Restrict no. of entries in the multiple selection of DOCNUM of EDID4 tab

Hi,
Is it possible to restrict number of entries in the multiple selection of DOCNUM of EDID4 table.
i.e., Select the content button on se11 for EDID4 table. We can see the selection screen of the table. Press the multiple selection button of 'DOCNUM', we get a popup. Is it possible to restrict the no. of docnum entry to 500. If i enter more that 500 entries, it should popup a message.
Please share your ideas. I am working on 4.6c.
Points will be rewarded.
Thank you.
Regards,
Ramesh

Hi Atish,
Thanks for your reply. I checked for BAdis. But I couldnt find. Is there any other ways of doing this?
User is trying to import the docnum values from presentation server file using the 'Import from text file' icon on multiple selection popup. As the no. of docnum were 4500, during the execution of this process, other process trying to connect to oracle is going for short dump with message 'Run-time error (Oracle error code: ORA-4031)'. So user wanted to restrict it to 500.
Hope my explanation is clear.

Ramesh

Hi Selva,
For removing the interval set the parameter 'i_no_intervals' of method add_selection_field to true.
Complex restrictions has following parameters.
l_complex_restrictions-m_include-eq = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_include-cp = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_include-ge = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_include-gt = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_include-le = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_include-lt = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_include-ne = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_include-np = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_exclude-eq = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_exclude-cp = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_exclude-ge = abap_true.

l_complex_restrictions-m_exclude-lt = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_exclude-ne = abap_true.
l_complex_restrictions-m_exclude-np = abap_true.
You can set the value of these as desired. Also pass i_use_complex_restriction parameter of method add_selection_field as true while using complex restrictions.

Hiii
In main program you have dclared subscreen area.
now First of all you have to declare a selection screen in your main program
selection-screen begin of screen 1005 as subscreen.
SELECT-OPTIONS s_bukrs1 for v_bukrs. "whatever you want in selection screen
selection-screen end of screen 1005.
IN PBO of your main screen (not in 1005) write
call subscreen SUB1 including sy-repid '1005'.
where SUB1 is your subscreen area name. And remember don't touch PBO or PAI of your 1005 screen, otherwise it will give you error. Yuo can just put text in layout of 1005 screen. but don't disturb other things.

• How to Save the multiple selection check box values into the database

i have the multiple selection check box implemented in UI through drop down list,i can choose the desired values from the drop down through checkbox, but i m unable to store these values and commit the values into the database all at a time.

You can access the values using listbinding and can then store them as a string by using a delimiter.

• How will i display the multiple select ids in the dashboard ?

I have a form where there is a multiple select. When the form is submit, the ids for the multiple select is stored in the database as concatenate. For example, multiple select : 3,9,5,1.
The ids of the multiple select is found in a table TABLE1 and the insertion is done in another table TABLE2.
Now I have to display them in a dashboard.
My question is how will i display the multiple select ids in the dashboard ?
I have to do an innerjoin with TABLE1 to retrieve the names of the multiple select ids. I don't know how to do it because the column name for multiple select in TABLE2 is of type text and the column id in TABLE1 is of type int.
Please help me solve this problem.
Thanks in advance

One general advice is, never store comma-delimited lists in the database. In fact, the reason is to avoid problems like the one you now face.
The major suggestion here is to re-design your database. Make sure each selected item (for example 3, 9, 5 or 1) is stored in its own row.
To solve the problem as it now stands, you could do something like
<cfquery>
select myItems
from table2
where id in (select id from table 1 where ...etc.)
</cfquery>
Then use ColdFusion's list functions to do what your dashboard requires you to do.

Hi,
In the screen layout, open the attributes for push button. there u find four columns of group.
Enter any text in that and write a query like this......
(if text eneterd is GR1).
Loop at screen.
if screen-group1 = 'GR1'.
screen-input = 0.
modify screen.
endif.

