Report column breaking - display text centred in cell

Hi,
I am looking for some help achieving the following:
I have a report which has column breaks on the first three columns. Currently, when the report is displayed, the first column value is displayed in the top row with the rows underneath blank and so on for columns 2 and 3. Then the data for the other columns is displayed as normal.
What I want to do is have the column values that are used in the break spanning the rows they break over so the text is displayed centred (vertically)
ie:
Col1     Col2     Col3           Col4     Col5
                                dat1     dat2
                                dat2     dat3
val1     val2     val3          dat4     dat5
                                dat6     dat7
                                dat8     dat9
val2    xx        xxx         xx        xx
________________________________________________ (Hope this works in ascii!!!) - Col1,2,3 etc are the columns - ignore the vals and dats - they're just data placeholders.
All help much appreciated! :)

  • If Number = than then display text from another cell

    Hi
I'd appreciate it if anyone can help me with this please.
I am putting together a gradebook type spreadsheet. I would like to display the text from another cell if the number entered in another cell is greater than or less than a certain number.
So - if the number in cell A is equal to or greater than 70 then the text displayed in cell B equals the text contained in cell C
    Hope this makes sense.
    Many thanks in advance.
    regards,

    Hello Lee,
The Numbers User Guide PDF available from the Numbers Help menu as a download is good reading for beginners. As a reference document, the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide is also valuable.
The function you need is called "IF", and the syntax is: IF "logic-expression" is true, then do this, else do this. As a calculation in a cell, that would have the form: =IF("Cell A" is equal to or greater than 70, then display the content of cell C, else display "something else") You need to provide the "something else", which can be a null string, "", if you wish.
As you will find when you read the guide, the cells all have row and column address components where the column is identified by a letter of the alphabet and the row by a number. So If your data is in A1, your text string in B1 and your expression is in C1, you would write in C1:
    =IF(A1>=70, B1, "")
    Does this help?

  • In SSRS , after exporting report in excel, wrap text property for cell and freeze column for SSRS table header not working in Excel

I am working no one SSRS my table headers are freeze cangrow property is false and my report is working perfect while rendering data on RDL and i want same report after exporting in Excel also , i want my table header to be freeze and wrap text property
to work after exporting in my report in excel but its not working ,is there any solution ? any patch ? any other XML code for different rendering ?

    Hi Amol,
According to your description, you find the wrap text property and fix column is not working after exporting into Excel. Right?
In Reporting Services, when exporting to excel file, it has limitation for textbox.
Text boxes are rendered within one Excel cell. Font size, font face, decoration, and font style are the only formatting that is supported on individual text within an Excel cell.
Excel adds a default padding of approximately 3.75 points to the left and right sides of cells. If a text box’s padding settings are less than 3.75 points and is just barely wide enough to accommodate the text, the text may wrap in Excel.
In this scenario, it supposed to be wrap text unless you merge cells. If cells are merged, word-wrap does not work correctly. If any merged cells exist on a row where a text box is rendered with the
AutoSize property, autosize will not work. For the Fix Data Property, it can't be working in Excel. These are features when exporting to Excel. We can't change it because it's by design.

  • Report Column Conditional Display

    Hi,
After reading a load of other posts, it seems like there is no way to have a column display conditionaly based on the other column values.
What I am trying to acheive is when an "Already Authorised" column is set to N, a link column displays with an "Authorise" button.
What I did previously was always show the button and just not process anything (conditional on the process)
I think I can acheive what I want by building up a link in my report query
    SELECT CASE
             WHEN chk_tab.completed_flag = 'N' THEN '<a href="&MYAPPID. other url stuff"> Authorise  </a>'
             ELSE ''
END edit_link,What I don't know how to do is either build up the href string? Or is this necessary, can I somehow just submit the page with a request from it?
    Thanks
    Richard

By accident, I managed to find a perfect solution for this...
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:24:104884642096669
Denes has written a nice function to generate a URL for a report.
    So I now use
    SELECT CASE
             WHEN chk_tab.completed_flag = 'N' THEN return_link_fn(54,'P54_MYITEM',chk_tab.column_value)
             ELSE ''
           END edit_link
    from chk_tabWorks a charm!! :)

  • Clasical Report column headings display

    Hi ABAPERS
iam working on clasical report. in that i have to display 16 field headings.
when executing the report, the column headers should be frozen at the top so that when the user is scrolling down, they can see what the column title is.
how can i over come this problem.

    Hi,
you mean the column headings should be displayed even though
the user scrolls down the output.
For classical reports, according to me it is not possible.
We will be using the write statement to display the records,
so it is static for the report.
If you want the output what you are expecting then go for ALV's.

    1. In page header i was written the below code
    <link rel="stylesheet" href = "http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/themes/

    <div id="ModalForm1" title="Ordered Items" style="display:none">
    <p class="msg"></p>

    5. in order report column attributes i was given link like below.
    javascript:$s('p_order_id','#order_id#');openForm1();
when i click on the order report column link it passing the row primary key value to hiddent and open the report as modal form. however it is not filter the report with hidden item. it showing the no data found.
problem is hidden item value is not submitting. once we submit that value it showing the 2nd report with filter data.
can any help me to achieve above requirement.
    apex: 4.2
    oracle 11g
    Regards,
    Vijay.

