Restoring a window from minimization

I have a program that runs in full screen exclusive (fse) that makes a call to run an executable. That executable also runs in fse so my program is minimized during the executable and it stays that way once the executable has completed. Is there a way to restore my program's frame to fse? Thanks.

Hi thatguy,
I think following method will help you.
yourFrame.setState(JFrame.NORMAL);If not than please provide more description about your problem and if possible than with code, so one can solve the issue.

  • Flash Player Update disables "restore all windows from last session" in Safari on Mac

I am on Mac OS 10.9.5, using safari 7.1.2.  Adobe Flash Player Update loses all safari windows when after update the installer automatically opens safari and just opens flash player website; the "restore all windows from last session" is grayed out in history. The "reopen last closed window" is also grayed out. It has been happening ever since and happened again when I just installed Flash Player ver 16.0.0.257.
For all other normal working situation I can close safari and reopen and see that I can "restore all windows from last session" and there is no problem.  But on flash Player install (set on manual install), the problem is annoying and costs me a lot of time to restore one by one from history.  I do not think this is a Mac or a Safari issue, but will update to Mac Yosemite help if Adobe Flash Player is updated differently in that setup?
    Please help.

Update: I called adobe flash player technical support phone number 1 877-587-1877.  They want $59 (warranty only 6 months) to fix this problem as they use a third party to solve this issue; they themselves provide no support.  Or buy the paid version.  They insist it is my network issue which I absolutely can not believe.
It is adobe Flash player update that forces reopening of safari and wracks the safari losing all windows from last session. That is not my network.  Adobe does not have a proper safari compatible flash player update.
Besides, this is a known problem at Adobe and they are not fixing it and want money to fix it one person at a time!  They also shared that 25% to 30% of the installations have this problem... wow!! and they still will not fix it in a general update!  I wonder if safari has a plug in update that can fix this?

  • How do I restore a Windows 8.1 system image if I upgraded from Windows 8?

I have a new HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC 15-j003cl.
It came with Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1.
I created the HP Recovery USB flash drive.
From my reading I understand that the recovery USB flash drive is Windows 8 not 8.1.
    My question is:
Can I restore a Windows 8.1 System Image Backup I made on a USB hard drive using the Windows 8 recovery USB flash drive?
Or, to put it another way, what is the recommended procedure to back up an upgraded Windows 8.1 computer so, in the event of hard-drive failure, I don't have to start with Windows 8, upgraded to 8.1, re-install all my apps?
    Thanks
    Kirk

OK here's where I am now and a few followup questions,
    Started with Windows 8.
Upgraded from Windows Store to Windows 8.1
Installed lots of apps and got everything running the way I like.
I created a full system image of my upgraded 8.1 hard drive to an external USB hard drive.
I have successfully created a recovery boot USB flash.  (did not copy recovery partition) I can restart the computer from
it and navigate up to the point where it will restore my system image made after I upgraded to 8.1.  (I don't want to risk
trying it for fear it will mess up my computer)
Assume my hard drive failed and I have a new blank hard drive:
My question is at this point does it matter that this was originally a windows 8 (not 8.1) computer?
Will I be able to restore the image of 8.1?
Does it matter which version of Windows I created the recovery boot USB flash on?  ( I can't tell when it boots from the
recovery USB flash if it is running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
I wish there was a way to test this without risking losing all the work I have done to configure the computer??
    Thanks,
    Kirk

  • Can I restore my mac from a Time Machine backup once I have used BootCamp to partition and set up Windows (without erasing all of the Windows content)?

A few months ago I partitioned my mac using BootCamp and successfully installed Windows and a few Windows-only programs (games).  I never restored my mac from the Time Machine backup and now I would really like all of my files back on my mac.  I am wondering if I insert the osx install disc and restore from Time Machine backup, will that get rid of the partition I made for Windows?  Will the Windows side of my hard drive stay in tact or will everything on that side get erased when I restore the mac side from the Time Machine backup.  It was a HUUUUUUUGE pain to do the BootCamp partition and get everything Windows set up and I would really like to not have to do that all over again.  I just want to make sure that if I insert the mac osx install disc and restore from Time Machine backup it will only affect the Mac partition, NOT the Windows partition.

    Hi,
Time Machine does not touch your BootCamp Windows.
It simply said ignores it completely.
Nonetheless, I am curious as to why you wanna restore a Time Machine backup.
Usually during partitioning with the BootCamp Assistant in OSX to make the Windows partition your OSX stays intact.

