Report with varying queries

Hi all,
I want to develop a query based report that takes in a parameter and runs different queries based on the value of the parameter. How can I accomplish this?
-Vatsa

Hi Ron,
I selected PL/SQL block returning query and put the following in the source, but I am getting an error saying the SQL cannot be parsed..
declare
v_sql varchar(4000):= NULL;
BEGIN
IF upper(:P_STATUS) = 'UNRESOLVED' THEN
v_sql:= 'SELECT Identifier, Engineer_id, SEVERITY, COMMENTS FROM DEFECTS WHERE PROJECT ='|| :P_PROJECT||' AND RELEASE = '||
:P_RELEASE ||' AND RECORD_TYPE = ''PTR'' AND FEATURE = '|| :P_FEATURE ||' AND status in (''A'', ''O'', ''N'', ''U'', ''L'');';
return v_sql;
ELSIF upper(:P_STATUS) = 'RESOLVED' THEN
v_sql:= 'SELECT Identifier, Engineer_id, SEVERITY, COMMENTS FROM DEFECTS WHERE PROJECT ='|| :P_PROJECT||' AND RELEASE = '||
:P_RELEASE ||' AND RECORD_TYPE = ''PTR'' AND FEATURE = '|| :P_FEATURE ||' AND status in (''W'', ''T'', ''I'', ''V'');' ;
RETURN v_sql ;
ELSIF upper(:P_STATUS) = 'CLOSED' THEN
v_sql:= 'SELECT Identifier, Engineer_id, SEVERITY, COMMENTS FROM DEFECTS WHERE PROJECT ='|| :P_PROJECT||' AND RELEASE = '||
:P_RELEASE ||' AND RECORD_TYPE = ''PTR'' AND FEATURE = '|| :P_FEATURE ||' AND status in (''C'');' ;
RETURN v_sql ;
END IF;
EXCEPTION
WHEN others THEN
return 'Nothing' ;

  • Transport of sap queries report with variants

    We created an ABAP Query report (it is system generated report). We created Z transactions to which we attached generated report. We added Z transaction, User group & infoset in transport & transported same to quality system.
    For some transactions report is transported for some it is not. why so?
    Also we created variants for these transactions & mentioned same while creating transaction. These variants are also not transported. I checked that these programs are generated by system as local obj. & when i tried to add variants in transport request using program RSTRANSP system gave me message that cant add variants for local objects.
    Can you please let us know how can we transport Transactions created by ABAP query report with variants?

    Hi
    To use the variants in the other systems, you have to create System Variants. While creating a variant provide the name of the variant starting with CUS& and include the same in request number.
    For transporting the Query, User group and Info set use the Query Transport tool program - RSAQR3TR

  • Bursting a report with multiple queries

    Hi,
    I need to set-up bursting in BIP for a report with multiple queries. The output format is pdf and delivery is through e-mail. Since the queries need to be linked, I'm trying to do this using data template. I've set-up split and burst based on a field (store_id) from the first query which is used as a bind variable in the subsequent queries. So I'd ideally want the report to be split based on store_id. The report works fine if I use a parameter for store_id and view the output by store_id. When I try to schedule the report for bursting, it generates and e-mails the reports but only the last report appears to have correct data output while the others have only the output from the first query (and all other queries appear to return nothing in the report).
    Any suggestions on what could be the issue here? Thanks!
    Here is the data template for the report:

    Hello user6428199,
    When you use ":Q1_STORE_ID" in your queries, BI Publisher looks for a report parameter named Q1_STORE_ID. Change all your report queries to get data for all the store_id's available. As you are bursting the report using the store_id as the bursting key, BI Publisher will split the report based on the stored_id and delivers content based on it. No matter how many queries you may have, BI Publisher will loop through all the store_id's available and all the queries will return data for that particular id in a report.
    Thanks,
    Machaan

  • Report with Multiple queries too slow in BI Publisher 11g

    Hi, I have a report in 11g where i need to create multiple queries to show them in report. I tried to combine everything in one query, but i found that the query is too huge and hard to understand and maintain. I created 3 data sets and linked them together. In SQL dev, the main query is returning about 315 records and first detail query returns less than 100 records and second detail query is returning one record which is BLOB. Each query returns data within a couple of seconds from SQL Developer. The entire report from BI Publisher should be just 21 page PDF output. Did anyone face performance issues while running reports with multiple queries in 11g? I ran reports that have single query which returned 10K pages PDF and never had an issue while everthing is in one query. This is the first time Iam attempting to create multiple queries. Can someone help me understand what i might be doing wrong or missing here. Thank you.

