Hi,
My Sites, feeds, Community Sites, and Community Portals are
new features and functionality for social computing.
Community Sites offer a forum experience to categorize discussions around subject areas, and connect users who have knowledge or seek knowledge about subject areas.
And moderator feature is available for SharePoint community rather than NewsFeed. Moderators have higher level privileges than community members, which enable them to view all discussions and replies. Community moderators ensure that members
enjoy the rewards of community membership, such as finding and keeping in touch with key individuals and staying current on trends and hot topics, while removing content that is inappropriate or detracts from the overall purpose of the community.
Thanks.
We
are trying to better understand customer views on social support experience, so your participation in this
interview project would be greatly appreciated if you have time.
Thanks for helping make community forums a great place.

MySite NewsFeed is not showing the feeds from a SharePoint 2013 site which followed programmatically
Hi Experts,
I am facing an issue with following SharePoint 2013 site programmatically. When i was followed a site programmatically, unable to see the posts from followed site in MySite NewsFeed. But i can able to see the followed site in the list of sites i am following.
If i did the same manually by clicking on Follow link on right top of the site, i can able to see the posts from the followed site in MySite NewsFeed.
Here is my code. I am doing this activity in an event receiver, while adding an user to the site.
SPSocialFollowingManager manager = new SPSocialFollowingManager(profile);
SPSocialActorInfo actorInfo = new SPSocialActorInfo();
actorInfo.ContentUri = new Uri(properties.Web.Url);
actorInfo.AccountName = targetUser.LoginName;
actorInfo.ActorType = SPSocialActorType.Site;
manager.Follow(actorInfo);
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
dineshHi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to follow site programmatically in SharePoint 2013.
I suggest you debug the code step by step to check whether the variable is valid.
You can also create a simple console application to test whether it works.
Here is a code snippet for your reference:
SPServiceContext serverContext = SPServiceContext.GetContext(web.Site);
UserProfileManager profileManager = new UserProfileManager(serverContext);
string userString = user.LoginName.ToString();
UserProfile userProfile = profileManager.GetUserProfile(userString);
if (userProfile != null)
SPSocialFollowingManager manager = new
SPSocialFollowingManager(userProfile);
SPSocialActorInfo actorInfo = new SPSocialActorInfo();
actorInfo.ContentUri = new Uri(web.Url);
actorInfo.AccountName = user.LoginName;
actorInfo.ActorType = SPSocialActorType.Site;
manager.Follow(actorInfo);

Reporting Services 2012 in SharePoint 2010 - SQL database edition?
We currently have a SharePoint 2010 farm, running on a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard database. On one of the SharePoint 2010 servers, we have an instance of Reporting Services 2008 Enterprise running in SharePoint integrated mode. (We require Enterprise
for data-driven subscriptions)
We'd like to upgrade to Reporting Services 2012 for Data Alerts and a few other new features. However, I noticed something on
this blog stating that the SharePoint 2010 database server edition needs to match the Reporting Services edition. My concern is that I've not seen any official mention of this in Microsoft's documentation, and would like to avoid upgrading to Enterprise
for the SharePoint 2010 database if I can avoid it.
So, what I'd like to run is:
SharePoint 2010
SharePoint database: SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard
Reporting Services 2012 Enterprise
Reporting Services database: same as SharePoint database, so SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard
Is this possible? Or do I need to upgrade the SharePoint database to SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise?
Alternatively, could I install a separate database engine just for Reporting Services to host its databases (for example, SQL Server 2012 Enterprise), so I don't have to mess around with upgrading the SP database?While you don't need to upgrade your SQL 2008 R2 to 2012, you will need to install an instance of SQL 2012 & SSRS 2012. They can be side-by-side and independent of each other. The following blog post provides steps to do so,

