Restrict access to files with JAAS

Hi,
I would like to restrict access based on a JAAS-autenticated user to a file named
c:/foo.txt. I have written some code that checks if the autenticeted user has
access to the file, but how and where do I grant the user access with JAAS in
WebLogic Server 6.
FilePermission filePerm = new FilePermission("c:/foo.txt", "read");
java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(filePerm);

As stated in the the Using Wildcard Patterns section of the NSAPI Programmer's Guide at http://docs.sun.com/source/817-6252/npgwldcrd.html, ~ is a special character in wildcard patterns. As such, your examples will not work.

PathCheck fn="deny-existence"
</Client>You can add the above immediately below the <Object name="default"> line in the obj.conf configuration file.

Restrict access to files

Hi,
i'm trying to restrict acccess to all the files ending with ~ in my server , i couldn't do it. I try to deny access for files ending with ~. I have sun one webserver 6.1 sp1 in a sunfire solaris 9 machine. i tryed to do what is written in the documentation using the wildcard *.*~ and deny all order but this close all the server not only the ~ files. i don't know what happen why the server can't understand.
May be is imposible to restrict files in all the server?

Again question about restricting access to files through URL?

I found many topics about this, but every time it is some special case.
I want to ask it simple. How can I restrict access to some files in my application through entering URL in Browser, no matter if I am logged or not.
For example I have included JSP files with jspf extension. I don't want to access them through url. How can I do this?

May be it will work, but it seems somehow workaround decision - one half of jsp files in one place and another part in other place.

Problem with Restrict Access to Page with access level using ASP

I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 with ASP-VBScript and an Access
database. The pages were created from scratch for this project,
using those tools all the way through.
I've created a login page, an admin homepage, and add, edit,
and list records pages for three tables. The login page uses the
Server Behavior "Log in User", all other pages use the Server
Behavior "Restrict Access to Page". All of these are based on an
Access Level.
Login seems to work correctly, and redirects to the admin
homepage. From the admin homepage, I can open any other page as
expected, and they initially display correctly. On the add and edit
pages, however,
submitting the form often results in getting logged out, but
not always.
Once this happens, I can log back in, but other problems will
sometimes occur during that second login session. Sometimes,
logouts will occur on pages that worked fine during the first login
session. Sometimes, another session variable that I've setup
manually will change when it shouldn't...as if there were two
values stored for my session variable, and reloading the page
changes to the other value.
This
post seems closest to my experience, but it doesn't look like
there was really an answer beyond "I had to fight with it for a bit
to get it to work":
I suspected that there is some problem with session settings
on the server. We have an almost identical tool on the same server
that was developed with an older version of DW that works more
reliably; it sometimes has problems with the initial login, but
never has a problem after that.
Has anyone experienced problems like this? Any suggestions
for what to check? I'm really pulling my hair out since it's so
unreliable...the kind of problem that goes away when you try to
show someone and comes back when they leave.

I was thinking that all I would need would be the username, although username and paswsword would be more secure. There are about 50 users and no groups or levels. They are all equal ... same level.
The website is private and there is a general content area for all users and then there will be private areas for each user where proprietary documents will be held. I need to be able to ensure that user 'A' can only see the user 'A' pages, user 'B' can only see user 'B', etc.
I don't really understand what the Dreamweaver script is doing, but the overview sounded like it was the right tool to accomplish what I'm trying to do.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

After you finish installing Artbox , you must now make sure that samba is setup correctly. I just plan to try ArtBox and ubuntu using virtualbox, hope it can work fine.

Tungsten T3 - need to access DAT file with addresses - Please Help

I have an old Palm Tungsten T3. The desktop computer with the synced address data has died and the T3 has lost power (so no addresses anymore).
I have a .DAT file backup with all my addresses. Can anyone advise how I can get access to these.
Reinstalling Palm Desktop 4.1.4e did not help as it doesn't allow me to import .DAT files.
Can I import this file into any other app or open up in Excel etc?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

You have to physically copy the .dat file into the User directory over the existing address.dat file. Find the one with your hotsync name abbreviated (i.e. - C:/Program Files/Palm (or PalmOne)/ your Hotsync name /address) and copy the .dat file there.
Be sure you copy the file and keep another one safe in case something goes wrong. The existing blank address.dat file will be only about 2k in size.

Reading MS Access Database file with database adapter in soa

I have an .MDB file on another machine that i want to read from within SOA composite using database adapter. can i do that ? how ?

Have you checked out the jdbc-odbc bridge from Sun? I would think you should be able to create a jdbc connection to Microsoft Access. With that connection, you would then be able to create a jndi entry on the DB adapter from SOA. I haven't used this before, so I'm not sure how well, or even if it would work.

Is it possible to access local files with MIDP?

I am developing a mobile application using Sun One Studio 4 ME, with MIDP 2.0.
I am preparing a record store as input data for my application. "Preparing" means: I try to convert a local text file present on my PC into a record store.
The problem I have is that I cannot find a way in MIDP to allow me to access the local file. It seems to me that MIDP only allows data access over the Web. Am I correct?

Did you save the messages in a Personal Folder files (PST) or as individual messages on disk? The PST and MSG file formats are proprietary and might not be accessible outside of Outlook.
If you want to move those messages to a different email program, assuming you have permission to do so, one way is to upload them to an IMAP account (Gmail allows you to connect Outlook as an IMAP client). However, that's pretty complicated, so I suggest researching it on the web, checking at least a few sites to make sure you know all the steps.

Bug: can't access static files with space in the path

Please let me know if this a a wrong place to file bug reports.
I installed webserver7u4 and when I try to access a static file within my war which contains a space in the path, I get HTTP404.

Restricted access Simple File Deployment

Hello,
I have installed CPS on tomcat on a Windows testing box. I've
configured it and Contribute to use a stagging server.
Everything is working great. However, on the web page for the
Simple File Deployment service (
http://<server:<port>/.../customservices/filedeployer/>
for testing purposes I'm not using SSL - is that required?) anyone
can access this page. Well I want to limit that to only a few.
Right now I'm using the File-bases authentication model.
Reading the contribute publishing services manual I read:
"When you extend this service, consider adding the following
functionality:
• Authentication and permissions
You can add authentication functionality to limit access to
the service.
Tip: Macromedia strongly recommends that you add
authentication. To do so, you can simply
copy the settings file and save it as a separate service in a
subfolder for each website, or you can
write you own security interface to handle multiple
websites."
I'm confushed by this. 1) what settings file? I have two
types of settings.xml files (one for determing live and staging
servers and another that has info for webservers, approvals and
etc.) but they dont have any authenticaion info for CPS server.
2) what folders on what server is the above statement
refering to?

I believe you need ColdFusion for Simple File Deployment and
the other options you mention - VERY expensive. For publishing, use
RoboCopy - it's free.
