Resize APEX Application to the Browser

Hello All,
I'm working on a project using Oracle APEX. the pages, pictures and regions of the project looks fine on my computer but when I try to browses the application from different computers with different web browsers and screen sizes the application start to look bad and unordered. I have read about something to resize the website based on the web browser but I'm not sure how to implement this in APEX. My knowledge about this issue is not very good so any replies or suggestions will help.

I used w3schools tutorial and examples during my study and I have already published a static web site before. I think the issue of resizing the web page is slightly different in APEX. To but my question in more specific words kindly see my application http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=25099:1
As you can see I have a set of pictures at the bottom of the home page. it appear in on line in my PC but when I browse it from different computer the pictures appear in 2 lines and I have to zoom out to fix it.
So I wondering if there are some instruction or help about to resize or to avoid this kind of problems in APEX

I cannot move, resize, minimize, or close the browser window despite everything inside the window still working.

I don't know what details are needed so I'll just rattle off anything that I can think of.
I am running an Asus laptop with windows 7. I have never had an issue with firefox in the past (beyond the usual freezing and some obvious issues with pop up ads that are par for the course with firefox since adblocker never does what it says.... not really. Lets be honest.) I am using Avast for my virus protection and it is also up to date.
My issue started about an hour ago when firefox stopped responding. The video I had playing kept going but I could not interact with anything. Assuming the program froze for the billionth time that week I rebooted it. This has always solved freezing issues in the past. Now, however, firefox is doing something new.
I can access the menus and almost everything on the window itself except for the minimize/maximize/close buttons, I cannot move the window at all, and I cannot manually resize it. I have also noticed that although videos will play, I can only click on their buttons if there is another smaller window overtop of firefox. The video controls will only appear that way and when I click them firefox naturally comes to the front and the video responds with the button I used but the buttons are gone again and I cannot resume playing without the smaller window back in front to make the buttons show again.
It's as if half of firefox is frozen while the other half is still running somehow.
I have no themes that could be causing this. Literally none. I only use firefox for the things that can no longer be opened in Opera so I have no need for any theme beyond default. The only addons I installed on purpose were adblockers (lord knows why. they don't DO anything.) though several other random things seem to have been installed over time to aid in one thing or another. Various plugins and players and versions of java, that sort of thing. But I have everything (and i mean EVERYTHING) in the addon menu disabled.
I have tried booting it up in safe mode (the program, not windows) and the problem is still there except now it won't show the menu bar at all unless I press the alt key first and even then it wont let me actually click on anything in the menu bar. When I try the whole bar vanishes. I had to close firefox with the task manager.
Rebooting will fix the issue for about 15 seconds before it all comes back.
Any attempts at updating have failed as it says I am already up to date on everything so I don't know what its issue is.
It's not an urgent issue right now as most of what i need to do can be done on the half screen window I am using, but some of my sites have buttons that literally vanish in anything but full screen and I imagine that this will be a much greater annoyance within a few days.

After following all the instructions given, I poked around safe websites as suggested. I am not sure why this step was needed, as websites functioned rather normally before I came here but I did it anyways and found that the websites still work the same as they did. I can still do everything I used to be able to do. I see no change in the function of the websites.
However, I still cannot resize, close, or move the browser window. I don't know if Netflix is a safe site or not (too many conflicting opinions on that one from the masses) so I don't know if the issue with the vanishing buttons is still there, but all the issues I had with the browser window itself is still there.
Even in safe mode the browsers three window control buttons on the top right refuse to let me use them and the window itself will refuse to be moved around.

Integrate an Apex Application with the E-Business Suite 11i

I'm currently working to get connected to APEX (Application Express 3.2.1.00.11) using an E-Business Suite 11i form function then using the ICX cookie.
I'm using a document created by Rod West(consultant at Cabot Consulting) to help me doing this connection.

I always have errors when I try to get connected using the method suggested in the document.
The error I have received is :

This error seems to come from wfa_sec.getsession(:P101_USERNAME) used in the Before Header process of the login page(Page101).

I have done a "GRANT EXECUTE ON apps.WFA_SEC" to my APEX Schema, so the APEX Schema should have access to everything used by the package... I have tried to "GRANT EXECUTE ON" ICX_SESSIONS but I still have the same error...
Do I need to do other "GRANT" ? Have you experienced the same problem ?

Yes, I have already created synonyms but I still got the same errors...the error seems to be related to a table used in the package icx_sec...I have tried to grant and create synonym for tables icx_transactions and icx_sessions but I still got the error. Any ideas ?
I have also tried to use the method (OWA_COOKIE.send) suggested in the 2007 version of the Rod West's document (the method you mentionned in the thread) and I'm able to get connected to my APEX application using the E-Business Menu but I have an intermittent problem with this method.. In fact, some days I'm able to get connected to APEX at the first try but some days I received "Invalid Login Credentials" at the first try and at the second try I get connected...And we haven't found any reasons yet for the intermittent "Invalid Login Credentials" ?
Have you experienced the same intermittent problem on your side ?

