error, please contact the administrator". Being both the user and the administrator, I am forced to press the "Error Detail" link, upon which the only thing that pops below is "com/sun/java/util/collections/Iterator" (in red).
The same non-verbose error message appears also when running in debug mode. Weblogic logs are empty from warnings, errors, etc.
As for the Weblogic Server, it claims that the xmlpserver application has been deployed and started successfully.
It seems to me that the BI Publisher application is trying to use java class that doesn't exist (com.sun.java.util.collections.Iterator). Of course I have no clue how to prove that because I do not have the source code for this app.
Oracle support is hardly able to understand the problem, so I thought maybe one of you could give me some answer.
Any Ideas?

By the way, I deployed the app under Oracle Report's cluster. Don't know whether it matters.

ResourceEntityResolver.java referencing com.sun.java.util.collection

Im trying to compile the WL5.1 ResourceEntityResolver.java class but it is
referencing com.sun.java.util.collection package. Where can I find this
package?

This can be an issue when using Tomcat and upgrading version of Mojarra.
Tomcat will store a file with the extension of .ser in the work directory. This file contains the names of the ServletContextListener instances
that need to be invoked when the application is next started. The problem is that if they use the values in that file and the listeners don't
exist, they don't rescan the application to rebuild the .ser, they just fail.
The way to fix this is to search for .ser files in your web container's work directory and the ones for the web application in question.

I receive this error when I try to run the demos that are in the /usr/java1.1/demo folder.
I followed the directions to install java3d. I installed the java3d binary in the top part of
the JDK directory then ran the binary. Everything installed o.k., but I cannot run
any of the demos. I also have J2SE 1.2.2_05a, JDK 1.1.8_10, and.
JRE 1.1.8_10 installed. My operating system is SunOS 5.6, Solaris 2.6. My workstation
is an Ultra 5 with 374mb ram.
Here is part of the install intructions.
Place the java3d1_2-solsparc.bin file into the top level directory
of the JDK you wish to install Java 3D into. Execute the
java3d1_2-solsparc.bin file (ex: sh java3d1_2-solsparc.bin).
After installation, you may remove this file.
The Java 3D(TM) SDK includes several demo programs that can
verify correct installation. Assuming your Java 2 SDK is installed
at ~/Solaris_JDK_1.2.2_05, try the following:
cd ~/Solaris_JDK_1.2.2_05/demo/java3d/HelloUniverse

I'm not sure how to set set/unset the CLASSPATH and I'm not sure if I was supposed to
place the binary file in the /usr/java1.1 or /usr/java or /usr/java1.2 directory.

-- If jar size isn't an issue, I recommend using thick "weblogic.jar" instead of the thin "wl*.jar" jars. The thick jar is a better performer, is used by more customers, and has more features. Otherwise:
          -- It might help to use the thin client jars from a later service pack - several service packs have been released since SP2, or you might even try using jars from a recent 9.2 SP or even 10.0.
          -- Also, check to see if the 1.4.2 JVM is up-to-date and/or try switching from the Sun JVM to the JRockit JVM (or vice-versa).
          -- Finally, it might help to check if your XP environment matches your Linux environment (JVM command-line, classpath, etc).
          -- Also: The IIOP newsgroup may also have some advice. The thin client uses the IIOP protocol even when a "t3:" URL is specified by the application.

I have spent many hours, fiddling with classpaths, ensuring that the mail.jar, mailapi.jar, smtp.jar, activation.jar are all from the same generation of JavaMail. With my classpath set correctly I can run a simple program constructed to just test whether the box can send out email from the command line.

As said before all .jar files are of the same generation, yet when I run FileNet and the underlying content engine, and try to send an email, I recieve this exception. I have run out of ideas, and any help would be appreciated.
Things I've tried (multiple times):
- Removing any old versions of the jar files and replace them with JavaMail 1.3.3_01
- Have the content engine specifically import the JavaMail jar files.
While I realize some of you may not know what FileNet is, perhaps you have come across this exception before. Any new ideas would be more then appreciated.

I haven't seen this error before so I need more detail to reproduce it.
It looks like you daisy chained calls to various static send() methods from various classes. Could you write a static main() for the class with the send() method actually doing the work? In the main() write the test case and compile it, test it and if it still doesnt work post it. Please include the import statements as it is germain to the solution.
Its much easier for me to help you if I don't have to recreate "FileNet" to reproduce your error.

