Restore deleted rows in sql server 2008

Hi,
I have problem, I used import and export wizard in sql server 2008, and select wrong database in source data and wrong database in destination data (i Reflect databases) and  in editing mapping i make check for delete rows in destination table.
the step final complete and  i lost my data and i don't have backup
how i can restore my data

its not a straight forward activity if you don't have backups, first thing you need to do is to create proper maintenance plan for you databases. You can refer below links which could give some clue about your probles.

  • Installed hotfix for error 3241 when you run RESTORE FILELISTONLY statement in SQL Server 2008 R2. But still get same errormessage.

I ran into erro 3241 when you run RESTORE FILELISTONLY statement in SQL Server 2008 R2.
    Found the hotfix
    Cumulative Update 13 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1.
I have installed this hotfix, now running 10.50.2876.0
But I still get the same error when trying to restore a backup.
What else do I need to do?

second to what bodo said Instead of installing SQL server 2012 SP1 CU13 it would be better to install
SQL Server 2008 r2 Sp2 SP's are more throughly tested and would include all fixes for CU and Sp1

  • 30 M rows in SQL Server 2008 R2- View or Table for faster performance

    Hello,
I am creating a SSRS 2008 report that currently is using a view. It's a view made out of one table and is not indexed.
There are 70 some columns that I am displaying in the report with 10 or so parameters that I am passing through a procedure from SSRS to SQL Server.
When the report runs in Server or in development mode, the report gets out of memory error - which could be a totally different issue as it is trying to bring in a  couple million rows amd runs for 15- 20 mins.. and errors out.
My question is if it is sourcing a single table, will a view be better with the right index or a table with index.
Clustered, non clustered? Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You.

What is the exact error message?
In SSRS you can use a stored procedure with parameters as data source. You can use a query in the sp, you don't need a view.
    >it is trying to bring in a  couple million rows amd runs  20 mins.. and errors out.
Indexing not likely to help you. You have a huge return set problem.

  • Require help with Pivot table query in SQL Server 2008

    Hi,
I have a query regarding converting columns to rows in SQL Server 2008. Please look at the table below.
I need the output to look something like this :
The columns for the children can be dynamic or fixed ( max of 6 children) based on the Family_ID.  For Example: A family can have 1 child or more than 1 child.
Not sure how to go about it. Would appreciate your help :)

Looks like you need dynamic pivot on multiple columns. I have two articles on this topic, start from this one

  • Backup Restore With SQL Server 2008 R2 although it succeeded with SQL Server 2008

    Dears;
I have a Full backup of some DB of around 417 GB within SQL Server 2008 R2 , and when I tried to restore it , i get  stuck several times with the error below :
    Restore failed for Server   (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)
A system assertion check has failed. Check the SQL Server error log for details. Typically, an assertion failure is caused by a software bug or data corruption. To check for database corruption, consider
running DBCC CHECKDB. If you agreed to send dumps to Microsoft during setup, a mini dump will be sent to Microsoft. An update might be available from Microsoft in the latest Service Pack or in a QFE from Technical
    Although I have restored
successfully other several Full+ Deferential backups for the same DB while it was in SQL Server 2008 not 2008 R2.
And so I have rounded all different possible assumptions for such common know error by Microsoft for SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 but
    no way as next:
    1-
I have attempted to restore it within 2 environments clustered and non-clustered of SQL Server 2008 R2.
    2-
I have attempted to restore verify it and it was so fine .
    3-
I have attempted to restore it using Continue_after_error ,no_checksum but no way.
    4-
I have attempted to move Backup file to another Storage but no way.
    5-
I have scheduled jobs to DBCC
Checkdb the live DB and it wasn’t any errors since long time right now
    6-
I have also DBCC check all master +msdb+model+Tempdb ,and they are so fine
    7-
I have also checked all I/O subsystem of SAN and Network controllers , but they are fine evidenced much more by my trial on 2 different environments.
    8-
I have also checked Memory and it is so fine all the time since I have 128 GB memory and I control it also so well.
    For DB Design +Structure :
It has 20 Files containing tables partitioned horizontal +Vertically
(Schema Partitioning +File Stream partitioning ) through these 20 files.
I have Data compression of the required tables only.
I have one table of more than 300 GB alone which is partitioned as mentioned above.
I have implemented Read Committed Snapshot isolation level using row versioning integrated so well with File stream technology since it is a new feature of SQL 2008 R2.
DB is in simple recovery model for garbage collection of all file stream data as a result of much Delete /update in images themselves.
So any one has any idea about such case..How to solve it…?

