Reports 9i Legend Limitations

Hello,
How do you change the maximum number of columns in the legend? I am converting reports from 6i that can display 40+ columns in the legend. I have noticed on all of the reports that the maximum seems to be 20. Here is the code behind my graph:

I opened a TAR through metalink and they created a bug on the issue. The bug number on this is 2763453.

  • Embedded report engine is limited to a max of 3 simultaneous user requests

    Please help me.
    I currently developing an ASP.NET web application using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 with Crystal Reports Embedded.
    But found that this embedded report engine is limited to a maximum of three simultaneous user requests.
    I would like to know, is it any solution for increase the amount of crystal report simultaneous user requests? Can this issues solved if we upgrade to Full Version Crystal Report?
    Please help me. Thank you everyone.

    Hello,
    3 licensing is what stays with the Engine dll and itu2019s applicable to all Crystal bundled products(CR 4 VS2010, CR 4 VS2008, CR 4 VS2005, CR 4 VS2003) and stand alone products(CRXIR2 S6, CR2008 SP3). This cannot be changed/increased until you opt for our server based products, which gives you option for increasing the licenses. You might want to contact CIC (800-677-7271) to get more details on this.
    Until an existing handle on report is released from memory, the other requests cannot be taken up. So, once a report rendering is over you might want to call the ReportDocumentObject.Close(),ReportDocumentObject.Dispose() and force the GC to act. This might release the unused objects from memory and you can reuse them.
    As Don suggested, if you wish, do a search on the forum threads and you will find more details and licensing guides for different products provided earlier.
    As far as my knowledge goes, timeout can also be caused if your app has timeout defined or DB has a timeout setting done. You might want to check that. If you need help on timeout section, I hope you will address it in a new thread. See [rules of engagement.|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/x/FgQ]
    Thanks.

  • Crystal Report File Size Limitation

    Post Author: lashworth
    CA Forum: General
    I am running into a file size issue with Crystal Reports. If the report file approaches 80MB then they do not run or display well or at all. Can anyone tell me how best to investigate this problem?

    Hello,
    What version of Cr and .NET?
    Does your printer have limited memory?
    Is it local printer?
    Have you tried installing the latest Drivers for it?
    What Browser are you using and have you tried any other?
    40 pages not much local memory so it shouldn't be a problem.
    Create a new Printer and select File rather than port or LPT as the destination to see if it's a physical printer or network issue.
    Try a different printer altogether also.
    Also refer to Rule of Engagement posting before submitting your question so you provide as much info first.
    Thank you

  • APEX 3.1 Report pagination style limited by max row count

    I am working on an application using APEX 3.1 and am having trouble keeping the report pagination style as a select list when the max row count for the report is greater than 8000. If I use the select list as the pagination method, the first time that the first page is viewed is fine however all subsequent pages begin to use the "next" and "previous" link method of pagination. This is only occurring when the max row count is higher than 8000 and a select list is used for pagination.
    My question is: is the style of pagination, in Oracle APEX (3.1), limited by the potential number of rows returned for the report? If not, is this a bug with my version of Oracle APEX?

    The source of my problem was that the report referenced a page item for the number of rows. That select list referenced a named List of Values (LOV) that limited the number of rows that the report could display. I removed that reference and my problem disappeared!

  • APEX 4.0 Report Query column limitation, 43 column maximum for the result!

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to generate report from Apex 4.0.1, but I got stucked with column limitation when I'm executing the report query.
    Case:
    Environment: oracle 11g, apex 4.0.1, oracle BI 11, windows xp
    Table: My test table is quite simple, by creating a sample table with 44 columns, the column name is random, i.e. column1..column44, column data type is varchar2 (20)
    report query:my report query is also simple, by "select * from testtable"
    Data: no data in my sample table
    Error: then I'll get the error: "HelpORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small"
    solution: If I shrink the table column from 44 to 43, then the report can be generated to xls, pdf, etc.
    Question: Is there any column limitation for Apex report query? I know there's a 32k row size limitation for varchar, but since there's no single data in my table, it shouldn't be the case.
    Does anybody get this issue before? Thanks for any generous input!! :)
    Horatio

    hi marko,
    Thanks for the reply, but i can't find the 45 column limitation from report query and report printing. any clue for this call?

  • Return Links at top of Report?  Legend Labels on Bar Chart Rollovers?

