Report - Row Count

Is there an item (global, application, page, etc) that I can reference which would tell me the number of rows a report returned?
I have a report which can display 0 - X rows.
Under this region, I have a button which I'd like to disable if the rows returned are zero.
I know I could put the link on each record of the report, but that doesn't fit my requirement. The only other thing I could think of is run the query again somewhere to count the number of rows which sounds redundantly redundant. :)
Thanks,
Chad

You could also put the number of rows in the header of your report by doing the following:
1. Put this code in the header of the report region:
<span style="color:darkblue;font-weight:bold" id="rowsShow"></span>2. Put this code in the footer of the report region:
<input id="rowsGet" type="hidden" value="Found #TOTAL_ROWS# records." />
<script>
document.getElementById("rowsShow").innerHTML =
document.getElementById("rowsGet").value;
</script> An example here:

  • Next/Prev in Report row counter

    How do you have the Next/Prev selectors appear with the row counter section at the bottom of reports.
    I created an SQL report, and although I selected use report pagination, the Next/Prev selectors are missing at the bottom of the report with the row counter.
    If I manually create an Next/Prev process, this build buttons outside the report row counter in the report region. Since all my other reports have the selectors inside the report with the counters, it looks goofy to sudddenly have Next/Prev buttons outside the report.
    Thanks

    Kevin,
    Edit the report's attributes and verify that pagination is indeed turned on. Also, are you using HTML DB 1.6?

  • Conditional display based on row count

    I have a report region with sql query (PL/SQL function body returning sql query). In this region i have text item above the report. I would like to have a condition on this item that it should only show if there exists records in the report (row count > 0).
    How can this be done?
    Best regards

    There are many options available for conditional display. You can use this one here:

  • Dynamically set maximum row count in Interactive Report

    Hi,
    Has anyone worked out a way of dynamically setting (e.g. via select list) the maximum row count value for an Interactive Report, taking into account issues with order by when the report is filtered. I'm aware of solutions like this: http://www.talkapex.com/2010/10/apex-reports-no-limit-downloads.html but as far as I can tell this doesn't work when the report is filtered and the IR is rewritten in the background. Data sets then become unreliable because they are reordered.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    You can do that with javascript
    gReport.search('SEARCH',100)the 100 you can replace for any number you like.I have a report with filter,sorting and groups and it is gives no problem there.
    any number means any number but not higher than the number you set at Maximum Rows Per Page.
    You probably can mix the solution from Martin and the above code.

  • APEX 3.1 Report pagination style limited by max row count

    I am working on an application using APEX 3.1 and am having trouble keeping the report pagination style as a select list when the max row count for the report is greater than 8000. If I use the select list as the pagination method, the first time that the first page is viewed is fine however all subsequent pages begin to use the "next" and "previous" link method of pagination. This is only occurring when the max row count is higher than 8000 and a select list is used for pagination.
    My question is: is the style of pagination, in Oracle APEX (3.1), limited by the potential number of rows returned for the report? If not, is this a bug with my version of Oracle APEX?

    The source of my problem was that the report referenced a page item for the number of rows. That select list referenced a named List of Values (LOV) that limited the number of rows that the report could display. I removed that reference and my problem disappeared!

  • Dynamically Add Report Parameters & Get Row Count

    In out Portal reports, we are inserting records into our own logging tables at the beginning of the report and updating the record at the end of the report. Currently, the sequential key has been added as a parameter so that we can access it through-out the report execution. Therefore, it displays on the parameter screen. We don't want the users to see this item. Is it possible to add it to the parameter list without having it display on the screen? Can this be done using a procedure in wwv_standard_util? Any other suggestions?
    Also, we need to get the total row count of the query. Where can we get this value?

  • 3.0.9.8.5 - Total Row Count in reports

    "Total Row Count" seems to be broken after applying patch 3.0.9.8.5.
    After applying the patch, we viewed an existing report which returned (let's say) 25 rows (and I've got max rows per page set to 5):
    The first page correctly says: "Total Row Count in Report- 25" and "Row(s) 1 - 5 "
    But then clicking the 'next' button, the following page incorrectly says: "Total Row Count in Report- 10" and "Row(s) 6 - 10 "
    So, the total row count is getting screwed up. Clicking "previous" in the example above, the total row count goes down to '5'.
    Another 3.0.9.8.5 patch problem appears to be 5 extra <br>'s within the report customize page top level of buttons and the criteria form. Looks ugly.