Firefox didn't sync my bookmark to my account???? WTF. i reinstall my windows but i thought ff synced my bookmarks. .. how can i restore my bookmark from my account?????

Sorry. Sync isn't really intended as a backup medium as you were trying to use it for. It isn't meant to be a storage "cloud". It's purpose is to keep Firefox bookmarks synchronized across multiple Firefox installations or Profiles - so all your bookmarks are the same on each device / Profile.

  • How do I restore a backup from Time Capsule on Windows Vista?

I have had to restore My Windows Vista PC to original and need to also restore by backup that was made to time Capsule.  I can see the daily backups when browsing through the TC via Windows Backup/Restore, but it tells me there are no valid backup files.  Any Ideas?

That is purely a windows issue.. the TC is a storage device.. nothing more.. if you can see the files, then the problem is windows cannot find the main or initial backup. Check with Microsoft.. or windows forums.

  • What is the correct procedure to follow after restoring a Mac from a Time Machine Backup?

    Hi all,
I did a Time Machine backup of my entire system (Time Machine Backup 1) before bringing my Macbook Pro to the Apple Store to to have it tested.   After the TM backup I wiped the laptop leaving only the OS (Mountain Lion) on it so that I could determine whether the problems with my system were hardware or software related. The computer passed all tests.
After bringing my Macbook home I did a fresh intall of all the software and everything worked fine.  At this point I did another Time Machine backup (in the same location as the previous backup) so that if I ever had problems with my system I could revert to this working backup (Time Machine Backup 2.0).  I used my laptop without issue and created a number of new documents.  I did not transfer the documents from the previous time machine backup (Time Machine Backup 1).  As time progressed I did regular Time Machine backups (backups 2.1 etc.) installed a few new pieces of software and started having system issues again.
At that point I did another Time Machine backup (in the same location as the previous backups) (Time Machine Backup 3) so that my new documents would be safe.  At this point I could see all of my TM backups in finder.  Then I used Command + R while booting up and restored my system from what I thought was the clean backup (Time Machine Backup 2).  In fact it the TM backup I used was not the correct backup (It was one of the backups between 2.0 and 3 and I needed to go back further).  I was concerned, at this point, because I did not (and still do not) know what type of effect restoring the system from an old Time Machine backup would have on the Time Machine structure going forward  I was unsure whether doing so and having an "old" system backed up might break the structure so I stopped Time Machine from running a new backup.
When I attempted to look for one of the older versions of the Time Machine backups I discovered that there were no longer any listings for TM backups in their previous location.  In fact, the only thing I could see was one line in the place where the multiple backups were previously.  I took my laptop and NAS (where the TM backups were stored) to the Apple Store and the "genius" said something about the TM backup being "parsed"?  He also described it as a "broken window" and he "sees the broken glass but has no idea how it broke".  He also said "neither he nor anyone at Apple would be able to assist me" and that I'd have to go to a data recovery place.
Fortunately I did use a second drive to backup the original system (Backup 1) but I really don't want to lose the files created ater Backup 2 / prior to Backup 3.
Does anyone know what happened / how I can get my Time Machine backups back without forking out tons of cash?
    thanks

  • How do I set Safari to prompt before closing multiple tabs OR reopen all of the closed tabs when when I relaunch the application?  The "Reopen all windows from last session" is unselectable.

How do I set Safari to prompt before closing multiple tabs OR reopen all of the closed tabs when when I relaunch the application?  The "Reopen all windows from last session" is unselectable.

It would seem if your choose "Show my windows and tabs from last time" '''''and''''',
*when you last closed Firefox, you had no web site open (just a blank tab), that it would open just that blank tab
*when you last closed Firefox, you had one or more tabs/web site open, that would allow you to "Restore Previous Session"
    #Have you tried that?
#If so, what is happening in each circumstance when you reopen Firefox?
    '''Restore Previous Session'''<br />
Open tabs are automatically saved when closing Firefox beginning in Firefox 4. To open your last session, after Firefox starts, click History > Restore Previous Session. For this to work

  • Safari Reopen All Windows from last session greyed out

    Hi there,
I am using Safari 7.0.6 version. I have a Macbook Pro OS X  10.9.4  I have made sure that under my Safari Preferences/General/ the Close all windows .... is UNCHECKED but I still can't get the "Reopen All Windows From Last Session" to be activated.  I can't even do it manually as it is greyed out.
    Any suggestions?

