Response code is always returnd as -1
url = new URL(urlString);
HttpURLConnection httpConnection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
httpConnection.setDoInput(true);
httpConnection.connect();
httpConnection.getHeaderFields();
int responsecode = httpConnection.getResponseCode();
if (responsecode == HttpURLConnection.HTTP_NOT_MODIFIED) {
....//fetch from cache
else {
....// save to cache
}In the above snippet the responsecode is always returned as -1. But the data returned in the response is properly read. Also the headers are shown null. But they are getting saved.
On checking with TCP tool, I found that the server is actually returning the response code and headers properly.
Am I missing any configuration or setting?
I don't know that you've actually obtained an HTTP response at that point: maybe you are getting the initial value. I would do some I/O or get an actual header value before trying the response code.

How to get the Response Code when a URL is launched from Web Dynpro
Hello Experts,
I have a Web Dynpro Application in which in one of its views i have an IFrame UI element in which i will show a resource stored somewhere ..
But before showing it i want to check if the resource actually exists. For this i have to check the HTTP Response code from Web Dynpro Application without setting it in the Iframe..
I am using the following code to get the Response Code:
try{
URL url = new URL("Some Url");
HttpURLConnection.setFollowRedirects(false);
HttpURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
connection.connect();
wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Response code ="+connection.getResponseCode());
}catch(Exception e){
wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Exception");
Now the Problem is whatever response Code occurs 403 (for No Proper Authorization), 404 (for Resource not found) etc..
i always get Response Code= 500 (which is for Internal Server Error) shown in the messgae i have printed.
Please let me know the correct way of getting the Response Code from Web Dynpro.
Also my resource is lying on a SAP Portal 6.4
Best Regards

I have this code for a long time and it always works:
URL url = new URL("http://www.infoamistades.net/load.do");
URLConnection urlConnection = null;
urlConnection = url.openConnection();
urlConnection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type","text/html; charset=utf-8");
urlConnection.setRequestProperty("Accept-Charset","utf-8");
BufferedReader bin = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(urlConnection.getInputStream(),"utf-8"));
but....suddenly I always have the java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 (?!?!?)
using this URL works properly
URL url = new URL("http://www.infoamistades.net/");
but now it doesn't works with URL url = new URL("http://www.infoamistades.net/load.do");
and putting thia addrees to the browser it works, of course..
no changes at the server, not firewalls.. (?!?!)
thanks,Hi,
Actually I am also having exactly same problem that you mentioned, I am new to the world of servlets. I could not get what you mean by "put variable in the request" Please tell me exactly what to do to solve this problem.

Error:unknown error has occured;server returned http response code :500
Hi,
I deployed one custom action block on 12.0 server.
It creates a pdf doc and saves it under c:\sample on MII server.
But when I run the action block in a trax, an error was logged: unknown error has occurred; server returned http response code :500 <server URL>
Need immediate help on this.
ThanksDoes the failure occur within the action, and if so can you identify where? It is always a good idea to put some logging at the debug level in your actions to help identify exactly where a failure is occuring.

Sharepoint webservice call - Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized.
Hello,
when I try to call a webservice provided by Sharepoint Services 3.0 I always get the following:
InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized. The requested URL was:"http://[myserver]/_vti_bin/dws.asmx?WSDL, used user to connect: [myuser]"
That myuser was given in Netweaver Administrator in the SOA Management -> Destination Template Management as "HTTP authentication - user id/passwort (basic). The destination type was set to WSDL with that URL.
Password I cheked several times. When I call this URL in a browser I can access with that user...
Any idea whats wrong or what I have to change?
Thx in advance,
FrankHi,
Could you check the proxy settings on the engine? It could be seen in the NetWeaverAdministrator -> SOA Management -> Global Settings.
The assumption is that the request to wsdl goes (does not go) via proxy. Could the check what is the expected behavior.
A second assumption that comes to my mind is to double-check the password typing. It could be that something is mis typed.
A third assumption is is it certian that the web service WSDL expect basic authentication? It could be protected with other mechanisms which would result in the same result.