Hi I'm trying to setup SQL reporting services in a SharePoint 2013 farm consisting of:
4 WFE's
4 App Servers (NLB Central Admin x 4 servers)
4 App Severs for SSRS (Light limited SharePoint services running)
I've installed SSRS 2012 SP1 by following the guide (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492276.aspx) on one of the SSRS SharePoint 2013 servers and ensuring Reporting Services - SharePoint and Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products is selected.
All completed without errors and I have even upgraded to SP2 for troubleshooting but no joy.
I've then gone into SharePoint Central Admin and I cannot see SQL Reporting Service available In the list of runnning services on the server I have just installed SSRS on and going to manage service applications I cannot see in the new dropdown menu SQL
Reporting Services.
I have ran the following commands in the SHarePoint management shell:
Install-SPRSService and Install-SPRSSeviceProxy
and
get-spserviceinstance -all |where {$_.TypeName -like "SQL Server Reporting*"} | Start-SPServiceInstance
The reply was that the service was already online on the server.
So in powershell all seems ok but it does not appear in central administration.
I have also moved Central Administration to the SSRS SharePoint server too.
Any other suggestions? Here is the same problem but in SP2010 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6a21cc05-1f9b-49ad-a9bb-44aa5b3ce312/action?threadDisplayName=after-installing-sql-reporting-services-service-for-sharepoint-2012-service-is-not-in-the-list-of)
In my lab environment of a 4 server SP2013 farm it worked immediately when i installed it on the app server (CA host) so I dont think it is my install strategy.
I guess my next attempt is to install SSRS on an app server with central administration hosted.
ThanksI had the same issue on 2 different environments.
I had 2 application servers. One had Central Administration. I installed SSRS on the other one and it never appeared in the Service Applications in SharePoint.
When I also provisioned Central Administration on the other application server and went to the service applications using Central Admin on that server, the SSRS service application was there.
Since then I always install SSRS on the server which hosts Central Admin. No issues then. -
Error: SSRS report excel export in Sharepoint
Hi:
I getting below in export SSRS report in excel in Sharepoint. Please anyone can help
Paramesh GHi Paramesh,
Based on my understanding, you comes across an error when you export the report from SharePoint.
In your scenario, you should check ULS logs with the Correlation ID to see if anything unexpected occurred. If possible, you can provide the log for our analysis. About how to check the ULS logs, please refer to the articles below:

Activate Reporting Services on My Sharepoint SQL SERVER Databse ?
Hi,
I have small sharepoint farm (1 FW and 1 SQL).
I can't find if it's recommended or not to activate and use Reporting Services on the SHAREPOINT SQL SERVER Instance ?
I wouldn't want to decrease my global farm performance.
Thank you for helping.
RegardsSSRS integrated must run on a server that has SharePoint installed and joined to the farm. That will have a significant impact on the SQL Database Engine server from a memory contention and CPU utilization perspective.

Generate reports from lists in SharePoint 2013 (Office 365)
Hello everyone,
We are in the need to generate reports from lists in SharePoint 2013. The reports would do data mingling between lists (like a relational database) and generate the reports in HTML and maybe a link to pdf on the SharePoint site.
We are currently generating reports in Access. This is an issue for two reasons:
Reports cannot be generated on the fly. Whenever we want reports in pdf form, we have to go into Access and run our reports macro written in VBA. It essentially generates the reports as pdf into our synced SkyDrive, which syncs it to our SharePoint site
Report generation cannot be done by the client. This is due to the same concept as (1). We need to generate reports in Access.
Is there any way to do this in SharePoint 2013? Are there any apps that do this?
Any guidance or help would be appreciated.
FYI: Our SharePoint server is hosted on the Office 365 network. It is not a local system.
ThanksOne option is to run the info into a Word Template and then run Word Automation Services to convert to PDF, but I think you're still going to run into some similar issues.

One of the OUs won't appear in Sharepoint MySite
Hi guys,
I recently created corporate employee directory in SharePoint Foundation 2010
I have several OU's in my AD. One of the OU's won't appear in SharePoint MySite but all other OU's will and I can't figure out why.
Where should I start looking?
Thanks!1. SharePoint Foundation doesn't include MySite. Please clarify.
2. MySites aren't created for OUs. Or for groups. Or for contacts. Only users.