• How to use multiple selection parameters in the data model

Hi, after have looked all the previous threads about how to use multiple selection parameters , I still have a problem;
I'm using Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.3.2 and I'm tried to define more than one multiple selection parameters inside the data template;
Inside a simple SQL queries they work perfectly....but inside the data template I have errors.
My data template is the following (it's very simple...I am just testing how the parameters work):
<dataTemplate name="Test" defaultPackage="bip_departments_2_parameters">
<parameters>
<parameter name="p_dep_2_param" include_in_output="false" datatype="character"/>
<parameter name="p_loc_1_param" include_in_output="false" datatype="character"/>
</parameters>
<dataTrigger name="beforeReport" source="bip_departments_2_parameters.beforeReportTrigger"/>
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q2">
<![CDATA[
select deptno, dname,loc
from dept
&p_where_clause
]]>
</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="G_DEPT" source="Q2">
<element name="deptno" value="deptno"/>
<element name="dname" value="dname"/>
<element name="loc" value="loc"/>
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
The 2 parameters are based on these LOV:
1) select distinct dname from dept (p_dep_2_param)
2) select distinct loc from dept (p_loc_1_param)
and both of them have checked the "Multiple selection" and "Can select all" boxes
The package I created, in order to use the lexical refence is:
CREATE OR REPLACE package SCOTT.bip_departments_2_parameters
as
p_dep_2_param varchar2(14);
p_loc_1_param varchar2(20);
p_where_clause varchar2(100);
function beforereporttrigger
return boolean;
end bip_departments_2_parameters;
CREATE OR REPLACE package body SCOTT.bip_departments_2_parameters
as
function beforereporttrigger
return boolean
is
l_return boolean := true;
begin
if (p_dep_2_param is not null) --and (p_loc_1_param is not null)
then
p_where_clause := 'where (dname in (' || replace (p_dep_1_param, '''') || ') and loc in (' || replace (p_loc_1_param, '''') || '))';
else
p_where_clause := 'where 1=1';
end if;
return (l_return);
end beforereporttrigger;
end bip_departments_2_parameters;
As you see, I tried to have only one p_where_clause (with more than one parameter inside)....but it doesn't work...
Using only the first parameter (based on deptno (which is number), the p_where_clause is: p_where_clause := 'where (deptno in (' || replace (p_dep_2_param, '''') || '))';
it works perfectly....
Now I don't know if the problem is the datatype, but I noticed that with a single parameter (deptno is number), the lexical refence (inside the data template) works.....with a varchar parameter it doesn't work....
So my questions are these:
1) how can I define the p_where_clause (inside the package) with a single varchar parameter (for example, the department location name)
2) how can I define the p_where_clause using more than one parameter (for example, the department location name and the department name) not number.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion
Alex

Alex,
the missing thing in your example is the fact, that if only one value is selected, the parameter has exact this value like BOSTON. If you choose more than one value, the parameter includes the *'*, so that it looks like *'BOSTON','NEW YORK'*. So you need to check in the package, if there's a *,* in the parameter or not. If yes there's more than one value, if not it's only one value or it's null.
So change your package to (you need to expand your variables)
create or replace package bip_departments_2_parameters
as
p_dep_2_param varchar2(1000);
p_loc_1_param varchar2(1000);
p_where_clause varchar2(1000);
function beforereporttrigger
return boolean;
end bip_departments_2_parameters;
create or replace package body bip_departments_2_parameters
as
function beforereporttrigger
return boolean
is
l_return boolean := true;
begin
p_where_clause := ' ';
if p_dep_2_param is not null then
if instr(p_dep_2_param,',')>0 then
p_where_clause := 'WHERE DNAME in ('||p_dep_2_param||')';
else
p_where_clause := 'WHERE DNAME = '''||p_dep_2_param||'''';
end if;
if p_loc_1_param is not null then
if instr(p_loc_1_param,',')>0 then
p_where_clause := p_where_clause || ' AND LOC IN ('||p_loc_1_param||')';
else
p_where_clause := p_where_clause || ' AND LOC = '''||p_loc_1_param||'''';
end if;
end if;
else
if p_loc_1_param is not null then
if instr(p_loc_1_param,',')>0 then
p_where_clause := p_where_clause || 'WHERE LOC in ('||p_loc_1_param||')';
else
p_where_clause := p_where_clause || 'WHERE LOC = '''||p_loc_1_param||'''';
end if;
end if;
end if;
return (l_return);
end beforereporttrigger;
end bip_departments_2_parameters;
I've written a similar example at http://www.oracle.com/global/de/community/bip/tipps/Dynamische_Queries/index.html ... but it's in german.