    Hi Ashwin,
When i searched with no answers these are listed out. So i thought this is still existing. Now on wards let me check the data and time of latest reply. Thanks for guidance.

  • How to delete the Folder from sql server 2008

    Hi all,
I was trying to delete the folder from sql server 2008 with the below script
DECLARE @path VARCHAR(256) -- path for backup files
    DECLARE @cmd VARCHAR(8000)
    DECLARE @folderName VARCHAR(256) -- filename for backup
    SET @folderName = + (CONVERT(varchar(10), GETDATE()-7, 112))  -- 7 days back date folder name
    SET @path = 'I:\Backup_Test\' + @folderName -- Folder path
    SET @cmd = 'del ' + @path -- Delete
    EXEC master..xp_cmdshell @cmd
    --Print @cmd
This is not working it was asking the Confirmation (I:\Backup_Test\20100629\*, Are you sure (Y/N)? ) what will i do to the delete the folder.
    Thanks,
    Prasad R.

I would notice   you that T-SQL does not play well to do things like that. Do not you want using .net language to delete folders?
    Old method is
    declare @HR int, @CFOLDER varchar(255),@FSO int
        set @CFOLDER='D:\folder\'
        EXEC @HR = sp_OACreate 'Scripting.FileSystemObject', @FSO OUT
        EXEC @HR = sp_OAMethod @FSO, null, 'DeleteFolder', @CFOLDER
Now regarding to your second question please examine xp_fileexist  system stored procedure
    CREATE FUNCTION dbo.fn_file_exists(@filename VARCHAR(300))
      RETURNS INT
    AS
    BEGIN
      DECLARE @file_exists AS INT
      EXEC master..xp_fileexist @filename, @file_exists OUTPUT
      RETURN @file_exists
    END
    GO
    -- test
    SELECT dbo.fn_file_exists('c:\a.txt')

  • How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012

How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012.
I BACKED UP a SQL Server 2008 database from work, which runs the enterprise version of 2008, and I tried to RESTORE it to my new 64-Bit home PC which is running the new SQL Server Express 2012 64-Bit (Advanced Edition).
But if fails. I get the following message text.
Can anyone help me please. I thought restoring a 2008 database to the later version 2012 would be possible.
Here is the error message. Thanks.

Are you sure your database is SQL server 2008 from error message it seems your SQL server version is 2000.I guess you have multiple versions of SQL server.
AFAIK you cannot restore backup of SQL server 2000 to 2012 directly .Restore it first to SQL 2008/2008R2 or 2005 then take backup again of new database created and then you would be able to restore it on 2012.Its kind of intermediate way
Also make sure your DB size is less than 10 G as max DB size supported by Express edition is 10 G and if your DB size is more than 10 G restore will fail.
You are also trying to restore enterprise DB backup on express edition so you will loose enterprise features on express edition

  • How to convert rows to columns in sql server 2008

How to convert rows to columns in sql server 2008 using the GROUP BY function? (only one query allowed)

Lookup the Pivot transformation. From BOL:
The Pivot transformation makes a normalized data set into a less normalized
but more compact version by pivoting the input data on a column value. For
example, a normalized Orders data set that lists customer name, product, and quantity purchased typically has multiple rows for any customer who purchased multiple products, with each row for that customer showing order
details for a different product. By pivoting the data set on the product column, the Pivot transformation can output a data set with a
single row per customer. That single row lists all the purchases by the customer, with the product names shown as column names, and the quantity shown as a value in the product column. Because not every customer purchases every product, many columns may contain
    null values.
When a dataset is pivoted, input columns perform different roles in the pivoting process. A column can participate in the following ways:
The column is passed through unchanged to the output. Because many input rows
can result only in one output row, the transformation copies only the first
    input value for the column.
The column acts as the key or part of the key that identifies a set of
    records.
The column defines the pivot. The values in this column are associated with
    columns in the pivoted dataset.
The column contains values that are placed in the columns that the pivot
    creates.