    Vijay,
Issue 1: Your usage of $s() JavaScript API seems to be wrong. For the first parameter, you need to use the name of the hidden page item and not p_order_id.
    javascript:$s('P1_ORDER_ID','#ORDER_ID#');openForm1();
Issue 2: Seems like you are not setting the hidden page item's value in session state. Assuming your hidden page item is called P1_ORDER_ID, Under "Region Definition" tab of your "Order Detail Report" under "Source" tab, for page items to submit, enter the name of the hidden page item P1_ORDER_ID.
    Thanks!

  • Script to find report columns with XXS vulnerabilities

    Hi,
Report columns with display as "Standard Report Column" are vulnerable to Cross Site Scripting attacks. I have written a simple script to find these report columns and described an easy way to change them all at once. Check: http://wiki.shellprompt.net/bin/view/Apex/XssExamples

    Hi Pete,
good that you bring up that security issue!
I was talking to Joel during ODTUG about the "Standard Report Column" default the wizard uses and he said that this might be changed in the next version to use the more secure "Display as Text (escape special characters, does not save state)"

  • Compute average of a report column

    Hi,
I got stuck with a problem. My problem is to compute average of a report column and display it on the bottom of the report. I searched the solution on apex forum but not get any solution.
So, Please help me. It's urgent for me.
    Thanks
    -PK

I've thought of the following solution. It's not the prettiest but I think it achieves what you're after or at least might come close.
Edit the report region source to something along these lines:
select salesperson as salesperson, total as total, 1 as sort_val from sales_figures
    union
select 'Average' as salesperson, avg(total) as total, 2 as sort_val from sales_figures
So the above query returns the sales person and their sales total unioned with a query returning the text 'Average' with the average sales totals. The sort_val value has been added to be able to sort by this value to ensure the 'Average' figure appears last by editing the report attributes to show salesperson & total, not show sort_val but sort by sort_val first.
You won't be able to have sort on the report columns though as this would move the 'Average' figure from the bottom of the report where it's expected to be displayed.
Does the average need to be part of the report?
Could you calculate the average and display it within a page item below the report instead?

  • Can "Standard Report Column" be the Default Instead of "Display as Text"

Almost every report region I write has some html in at least one column, whether it's a break or an apex_item or something else. Hence, when the region renders with the default settings, the column shows the html code - I have to change the column display type from "Display as Text" to "Standard Report Column".
Is there some setting to make "Standard Report Column" the default? (Isn't that kind of what the word Standard implies?)
    Thanks,

The default was changed in APEX 4.0 to "Display as Text" (which escapes HTML-sensitive characters) as a security measure to limit vulnerability to XSS attack. This is necessary for the protection of users and (so-called) developers who are not security conscious/HTML savvy.
There's no option to change this, and I doubt that one will be provided in the future. The indications are that the Oracle APEX team are committed to blocking as many security holes as possible by default, leaving it to the developer to consciously make any modifications that increase the surface exposed to attack.

  • Displaying different colors for cells/columns in Interactive Report

    Hi,
I have a requirement to display just the 'cells' in the Interactive Report columns with different colors.
There are 3 columns in the Interactive report.
The color coding for all the 3 different columns should be such that:
    <40% - red color
    40-70-orange
    greater than 70%-green
I tried the highlight option in the report and saved the report as default, but still the color condition ended up getting displayed to the end user. I dont want this.
Can someone suggest a better way to handle this requirement?

  • Report "Display Text (Based on LOV)" columns don't like colons - Bug?

This is a bit hard to explain in text, so I've built a sample app: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=9608:1
The app has two pages, which demonstrate two related bugs in the handling of Report "Display as Text (based on LOV)" columns.
Basically, if the LOV query returns a string that contains colon characters (":") in the display column, the values are matched up correctly, but the colons are stripped from the display.
If the LOV query returns a string that contains colon characters in the return value column, then the matching fails entirely.
Removing the colon characters eliminates the problem.
We actually ran into this in a production environment, after an upgrade from Apex 3.0.0 to 3.2.1. The behavior definitely did not occur in Apex 3.0, but was added at some point between the two versions.

The colon is actually part of our data (the field in question is a URN namespace).
And yes, I understand the function of the colon in Apex URL parameter passing. However, I wouldn't expect that sort of parsing to be used against the results returned from an LOV query.
Also, the LOV is fine in of itself -- a select list based on the LOV displays & returns the expected values. It's only when I use a report column based on an LOV that this behavior creeps in.
We've found a (fairly painful) workaround -- altering both the report query and the LOV query to to do something like replace(column, ':', '_') -- but that's a manual change to a large number of pages for us.
This behavior is new to version 3.2.1. It didn't happen in version 3.0.

