Resizable text widget increases leading

Hi,
I am finding that the resizable text widget does not resize text but increases leading instead.
Has anyone found this to be the case?
Thanks,
Germán Herrera

Zak. thank you very much!
And sorry for coming back so late on this.
You solution perfectly solved the problem.
On the downside,) I did have to change the layout and reformat the site to submit it to the client because the deadline came before I got your reply.
Perhaps the "Round Leading to a Whole Number" setting should be checked by default to avoid this kind of problems for other users in the future.
Anyway, a million thanks!

    I'm looking for a java text widget toolkit that has features for graphically editing (resizing,moving, etc), for example, a JTextArea. Features that allow for colorizing characters will also be great. I have been unsuccessfully looking for such a tookit. If any one knows where I can find something along these lines, please let me know..

  • My mouse wheel is not resizing text like it's supposed to ... how do I fix this?

    BACKGROUND: I'm getting tired of warnings in Seamonkey about sites no longer supporting it, and am considering switching to firefox (with the add-ons that keep the Mozilla look and feel, instead of trying to pretend it's M$ IE (which I wouldn't touch with a 100000000 foot pole).
    Problem #1: I'm used to my mouse wheel resizing text in a tab,
    but for some reason, I can't find the option to enable this in firefox.
    How do I configure this to work properly? I seem to recall an add-on that fixes this, but can't find it now.
    Problem #2: I had an add-on (back when I first tested firefox), that restored Edit-->Preferences, but it's no longer working. Is there another way to put the Preferences option where I'm used to looking for it?

  • Text widget

    I just got my droid x about a week ago. Before that I had the droid pro. When I had the pro I put a text widget to one of my contacts and when I went to that widget it took me to the entire conversation. Now on my droid x the widget just let's me text but won't let me see the conversation. Is there a way to let me see everything or is that just how the x works?

    I don't know what text app you are using, but there may be a market text app that will offer a widget that will do what you need.
    I understand what you are getting at. I've never had that need, so I've not delved into trying it.
    Look at Handcent, Chomp, and Go messaging.
    Also, there may be a way to get that Droid Pro widget on your X. Unfortunately, you won't find it here, LOL. Do a search for "Android Forums" or sites and you just might find that widget, as I did with the News & Weather widget from the original Droid, before that widget was put on the phone in the Froyo update.
    Good luck,

  • Dynamic Text Boxes / Resizing text boxes

    I have a site with a dynamic text box that I have initialized
    (I'm not sure that that is the correct term) at the beginning with:
    myText = new LoadVars();
    myText.onLoad = function()
    { textBox_txt.htmlText = this.content;
    myText.load("text/bio.txt");
    stop();
    Then I have just used a text box throughout with the same
    instance name, although sometimes I have it on a new keyframe. I
    assumed I could just keep loading text into it on different frames
    with:
    stop();
    myText.load("text/performances.txt");
    This appears to be working, except that sometimes it seems to
    be confused and the text box on a certain frame has the wrong text
    in it. Do I have to initialize one for each frame in order for them
    to display the right code? What could be causing it to load another
    text file if it's frame action is telling it to load something
    else? It seems unnecessary to have to re-initialize it for a new
    text box instance in every new frame, but is that the way it has to
    be done?
    Also, I'm not clear on resizing text boxes. It seems like if
    I use the width and height numbers to resize this text box on
    different pages then it changes the size of the text inside, and
    the scroll bar (the UIScrollbar) is a little squishy looking
    sometimes. How does this work?
    Thanks for any help.

    You will find it much better to create a new LoadVars object
    for each of the frames, just call them myText1 myText2 etc.
    The name of the text box instance in this case is irrelevant
    but best practice would be to give them individual names.
    As for the stretching effect use setSize() for UI
    components.

  • CS3 'Increase Leading' key not working

    I am trying to use, or create, a keyboard shortcut to increase leading by one of the preset units.
    The shortcut should be Com+Opt+Shift+' but this is not being recognised.
    I have tried removing the default shortcut and re-saving this key combination, but that combination of keys is just not being accepted. Nothing using these keys is recognised. I can use any other key or combination of keys, but not Com+Opt+Shift+' (which is the old Quark shortcut!)
    Can someone suggest why these keys aren't recognised?
    I'm using the latest Leopard OS and latest CS3.