    Hi,
    I have two questions.
    1. Is there a way to easily put the 'Return' links at the top of all reports? i.e. is there a template I can edit to do this to all my reports? I have hundreds of reports and changing them all by hand by putting a static text with HTML isn't really an option for me.
    2. Is there a way to show the Legend value when you hover over a Bar on a Bar Chart. I'm pretty sure pie charts do this, but in my Bar Chart, hovering over the individual bars only shows the value. I would like for it to also show which legend item it is when a user hovers over.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Kevin,
    I was looking into the issue. I can confirm that the scid code that's generated is dynamic.
    I also looked into the return link - the code is the following (you already know this).
    td class="ResultLinksCell"><a href="javascript:void(null)" onclick="return ViewBack('d:dashboard~p:9md8uku78u84kdge~r:kug9avdjlblr24fq','DrillBack','1pnm8a1lmln3ml08v6lil3d8gi');" title="Return to the previous page" name="SectionElements">Return</a</tdI checked several JS files in OracleBI\web\app\res\b_mozilla folder - tableview.js, viewhelper.js- although I found the function responsible for Return link (viewback) - I couldn't find the xml where you'd need to put that link in front of the following code - div id="idResultsTableParent"><table id="saw_146_3" class="ResultsTable" I suggest you search for the place in xml where it's generating table view and put the return link on top of the table.

  • Interactive Report "Group By" Limitation

    Hi,
    Anybody installed the latest APEX? i believe it's 4.2.3.
    Could you please tell me
    is the limitation for interactive report "group by" action increased?  (3 columns max for my 4.2 version)
    I consider this is a major drawback...
    Thanks,
    John

    You can find out for yourself by requesting a workspace on apex.oracle.com, which always runs the latest production release.
    Could you please tell me

    No. Patch releases like 4.2.3 are never likely to include significant changes in functionality. They only provide bug fixes.
    I consider this is a major drawback...
    Interactive reports follow the 80/20 rule. They satisfy 80% of the requirements of 80% of users 80% of the time. If your requirements fall into any of the remaining 20% categories then you have to build something yourself. APEX is a development tool after all...

  • APEX Interactive Report - CSV Export Limitations?

    Hello,
    I have an interactive report generated for some users.
    The issue I'm having right now is that the results that the users need is over 100k and the export to csv option caps out at 65,535 rows. Is this a limitation on APEX Interactive Report's side and is there anyway to get around it so we can send 100k records (or more) to the users without them splitting the report many ways?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ivan

    Ivan,
    I'm afraid that I can't answer your question. The APEX insiders will have to field that one.
    As one that dislikes voluminous reports, have tried swaying your users that you now have this great interface to drill to the data you need versus downloading gobs of data and filling up their hard drives. Ask if there is something else your application can do that they would do with all that data in Excel.

  • Financial Reporting Chart Legend

    Hi everyone,
    I want to create some chart in Financial Reporting Studio. I was wondering if have any idea of how to present the legend of a chart in Financial Reporting in a line instead of a column that it is the default.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
    Thank you for the reply.
    However, my goal is to change the layout of the legend and not the placement of the legend.
    In other words, my goal is to place the members of the legend in one line under the chart, the one member should be next to the other and not under the other as it is by default.
    Example:
    Default legend:
    Net Interest Income
    Revenue
    Expenses
    My goal:
    Net Interest Income Revenue Expenses
    Thank you in advance

  • Report Queries column limitation

    Hi All,
    is there any limitation on PDF report queries regarding the column number?

    Does some one know what is the limit and why?
    Thanks a lot,

    Thanks for the reply, sorry I have corrected first script with the length of response in xml format.
    The script executes just fine in SQL developer and Toad, and in APEX SQL Workshop , and even I was able to create a classic report with the same script.
    It is Report Queries generation. Not PDF it self, because if I select HTML i am getting same error
    If I execute this select, it gives me the error:
    SELECT ROW_ID, SUBJECT_ID_1, DOC_1, PATIENT_ID_1, SPECIMEN_ID_1,
                   SUBJECT_ID_2, DOC_2, PATIENT_ID_2, SPECIMEN_ID_2,
                   SUBJECT_ID_3, DOC_3, PATIENT_ID_3, SPECIMEN_ID_3,
                   SUBJECT_ID_4, DOC_4, PATIENT_ID_4, SPECIMEN_ID_4,
                   SUBJECT_ID_5, DOC_5, PATIENT_ID_5, SPECIMEN_ID_5,
                   SUBJECT_ID_6, DOC_6, PATIENT_ID_6, SPECIMEN_ID_6,
                   SUBJECT_ID_7, DOC_7, PATIENT_ID_7, SPECIMEN_ID_7,
                   SUBJECT_ID_8, DOC_8, PATIENT_ID_8, SPECIMEN_ID_8
      FROM TABLE (LABELS.GET_COLLECTION_LABELS(103))If i execute this one, everything is ok:
    SELECT ROW_ID, SUBJECT_ID_1, DOC_1, PATIENT_ID_1||SPECIMEN_ID_1 a1,
                   SUBJECT_ID_2, DOC_2, PATIENT_ID_2||SPECIMEN_ID_2 a2,
                   SUBJECT_ID_3, DOC_3, PATIENT_ID_3||SPECIMEN_ID_3 a3,
                   SUBJECT_ID_4, DOC_4, PATIENT_ID_4||SPECIMEN_ID_4 a4,
                   SUBJECT_ID_5, DOC_5, PATIENT_ID_5||SPECIMEN_ID_5 a5,
                   SUBJECT_ID_6, DOC_6, PATIENT_ID_6||SPECIMEN_ID_6 a6,
                   SUBJECT_ID_7, DOC_7, PATIENT_ID_7||SPECIMEN_ID_7 a7,
                   SUBJECT_ID_8, DOC_8, PATIENT_ID_8||SPECIMEN_ID_8 a8
      FROM TABLE (LABELS.GET_COLLECTION_LABELS(103))It is defiantly some limitation on the number of columns, but what is the reason and why? Maybe there is a way to avoid this.
    Thanks