    Isn't there a way for you to do this via a Package/Procedure versus having multiple queries?
    Per the BI Publisher guide,
    Following are recommended guidelines for building data models:
    Reduce the number of data sets or queries in your data model as much as possible. In general, the fewer data sets and queries you have, the faster your data model will run. While multiquery data models are often easier to understand, single-query data models tend to execute more quickly. It is important to understand that in parent-child queries, for every parent, the child query is executed.
    You should only use multiquery data models in the following scenarios:
    To perform functions that the query type, such as a SQL query, does not support directly.
    To support complex views (for example, distributed queries or GROUP BY queries).
    To simulate a view when you do not have or want to use a view.
    Thanks,

  • (Urgent)Report with 2 Queries

    Hi all,
    I have a report which run from 3 tables: STUMST (student master table), STUDET (student detail table) and STUREDET (student result detail table). The STUMST is the parent table which has a child called STUDET. STUDET has a child which is STUREDET.
    STUMST---> STUDET ---> STUREDET
    The query I have written will select the records from the STUREDET. These records will be displayed in the repeating frame of the report. The report will be generated by 1 student name (or student ID) per page.
    Let say I have found 4 records matching with the STUDENT_ID from STUREDET. Due to certain conditions, I need to take the records from STUDET, parent of STUREDET. The desired result from the STUDET is actually 2 records which is matching with the STUDENT_ID. How do I "go back" to the parent table?
    Please help. Thank you in advance.
    Cheers,
    Joey

    Are the queries producing independent results or are they tied to each others' results?
    If they are tied to each other, you would be better building them in BI Publisher proper as that is the easiest way to build reports with linked queries (probably as a Data Template). Then once it works there, just generate a link document only to the report and put that in your apex page. However there is a catch, for security you would really need to be running SSO through OID so that once users login to APEX they are also logged in to the report server.
    I have a similar question out on the forums (APEX Downloadable Reports is why I say this. Maybe someone else has a better answer but as far as I have been able to find out when the queries are closely tied to each other the only true answer is to build the report directly in BI Publisher.

  • Single report with multiple queries OR multiple reports with single query

    Hello Experts,
    I have a confusion regarding Live Office connection for many days. I asked many people but did not get a concrete answer. I am re-posting this question here and expecting an answer this time.
    The product versions that I am using are as follows:
    FrontEnd:
      BOE XI 3.1 SP4 FP 4.1
      Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP4
    Backend:
      SAP BW 7.0 EHP1
    I have created a dashboard which is getting data from a webi report using LO connections.
    The webi report has five report parts which are populated by five different queries.
    Now my question is, when the five LO connections are refreshed, is the webi report refreshed five times or just once?
    If the report is refreshed five times, then I guess it is better to have five different webi reports containing single report part, because in that way we can prevent same query being executed multiple times.
    SO what is the best practice- to have a single report having multiple queries - OR - to create multiple webi reports with single query?
    Thanks and Regards,
    PASG

    HI
    I think Best Practice is Multiple reports with single query
    Any way If LO connections refresh 5 time the query will refresh 5 timesRegards

  • Creating report with multiple queries in clear quest

    Hi,
    I am new to reports and currently working with creating reports that connect to clear quest(CQ).
    I have successfully created several reports, that connect to the CQ, but they all have data from only one query.
    Now I am trying to create a slightly complex report where I need to fetch data from multiple queries. All these queries use 2 parameter to filter their data. I have dynamic cascading parameters to get them. When just connecting they all work ok. I used the link tab to link them to two fields of one query, to make sure that they all filter to fields from same query.
    The problem is when I drop the fields from the various queries on the form, the data is fetched multiple times.
    I also played with links to make them outer links but in that case I get error and unable to run the report completely.
    Any ideas on how to work with multiple queries and provide same parameters to all of the queries?
    Thanks in advance.
    -PAP

    - How do I make sure that the relationship is not one to many?
    You don't. That's the nature of the data. For example a single person can order multiple items. A simple one to many relationship.
    - In the link tab, I can only point to queries, is there a way I can point the fields to report params?
    You should be seeing tables... I think you're having a tough time with the basic terminology.
    - How does these Enforce Joins (4 options) work.
    There is rarely if ever any reason to switch from the default "not enforced". Leave it alone. The only one you'll touch 90% of the time is the Join Type.
    PAP,
    Based on the questions you're asking, it sounds like you are missing some major database fundamentals. My suggestion would be to step away from CR for the time being and read a little bit about relational databases (what makes them relational) and database normalization. This will also give you an idea about the various join types and when to use one over the other.
    You can know every feature and function in CR, but until you have at least a basic knowledge of how data relates, you'll never pull in the data you need.