    Thanks for the reply.
    Is there nothing I can do to fix this problem before the next 3.0.9 patch comes out? We've have perhaps another few months to go before we make the move to portal release 2.
    This one issue with patch 3.0.9.8.5 is mostly definitely a show-stopper for us...we cannot live with customers seeing errors as basic as "total rows" returned in queries....we will have to roll back to our previous patch level 3.0.9.8.3. By doing this, we will continue to get bad customer feedback because of the awful performance introduced by that patch (Internet Explorer HTTP 1.0 vs 1.1 / keepalives / SSL issue). That's not to mention that we won't see the benefits of the content-area export/import bug fixes in this latest pathset.
    So, if there is ANYTHING we can do to fix this one problem, we (and our customers) would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

  • Report.Services 2008 - get page-count or row-count in the c#-code

    hello
    is it possible to get from the ReportViewer-control / ServerReport the page-count or row-count after the
    reportViewerCheck.ServerReport.Refresh();
    statement ??
    many thanks in advance for any clue & regards
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    Yes, you can get them. For row count, you can add a parameter to store the row count of your dataset in your report.
    Here are the steps:
    1.     Add 2 datasets in your report, one for report use and the other on is to row count use. For instance:
    DataSet1: SELECT     HumanResources.vEmployee.* FROM         HumanResources.vEmployee
    DataSet2: SELECT     COUNT(*) FROM         HumanResources.vEmployee
    2.     Add a parameter, set the parameter’s default value set to Get Values from a query and select DataSet2.
    Then, in your ASP.NET web application code you can use the following function to get the row count of the report:
    private int GetReportRowCount(ReportViewer report)
                return Convert.ToInt32(report.ServerReport.GetParameters()[0].Values[0].ToString());
    For page count, you can refer to the following code:
    private int GetReportPageCount(ReportViewer report)
                return report.ServerReport.GetTotalPages();
    You may not get the correct row count and page count in after executing Refresh () method, that’s because when you run this method, it will start another thread to refresh the report and the code below Refresh () method will not wait refreshing complete but run it. For instance, you may get the page count as o if you run the following code in the Button event:
    // Click this Button to refresh the ReportViewer1
            protected void btnGetPageCount_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
                // Refresh the ReportViewer1
                this.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.Refresh();
                // Get ReportViewer1's page count and display in the txtPageCount TextBox
                this.txtPageCount.Text = this.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.GetTotalPages().ToString();
    You can run the refresh in separate events and get page count in another event, such as below code:
            // Click this Button to refresh the ReportViewer1
            protected void btnGetPageCount_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
                // Refresh the ReportViewer1
                this.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.Refresh();
            // Display the txtPageCount's text to ReportViewer's page count
            protected void btnGetPageCount2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
                // Get ReportViewer1's page count and display in the txtPageCount TextBox
                this.txtPageCount.Text = this.ReportViewer1.ServerReport.GetTotalPages().ToString();
    Hope this helps! I would suggest you post a new thread in Visual Studio Report Controls forum if you need more help about using ReportViewer in ASP.NET web application.

  • Interactive report max row count

    Is there a way to set IR max row count dynamically?
    To improve performance, I would like to set this value to 200 when users run the report and set this value to 50000 when users download the report.