Hi expert,
hcb-msap59 (PI system) & hcb-msap49 (ecc system)
When I try calling the ws navigator with this wsdl: http://hcb-msap49.res.no.enterdir.com:8016/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/sdef_ECC_DOCUMENTCRTRC1/wsdl11/ws_policy/document?sap-client=101
it gives error :

Check, whether the URL is correct, and the Web Service that you are requesting is up and running
In http://hcb-msap49.res.no.enterdir.com:8016/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appl_soap_management?sap-language=EN and go to technical configuration, system global settings, access information j2ee server, the hostname and port is of PI system.
Any idea why Im getting the error? If I click on http://hcb-msap49.res.no.enterdir.com:8016/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/sdef_ECC_DOCUMENTCRTRC1/wsdl11/ws_policy/document?sap-client=101 the sire is opening.
Any idea why I cant open it from ws navigator of my PI system?
Thanks.
Regards,
ThavaHi,
Can you access that URL when you paste it into your browser? You don't need to configure system global settings unless you want to go to PI's navigator automatically - you can always copy & paste the link after opening the wsnavigator in PI yourself as well. If you can access the link, kindly check your network & proxy setup.

SUHello Christian,
I put the same url in the browser as you said and it shows an error:
"Unexpected error: Incorrect value: Location URL for subject IF " - "Incorrect value: Location URL for subject IF :SupplierBasicDataByIDQueryResponse_In not found".
I analyzed the url of the SR, it is,
http://XXXX:XXX/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/bndg_DF046A5091DCB8F1A0FD0017A4770400/wsdl11/binding/ws_policy/document?sap-client=400
But, if I change the word "binding" for "allinone" it works.
I have problems with this when I am working in Web Dynpro importing a web service model from the Service Registry (it always call the url - "with binding word").
Do you know how can I solve this?
Thanks
Regards

Adobe Print Form Error - Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized
Hi, I've just configured ADS on Netweaver 2004s. I've run through the config guide and everything works ok including the form generation test report FP_TEST_00 which outputs PDF without issue. I have two problems:
-When I run a "test connection" on the RFC destination 'ADS' using the ADSUSER for the login details, I get a 403 not authorized error. Changing this user to J2EE_ADMIN resolves the issue and I get a 302 redirect. I've tried adding other permissions to the ADSUSER without any luck.
-Running a report on the Portal under e.g. Executive Reporting and attempting to just right-click and hit "Print Version" results in a 401 error for request "http://hostXX:portXX/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document" exactly as per this thread: Re: Adobe Form Creation Error - Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized. However, I've double-checked all user details in Visual Administrator (ADS_AGENT) and on the ABAP stack side in su01 and sm59. I also tried changing the users to dialog with no effect. If I go directly to that URL and log in with ADSUSER I get a 403 not authorised error (using J2EE_ADMIN is again successful). I've noticed that in the http access log the HTTP protocol used is 1.1 when using the web browser and 1.0 when using the sm59 connection test. I've heard of problems with using HTTP/1.1, but when I change the options on IE8 to use HTTP/1.0, it changes for all other requests except the request for "http://hostXX:portXX/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document", which is still submitted as HTTP/1.1. Conversely, in sm59 if I specify that it should use HTTP/1.1 under Special Options, I can see from the access log that it is in fact still using HTTP/1.0. Could this be related to the 401 error code that I'm seeing?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
JohnI think I've ruled out the HTTP protocol version as being an issue here. However I may have found more useful information on the actual issue.
In the security log under usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\system I see a different message for the unsuccessful report PDF generation attempt to that of a direct query to the same URL with the same web browser, as below. The unsuccessful attempt appears to forget the ADSUSER credentials and resort to the default J2EE_GUEST which has no authorisations and therefore fails. The direct query doesn't lose the ADSUSER credentials and I think this is because it prompts for the user/password when needed. Does anyone know why this happens for a direct query to this URL but not for the PDF generation attempt?
Resulting logs from unsuccessful PDF generation attempt:

Can you Ignore Error Response Code in HttpUrlConnection?
I have a problem with a HttpUrlConnection object throwing an IOException when it gets an HTTP Error Response code. Especially when there is an actual response from the server sent back that has more details in it that are actually helpful.
I would like to just tell the HttpUrlConnection ot ignore HTTP error responses and just pass along the page or data that was returned instead. I need to handle this myself.
The reason if it matters, is I am sending SOAP Envelopes, and if the Web Service doesn't like it, it will send an HTTP 500 Response Code, but it also sends a response SOAP Envelope that tells me exactly what is wrong.
Right now to get this response I have to use a Sniffer, or worse since it is HTTPS (ssl) i have to use the jvm's SSL debug mode, and pull the response out of the hex code.
I couldn't find anything about this, so I am afraid I am SOL, just hoping that there might be an obscure "feature" or "property" that can deal with this, that I can't find.
** 10 Duke Dollars to first person to provide a solution that works **Just call the getErrorStream() method to read the error response. Eg.
HttpURLConnection conn = null;
try {
conn = (HttpURLConnection)
new URL("http://www.google.com/givemea404").openConnection();
} catch (Exception e) {
InputStream in = conn.getErrorStream();
int i = in.read();
while (i != -1) {
System.out.print((char) i);
i = in.read();