  • Resizing echosign widgets embedded into a webpage also stop the green prompt from appearing

    Hello all I am new here so go easy! We are currently playing around with a few company's who offer online document signing I really like how easy echosign is to manage and the way it creates the widgets but I have a few issues which I would love some help with.
    So I am creating the form in acrobat pro XI then opening it in echosign to convert to a widget all is good on this part but when I embed the Java into my website the form displays smaller than it should be this then means the user has to use the zoom function which cuts off the viewable page this wouldn't be so bad but when you move the form to see which box to enter information the form jumps up. it's really not very user friendly for users filling in the form, the ability to resize the widget would solve this problem.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Richard

    Thank you Jat
    Is there any chance this will be implemented in the future, most people I have spoken with about this have recommended Docusign for this reason but I much prefer echosign.
    Thanks again for the speedy reply.

  • Resizing Text for Accessibility

    Hi All,
    I just set up my website using iweb. Everything works except that the user is not able to resize text via the web browser. My friend, who has experience testing sites for accessiblity, says that the text is "alt-text" rather than "real-text." Does anyone know how to change this so that my users will be able to change the text size using View in the browser window?
    Thanks in advance!

    Ilias ~ I'm fairly sure the OP is pointing out that, even when the text has not been converted to a text-image, the text-text does not respond to browser commands to enlarge the text. So, for example, this iWeb site's text in the main body of the page has not been converted to an image:
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_FAQ.html
    ...yet the text won't enlarge in response to browser commands. Contrast that with this Apple page (not made with iWeb) which does respond to browser commands to enlarge the text:

  • CP8: Custom question using multiple TEBs / Scrollable Text Widgets

    Hi,
    I want to create a custom question with multiple Text Entry Boxes (TEBs) or Scrollable Text Widgets (STWs) that is compatible with HTML5.
    User has to enter just one word in each TEB / STW i.e. a one line STW.
    I want the user to be able to Retry the question i.e. click Retry button to automatically clear the TEBs / STWs that are incorrect.
    Question is not being scored or reported to an LMS.
    TEBs:
    I'm assuming you can't clear a TEB so I tried using a STW.
    STWs:
    FYI: I'm clearing the STW using Null.
    The issues I am trying to resolve are:
    1. Disabling the Enter key so that the 1 line STW will behave like a TEB i.e. doesn’t move to the 2nd line, and the Up Down scrollable indicators aren't displayed.
    There is a post that suggests executing JS on Slide Enter but I already have an Advanced Action associated with Slide Enter.
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1451011?q=disabling%20Enter%20key
    2. When retrying a question how do I disable STWs i.e. ones that contains a correct answer so user can't change it. (I know the Disable action won't work)
    I am using Captivate 8.0.1.242 on Windows 8.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards
    Donal.

    Some answers, probably not all what you want. I blogged about using the Scrolling Text (formerly the TextArea widget) several times.
    In Captivate 8 you can indeed control what is shown in the Scrolling Text Interaction, by changing the associated variable. That was not possible before this version (have been begging for it, finally with success) and it is still not possible for a Text Entry Box. You can change the value of the variable, but it will not be visible in the TEB.
    An interaction is automatically reset when re-entering the slide, maybe that can help you as well? That is not the case for a TEB.
    Disabling  has no sense for an interaction that is static, only for interactive objects (and interactions). That means that you can disable a TEB, but not a Text Scrolling Interaction.
    Maybe this tip to prevent changing a correct answer for the interaction:  replace the interaction by a similar looking text container with the value of the variable if the answer is correct.

  • Apple support communities text widget causes unwanted variations in font size

    Typing a simple message into the Apple Support Communities using the built-in rich text widget often results in the published message containing unwanted variations in font size.
    At a random place in the published post, the font size gets slightly bigger, then at another point it gets slightly smaller, then slightly bigger and so on. I can't discern any pattern to when these variations occur - it's often in the middle of a sentence.
    It is not just me; I've seen the same effect in posts written by other people.
    I find these variations in font size are incredibly distracting to read; they really detract from whatever message that the poster is trying to convey.
    At first I thought it only happened when I pasted text in from elsewhere, but then I realized it happens even when I compose the message entirely in the web site's rich text widget.
    EDIT: You can see the variations happening in this post, even though it was composed entirely by typing and editing text within the site's built-in editor, without selecting any deliberate changes in font type or size. A quick look at the HTML from one of the paragraphs above shows some of the craziness going on:
    <p>At a random place in the published post, the font size gets slightly bigger, then at another point it gets slightly smaller, then slightly bigger and so on. <span style="font-size: 13.3333330154419px;">I can't discern any pattern to when these variations occur - it's often in the middle of a sentence.</span></p>