    A dirty solution to this could be , create IR report with rowum < 201 and then add a link to the region header for downloading report. Point this link to another page with the same sql query (classic report) and select the template as CSV.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Interactive report unique row count

    Hi,
    I just want to know if there is a way to do a row count with a unique on an interactive report column.
    What I mean is that I have a report that looks like that
    Project Project type Hours
    Project 1 Project type 1 1
    Project 2 Project type 2 1
    Project 1 Project type 1 1
    Project 3 Project type 3 1
    Project 2 Project type 2 1
    I would like to do a unique on the project name. So, at the end, I would like to have a count that says that I have 3 different projects.
    Is there anyway to do that ?
    Thanks,
    Chantale

    Hi Chantale - did you manage to solve this one?
    Example here (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11189:1) showing 14 rows, but only 7 distinct rows. These duplicates are valid, and the SQL cannot be changed. Is there a way through the IR to show a count of 7 (the distinct rows)?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi ,

    while updating row count in Admin tool i am getting the following error
    [NQODBC][SQL_STATE:HY000][nQSError:10058] A general error has occured.
    [nQSError: 43113]Message returned from OBIS.
    [nQSError:43093]An error occured while processing the EXECUTE PHYSICAL statement.
    [nQSError:17003]Oracle gateway error: OCIEnvNIsCreate or OCIEnvInit failed to initialize environment.Please check your Oracle Client installation and make sure the correct version of OCI libraries are in the library path.
    i am able to check the database from sqlplus it is working fine.
    Any suggestion highly appreciated plzzz

    Make sure your connection pool is valid and able to import or execute reports.
    If everything good as above said, in Physical layer database properties-> general tab choose the database version and try it once.
    If not
    Check the doc id 1271486.1
    Or
    To resolve the issue create a softlink (ln -s) in the <OracleBI>/server/Bin folder to link to the 32-bit Oracle Client Driver file.
    The example below shows how to perform a softlink from the 64 bit directory:
    cd /u10/app/orcladmin/oracle/OracleBI/server/Bin
    ln -s $ORACLE_HOME/lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1 libclntsh.so.10.1

  • Create a group based on row count

    I am looking for a way of reducing the size of tables I am displaying in my monthly report, by counting some rows together, and naming them 'other'
    I would like to always show all rows, where count of item is >= 50, but all rows where count of item < 50, total up and call 'other'.  I will add an example image as soon as my account has been verified
    I can hide rows using this in the visibility =iif(Count(Fields!Item.Value) >= 50, False, True)
    I have duplicated the line, and added a filter to each (one for greater than 50, one for less than 50) but my totals are still counting all the data, and not just the filtered data.
    Ideally, I would like to add a column using something like =iif(Count(Fields!Item.Value) >= 50, "Over50", "Under50"), or a group based on the same sort of idea, but I keep getting errors about using aggregates in columns.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers

    What you can do is to add derived column in query behind like this
    SELECT other columns...,
    CASE WHEN Cnt >= 50 THEN YourGroupingField ELSE 'Other' END AS GrpName
    FROM
    SELECT *,COUNT(1) OVER (PARTITION BY YourGroupingField) AS Cnt
    FROM Table
    )t
    Then in your reports use =Fields!GrpName.Value as the Grouping column and you will get required output

    Use code tags when you post code.
    I wrote and tested in MS Access following query and all it is working well. You mean it works in MS Access. Not that it works in java.
    >
    pstm = DBConnect.prepareStatement(
    "SELECT Parameter.Name, Parameter.id FROM " +
    "(ParameterGroupMember INNER JOIN ApplicationReadsParameter ON " +I STRONGLY suggest that rather than putting spaces at the end of each part put it at the beginning. It makes it much easier to get it right.
    I also suggest formatting the code. There are various ways.
            // Wrong
            String sql = "select x, y z "
                             + "from table1 t1, idtable idt"
                             + "where t1.tim=idt.tim "
                             +  "and t1.book = idt.book";
            // Right (spaces) - one way to format
            String sql = "select"
                             + "         x, y z"
                             + " from table1 t1, idtable idt"
                             + " where"
                             + "          t1.tim=idt.tim"
                             + "          and t1.book = idt.book";Your code is in fact missing a space. No idea if that is a problem or not.
    Remove the semicolon from the end.
    PRINT the sql before you use it, copy/paste and use that string in MS Access (replace the ?) to see if it work.
    Further I found that the problem is with the setting of the second parameter in the statement. Is there different way how to set the second parameter if union is used?The MS Access ODBC driver isn't really great for actually reporting errors correctly. So usually any error means something is wrong and it is up to you to figure out the exact problem.
