Restore/aggregate all databases

Hi everyone,
I'm in the middle of restoring a Planning application and I've loaded the data for all Plan Types using Essbase Administration Console. How do I aggregate all the databases now? I still have some .rul and .csc files from the application backup and I'm not sure how I should use them.
I mean, is there anything else I should do in EAS before moving on to importing Calculation Manager Rules?
Thank you!

How do I aggregate all the databases now? I still have some .rul and .csc files from the application backup and I'm not sure how I should use them.^^^ I take it that you didn't write these yourself. Have you looked at the code in the calc scripts? (That's the .csc files). Do you (and I'm not trying to be condescending) understand the BSO calc script language? If not, tread carefully. At least if it all blows up you can revert to your backup. Maybe Calc Manager has a Calc All? I'll bet that there's something to that effect in your calc scripts.
Lastly, I'm also guessing you don't have any documentation to go with this. Hopefully you're not one of my old clients... Someone fell down on the job on that one.
You can likely use the Default Calc on all of the databases, but there may be more optimized calculations available in the calc scripts or in Calc Manager itself. I would at least take a look there first.

  • RMAN restore from active database, ASM

    I'm attempting to refresh a stage database from a prod database using RMAN restore from active database. Both are on ASM. After working through various hurdles, I've got one issue I'm a bit stuck on. I've got a handful of data files that do NOT have OMF names (ie MSTRDATA/mstrmdpd/datafile/gsa_indx instead of MSTRDATA/mstrmdpd/datafile/gsa_indx.351.714779777) and these are failing when I do the restore. The syntax I'm using in RMAN is as follows:
    duplicate target database to dwstage
    from active database
    spfile parameter_value_convert 'dwprod','dwstage'
    SET DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT '+DWPROD','+DWSTAGE'
    SET LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT '+DWPROD','+DWSTAGE';
    The error message I'm getting is this:
    RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 04/21/2011 13:26:24
    ORA-17628: Oracle error 19505 returned by remote Oracle server
    continuing other job steps, job failed will not be re-run
    Normally from what I've seen/read this error can be traced back to needing to pre-create the directories for the controlfiles etc, but since 90% of the datafiles copied correctly...
    Any suggestions as to a way around this, or am I going to be forced to restore from a backupset?

    This fails saying that "ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections" which is quite normal given that the listener is havig a handle in BLOCKED state for this AUXDB as it is in NOMOUNT state.
    Could you please help me on how to proceed?
    One option can be to create the controlfile manually and mount the instance before doing the duplicate. I hope Rman can continue from there.
    Another option is to go for backup based duplicate.
    Is there any other way to go?
    Provide static registration on AUXILIARY side for your auxiliary instance and try again.For example change listener.ora file as
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (GLOBAL_DBNAME = AUXDB)
          (ORACLE_HOME = <your oracle home>)
          (SID_NAME = AUXDB)
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <auxiliary host/ip>)(PORT = 1521))
      )And restart listener on auxiliary host then try again

  • RESTORE ARCHIVELOG ALL VALIDATE; - returns log file names

    Environment:
    Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris 10.5
    RMAN using control file as repository.
    My archive logs are going to /arch/<SID>. During a time of unforeseen high activity the directory was filling up and some of the files had to be move to a different mount point. I have since done several Level 0 incremental backups including (plus) archivelogs.
    My RMAN archivelog deletion setting is: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO BACKED UP 1 TIMES TO DISK;
    I have since begun to run more frequent archive log backups to keep the mount point cleaner.
    Since I have several successful Level 0 backups including archivelogs, I manually deleted the archived logs on the secondary mount point.
    I registered the logs in the secondary mount point using REGISTER ARCHIVELOG START IN '/xxxx';
    I then ran a CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL; to update the control file repository.
    When I query the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view I see many entries for my deleted log files with a STATUS = 'X' (Expired) and a BACKUP_COUNT = 0.
    I ran DELETE EXPIRED ARCHIVELOG ALL;
    Now when I query the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view I see many entries with blank name column for the SEQUENCE# in my list and with a STATUS = 'D' (Deleted) and a BACKUP_COUNT = 0.
    When I run a RESTORE ARCHIVELOG ALL VALIDATE; it returns a long list of my deleted files with:
    RMAN-06025: no backup of archived log ... to restore
    OK, enough background. My question is how do I get RMAN to not look for my deleted files since I have several good backups?
    I realize my deletion policy says the files have to be backed up once to disk, which according to the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view they are not, but I was hoping since I ran the CROSSCHECK RMAN would not even be concerned with them.
    Many thanks for any advice!!
    -gary

