Retrieve already deployed webdynpro for java source code from portal server

HI ,
   We have webdynpro for java apllication already deployed on the J2EE server.  We found the ear file related to this application.  But I am not able to make any changes to the ear file in NWDS as it cannot be directly imported into NWDS.  We do not have NWDI for software logistics and the resource who built the WDJ application has left the company.  Is there any way that I can retrieve the complete source code of the application from the portal.  I need to make some changes to Webdynpro component and its view.  I have worked with basis team to retrieve the ear file from portal server.  But I could not make any progress just with the ear file.  Thank you for your help in advance

KMM.

You are probably breaking some license agreement by de-compiling the content of the 'war' files. Why not ask the people who provided the 'war' file if you could have the source and build system.

    Hi,
    I have a successful Web dynpro portal application running, which I would like to modify. We lost the source code. Is there any way that I can get the source code from the portal?.
    Thanks and I appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    You can extract class files from app.jar and decompile it(.ear->.wda) but it is only generated classes without metadata. Metadata is stored in .wda file but format is not compatible with studio. That all options you have.
    Go through the following links, it will be helpfull to you

  • Converting class files into java source codes

    Dear Friends,
    It is true that conversion of class files to its java source codes is possible through some software. I want to know, is there any way to protect my java source codes from viewing or copying illegally by other persons ?
    If I create JAR file from java files, can it be also convertible back to source codes ?
    Avi

    You can use code obfuscators in order to protect your code. And yes a jar file can also be decompiled.

  • APT and Java source code generation

    Hi all,
    In many articles about APT tool, I read that it is possible to generate Java source code from annotations read by AnnotationProcessorFactory.
    I am very interesting by this possibility but I can't find an exemple (all exemples I found display informations only).
    Where can I find a concrete exemple of this functionnality ?
    Thanks
    Mickal

    Mickal
    I have a project on java.net that has several examples of code generation.
    Go to the project source code here.
    https://rapt.dev.java.net/source/browse/rapt/
    The ones here are quite simple
    https://rapt.dev.java.net/source/browse/rapt/src/net/java/dev/rapt/proposed/generators/
    and these packages are more complex
    https://rapt.dev.java.net/source/browse/rapt/src/net/java/dev/rapt/exploratory/#dirlist
    Check out the javadoc to see how they should be used.
    One pointer is, work out exactly what you want to generate first. Then code an example by hand, then make sure it compiles and does what you want it to do. That way you know exactly what you need to generate. It is much quicker to fix compiler and functional errors in your hand coded example, than to change the generator, recompile that, then run it to generate and compile the code.
    If you do find errors in your generated code, tweak the generated code by hand till it works, then go back and change the generator to do the right thing.
    A second point is: generate nicely formatted code, indented etc, then when it doesn't work, or doesn't even compile, you can at least read the generated code to debug it.

  • ESS - Deployment Error Webdynpro for Java

    Hi All
    To enhance the functionality of CatsApproval (sap.com/msscatapproval), We have created a custom DC and copied the source code from the above DC. After we enhanced the functionality in new DC, we have undeployed the old DC to avoid name clash and deployed the new DC (say xxx_msscatapproval).
    We are getting below error during runtime.
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to create deployable object 'sap.com/msscatapproval' since it is not a Web Dynpro object.
    We have found ''sap.com/msscatapproval' text have hard coded in some of the component and we have replaced with the new DC name but Still we r getting error.

    Hi,
    Iterate through the result set object
    populate the context node
    Ex:Replace the context nodeName with that of yours.
    ResultSet resultSet = stmt.getResultSet();
           //Iterate through the resultset
           while(resultSet.next())
                //Create element of the context node
               IWDNodeElement nodeElement = wdContext.nodeOrders().createElement();
               //assign value from the database to the context attribute
               //Replace attributeName with your attribute name
               //Replace value with resultSet.getShort("<ColumnName>")

  • Where is java source code for TitledBorder

    Where is java source code for TitledBorder?
    I don't want to decompile it, as it may be slightly different than the original.
    Is it in some jar file on my computer?
    Thanks