Help Application Help the browser opens but getting err msg

when we select Help -> Application Help ,the browser opens but we get
the message that 'Page cannot be displayed'for some transaction codes,
not for all transaction codes.For eg.sm50,PA20,PPOME.
Please help me .

But My question is help->application help browser is displaying for other t.codes like ST22,sm21 etc. but it is not opening for sm50 ,PA20...in a system.
SR13 configuration setting is for all t.codes whereas we got error msg 'page cannot be displayed ' for some t.codes not for all.
Please help me on this.

Can multiple APEX application use the same parsing schema?

Hi,
I have 4.2 APEX thru pl/sql Gatewat, 11gr2 DB and using theme 24.
Due to the APEX limitation for version control I would be splitting 1 big ERP applications into 24 different APEX applications and each application would be considered as 1 unit for version control.
I have about 800 tables and I would assume that all of these would need to be stored in 1 schema since a lot of these table are linked thru FK.
Can I have multiple APEX APPS using the same parsing schema? or is there a better way to do this?

Hi,
Multiple applications can have same (one) parsing schema.
You can test that on e.g. apex.oracle.com, where normally you have only one schema and you create multiple applications and all use that same schema.

Export Apex application from the command line and eliminate Apex

I had a problem to migrate version 4.0.2 to 4.1 Apex, and I can not access to Apex. I open a Thread with the problem but so far I have no answers.
Given that Apex is not working, I can think to do the following:
---Export applications that are currently installed in Apex
---Totally eliminate the apex and do a new install
Does anyone know if this is a viable option?
If Yes, what package I have to run to make the export of applications?
How do I completely remove the current installation of Apex? And leave prepared the database for a new installation from scratch, the version of Oracle we use is 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0.
If someone can give me any advice would be very grateful.

Firefox does not put the file extension ".exe" onto the firefox application, and the browser will not open.

I downloaded firefox 3.6.6 from the website, followed the install directions and the browser does not open. I opened the task manager and firefox.exe was not in the process list. Locating the target using properties from the desktop icon if found that the application file did not have the ".exe" extension that it showed in the icon field for location. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with the same result. I am running windows XP Media Center Version 2002 service pack 3.

This would usually only happen if the originals were .doc, .dot, .docm, .dotx or .dotm files and someone changed their extensions. Does your Office installation open docx files created in Word 2013? If not, perhaps the Office installation is
faulty. In that case, try repairing the Office installation (via Programs & Features > Microsoft Office > Change in the Windows Control Panel).

SSO for multiple APEX applications on the same instance

Hi All,
We have an APEX instance with 2 applications configured in 2 workspaces.
The instance is already configured to use SSO. I have followed thee Metalink note #562807.1 to do the SSO wiring.
We are planning to incorporate SSO authentication for both the applications.
Also planning to use different URLs (2 aliases for the server) for the applications.
eg:-
App1 will be using http://app1.us.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:10
App2 will be using http://app2.us.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=200:10
Is it possible to register SSO on 2 URLs for the same instance?
Can I execute regapp.sql multiple times on the same instance?
Please advice me.

Your applications in different workspaces will not be able to share sessions but you will probably get the single-sign-on behavior you need.

Installing an AIR application from the browser

I am installing an application using a custom badge.
Is there any documentation on air.swf?
After air.installApplication() is called is there anyway to know what happens, i.e. some event to listen to.
How can I know when installation is complete or if it fails due to an error.
Currently the web page stops at starting to install and I would like it to be a bit more professional so it can either reflect any error or show the installation is complete.

Problem opening an application deployed in WAS6.40 from the browser

Hello friends!
                I developed an application using JBoss-4.0.2. I got the .ear file from there and deployed it in WAS6.40 using "Deploy Tool".I am new to all this. I followed the following steps:-
1.      Opened the deploy tool and created a new project with .dlp extension.
2.In the Deployer tab did the following:-
       1.      Chose Deploy -> EAR -> Load EAR. The File Chooser Window appeared and from the file system, selected the EAR file I wanted to load.
       3.      The EAR file and all of its components appeared on the Deployer tab as a tree.
4. In the deployer tab clicked on "connect" symbol in the tool bar and entered the following details:-
username - admin
password - *****
host - localhost
port - 50004
5.In the deployer tab Selected the ear file node which is loaded.
6.In the right pane, chose context tab.
7.Set the context root for the war files and pressed modify button.
8.Then with a right click on the loaded ear node in the left pane,selected "deployment"-->"deploy ear" from the context menu.
9.I got a message "Deployed Successfully" and then a message "Start the application y/n".
11.I Chose yes.
12.It gave the message "Application started successfuly". But no browser is opened.
13.So, i tried to open it from the browser using the URL "http://localhost:50000/<context-root>/"
But it is giving the following error:-
404 resource Not Found
The requested resource c:/usr/......./...jsp not found.
I verified the directory where the files are being deployed in the WAS (i.e in C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\)
The file is present.
What is the problem with my procedure?
Why am I unable to view the application in the browser?
Please tell me if there is any thing else to do.
Also suggest me if there is any other tool in Netweaver that fulfills my requirement apart from "Deploy Tool".
Any kind of help in this regard would be great.Please reply me soon.