• Multiple Selection dialog restricted to 5 rows

Hi All,
I have defined a select options in my WebDynpro view.
When I try to enter some value using the Multiple Selection dialog (Extensions) it only shows maximum of 5 rows.
If need to enter more data, I just have to press the "insert" button and add new rows.
But is there a way to populate more than 5 rows initially.
Or is there a way to give a "Upload from clipboard" functionality when a user needs to enter more than 5 rows of selection input.
Thanks in advance for your kind help.

hi Thomas,
Thank you so much for your quick response.
But is there a way that I could at least increase the number of visible rows initially?

• Multiple selection" in the field property in ACROBAT XI

When the "multiple selection" in the field property is available in FormsCentral, I can't find it in ACROBAT XI (Just bought it).
If this field is not available in ACROBAT XI, how can I modifiy the form uploaded (already built) in FormsCentral to be able to use this fonction ?
What I want to do is to have a mandatory field with several possible answers.

Thank you for helping me.
Unfortunately I'm not sure this is what I'm looking for.
If I use the Radio Button, every selection are mutually exclusive.
What I need is to be able to select several responses, but to have to select at least one of them.
People may have the choice of responding by checking one, two or more items but they must answer the question.

• SELECT-OPTIONS Multiple selection

Hello
I have the following line of code:
SELECT-OPTIONS: p_matnr FOR mara-matnr.
The users would like to use the multiple selection button to paste/upload from the clip board but unable until at least one entry is entered before the multiple selection will work. Is there a way for the multiple selection to work without entering a material?
THANKS

Hi Gary, Clicking the button shown below bring up the multiple selection screen without requiring a value. Do not add the obligatory keyword on the select-options statement as pointed out by Ramon.

• Setting current values in Multiple Select List in SQL Query based Report

Hi,
I have a report based on a sql query that contains a multiple select list. Unfortunately I cannot get the multiple select list to display the current values (p_value) correctly. I have created a page item, :p311_current_versions, that is set using a pre-header process and it returns a value with a colon delimited format e.g. '10.1.2.1.0:10.1.2.2.0'. Then this item is used in the sql query to set the current value (p_value) of the apex_item.select_list_from_query function. However when the table is displayed, instead of having two entries, 10.1.2.1.0 and 10.1.2.2.0 selected, it has an extra entry '10.1.2.1.0:10.1.2.2.0' selected.
Here is my code:
select distinct a.product, a.version from (
select distinct
apex_item.display_and_save(2,product)||apex_item.hidden(1,env_product_id) PRODUCT,
APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(3,decode(product, 'HTTP Server' , :p311_current_versions, version), 'SELECT distinct version d, version r FROM ebs_tech_stack where
product ='''||PRODUCT||'''',
decode(PRODUCT, 'HTTP Server' ,'multiple="multiple" style="width:170px"','style="width:170px"'),
'NO') as version
from ebs_environment_tech_stack
where environment_id = :p311_umgebung_id) a order by a.product
If anyone can help me figure out how to set the current values correctly I'd be really grateful!!
Thanks in advance,
Jean

Jean,
I don't think this is possible using the apex_item package. The select_list_from_query function accepts only a single value for the second parameter.

• Multiple Selection

hi gurus,
i am urgent need of the FM used to call the multiple selection option....which we will be using in select-options.
i am using like this because i cant use select-options in my existing module pool program. I could use them only in another screen and not on the the same screen.
please help me out.
Points will be rewarded.

There are 2 ways to create select-option in module pool.
Method 1
a) Create a subscreen area in your screen layout where you want to create the select options.
b) In the top include of your module pool program declare a selection screen as a subscreen e.g.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 100 AS SUBSCREEN.
select-options s_matnr for mara-matnr.
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN.
c) In the PBO and PAI of the main screen where the select options needs to be created do a call subscreen of the above screen (100).
CALL SUBCREEN sub_area INCLUDING  <program>   <screen>
This call subscreen statement is necessary for transport of values between screen and program.
Note: All validations of the selection screen fields e.g. the s_matnr field created above should be done in selection screen events like AT SELECTION-SCREEN etc and not in PAI. These selection screen validations etc should be done in the top include only.
Method 2
a) Create 2 separate fields in your screen layout - one for the low value and one for the high value. Insert an icon beside the high value which will call the multiple selections popup screen on user command. Use function module COMPLEX_SELECTIONS_DIALOG to achieve this.
struc_tab_and_field-fieldname = con_cust.  " 'KUNNR'
struc_tab_and_field-tablename = con_kna1.  " 'KNA1'.
CALL FUNCTION 'COMPLEX_SELECTIONS_DIALOG'
EXPORTING
TITLE                   = ' '
text                         = g_titl1                                " 'Customers'
tab_and_field     = struc_tab_and_field
TABLES
RANGE                   = rng_kunnr
EXCEPTIONS
NO_RANGE_TAB          = 1
CANCELLED                    = 2
INTERNAL_ERROR     = 3
INVALID_FIELDNAME = 4
OTHERS                           = 5.
IF NOT rng_kunnr[] IS INITIAL.
Read the very first entry of the range table and pass it to
dynpro screen field
READ TABLE rng_kunnr INDEX 1.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
g_cust = rng_kunnr-low.
ENDIF.
You can use the return table rng_kunnr to populate your own internal range table with the values entered by the user. Basically here you are just simulating the work of a select-options parameter by module pool screen elements.
Regards,
Joy.