  • Report with multiple queries

    Hi All,
    I need to develop a report with 5 big queries.. and i need to union these queries based on the parameters passed but we cannot use if condition in the report sql qurey.Also tried to use lexical parameter in the after paraform trigger but it didn't accept lexical parameter as tablename in the query..
    for ex: select * from &w1 is not working.......... (say w1 is lexical parameter)
    please help
    thanx in advance.

    select * from &w1Infact, you can do so, but you have to make sure, that w1 has a valid table-name as default-value. Also, the column-name have to match in all the tables, or you have to alias. And lastly, i strongly suggest not to use SELECT *, but list all the desired columns separately.

    I want to create a report in html which I open in Excel for my colleagues to edit. One report contains a varying number of variables, such as years. I want to be able to order the records by the years in different blocks, i.e. blocks of projects which are carried out in 2006, 2007, etc. Is there a way of generating such a report with a dynamic number of years without using pl/sql?
    Thanks for any help!

  • How to create a graph(9i reports) with 3 queries in 1 Chart

    Hi, i have 3 query's which creates three groups.
    The x-as is de month,month1,month2.
    The Y-as ClaimsInEURO.
    There has to be one BAR which displays the top10 reasons.
    And two lines one with Total Claim and one with SUM Claim.
    Can onyone explain me the settings and especially how to set the groups?

    Hi,
    You may not be able to create one graph with multiple queries. You must get all the data into ONE query, and create a graph based on that query.

  • Crystal Report with BW queries

    Hi,
    Whether any special rules needs to be followed when designing BW
    Queries (Both Normal and MDX) for crystal report.  I have a MDX query
    which is returning sales and forecast value for rolling six months.
    When we are running the query through BEx analyser I am getting all
    the six months with Nulls when there is no sales for a given month.
    But when I am invoking the same query through crystal I am getting
    only the rows which has values and I am not getting any rows with
    NULLS for key figures.  Its disturbing my design of the report.
    I have very little knowledge in BW side.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Subbu S.

    Hi,
    In BW, you can show or hide 0 columns or rows based on your requirement.
    I think you want to see 0 columns/rows also in CR side.
    If you are using Crosstab for your report, did you try to uncheck 'Suppress Empty Rows/Columns' (from Crosstab Expert-->Customize Style  menu)

  • How to mass print a report with multiple queries?

    Dear All,
    i want to precalclate a report (which includes 4 queries) to pdf for printing. Because i have to print it for all profitcenter (~200), i want to use the filter navigation.
    Because this isn't possible for reports, i inserted my report using a report item to a web template.
    When i call the web template direct, everything works fine, but if i precalculate the web template using the bex broadcaster, only one query is parameterized. The second one seems to use the global variant (the sum of all profitcenter).
    Any Idea? Do i have to change an export web template and add some data provider? I am not absolutely sure which is the right export template for an report in a web template...
    Thanks in advance,

  • Report with Two Queries -- Really need your Help Guys

    I might be posting duplicate thread but i couldnt found the Q&A that i am looking for.
    I am trying to create a report where i have to use two query. Also, with this query i am passing parameter where i ask user to enter Report Month so they can run report by what ever month they want to see data.
    Now my Q_2 is duplicate or Q_1 because in my final report layout i have to display fields where i have to compare current_month_data to Previous_month_data. so basically i want user to in put current month date and previous month date and layout look like.
    Company_Name Currentmonth_sale previousMonth_Sales ....
    Honda $1423.42 $324.42
    Toyota $3433 $4255.45
    so on....
    Now so far i create report manualy and drop two query in to the report but when i trying to create Report Wizard and group by each Company.. it is not giving me the out put that i want. Instead of giving me above out put its give me my Q_! result with each company group and then under that result i have Q_2 result.
    so HOW CAN I DISPLAY FIELDS FROM MY Q_2 WITH MY REST OF THE FIELD ON Q_1?????????????????????????
    Thank You guys.

    Actually, I tried to use Data Link but i am not able to success.
    Let me know if I am doing anything wrong . i click on left hand side tool panel where its says DATA LINK. then i click on Q_1 field and then drag the mouse over to Q_2 query with same field name. but its give me an error that Can not link it because of Group data and i have option to choose Yes, NO or Cancel.
    Let me know what are the step i need to take in order to link this two queries.
    Thank You

  • Shortcut for transaction/report with variant?

    Hi!
    Is there a possibility to create a shortcut for a report/variant and a specific variant for that transaction?
    I do not know, how to implement the variant into a shortcut.
    E.g. I want to use the shortcut to call up the transaction CNS47 with the variant ORDERS.
    Thanks,
    Stefan

    hi,
    afaik, it is not possible to assign multiple variant in a tcode using SE93, cmiiw.
    but an idea is copying original CNS47 into ZTcode (customize) : ZCNS47a,  ZCNS47b, ZCNS47c and so on, and then assign each (different) variant to ZCNS47a, ZCNS47b, ZCNSc and so on.
    not a great idea, but may resolve your issue.