    Thanks for the help! Square brackets! Doh!
    I changed the SQL just a bit. I have only one (1) thread and the primary database was running for several months before the standby was implemented so there are over 3500 sequence#'s in the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view for the Primary (DEST=1) that are not in the Standby (DEST=2).
    Here's the SQL I ran, using the SQUARE brackets! :-)
    SELECT SEQUENCE#
    FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG
    WHERE DEST_ID=1
    MINUS
    SELECT SEQUENCE#
    FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG
    WHERE DEST_ID=2It appears to me the Standby is accepting and applying the archived logs from the Primary based on looking at the most recent archived log sequence#'s.
    I'm just trying to get rid of the entries in the RESTORE ARCHIVELOG VALIDATE; command output.
    I don't have an RMAN Repository but am using the control files at the moment.
    Any other suggestions are very welcomed!!
    Thanks again!

  • Restore Exchange 2010 Database into Restore Database in stages

    I have a full backup and a number of incremental backed up using TSM.
    I am trying to restore a database into a recovery DB so that I can mount an old version of a users mailbox.
    To restore the full backup and all the subsequent incremental backups up to the point where the restore is required would take over 400GB, but we only have a 200GB drive to restore to.
    It seems that it must be possible to:
    Restore full backup + some incrementals
    perform recovery to replay logs
    Delete replayed logs
    restore more logs
    perform recovery to replay logs
    Delete replayed logs
    ... repeat from step 4 until the database is at the right time
    When I get to step 5 and try to replay the next set of logs, I seem to get various errors.
    Is what I am trying to do actually possible? Apply logs in stages to a database file?
    Kind Regards,
    Shane

    Hello Shane,
    I don't think it is possible to replay the transaction logs manually once it is in Clean Shutdown state from a previous incremental backup recovery and replay. Log Required field of the database will be set to 0-0 once replay/recovery is completed and database
    is set to clean shutdown state (you can verify with eseutil /mh dbpath) and then you won't be able replay the transaction logs anymore...
    Probably you could just restore logs to a temp location on network attached drive and perform full restore (full + all incremental)...
    For some reason you have to invoke the hard recovery manually you can use eseutil /cc "temp path of logs"

  • Clear Partial Data in an Essbase Aggregate storage database

    Can anyone let me know how to clear partial data from an Aggregate storage database in Essbase v 11.1.13? We are trying to clear some data in our dbase and don’t want to clear out all the data. I am aware that in Version 11 Essbase it will allow for a partial clear if we write using mdx commands.
    Can you please help me on the same by giving us some examples n the same?
    Thanks!

    John, I clearly get the difference between two. What I am asking is in the EAS tool itself for v 11.1.1.3 we have option - right clicking on the DB and getting option "Clear" and in turn sub options like "All Data", "All aggregations" and "Partial Data".
    I want to know more on this option part. How will this option know which partial data to be removed or will this option ask us to write some MAXL query for the same"?

  • How to aggregate all events which lead to occurence of a complex event?

    Hi there,
    Is it possible to aggregate all the events which lead to occurence of a complex event in this complex event?
    Let's say we have six simple events
    id    amount    groupId
    1     1         1
    2     0         2
    3     1         1
    4     1         2
    5     2         2
    6     1         1The definition of the complex event is
    select sum(amount), groupId from myStream[range 20 seconds slide 20 seconds] group by groupId having sum(amount) = 3Consider I have the following class for my complex event:
    public class ComplexEvent {
        private int groupId;
        private int amount;
        private List<SimpleEvent> events;
        // getters and setters
    }Is it possible to have two complex events:
    ComplexEvent1 = {groupId=1, amount=3, events=[{id=1, amount=1, groupId=1}, {id=3, amount=1, groupId=1}, {id=6, amount=1, groupId=1}]}
    ComplexEvent2 = {groupId=2, amount=3, events=[{id=2, amount=0, groupId=2}, {id=4, amount=1, groupId=2}, {id=5, amount=2, groupId=2}]}How can we achieve it?

    Hi,
    I have blogged an example solution to this type of use case since it is a common scenario in CEP applications:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/CEP/2010/08/enriching_complex_events_with.html
    There is not currently out-of-the-box support for paging events to disk storage. If you truly have more events than can fit into the Java heap, you could try persisting the events to the database or to a data grid, such as coherence, and then joining with the database or cache to create the complex event containing the causal events.
    Another approach is to horizontally partitioned the stream of incoming events across multiple servers.

    Seth

    I have a dumpall.psql file, but i dont see how to get it back into the postgres database. I know how to deal with mysql, but this seems completely different to it.
    I also have PgAdmin installed and can connect to the database.
    Can someone point me the right way please?
    Another Problem i have is, that the server seems to forget my password. Everytime i try to login with my main user, the password field shakes. I am a 100 % sure it is the right password. I can only login with a second admin account. When i do a restore from an Open  Directory Backup in Server Admin it seems to work again for a while, but not for long.
    Please help me, i really need the server back to work.

    Ok, i'm at least some steps closer:
    I have my data back in postgre and all users have their data back on their devices. At least their data up to the last backup.
    Here is what i did:
    I restored another time machine backup.
    Apple claims, that serverbackup (and therefore Time Machine) does backups of the postgre data, which is true.
    Apple claims, that the postgre data will be restored in case of a Time Machine restore. In my case it didnt.
    You find a dumpall.psql in your time machine backups --> Library/Server/PostgreSQL/Backup (In my case there was a gzip file as well, but it didnt seem to be updated)
    I connected with postgre using pgadmin 3 following this tutorial: http://www.mactasia.co.uk/revisited-using-postgresql-in-lion-server
    I dropped all databases but the postgres-database.
    Open Terminal and write "sudo psql -f infile postgres" with infile being the path to your dumpall.psql (More commands at http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.1/interactive/backup.html)
    This will write all data from the backup to your database.
    Voilá, you will have your data back.
    Give the clients time to get the content back from the server.
    Never start the wiki again, because it was the one which destroyed everything in the first place.
    Still i have a huge problem:
    I cant login with my main admin user. I can login with another admin. Then i reset the main user password and i can login with it again. But only once. Any advice on this?

    If Other (the yellow bar) is too big something is corrupted.  The only solution (that I know of) is to restore from your most recent backup using iTunes (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).

    Did you by chance have photo stream turned on? If so then they might be there. When you restored your phone it deleted everything and they will be unretreivable from your computer.

  • Is there a way to restore the All Contacts app on my iPad 1.  it seems  the data and cannot turn a page or add more contacts

    Is there a way to restore the All Contacts app on my gen 1 ipad?  I seem to have lost the data and can't turn a page or add new contacts.  I did try to reload the contacts (and I guess everything else) from my itunes computer backup but nothing happens to the All Contacts app. everything else seems to work fine on the ipad so I'm not sure what happened to the data or why.  not sure i want to try and reset the whole ipad just for this one little app or feature...thanks in advance to any replies.

    Sorry, had to sep out.  I see the contacts "page" but I can't use the letters on the left margin or a finger touch to change location.  Nor does anything happen when I touch the plus sign to allow me to add a new contact.  So maybe he actual old contact data is still there I just can't get to it.  Rick

  • My iPod touch needs to be restored. however, all of my movies/apps/songs/photos are not backed up on my computer because the shop on my computer does not work. can i still get the memory on my iPod touch 32gb back?

    If you weren't able to sync the purchases to a computer previously and now your iPod needs to be restored so you can't sync it now, then you may be out of luck and will need to purchase your content again. Officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications and iBooks. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
    You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
    Good luck.

  • I synced my phone to another computer to get the update and when i went to restore it, all my music was earased, but everything else was normal. how do i get my music back?

    I enabled the backup, but when i went to use the backup, the phone recovered everything except the music.

    Of course your music was lost - unless you uncheck sync music, you're syncing with another music library. You'll have to sync your phone with the other/original computer to the music back.