How do I stop text from resizing to the size of the browser window

Hello there,
I am using a DW CS3 template that has a sidebar div and a
main content div - the text in the main content div keeps resizing
to the size of the browser window - I don't want the text to resize
if I make the browser window smaller - I want it to remain the
same. I am trying to float the text right and input a width but
this is not working for me. What am I doing wrong?

Can we select a particular area in the browser using Flex?

application in the browser using Flex and generate that area into a

Yes, you should google Flex screenshot bitmap, there are a
number of examples. As far as 'selecting' one of the examples may
show this, but you can just use a Canvas or similar for the box
drawing (set background transparent, and just use the borders, and
resize the canvas on mouse events). Otherwise you can do the
Graphics sorite drawing by hand or use something like Degrafa for
fancier, or look up quasimodo marching ants for an animated
selection technique.

Images fail to load into the browser

Hello,
Sometimes images fail to load into the browser (they show up as a red "X"). Does anyone know why? Refreshing often loads them correctly, but then a different image will not load (and show a red "X").

Thank you very much for your help on this. I am now using a faster computer and the problem no longer happens. I did understand your suggestion - I was brainstorming ideas to make changes to APEX to account for slow computers, or computers without enough memory. To somehow guarantee a level of service for APEX applications at the end user's browser. Similar to how Oracle Enterprise manager can help guarantee certain SLAs for J2EE web applications, by monitoring performance from the browser all the way back to the disk. (I'm not sure if it 100% can do this today, but I believe this is the direct it is headed).
Well, I suppose if everyone uses fast computers this is no longer an issue. But, sometimes fast computers are hard to come by.

Open Apex page from a non-apex application

Hello,
I'm calling an Apex page from another (non Apex) application. The way it works is that you click on a map and a browser window is opened with a Apex data entry form. This way you can edit information about the object you clicked on in the map.
I got this working but what I'm trying to avoid is that you have to enter your logon credentials every time. I can't provide a session ID in the URL from the other application.
Is this possible at all?

Page 1 and 2 are normal, but rather empty, pages. Page 3 is the public page with the redirect proces.
First login (demo/demo_12) and notice the session ID.
Then try to redirect to page 2 through page 3
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=9947:3::2
You get the login page again with a new Session ID.
Once you logon you get redirected to page 2 and have joined the previous session.
Is this the expected behaviour of your example? I was trying to get rid of the login screen the second time. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

APEX Application behaviour in a RAC setup

Caveat first: I'm pretty new to Oracle RAC and just looking into it as an option. We have an APEX application currently running in Oracle 11gR2 single node currently and are considering HA for this.
My question is: What would be the expected behaviour seen by a User of an APEX application, in the event of a node failure, when running with an OHS / RAC configuration? Will they get "transparent fail-over" and see nothing or will they see an error?
I appreciate I could post in the APEX forum, but feel that is probably more of a development forum and possibly someone here has had to look at things at this level.
I have read what I think may be the definitive reference for this:

but while it covers most of what I want I don't believe I have found an answer to my question
This states:
"The Transparent Application Failover (TAF) feature of Oracle Net Services is a runtime failover for high-availability environments. It enables client applications to automatically reconnect to the database if the connection fails and, optionally, resume a SELECT statement that was in progress. The reconnection happens automatically from within the Oracle Call Interface (OCI) library. For applications that do insert, update or delete transactions, the application must trap the error when the failure occurs, rollback the transaction, and then resubmit. If the application is not written to be TAF aware, the session will get disconnected."
However (as I understand it) APEX runs in the database and would fail with the database, it isn't a typical "client application" connecting to Oracle via a TAF aware connection pool - it is essentially a large pl/sql package and TAF only covers SELECT statements not packages.
May be I'm over-reading this and it's simpler than that: APEX/Mod_plsql might just handle it?
- APEX User/HTTP session state is stored in database APEX: Understanding session state which is available on other nodes
- Mod_plsql in OHS can detect the error returning and reissues the request to good server and APEX on that instance can retrieve Users/HTTP state and process the request (APEX/RAC doc states mod_plsql can see an error from database and cleanup connection up and form a new connection, but not that it will retry the request for the client into other APEX/DB node).
I'm really just after a (transparent/non-transparent) statement based on experience, but an outline of how the components behave would be useful.