  • Moving the log file of a publisher database SQL Server 2008

There are many threads on this here. Most of them not at all helpful and some of them wrong. Thus a fresh post.
This post regards SQL Server 2008 (10.0.5841)
The PUBLISHER database primary log file which is currently of 3 blocks and not extendable,
must be moved as the LUN is going away.
The database has several TB of data and a large number of push transactional replications as well as a couple of bi-directional replications.
While the primary log file is active, it is almost never (if ever) used due to its small fixed size.
We are in the 20,000 TPS range at peak (according to perfmon). This is a non-trivial installation.
    This means that
backup/restore is not even a remotely viable option (it never is in the real world)
downtime minimization is critical - measured in minutes or less.
dismantling and recreating the replications is doable, but I have to say, I have zero trust in the script writer to generate accurate scripts. Many of these replications were originally set up in older versions of SQL Server and have come along for the
ride as upgrades have occurred. I consider scripting everything and dismantling the whole lot pretty high risk. In any case, I do not want to have to reinitialize any replications as this takes, effectively, an eternity.
    Possible solution:
The only option I can think of is to wind down everything, such that there are zero outstanding uncommitted transactions and detach the database, delete the offending log file and reattach using the CREATE DATABASE xyz ATTACH_REBUILD_LOG option.
This should, if I have understood things correctly, cause SQL Server to recreate the default log file in the same directory as the .mdf file. I am not sure what will happen to the secondary log file which is not moving anywhere at this point.
The hard bit is insuring that every transaction in the active log files have been replicated before shutdown. This is probably doable. I do not know how to manually flush any left over transactions to replication. I expect if I shut down all "real"
activity and wait for a certain amount of time, eventually all the replications will show "No replicated transactions are available" and then I would be good to go.
Hillary, if you happen to be there, comments appreciated.

    Hi Philip
you should try this long back suggested way of stopping replication and restore db and rename or detach attach

I do not wish to be rude, but which part of the OP didn't you understand?
Specifically the bit about 20,000 transactions a second and database size of several TB. Do you have any concept whatsoever of what this means? I will answer for you, "no, you are clueless" as your answer clearly shows.
Stop wasting bandwidth by proposing pointless and wrong solutions which indicate that you did not read the OP, or do you just do this to generate points?
Also, you clearly failed to notice that I was on the thread to which you referred, and I had some pointed comments to make. This thread was an attempt to garner some input for an alternative proposal.

  • SQL Server Service won't start on SQL Server 2008

    Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble starting SQL Server service after stopping and starting the service. Before this happened, I created a Stored Procedure for marking all tables at once along with a maintenance plan for differential backup on all my databases based on the
    recommendation from this link, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms253070.aspx.
When I realized that the differential backup failed with some databases displaying (Restoring...) post-fix to the database name, I decided to stop SQL Server service and start it up. That is when I won't be able to start the service again.
Is there a fix for starting the SQL Server service? Any help is very much appreciated.

    - With administrator permission granted.
    - Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2008 installed.
    - Using default database instance.
    - Tried C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.....\Binn>net start MSSQLSERVER /T3608 ( return msg: System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied.

  • Best way to migrate SharePoint 2003 data into SQL Server 2008

    Hi Experts,
I am planning to migrate data from SharePoint 2003 into SQL Server 2008. After the migration SharePoint site will be deleted in couple of months and then that data will be feed into .Net Front end application
    1) What is the best and easy way to do it?
    2) Is there any way to automate the migration process? i.e. If a new record gets entered into SharePoint it should be populated into SQL Server 2008.
    3) Any other suggestions
    Thanks,
    John

    Dear John,
If it's just a few lists, and you just want to import them "as-is" then it should be possible to do so ... and survive to tell the about it ;-)
Generally speaking, You will need to write a small process (program or script) to read/parse each list and check if the item(s) are in the target table (I assuming that there is a distinct table as target
for each list, and that each list has 'something" you can use to distinct each row), if it's not there, the just add them according to your needs.
Then just rerun the process periodically and it would keep your databases up to date (you could even set ti up to update those records that have changes, but that would delay your process significantly)
What i just described is doable, and not TOO complicated, it could be done i a lot different ways, and with different alternatives of programming/scripting languages. for sure you can do it in any flavor
of .net language, and even powershell.
As I mentioned, this is speaking in general, the actual implementation would depend on your specific needs and the kind of data that you have/need to keep.
    Best Regards / Saludos, Marianok