  • Matrix report - row field text extends into cell field's display space

The horizontal elasticity of the row field in the matrix is set to VARIABLE. This row field's horizontal elasticity needs to be VARIABLE (not FIXED).
However, this causes problems because if the row field's text length is long, the matrix does not change accordingly, i.e. the cell field does not move to the right to make room for the row field. So the row field extends into the display space of the cell field, and the text of the row and cell field overlap, and so the text is almost impossible to read (as well as ugly).
I have tried to put a frame around the row and cell field so that they are together and move accordingly, but this hasn't helped. I have also tried anchors but they cause the fields to appear NULL when they are not.
    Any help is appreciated.
    -nelson
    [email protected]

I think you'll need to revert to a fixed sized field and increase the height of the field to cope with the number of rows that you could have.
You might be able to create a repeating frame above the matrix that tracks the matrix and pushes the whole matrix down as it expands, but I don't see how you could do this within the matrix structure itself.

  • Please Help - SQL Report long column value required in a separate cell

    Hi.
I need to create a SQL report with the structure like below:
Country State City Vertical Business Details (detail desc)
    US MA Quincy Healthcare
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
    US MA Braintree IT
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
I came through a solution where you can hide/display the long column value in a different cell. But my requirement is that it should be displayed when the page opens and user don;t want to click on a button to see the value. This is mainly for their presentations and printing. so its very annoying for them to click on so many buttons to see the detail desc value for every record. I am new to Java script, Please help

I'm not sure I understand your requirements--are you showing us 2 lines of data, 7 lines, or 9? Do you want the long detail description on the same row, or underneath it?
I'm going to go on the assumption that you're showing us two rows, and that the long descriptions in this example happen to be 3-4 lines long, and that you want the long descriptions underneath the details. In which case, I suggest using "named column" templates. They're a lot easier to use than they appear when you first look at them, so bear with me.
Under "Shared Components", select "Templates", and then click on the yellow Create> button. You're creating a report template, from scratch. On the final page of the wizard, select "Named Column (row template)" for the template type. This will create a rather generic (and useless) template, which you'll have to edit; I don't know why they chose to not send you straight into the editor. When you edit it, you'll see that the only field with a value in it is "Row Template 1", and it's set to:
<tr><td>#1#</td><td>#2#</td><td>#3#</td><td>#4#</td><td>#5#</td></tr>For meeting your requirements with basic functionality, change it to something along the lines of:
    <tr><td>#COUNTRY#</td><td>#STATE#</td><td>#CITY#</td><td>#VERT#</td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="4">#DETAILS#</td></tr>Then you'll probably want to put something under Column Heading Template, like:
    <tr><td>Country</td><td>State</td><td>City</td><td>Vertical Business</td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="4">Details</td></tr>Apply whatever CSS styles you want to it, of course.
Using the template is straightforward: if your report, chose the template, and make sure your SQL returns values using the column names you specified in your template. Otherwise, you'll see literal "#COUNTRY#" text in your report.
You can get fancy with these, of course, such as applying different styles to alternating rows, but I'll leave this as good enough to get you started (I hope).

  • Interactive report column filters to display differently than column values

    Greetings...
We use images a lot in our interactive reports to provide a visual representation to a status, or something locked for update, or what-have-you. By default, when a user clicks the column heading of a column which contains images, the drop-down list that shows up displays the actual images, which is nice for the user to identify exactly which thing they want to filter on. The problem is when the user selects on of the options in the filtering drop-down, the resulting condition that is displayed under the interactive report search bar is the HTML code of the image. I'd like something else to display there because showing the user the HTML code is atrocious.
I didn't think what I want is possible, but then I came across the Page Locks page within ApEx (page 4000:291 in ApEx 4.0.1) which displays a list of all the pages of an application and whether they are locked or not. It also allows you to bulk lock or bulk unlock a bunch of pages. That page uses an interactive report with a column called "Status" which contains images that represent whether the page is locked or not. When you click the "Status" column heading to filter, instead of seeing the images of an open and closed lock, you see the words "Page Locked" and "Page Unlocked." And even better... when you select on of them, the condition that is displayed to the user is very user-friendly.
Can someone tell me how this is done so I can replicate it in my own apps?
    Shane.

Why not create the IR using the text you require e.g. 'Lock', 'Unlock' and then use JQuery to replace the text in the report with the image you want. All the filters should then show the plain text and the report will display the image. e.g.
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=46801:1
    Here's what I did:
Firstly make sure the IR has a region template.
Then create a Dynamic Action with the following attributes:
    1. Advanced
    2. Event: After Refresh
    3. Selection Type: Region
    4. Region: [select the IR Region]
    5. Action: Execute JS Code
    6. Fire on page load: [checked]
    7. Code:
    $('td [headers="TEST"]').each(function(index) {
      if ($(this).text() == 'Lock') {
        $(this).empty().html('<img src="/i/htmldb/icons/locked_small.gif" alt="Lock" />');
      else {
        $(this).empty().html('<img src="/i/htmldb/icons/unlocked_small.gif" alt="Unlock" />');
});Where TEST is the column name.
That's it, this may also be of interest:
