Resource Permission stored in DB

Hi Everyone
My customer is using a forms application that he needs to migrate to ADF.
The new application should reuse the existing tables, PL/SQL APIs to such an extent that the old forms application should be available at the same time with the new ADF application as the existing forms will be gradually migrated to ADF over a longer period of time.
In this application there is one menu which is unique. Customer has a table AUTHORISATION to store the permissions on some menu entries (submenu or executable) . Each executable menu entry has a form (fmb) and some columns (with possible values 0 or 1) for the actions allowed on that form:
VIEW - 1 if view action is allowed, 0 if not
CREATE - the same
UPDATE - the same
DELETE - the same
Although he is aware that this is not a very strong security model as users can connect to sqlplus and update the table manually, customer would like to keep this table and to continue using that even in ADF, and not to use Weblogic security provider to manage roles (using SQLAuthenticator for example) in the application as this would be too tedious for him. To make the problem more complicated users can login to the application and then choose the DB they wish to connect to, so this AUTHORISATION table is specific to each DB instance. So there are multiple AUTHORISATION tables (one table in each DB instance), but the user_id/username is the same in all of these tables.
In the ADF application, each form will be equivalent to a taskflow where the same operations would be allowed in page fragments. For example in the taskflow there will be a page fragment to display a list of records, another to display a detail of a record, another that allows to create a new record and so on. The access to the taskflow and within the taskflow needs to be driven by the same table. One taskflow will appear in the menu only once, that is for sure.
I have considered using a resource permission to define a logical entity on a menu entry, and then using expressions such as
#{securityContext.userGrantedResource
['resourceName=myPanel1;
resourceType=myLayoutPanel;
action=myAction']}
to control the access/navigation in the application. However I find it quite hard to adapt is to the current situation. I have build the necessary components so I can extract all the contents of this table and wrap it inside a sessionScope managed bean so that the access to these permissions to be available from anywhere within the user session.I can code the hard way in the application to control access and navigation(by example creating a generic pageFlow managed bean for each taskflow that will have boolean properties for each operation and this managed bean will be initialized at the beginning of the taskflow, then use this managed bean in EL expressions to control the permissions to the actions). There will be a team of developers that willl build each taskflow and there are many taskflows which follows exactly the same pattern (list of records->details/create/delete).I need to make sure there is a easy way to encapsulate all this using security EL if possible so that each developer should work in a consistent manner based on a taskflow template for example that they need to follow/implement.
I am using JDev version 11.1.2.2
Not sure if my approach is the right one, or anyone has better ideas. Please advise.
Thank you in advance

Hi
Thanks Peter for the helpful hints. I am also using one page, main.jsf (in fact there is a taskflow with several method calls to perform some initialization after login and at the end user end up in the same page). I am also using dynamic tabs pattern to show all the taskflows in regions. I have not yet begun the design of the templates ( this is next on my list once I finish designing the security/permission layer), but your experience is really helpful as it very much ressembles what I have. This should help me a lot to design these CRUD taskflows in the same manner as forms.
For view permission and navigation I plan to implement this in the custom NavigationHandler class specified in faces-config.xml. As for the CRUD operations within the taskflow or I plan on using a router activity or a method call activity that would act like a router in order to encapsulate more complex logic if necessary (Haven't decided yet). The real challenge is when the CRUD operations are called from another taskflow opened in another tab. For example, from Departments taskflow to try and add a new employee which is in another taskflow. I guess the employee taskflow will need to have a parameter in order to define the operations to be performed in this taskflow (and use this parameter in a router activity for example) and if the operation is allowed the proper page/fragment for the creation would be shown in the new tab. Still a lot of ideas to put in practice and I need to think ahead of some potential problems in order to make everyone's life easier afterwards :-)
Kind regards

  • Resource permission to view himself only in resource center

    Hi All,
    I have a query regarding resource permission. My scenario is how a resource can view/edit only his attributes in the resource center.
    I have given Team Member permission and what other permission i need to apply to execute this scenario.
    Thanks
    Abbas Khan

    Hello,
    Depending on what category you have added to the Team Member group, lets assume "My Tasks". For the My Tasks category ensure that in the resources section you select "Only include the selected resources:" then "The User is the resource" on the
    category. Make sure the category gives them access to at least one resource center view. Now on the Team Member group, select the My Task category (or the category you are using) in the categories section. In the permissions that become enabled ensure "Edit
    Enterprise Resource Data" and "View Enterprise Resource Data" are enabled. That should be it.

  • Project 2013 with Shared Resources(resource pool) stored in O365 SharePoint

    I am trying to use both a resource pool and storing all projects files in Office 365 document library. I have 3 project files, one with resources only and 2 for project scheduling. If I store the files on the local machine, when I open both resource project
    and the task project and use shared resources, it works as expected.
    I then copied the project files to a SharePoint library and attempt to do the same thing, project does not seem to know that there are multiple project files open and the shared resource option is disabled.
    How does project determine that multiple project files are open to enable the resource pool feature?  I have tried faking it out my mapping a drive letter, etc to the SharePoint library.   Does project/WebDAV have issues?

    Yep I'm pretty sure that resource pools and linked master files don't work with SharePoint. Pools and linked masters should only ever be very carefully used on local drives (physically within same building) as the links use DDE (developed way before SharePoint
    was even thought of) which are very fragile and prone to file corruptions.

  • Cross Forrest Resources Permission Issue

    Hi, I am facing an odd issue before I describe the issue here is the structure:
    we have two forests with two domains. Domain A is in forest A and domain B is forest B. two way trust is established between both forests. we recently upgraded forest A to 2008R2 functional level forest B we have added 2008R2 domain controller but its still
    on 2003R2 functional level. after the upgrade the recourses some of the resources on some servers of domain A was not accessable by domain B as it would give 'you might not have permission, there is no logon server available' error. but this was only to some
    server shares while some other were just being accessed fine. sometimes if you restart the server the issue is being resolved  for maybe another 24 hours the shares are accessible just fine but then after a day or two the issue appears again.

  • How do I get the value of a resource property stored in the user object?

    I need a way to get to the myflag property on the resources in an object
    I have been trying to get to it by first getting the user object...
    but how can I get to the properties them self?

  • OIM resource permission configuration

    Hello,
    We are required to configure a user groups that should be able to modify user profile and resource A while restricting modifications on resource B.
    If a member of this group makes a modification to the user attribute that would trigger access policy and subsequently changes child table in resource B, OIM fails to update the user since the user has no pinsert ermission for resource B (Error evaluating access policy)..
    Is there a solution for this problem?
    Thanks

    Access policies are mostly for provisioning, you're talking about delegated administration where the delegated admin is allowed to manage resource A but not resource B. This requires customization in both 9.1 and 11g. In 11g there's an authorization policy concept that can be used along with organizations but it's still not a good fit for what you're trying to do. Anyway you can implement this by checking the user's permissions against your own (custom) authorization model. Search the forum, this has come up before.

  • Resource permission

    Hi,
    I have just set-up a resource (a meeting room) with automatic acceptance/decline.
    However, I would like to add one delegate to be able to go into the calendar and make amendments e.g. move around or cancel meetings.
    I have watch a video online and their example shows a mailbox delegation option within the resource settings, however, i cannot see this option.
    How do I go about adding a user to administrate the resource.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    From your description, you want to set a delegate on a resource mailbox. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
    You can use the following cmdlet to set a delegate on a resource mailbox:
    Set-CalendarProcessing -Identity "xxx" -ResourceDelegates "the primary SMTP address of the user you want to set as the delegate"
    For more information, here is an article for your reference.

  • Master Projects, Subprojects, Resource Pool

    I have reviewed the previous threads and have not found a good match with my issue.  Here goes.
    I have a project plan (Plan1) stored on OneDrive.  I have a second plan that is my resource pool stored in the same location.  I open both plans by clicking on them in OneDrive.  When I go into Plan1, I go to Resource Pool -> Share Resources.
    The pop-up box comes up with the 'Use Own Resources' selected.  The other option of 'Use Resources (requires at least one open resource pool)' is greyed out.  How do I get it such that I can select the second option and enter the name of my resource
    pool.
    The resource pool is a .mpp file that has no tasks and it has about 70 resources defined.  Is there something I must toggle to show that it is a resource pool file?
    I am using MS Project 2013 Professional.  I am not using Project Server or PWA.
    Thanks in advance for your thoughts and assistance!
    Hillary
    Clarification:  I have both plans (which are both on OneDrive) opened at the same time - and the Plan1 file does not recognize the the other file (pool) as a potential candidate for a resource pool.
    Clarification #2:  When I copy the resource pool to my desktop, and then open it, Plan1 (on OneDrive) is able to see the resource pool and share it...

    HRDavidson,
    Convolved it is and you are also setting yourself up for corruption as I've indicated in my initial response. This is what I suggest. Since each element of the overall structure (i.e. resource pool, sharer files, master file, network, multi-user environment)
    contributes to the probability of corruption, your best chance for minimizing corruption is to eliminate and/or control each element.
    The ideal configuration is for all files to be resident on a local drive with one person in control but that probably isn't going to work in your scenario. However, there are some things you can do. First, I would not maintain a dynamic master file. You
    can still see the whole plan with all 6 individual projects whenever you need by creating a static master (i.e. uncheck the "link to project" option in the lower right corner of the Insert Project window). That will produce a new single file that
    is a snapshot in time of all the individual projects. The main advantage is that it does not create an additional link structure. Second, develop a set of groundrules on file maintenance and make sure all users are trained. The basic groundrules are: never
    move, rename, replace, or save off any files in the structure. You may wish to add other rules concerning what users can and cannot change with regard to data.
    Using the above approach you will still have a resource pool/sharer file linked structure on a network and it will still be prone to corruption but your chances for success will be increased. If you want to totally eliminate, (although nothing is really
    "total"), the chance of corruption, combine the whole structure into a single file with either one person in charge or a defined set of access rules (e.g. time) for each user. Filtering, grouping or other techniques can facilitate easier maintenance
    by each user.
    The other option of course is to move to Project Server.
    Those are my thoughts. Perhaps Dale and Rod will drop in with their comments.

  • EPS-file: How to preserve resource fork when moving file to Linux

    Hi!
    We have a following problem on our DAM system:
    When saving an EPS-file from Photoshop CS2 on 10.4 with Machintosh preview we can´t transfer the file to Linux DAM system without losing the preview picture. Apparently this is because the PICT preview file is in resource fork of the file and Linux doesn´t understand anything about those.
    The problem occurs only with Freehand MX when using these un-"resource forked" files. Then using EPS with TIFF-preview we get a black background if cut path is used in the image so that´s not a proper solution.
    Can ANYONE point me a possible solution: how can I transfer Macintosh files on Linux without losing resource forks??
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Control-click on the file and choose the Create
    Archive of "blah" item in the menu that pops up.
    This creates a file called "blah.zip", which has
    been compressed in such a way that it can be safely
    stored on non-Mac systems. When it is de-archived
    on another Mac OS X system (by double-clicking it),
    the file should be intact. (Note that third-party
    apps for decoding zip files may not properly restore
    the resource fork, as the Mac's archive function
    creates a zip archive with the resource contents
    stored in a special way, which other unzip utilities
    will just read as another file (or folder, don't
    recall which).
    Thanks but I should have been more precise:
    What I meant was that is there any tool for Linux to handle resource forks without archiving/compressing the file?
    Our DAM generates preview image for the EPS automatically so it can´t be inside compressed file.

  • How to use resource servlet ?

    Hi all,
    Does any body know know how to use resource servlet to share resources (xsd, wsdl etc) in OSB ? Kindly provid eme witht the steps
    Thank you.

    Hi Eric,
    We can share the resource in the following way, but unfortunately OEPE doesnt accept http urls in schemaLocation arrtibute
    How can I get the WSDL/Policy/MFL/Schema/Proxy via HTTP?
    You can retrieve many of the resource types directly from the OSB server by using HTTP instead
    of needing to use the service bus console. The general pattern for the URL is as follows:
    http://[hostname]:[port]/sbresource?[Resource Type]/[Project Name]/[Resource Name]
    CHAPTER 18 ■ HOW DO I . . . ? 477
    The [Resource Type] section of the URL may be any one of the following values:
    • BIZ
    • MFL
    • POLICY
    • PROXY
    • SCHEMA
    • WSDL
    The URL must be UTF-8 encoded. If the resource is stored in a directory, then the directory
    structure needs to be declared explicitly in the URL also.
    For example, in the Hello World project in Chapter 4 of this book, we defined aWSDL resource
    in the WSDL folder of the project. The name of that WSDL resource is set to HelloWorld. To retrieve
    this WSDL, you would use the following URL:
    http://localhost:7001/sbresource?WSDL/Hello+World/WSDL/HelloWorld

  • Get the latest approved version of a content management resource

    Hi I am using EP 6 with Content management.
    I my application I need to get resources form content management, approval process is enabled for the content items.
    I use this code
    RID rid = RID.getRID(path);
              if (rid != null) {
                   try {
                        resource = rf.getResource(rid, context);
    } catch (ResourceException e1) {
         //errorhandling
    where rf is a com.sapportals.wcm.repository.IResourceFactory
    created from a service user and a service context
    which work fine, When the resource has been approved.
    however if I change the specified content Item and do not approve it, the above code returns null as resource.
    I would expect the api to return the latest approved version of the resource.
    Have I misunderstood soemthing here or should I use another API?

    I solved my problem...
    first of all.
    Versioning was enabled for the folder but apparently it didnt work so i disabled it and enabled it again. Then I got the correct reource instead of null.
    second thing
    later in mycode I used this to get the path of the resource
    resource.getRID().getPath();
    but this gives the path to where the version of the document can be found... something like /documents/~System/xx/xxxxx/xxxx
    where x is numbers
    after doing a little debugging I found out that
    resource.getAccessRID().getPath()
    returns the path to where in CM the resource is stored.
    I hope My experience here can help others.
    I am glad that I solved my problem, but I find it extremely worrying that some settings in CM apparently stops working without any apparent reason.
    We have experienced this with other properties like Manual Ordering, Approval process, have any one else had these problems and found the cause then I would like to hear about it

  • CTM Planning: How to Handle Min Lot Size Daily Resource Capacity?

    Hello,
    I am facing a situation where the Min Lot Size values require more than a days capacity of the Resource.
    Finite Planning CTM is skipping all demands.
    Example:
    Daily Resource Availability = 24 Hrs,
    Capacity Consumption per PPM = 1000 Kgs / 1 Hour.
    Min Lot Size =  50,000 Kgs
    Capacity requirement for the 50,000 Kgs = 50 Hrs
    Is there a way CTM can plan this?
    Thanks,
    Ran

    Yes the time buckets in CTM profile has nothing to do with this limitation...
    Nor does the infinite/finite setting.
    Basically its a limitation of how the resources are stored in livecache.
    You can not exceed the capacity for which the resource is stored...
    The only workaround is to define the resourcde in weekly time buckets by manually defining a capacity profile.
    I don't like this as every order will take a week...
    I am not aware of any other workaround...
    I have seen other clients take out the minimum lot size for SNP, then when cif transfer the order back to R/3, it is combined to 1 large order...

  • What happened to Zotero? It disappeared when you upgraded my Firefox (Mac) and I don't want to download a new version because I would lose so much information I had stored in it.

    I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8, and just upgraded firefox to 8.0.1.
    I have used Zotera for several years and had lots of resource information stored in it. I need it for a current project, but it is no longer showing up in Firefox since the upgrade.

    Thanks for the tip, adam.smith. The Zotero link said to check the add0ns and extensions in Firefox, which says: Zotero is incompatible with Firefox 8.0.1.
    That' a surprise, and very disappointing. I'd like to go back to the previous version of Firefox - is that possible?

    Would you please elaborate on what exactly are you going to do? What objects are you trying to update:
    1. "Resources" - objects stored in IdM repository describing access to external systems, i.e.host, port, username etc.

  • WD Additional Resources

    Hello,
    my WD application requires additional configuration resources, how can I access them in the run-time?
    I've got a solution for the problem, but it seems a bit strange for me, may be there is a better way?
    So the resources are stored in the DC in
    ./src/mimes/Components/<WDApplication package+Name>/*.xml
         String confPath = "<vendor>/<dc name with '~'-s>/Components/<WDApplication package+Name>/" + xxx.xml;
         String url = WDURLGenerator.getResourcePath(confPath);
         myMsgMgr.reportSuccess("Configuration url: " + url + ", path: " + confPath);
         Document dom = null;
         try {
              dom = myXMLHelper.parseXML(url);
              myMsgMgr.reportSuccess("Successfully parsed");
         } catch (XMLException e) {
              myMsgMgr.reportException("Unable to parse configuration file " + url, true);
              return;
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards,
    Nick

    I don't like these notions of deployable object/part, they are not intuitive IMHO.
    You can access them using the IWDComponent interface, see https://media.sdn.sap.com/javadocs/NW04/SP12/webdynpro/com/sap/tc/webdynpro/progmodel/api/IWDComponent.html#getDeployableObjectPart()