  • Resizing text boxes in Pages 5.2

    Looking for some pretty simple help here:
    At this point I merely want to resize a text box and the edges of the box refuses to be active for me to pull it to change the shape!    Why is this so hard now?
    (Below is my mini gripe session about Page 5.2)
    I'm using Pages 5.2 and the text boxes are suddenly very difficult to manage and it is very frustrating.  When working with the boxes they are covered with too much graphics with the top and side bars, and when using multi boxes on one pages the control graphics make a big visual tangle.  Adding rows, columns, deleting the same, even moving a box on the page is a struggle now because you have to find the little cross icon that appears on only one little place in the corner when before you could just drag the box from anywhere within the box!  Very unpleasant changes......

    Okay:  I see part of the problem:  I'm confusing tables with text boxes.  I'd rather work with text boxes.  Is there a way for a text box to have a solid, visible outline?  That would make it much easier!

  • Resizing Text Fields Causes Adobe to Hang

    Good Afternoon All-
      I have a PDF of our company floor plan. I added text fields over each office with the person's name and telephone number. There are over 100 text fields. I created this form in Adobe Acrobat Pro 8. I have since upgrade to 10 Pro. When I open the form and try to resize one of the text fields, Adobe will hang for on average, 1 minute or two and then come back to life. It only seems to happen when I resize or try to move a text field from this PDF. I tried adding text fields into other PDF's and they resize/move fine without Adobe hanging. Does anyone know what the issue might be? I even tried opening it up on another PC that has Acrobat Pro 11. I also tried using the PDF Optimizer and making it compatible with Acrobat 10 and still no dice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi AdobeDonutGeek,
    Based on your description, this would be one where it might be better to contact our technical support for assistance.

  • Resizing Text Containers Based on Size of Adjacent Image Components

    I have a strange problem related to the size of a text component. Basically in my app I have a hbox 1000 pixels wide containing an image component on the left hand side which isn't scaled and it's content is dynamic meaning that upon clicking of certain objects it changes in size and width etc as a bigger or smaller image is loaded into it. In the same hbox to the right of this I have a text area which is also populated dynamically by differing text in this way.
    The image components width and height is not set and neither is the text areas because as I say I want them to be populated dynamically but I'm going to limit the image's width by setting it's max width to 600 but what I want is as the image resizes to take up a larger portion of the h box, i want the text area to take up the REMAINDER of the hbox whilst having it's text flow onto the next lines below it. At the moment the text just seems to be flowing outside of the hbox box cutting through it to the right so to speak without going to the next line when it reaches the edge of the hbox.
    I haven't got much experience working with dynamic text. Can anyone give me any tips on this or tell me how to solve it? Thanks for any suggestions.

    Usually setting the width of the TextArea to 100% makes it occupy whatever space the Image does not occupy. Does that not work?

  • Help on resizing text boxes and general image techniques

    Using CS2.
    I have two basic questions.  One has to do with getting the best vector images (with text) that I can for placement in InDesign documents.  The other has to do with the specifics of working with text boxes in FW.
    The easiest way for me to produce vector images has been by using PowerPoint.  I do all the graphics work and then save it as a gif.  I do cropping in a graphics tool (Irfanview, PS) and then insert or place the image.  As long as there is no resizing, things work well.  I'm not sure how things like DPI are controlled using this technique but I'm assuming that also would be done with the graphics tool.  I know Irfanview allows for the dpi to be specified during resizing.
    The problem starts to show up when the gif object is resized.  Things get distorted and I lose the crispness of the image contents.  I'm certainly not an expert on graphics however I've been thinking I either need to 1) make the actual size of graphics in PP the size of the final placed image so there is no resizing (just some cropping) or 2) to work in a tool like FW where (I'm assuming) there are better capabilities to resize vector graphics.  My sense (again, not an expert) is that the process I'm using converts to vector graphics in PP to a bitmap image in the gif and that resizing doesn't work as well for bitmaps as for vector objects.  Do I have that right?
    Moving on to question 2:
    Can text boxes be resized in FW without distorting the text?  Can their size be seen when originally drasing them?  Perhaps spoiled by PowerPoint, I like to set the width of vector objects (e.g. rectangle) and the width of the text that will fill it to the same size.  (I know PP has the ability to put borders on text boxes but when working in FW I need to work with 2 objects, the rectangle and the text box).  Say I have a rectangle that is 81px wide.  Can I set a text box to 81px wide without distorting the text?
    I tend to want to control actual object sizes so I can get good spacial alignment.  For example, I tend to set the width of a text object to an odd number of px so that any line coming out of the text object aligns well with the text.  I must admit that it may be time for me to use a different technique in FW (e.g. more alignment of multiple objects vs. knowing dimensions and seting locations).  Does my approach need improvement?
    Thanks for any advice
    Tom