  • Change Tracking internals behave differently, SQL Server 2012 vs SQL Server 2008

    <original post by Glenn Estrada>
Reposting an issue from Stack Overflow that a coworker and I are dealing with.
In trouble shooting an issue with synchronizing disconnected devices with a central database server using Sync Framework 1.0, we are experiencing a problem after upgrading to SQL Server 2012 on the server. It appears that the CHANGE_TRACKING_MIN_VALID_VERSION
is returning a value 1 higher than it should (or at least than it did prior to the upgrade.)
I have been working thru Arshad
Ali's great walk thru example of how to set up a simple example.
I have run the scripts from #1 thru #5 to insert, delete, and update a row in the Employee table in both a SQL Server 2008 and a 2012 environment.
In 2008, the following statement returns a 0:
    SELECT CHANGE_TRACKING_MIN_VALID_VERSION(OBJECT_ID('Employee'))
    In 2012, it returns a 1.
In working thru a few more scripts (6-8) in the tests, I set the retention period to 1 minute to hopefully force a cleanup action. I left for the day and apparently it ran overnight.
In the 2008 instance, the CHANGE_TRACKING_CURRENT_VERSION and the CHANGE_TRACKING_MIN_VALID_VERSION are equal (11). In the 2012 instance, the CHANGE_TRACKING_MIN_VALID_VERSION is one higher (12) than the CHANGE_TRACKING_CURRENT_VERSION (11). This could have
an impact to the synchronization process when a database is idle for extended periods of time. And we have found that process could get caught in a loop, especially when the following test is performed to determine if a re-initialization, as opposed to synchronization,
    is required:
    IF CHANGE_TRACKING_MIN_VALID_VERSION(object_id(N'dbo.Employee')) > @sync_last_received_anchor
RAISERROR (N'SQL Server Change Tracking has cleaned up tracking information for table ''%s''...
Has anyone else experienced this change in behavior? Does anyone have an explanation?

  • How to troubleshoot online datamove for 1 of 3 SQL Server 2008 migrations.

I have 3 SQL Server 2008 databases that I need to migrate to Oracle 11gR2 with data only. For all databases I can capture convert, and deploy to the target database. I can also successfully do an online data move for 2 of the databases. The third database runs for about 2 hours and gives a message that the migration completed successfully, but no a single row from any of the tables comes over. How do I figure out what failed. I don't see anything in the reports in SQL Developer (3.2.20.09). To save time and since I am only interested in the tables, indexes and data, after capturing the model, I delete from QL Developer, views, procedures, functions, sequences and triggers before the covert step.

    Hello,
did you delete the views, procedures, functions etc. from the converted model only for the database where you have the problem, or did you do the same for all the three databases?
Have you had a look at the MIGRLOG table in your migration repository? Does it contain any helpful information?
    Regards
    Wolfgang

  • Cannot Install Sql Server 2008, Gives The Error "Database Engine Services Failed"

I cannot install Sql Server 2008 R2 on Windows 8. Tried many times but failed because it gives the error "Database
Engine Services Failed". Sql files cannot be corrupted because i can install the same setup on Windows 7 and i can connect to databases.
    I tried all the things below;
    * I'm uninstalling everything related with Sql Server from Control Panel/Programs And Features.
    * I'm deleting all the keys related with Sql Server from Regedit.
    * Later i'm restarting windows, and trying to install again. But during the install it gives the error "Database
Engine Services Failed", install is finishing but when i opened the Management Studio i cannot connect to Database Engine with Sa naturally.
    * My firewall is already closed. And i have not any antivirus software.
    * I gave the permission for port 1433 on firewall.
Please help me. Why i always take "Database Engine Services Failed" error? I will get crazy cause of that for many days.

    Here's the ERRORLOG file which i found under the folder;