  • SQL Report (Updateable - MRU) Limitation - ORA-06502

    Hi,
    I am using ApEx v3.0.1.00.07 and was wondering if there is a limitation on a MRU based on a Master-Detail relationship?
    My underlying table (let's call is Table B) has approx 30 columns (not all used) and just over 700 rows of data and growing.
    Lately, when my users select a application from a master table (Table A), to retrieve detail records from Table B, which is a SQL Updateable Report and based on selection from Table A, only two records will be returned from Table B, but instead, they receive the error:
    report error:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    I find that when I turn off columns, within the report attributes, this tends to correct the issue until again, the same error occurs.
    Would really appreciate some assistance with correcting this problem as Table B data rows will be increasing on a regular basis.
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    The limits have to do with report rows not being able to exceed 32K. Too many columns will produce too much HTML per row. You also have a "number of rows" limit because of the total number of arguments passed to modplsql as indicated by an Apache error log entry like:
    mod_plsql: /pls/htmldb/wwv_flow.accept HTTP-400 Too many arguments passed in. Got 23549 parameters. Upper limit is 2000
    Then there's the debate about whether updateable reports, especially large ones, are a good design choice for web applications. They have a lot going against them.

  • Webi Reports with BEx Limitations

    Hi,
    I want to know the limitations of Webi reports when the underlying universe is built on top of BEx Queries. For example, would the following in BEx queries work with Webi reports?
    Text variables in BEx Queries.
    Cell restrictions
    Authorization variables
    Thanks.

    Text variables in BEx Queries.
    You cannot use Text Variables in WebI snce they are not imported into SAP Universe.
    Cell restrictions
    Cell restriction again do not come Universe that is why the are not applied to WebI.
    Authorization variables
    I am not sure about authorization variable.

  • Interactive Report: collection not limited to screen?

    Hi,
    My problem: I want to use the selection made in an interactive report and put that into an APEX collection. BUT I do not want it to be limited to the rows shown on the screen.
    For instance: if a user makes a selection with his interactive report of 2000 rows, the screen only shows for instance the first 50. I want the id's of the all the 2000 rows, so I can make a fixed report to be exported out of that.
    Is it possible to obtain the collection that the interactive report uses?
    Any help is appreciated...

    Hi lilhelp,
    If you dont want to show the report defaultly then, restrict your region source query of the report with some filter page items in your WHERE clause.

  • Crystal Reports UFL DLL limitation?

    Hello there,
    Is there any kind of limitation on UFL Dlls that are being used on crystal reports? Such as connecting to webservices or using sql connections to reach data from databases or using 3rd party dlls?
    the UFL dll is working fine, once i started debuging it i noticed that i could not call the webservice, not even create an instance of the SoapClient.
    I did test the SoapClient from an Exe and it did work fine, just not inside this dll.
    I did try to add
    <system.net>
        <settings>
          <httpWebRequest useUnsafeHeaderParsing = "true" />
        </settings>
      </system.net>
    to the app.config but still, no luck.
    Any tips?

    hello there,
    I have tested in C#.net 2010 and vb.2010. Both gave me the same problem.
    I did try the dll in 64 and 32 bit. Both seems to have the same issue.
    I don't think that the problem is related with the webservice itself as i also have problems when i use other 3rd party dlls and apparently i can't/not be able to.
    The DLL have been registered by visual studio after compiling (i did try to regasm it manually and did try debug mode too).
    i did attach the dll to a process that will call the crystal reports map and the function that the map prints can't create an instance of the webservice soapclient.

  • Historical Reporting Client Schedule Limitations

    I have a customer and they are trying to use the Historical Reporting Client for UCCX to schedule reports for the different departments and upload them automatically to a sharepoint site.  I have been looking to find the limitations of the scheduler in accomplishing something like this.  Does anyone know or has anyone ran into limitations to the following:
    Max number of reports scheduled?
    Max time of reports scheduled?
    Issues with scheduling all reports to run at the same time?  Or do we need to stagger them?
    So I would assume my customer wants to schedule about 200-300 reports a night.  Most will be daily, but weekly and monthly will be thrown in there.  I have the server set to limit the number of connection to 10 (shouldn't be a problem???).
    Anyone info on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