    As I wean off of PP I've started looking at FW and Illustrator (I have both).  I've done a logo or two in FW and have used it to build some simple web graphics (e.g. buttons, menus).  It can, as I recall, be a little more complex than what I need in this case.
    Since PP is not a graphics program, its drawing capabilities are very limited. As a consequence, any graphics application will have many more features than you're used to seeing and more than you need for any one project.
    I did a little experimenting with Illustrator and my first impression is that it will work better for me for this work.  It seems a little more intuitive.
    Is a general guideline to use FW for web-destined graphics and Illustrator for what I used to do in PP?
    Your suggested guideline is good. Also, note that if you make a logo or vector graphic in Illustrator (saving as .ai format), you can import that into Fireworks and work with it as a vector object there. FW can import and use, just not create, .ai objectes and files.
    FW has some vector tools, they are tucked away under Window > Others > Path. Since FW is intended for producing Web graphics, it is a hybrid application, capable of both vector and photo/image editing. Given that it has some of both, it necessarily doesn't have everything that Illustrator has nor everything that Photoshop has. It has most the features of both of those programs, as long as the feature is useful for a Web graphics designer. For pure photo editing Photoshop has the edge; for pure illustration, Illustrator has the edge. Both Photoshop and Illustrator support color profiles and other features important for print that Fireworks does not. All are good programs, but there are reasons to prefer one over the other depending on what kind of graphics you need to create or work with and what your intended use of the work is. (But any of them will be superior to PowerPoint! )
    I'm not sure I can unravel the mystery with the text box resizing.  I suspect theres an option selected.  Knowing it can be done is enough for me to do some homework.
    Maybe...don't think of text boxes at all. You have text objects. The object has a bounding box that is determined by the underlying definition of the font, but it isn't in a text box. (Sometimes swooshs will extend beyond the defining box of a character in the font, but that is another issue). The bounding box for the text object is similar to the bounding box of a circle or a star or an irregular shape. There's a reference box for the dimensions, but the text is not inside some other independent container.
    To resize, select the text object and change the font size either using the Properties palette or using the scale tool to drag on a corner of the scaling outline (different from the bounding box, and I don't know why, sorry).
    I think that,with Illustrator, you can define text boxes (or other shapes) and fill them with text. *searches* Ah.. Like these: http://school.tatoland.com/illustrator/aitype.html

  • Counting words in a text widget

    Hi,
    Is there a way I can count the number of words in a text box widget?  I realise that means counting the number of words in the attached variable - but can I do this?
    I have tried playing with Javascript (about which I know nothing)
    I put the script below into the script window for a button, but nothing seems to happen!
    Test=Q5WidgetAnswer.split(" ").length-1;
    document.write(Test);
    I want to check for three words in an answer and if there are only two, or four, warn that there are Three answers.
    Would be grateful for any help!

    After much heartache I solved the issue.
    The code needed to be as follows:
    var objCP = document.Captivate;
    var Answer = objCP.cpEIGetValue('WidgetAnswer');
    var Words;
    if(Answer ==  ''){   /* tests for empty answer */
      Words=0;
    alert("Fred")
    else {
    Words = Answer.replace(/[^ ]/g,'').length+1;    /* counts the number of spaces in answer */
    Where objCP can be any name you want, and cpEISetValue and cpEIGetValue are special Captivate functions
    /* and */ enclose a comment