Unfortunately no, but there is a free Safari extension that offers this feature.
    Glims for Safari | www.MacHangout.com
Once Glims is installed, you can access the settings in Safari > Preferences > Extensions then select the General tab then toggle: Restore Tabs and Launch on.
    Other handy features as well.
And you can have Glims check for updates automatically.

  • Reopen All Windows from Last Session is not working

The option Reopen All Windows from Last Session is not working, is there any other way to recover the tabs from my last session?
Last night I fell asleep and my friend shut down my laptop.
When I woke up in the morning I couldn't restore my last session which had several tabs opened for my research.
I don't know the exact date when I found them, so I haven't been able to find them in History either.
I've looked around on the internet, but haven't been able to find anything that helped me out.
Hope you can help me! Thanks.

    Restart your Mac.
Check the box for:  Reopen windows when logging back in
Then check History >  Reopen Windows from Last Session

Safari was loading web pages very slowly, so I closed 2 windows, each with multiple tabs, and then quit Safari. I reopened Safari, went to History, but the "Reopen all windows from last session" option was greyed out. How can I restore my tabs?

  • Some pages blank after "Reopen All Windows From Last Session"

    Hi there,
For several months now I have been having a strange problem. "Reopen All Windows From Last Session" works, but only partially. If I have e.g. 14 tabs open in 4 windows and quit/crash Safari, then when Safari relaunches and I reopen all windows, an arbitrary number of them will turn blank. There will be nothing in the URL bar for those tabs and the tab will load as "Untitled" and a blank page.
This morning I lost 5 tabs this way. In the past I've lost up to 21 of 23. I have never lost all of them; often I lose nothing at all.
If I then use plutil to convert the LastSession.plist file to XML and examine it, it will have a null string where the missing URLs should be ("<string></string>"). I did so right before I posted, and everything looks reasonable while Safari is running - no obvious file corruption.
(And for the "use fewer tabs" crowd, I use this Mac to work tech support and have to have a large number of constantly shifting resources open simultaneously. Is the convenience of carrying them over from session to session too much to ask?)

Today I shut Safari down after saving two copies of ~/Library/Safari/LastSession.plist to the desktop and converting one to xml*. I reviewed that file; only one URL was blanked out, and I saved that URL manually into a Stickie for later retrieval.
After I quit Safari, I saved two more copies of LastSession.plist and converted one to xml*. There was no change whatsoever from the pre-Safari-quit state. 28 good URLs and 1 blank, across 6 pages.
I booted up Safari. Result? 10 blank tabs out of 29. So this means:
    - 1 lost during normal operation before program quit
    - 0 lost as a result of program quit
    - 9 lost as a result of program startup
    - 9 http: URLs
    - 1 https: URL
    - (n.b. there were 2 more https: URLs which saved and reloaded correctly)
I will now quit Safari, restore a saved .plist file into its directory, and try to reproduce it.
    * .plist files are by default stored in a binary format. If you want to read what's inside a .plist file as part of your own troubleshooting, save a copy of the file and run the plutil command from within Terminal:
plutil -convert xml1 -e pxml FILENAME
(replace FILENAME with the full name and path of the file you saved)
This will give you a file named FILENAME.pxml in the same location that you can read with TextEdit or any of the command-line text editing commands.

  • I don't want Safari to re-open all windows from last session; can't make it stop. Set Safari preferences to new window and new tab open with blank page, but it won't.

P.S. Also cleared cache and History. Running OS 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7.

I hate this "feature", and it is another example of Apple taking functionality (and choice) away from the user. In this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4550
there is a description of it.
    Resume in OS X Lion
When you open Safari in Lion or restart the Mac, Safari automatically restores the open windows and tabs from your last browsing session, so you can continue right where you left off.
Tip: To open Safari without resume, hold down the shift key (⇧) as you open Safari. Safari will then open with the options you selected in the "General" tab of Safari preferences, options like your homepage.
In Mac OS X v10.6 and Microsoft Windows, you can choose to have Safari automatically restore your windows in the "General" tab of Safari preferences.
99 times out of 100, I DON'T want to restore all the windows from my last browser session. It makes zero sense for them to take the checkbox out of the General tab of the Safari Prefs.