    It's different from the original because the names of objects are different. I decompiled them, because I didn't feel like paging through that URL to find them.
    I was trying to fix the TitledBorder, because it leaves like 2 pixels of padding outside of the border, but all the variables I change in that class don't seem to correct that.

    now i am planning to work on MDM JAVA APIs by using Webdynpro for Java as UI.
    1) can you please share the required documents on the same. how to start working on this by using MDM JAVA APIs in webdynpro for java
    2) what are the JARs files are required and how to integrate those jar files into webdynpro for java application.
    3)  is there any SDN help on MDM JAVA API with webdynpro for java? . can you please send the link on the same.
    4) can you please help by providing sample code on how to use JAVA APIs for retrieving,deleting,inserting and Updating the data in the database.
    if anybody helps on the same then it is the great help to me.

    Suresh babu

    Hi Suresh,
    You can have the MDM JAVA API javadocs from the link
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/SP06P2/index.html
    There you can see a package named com.sap.mdm.examples.The classes in it contains some examples using which you can start understanding the code.
    You need to have MDM JAR files for it. And these JAR files to be used at build time can be added to the project thru :-
    Right click on project-> properties->Java Build Path - > Add external JARs
    At run time you can add them the reference in
    Right click on project-> properties->web dynpro references->library reference.

    i wrote the following code to retrieve data from DB. which is working very much fine.
    public void
    onActionGetRecords(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
    while(rs.next()){
    tabstrip.comp.wdp.IPrivateSearchEmployee.IEmpDetailsElement elt= wdContext.nodeEmpDetails().createEmpDetailsElement();
                          elt.setSNo(rs.getString(1));
                          elt.setName(rs.getString(2));
                          elt.setPlatform(rs.getString(3));
                          elt.setPhNo(rs.getString(4));
                          elt.setCity(rs.getString(5));
                          wdContext.nodeEmpDetails().addElement(elt);
    Now my problem is when i call this action its adding the rows to Table UI elements.

    how to reset values in TableUI element when i click on reset button OR when i call onActionGetRecords(-----) methods,
    Please help me .....
    thanks and Regards,

    hi,
    if you want the data to be erased(reset)
    in your code
    tabstrip.comp.wdp.IPrivateSearchEmployee.IEmpDetailsElement elt= wdContext.nodeEmpDetails().createEmpDetailsElement();
    elt.setName("");
    elt.setPlatform("");
    elt.setCity("");
    wdContext.nodeEmpDetails().addElement(elt);
    by this way you can reset all the values present in the table
    and can you make it more clear for on action getrecords
    or  you acn use the remove method to remove the table element
    wdContext.nodeXXX().removeElement();

  • Webdynpro for Java Edit and Save.

    Dear all,
    ter cal
    iam working on webdynpro for java i want simple code for EDIT and SAVE  after calling a rfc in for using NWDS webdynpro for java.
    1)HOW TO SAVE AND EDIT THE FRONT WEBDYNPRO FOR JAVA APPLICATION
    2)AFTER SAVING AND THE DATA THAT SHOULD BE SAVED IN PA30 ARE PA20 AND IN PARTICULAR TABLE ALSO.
    PLEASE GIVE ME GOOD TIPS.

    Hi Kishore,
    Creating/Updating entries in tables through Bapis (RFC calls) work in the same way as it is done for other Bapis like those for returning values or even structures. All you have to do is
    1. Import the model, create a model node in your context and bind it to the Input structure of the model under used models.
    2.Create an istance of the Model input structure, like
         Z_Test1_Input input = new Z_Test1_Input();
    3. Set attibutes directly under the input structure
         input.setAttr1("XYZ");
    4. Set attributes under any other structure under Input Structure by first creating the instance of the sub-structure
        Z_SubStruct1 subStrc1 = new Z_SubStruct1();
        subStrc1.setSubAttr1("ABC");
    5. Add all available instances of sub-structures to the instance of input structure
        input.set<SubStruct1>(suStrc1);
    6. Add all available instances of tables under Input Structure after setting attributes within using
    for (int iCount = 0; iCount < wdContext.nodeVn_ContactInfo().size(); iCount++) {
          Z_Table1 zTable1 = new Z_Table1();
          IPublic<YourComponent>.IVn_Table1Element tab1Ele = wdContext.nodeVn_Table1().getVn_Table1ElementAt(iCount);
          zTable1.set<TableAttr>(tab1Ele .getVa_Attr1());
          input.add<Table1>(zTable1);
    7. Bind the instance of input structure to the model node.
       wdContext.nodeMn_TestModel().bind(input);
    8. Execute the model object and then invalidate the output structure under model node (Put this code in try catch block)
       wdContext.currentMn_TestModelElement().modelObject().execute();
       wdContext.nodeMn_TestModel().nodeOutput().invalidate();
    9. Retrieve values from the attributes, tables and structures under the Output Node of the Model Node (Mn_TestModel) as usual
    and store wherever in context as required. In case of output tables, you need to use FOR loop to iterate through the tables and access elements within using index (using wdContext.node<YourRequiredNode>().get<YourRequiredNode>ElementAt(int index)).
    Hope it is helpful.

