Restriction on Date Values

Dear Members,
I have a custom OAF Page in R12. In this page there is date field. Name of the date field is TransactionDate
I want to restrict the user to enter a date only between *01-JAN-2012 and 01-APR-2012*.
To achieve the above requirement I followed the OAF Dev Guide and written the below code in the process request method of the page's CO.
String minDateVal="01-JAN-2012";
java.sql.Date javaMinSqlDate = am.getOANLSServices().stringToDate(minDateVal);
String maxDateVal="01-APR-2012";
java.sql.Date javaMaxSqlDate = am.getOANLSServices().stringToDate(maxDateVal);
OAMessageDateFieldBean dateField = (OAMessageDateFieldBean)
webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("TransactionDate");
dateField.setMinValue(javaMinSqlDate);
dateField.setMaxValue( javaMaxSqlDate);
The above code is not throwing any exception when user is selecting a date which is not between 01-JAN-2012 and 01-APR-2012.
Can any one please help me in resolving the above issue.

I am sure that the code what you've suggested will work like a charm.
Actually I was going through the OAF Dev Guide and found that the below code will restrict the user from entering any date which doesn't fall in it's range.
String minDateVal="01-JAN-2012";
java.sql.Date javaMinSqlDate = am.getOANLSServices().stringToDate(minDateVal);
String maxDateVal="01-APR-2012";
java.sql.Date javaMaxSqlDate = am.getOANLSServices().stringToDate(maxDateVal);
OAMessageDateFieldBean dateField = (OAMessageDateFieldBean)
webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("TransactionDate");
dateField.setMinValue(javaMinSqlDate);
dateField.setMaxValue( javaMaxSqlDate);
When I've used the above code in my page's CO it is not throwing any exception.
Therefore I just want to know how the above code should be used to throw an exception as per the OAF Dev Guide.