• Multiple Selection for Plants

Gurus,
While using the Multiple Selection option in MMBE (The Arrow tab). I could not save the value of the plants I have entered. Requirement is that the plants needs to be added or removed as and when required./ ie plant need not ot be hard coded in the batch program which calls this screen. I tried using the Multiple Selection option where I created a list of plants in txt file and then imported the same. After I exit the transcation the plant disappers. Next time I have to manually enter the plants again.
Please let me know how to use this functionality.
Paddy

Paddy,
In standard SAP, MMBE does support the creation of variants. If you are unable to perform this activity, then it means you have an authorization issue. You need to consult with your authorization team to have the proper objects added to your profile.
Here are the steps required to create/run MMBE with a variant:
1.  MMBE
2. Enter the plant data. Your technique of importing via text file is acceptable. Also, manual entry can be used.
3. Enter any other settings that you wish to have selected during the batch run
4. Hit 'Save' icon (floppy disk).
5. Name the variant. Enter a short description of the variant. Ensure that the checkbox "save field without values" is unchecked for plant.
6. Hit 'Save' icon again. Clik though the confirmation.
Now, to use your newly created variant:
7.  MMBE
8.  Select Goto>Variants>Get.
9. Select your variant created in steps 1-6.
The fields should now be populated according to your original entry.
You can create a simple single step batch job by running the program in Background
10.  MMBE
11. Select your variant as in steps 7-9
12. Select Program > Execute in Background
13. Select output parameters (printer, etc)
14. Select start parameters (immediate; Date/time, After job, etc.)
15. Select if you wish to have the job run periodically. If so, enter the periodicity under 'Period Values'.
16. Hit the 'Save' icon at the bottom.
Or, you can use SM36 to create a job, which can also include multiple steps. The ABAP program is RMMMBEST and the variant is the one you created.

Hi,
I wanna add a field for 'Delivery number' in the screen of a mod pool prgm.I created a subscreen area in the main screen and did the coding needed.now the problem i am having is if i giv a single value in the from field or values in the 'From' and 'To' field its not taken to the program,i saw it while debugging. but if i enter the values in the multiple selection option its taken to the program.That means from screen its not going to the program where as from the multiple select option its taken to the program,What may be the propblem.
Regards in Advance,

Hi,
Have you used the select-options in the subscreen or you have placed the multiple option manually?
Either way, please check the two methods, it may solve your problem.
Create a SELECT-OPTIONS in module pool screen using two methods as shown.
Method 1
a) Create a subscreen area in your screen layout where you want to create the select options.
b) In the top include of your module pool program declare a selection screen as a subscreen e.g.
EXPORTING*
TITLE                        = ' '
text                          = g_titl1   " 'Customers'
tab_and_field             = struc_tab_and_field
TABLES
RANGE                     = rng_kunnr
EXCEPTIONS
NO_RANGE_TAB       = 1
CANCELLED              = 2
INTERNAL_ERROR     = 3
INVALID_FIELDNAME  = 4
OTHERS                       = 5.
IF NOT rng_kunnr[] IS INITIAL.
Read the very first entry of the range table and pass it to dynpro screen field
READ TABLE rng_kunnr INDEX 1.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
g_cust = rng_kunnr-low.
ENDIF.
ENDIF.
You can use the return table rng_kunnr to populate your own internal range table with the values entered by the user. Basically here you are just simulating the work of a select-options parameter by module pool screen elements.