Crystal Report Viewer integration with Sharepoint 2010
We had a requirement in our project to view crystal report off an hyper link embedded into sharepoint web part developed using ASP .NET. The report accepted few parameters from the sharepoint page and passed those on to the SQL server to retrive data and
display the data in the report. The challenge was to open the report in the web browser.
The first difficulty was to find the right control to use, the report viewer tool that comes with Visual Studio 2010 is not the right one to use to view Crystal reports, I realised this after spending half a day trying to figure out why wouldn't the report
load. I then downloaded the Crystal Report Viewer for VS 2010 Standard from http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp. After you install this, you get the crystal report viewer in your toolbar. All you have to do is drag and drop it on
to the web part and configure it to use your report. If any one needs help with this let me know I will show how to do that.
So far so good. The biggest challenge was to deploy this on to the production server which took better part of 3 days to figure out how its done. If you deploy the WSP file as it is expecting that the crystal DLLs would be embedded in it then be ready to
expect a rude shock because it isn't. Here are the steps -
1. Deploy the WSP to the sharepoint server
2. Install the crystal dlls used in the project (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll, CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll, CrystalDecisions.Web.dll) into the GAC using GacUtil command
3. Add following entries to Web.Config file (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80\web.congif)
<SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False"
/>
<SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
<SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Shared" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
<SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Web" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
4. Install crystal redistributable package which can be downloaded from http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp (
SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4 (64-bit))
5. Copy aspnet_client folder from C:\>inetpub\wwwroot and overwrite it on C:\>inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80
And we are done. Fingers crossed it should all work.

SharePoint MySite and MainSite - Navigation connection
Hi,
So we've followed the best practice on creating a separate web application for MySite...the user profiles.
How do i get the navigation pages to reference the Main site?
Ex: if I'm looking at my profile the navigation (newsfeed, OneDrive, Sites) all reference the MySite...I want it to Navigate to the Main site and show the Navigation pane on the left of the main site on the Profile page.
Does that make sense?
Larry
Thanks! LarryHi LarryC,
What is the Main site? Whether it is a site that you are following.
In SharePoint Server 2013, a My Site is a personal site for individual users in an organization. Although an organization can customize My Sites, by default the top of every page displays tabs for:
• Newsfeed
• OneDrive
• Sites
Newsfeed is the user’s social hub where he or she can see updates from the people, documents, sites, and tags that the user is following.
The OneDrive tab links to the user’s OneDrive for Business. OneDrive for Business is the user’s personal file storage and synchronization service for business use.
The Sites tab lists the sites that the user is following and suggested sites that the user might find interesting. The user can use this to easily keep track of the sites he or she is most interested in.

Reporting Services 2008 R2 - SharePoint Integration Mode
Hi everyone,
I installed Reporting Services 2008 R2 in my SharePoint(2013) server and configurated the SSRS to run in SharePoint Integrate mode. But, when I run the command Install-SPRSService in SharePoint 2013 Management Shell, I get this error:
Does anyone know how resolve it ? I search but I didn't get a solution :(
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards!SSRS 2008 R2 isn't supported with SharePoint 2013. You'll need a minimum of SSRS 2012 SP1. In addition, SSRS 2008 R2 doesn't include the cmdlet you're looking for because it isn't a Service Application, rather it sat external to SharePoint.
The support matrix is at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492257.aspx.

Reporting Services 2012 for SharePoint and SQL Server Agent "Subscriptions and Alerts"
After installing Reporting Services for SharePoint (Denali) in my test farm, I'm trying to configure the "SQL Server Agent" access for Reporting Services. From Central Admin I'm going to the Reporting Service applicaiton configuration screen and selecting
"Provision Subscriptions and Alerts". I've tried both options on this screen. I've manually executed the "download sql script" in SQL Server, as well as entering a user with SQL sys admin rights on the SQL server into the login fields on the screen.
The role and permissions have been created for the application pool service account, but Reporting Services is still trying to connect with the annonymous login because I'm getting the following alert each time I open the "Provision Subscriptions and Alerts"
screen:
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'
The "status" on the screen still shows "SQL Server Agent State cannot be determined". Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks!!Thanks for your reply!
1) Looks like the new Reporting Services does not run as a Windows Service so it's not listed in the "Configure Service Accounts" pulldown. As a result, I don't see how to set the service account. It's only assigned to an application pool.
I installed it into an existing application pool and that application pool "is" in the list and has a domain service account already assigned.
2) Which users need to be in here in order to configure the "Provision Subscriptions and Alerts" screen? I already have the farm admin account which is the account I use when running Central Admin.
3) As mentioned in #1, I've installed Reporting Services into an existing application pool with other service apps.
4) This link is for Reporting Services 2008 R2 which is very different install process. But I did follow the SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 RC0 installation instructions and the Reporting Services is functioning correctly with no errors.
I'm just not able to configure the sceduling the alerting with interfaces with the SQL Server Agent.
Thanks!