NevilleHTTP response code 502 means temporarily overloaded.
I would say that we have to check the deployment error on the weblogic server logs located at <Domain_Home>\servers\dupe\logs\dupe.log
Check for any errors like OutOfMemory etc OR any deployment failures.
If possible, try accessing the console at http://dupe:7031/console
Check if you are able to successfully deploy your application using the console.
From the error it looks like the "dupe" server might not be healthy. So, the log file would really help here to get clues into the root cause.

Hi,
We are facing the following error while trying to access the given Windows Azure Pack Public tenant API to query the virtual machines list along with network adaper details -
java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters&$top=10000&$skip=0
The response is proper when we access the following URL -
https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines
Only on adding the $expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters, url parameter we are getting the above error.
Where can we check for the error logs on the Azure Pack server ? We checked for the logs using Windows Event Viewer but did not find any for the public tenant API.
What should be the cause for such an error and how can we fix this to get the proper data?
Thanks in advance.Yes, we tried this, $top=10&$skip=0 works for the following url
https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$top=10&$skip=0
It is only when we add $expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters,
the server returns the mentioned error response -
URL for which the server returns the 500 error -
https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters&$top=10&$skip=0
Can
you point to the error logs for Windows Azure Pack and SPF ? -
Received HTTP response code 500 : Internal Server Error
Hi All,
In my scenario EANCOM to IDOC, I am getting an error in the sender communication channel (FILE Adapter). It is being picked up from the sender directory successfully but not reaching the XI box (no messages seen in SXMB_MONI).
The error in the runtime Workbench says the following:
Transmitting the message to endpoint http://gdrsap.nestle.com:50000/XIAxisAdapter/MessageServlet? using connection File_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Received HTTP response code 500 : Internal Server Error.
Regards,
ManoharHi Murli
error code 500 stands for Internal Server Error
This code is the default for an error condition when none of the other 5xx codes apply.
for more details on error code follow the link
http://www.web-cache.com/Writings/http-status-codes.html
you have to restart J2EE engine
steps to restart J2EE engine
1) run transaction SMICM
2) then in the tab administration => J2EE instance(local) =>send soft shutdown with restart
by this java engine will restart and will be up in 5-10 minutes and your problem will be solved

Received HTTP response code 500..
Hi All
Whenever i try a scenario with file adapter as the sender, i get the following error in the runtime workbench (message monitoring).
"Transmitting the message to endpoint http://USSAPVM7:8000/sap/xi/engine/entry?action=execute using connection AFW failed, due to: Received HTTP response code 500.."
Can anyone let me know as to what could be the cause of the problem. Please remember the response code is 500 and not 503.
regards
SameerHi Sudhir/Siva
My pipeline url has the following entry,
http://<hostname>:8000/sap/xi/engine/entry?action=execute
so u recommend that i should change it to,
http://<hostname>:8000/sap/xi/engine/entry?action=entry
(or)
http://<hostname>:8000/sap/xi/engine/entry?type=entry
(or)
http://<hostname>:8000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
which one of the above three should i change to. But whenever i try other scenarios such as idoc to file, it works fine. So by changing the pipeline url, will there be any problem while executing the the other scenarios.
cheers
Sameer

Received HTTP response code 500 : Internal Server Error using connection Fi
Hi everybody,
I have configured a file-webservice-file without BPM scenario...as explained by Bhavesh in the following thread:
File - RFC - File without a BPM - Possible from SP 19.
I have used a soap adapter (for webservice) instead of rfc .My input file sends the date as request message and gets the sales order details from the webservice and then creates a file at my sender side.
I monitored the channels in the Runtime work bench and the error is in the sender ftp channel.The other 2 channel status is "not used" in RWB.
1 sender ftp channel
1 receiver soap channel
1 receiver ftp channel.