Error "cannot access com.sun.java..."

edit i mistyped in the topic name, i mean to say "com.sun.j3d..."
I've set myself up using JCreator, installed j3d, j2sdk, and jdk. Tried a few test programs to make sure everything was working (a basic hello world and my chess game i created my junior year in highschool). It was all running fine.
So i started reading into j3d tutorials, and came across the HelloUniverse sample program. I slapped the code in and compiled it, only to be met with:
"cannot access com.sun.j3d.utils.applet.MainFrame".
I commented out the import line that included this, compiled, and it gave me another message complaining about the same thing, only this time ending in:
"...geometry.ColorCube"
Obviously, its just running down the line with all of the j3d imports, so i ran through and reinstalled all my j3d files; still didnt work. I can't figure out what's wrong with it. Please help.

May be, it is not getting the class it is pointing to, in your classpath. Have u put jaxrpc-ri.jar in your classpath, since this jar contains ur class?

You're using the "imaps" protocol, but you've set properties for the "imap" protocol. Change all the property names from mail.imap.* to mail.imaps.*.
Also, get rid of all the socket factory properties.
If you still can't connect, see these connection debugging tips.
Most likely you're using the wrong host name or port number. In almost all cases, it's better to just let JavaMail choose the correct port number.

They initially advised the work around is to remove the garbage in the file rather than removing the patch.

Preverification error: Cannot find class com/sun/perseus/model/Viewport

Hi all,
I have a (previously) working Midlet to which I have added one line as follows:
SVGImage image = (SVGImage)SVGImage.createEmptyImage(null);
- and imported the necessary from javax.microedition.m2g. (I am using the library that comes with the WTK, jsr226.jar).
This builds, jars, obfuscates fine. But when I try to preverify (using Antenna's wtkpreverify) on the jar, it gives up in disgust very swiftly as follows:

Problem resolved simply by replacing jsr226.jar (as distributed with WTK2.5.1ea) with m2g.jar (as distributed with J2MEPolish).

DOMNotSupportedException in com.sun.java.browser.dom.* classes

I'd like to enable an applet to modify the DOM in a browser window directly (ie. by using org.w3c.dom.* stuff). I'm using the latest 1.5.
I'm using a small class that I've pasted below to attempt to facilitate this. It evidently works in MSIE, where I receive the "Got document" message indicating a non-null value for 'page', but in Mozilla or Netscape, I get the following exception thrown:

Is this just simply only supported for MSIE? This seems highly unlikely.
I suspect it might have something to do with permissions in Mozilla, as these lines also appear in the log:
liveconnect: the url of the applet is http://word and the permission is = false
liveconnect: JavaScript: calling Java system code
liveconnect: JavaScript: default security policy = http://word
I haven't yet found anyone who could explain them. I'd like to try playing with permissions, buy I don't know how to do so. Any suggestions?

A couple of things I've found with DOMService and/or LiveConnect and the more recent java and browser releases :
1) You probably need to edit your java.policy file to grant permissions since the security in Java is now managed independently from the browser
2) You need to remember to have mayscript="true" in your applet tag
3) JSObject's dont work unless you've called JSObject.getWindow(...) first.
4) Many legitimate java exceptions will appear misleadingly as security exceptions

Message: Cannot begin session. com/sun/jndi/ldap/ctl/PagedResultsControl

When I try to request a simple reuest (getversion) from the drm wsdl I receive an error in the XML repsonse (see below).
I read somewhere in the forum that I have to change the external direcortory provider in HSS from "MSAD" to LDAP/OID. But this can not be configured in HSS since I can not change the ID attribute (its greyed out).
Does anyone knows how I can sole it: I think its related to: "message: Cannot begin session. com/sun/jndi/ldap/ctl/PagedResultsControl"
Perhaps wrong or missing jar files in the connection configuration?
Any help is welcome.

Its exactly how you explain it.
Last thing I am dealing with (as var as I can see now) is getting a (generic/other) ldap connection in HSS to our MSAD.
HSS userinterface comes up with an error just before showing the user list. (on the serverside I traced traffic (wireshark) and see that userinformation is indeed retrieved).
But the frontend is juist not showing/ loading the information.
the error"a communication error occured when loading the view pane" Than the screen keeps on loading for ever
Oracle support tries to find out whats going wrong here.

yes, the documentation.
well, of couse i have downloaded java3d. but i cant find the documentation in there. java3d has two subfolders "demo" and "jre". in "jre" are the two subfolders "bin" and "lib". and the documentation nowhere to be found.