  • ESOA & Webdynpro for Java.

    What is Enterprise SOA and Enterprise SOA?
    SOA is an increasingly popular concept. But it never really took off, because there has been no standard middleware or application programming interfaces that would allow it to take root. There were attempts to build them, then Web services came along and gave it a boost. The Web services underlying architecture dovetails perfectly with the concept of Enterprise SOA —so much so, in fact, that some analysts and software makers believe that the future of Web services rests with Enterprise SOA. SAP came up with the startergic decision on coverting the Webservice methodolgy to Enterprise Services Methodology "Which would have business semantics attached as capability".
    So how does EnterpriseEnterprise SOA differ from Web services?
    Most Web services implementations are point-to-point, where you have an intimate knowledge of the platform to which you're connecting. The implementation is fairly solid and the interface doesn't really change,. That means that the Web service is not made available publicly on the network, and cannot be "discovered" — in a sense, it's hard-coded in the point-to-point connection. In an Enterprise SOA implementation, information about the Enterprise services and how to connect to it is published in a UDDI-built directory, and so that Enterprise service can be easily discovered and used in other applications and implementations.
    Why use Enterprise SOA?
    A number of factors are driving the move toward Enterprise SOA. Cost savings is one. If you can reuse services you've already built, then you don't have to spend as much time and money developing new applications. Another factor is the increasing success of Web services. As companies build more Web services, unless they have an overarching architecture. For example, what happens when one of those Web services has been incorporated into other applications, but then the Web service is changed without telling developers of those applications? An overall architecture needs to be built to make sure that doesn't happen. Perhaps most importantlyis that an Enterprise SOA "increases a business's flexibility and lets it more quickly adapt to changing business needs." Most Web services are being used primarily "to solve point-to-point integration problems." But these solutions "can't solve the larger integration problems in converting hundreds of systems" to an overall, single enterprise architecture. For that, SAP Enterprise SOA is needed.
    But while the basic Web services architecture fits neatly into the Enterprise concept, there are still roadblocks to setting them up. Notable among them, Is security, identity management issues, and management problems — having software that will be able to track and manage hundreds or dozens of Web services and their development and deployment. SAP Software is just becoming available to do that. On the security side, the issues still haven't been solved.
    Reward points if useful.
    Cheers,
    Swamy Kunche.

  • How to read the Java source code (in Netbeans)

    I use OS X10.5.5, NetBeans 6.1 and JSE 6 on a 64 bit mac.
    When I downloaded NB6.1 it had JSE 5 as it's default (and only) java platform. I ran Software Update to get Java 6 from Apple, used the Java Prefrences utitlity to set JSE6 as default. In NB I added the JDK6 platform, registered the JDK6 javadocs and noticed that I also have the option of registering the Java source code.
    I have three questions:
    1) How do I make JDK6 the default in NetBeans. The JDK5 keeps being default after I did the steps above and I don't see anywhere to change that.
    2) How do I read the Java 6 source code? I can see sun provides [source code| http://download.java.net/jdk6/] for their supported platforms. I dont see Apple doing the same for its JDK port. What would I need to do to get to read the java SE6 sources? or is it actually hiding somewhere in the /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home hierarchy?
    3) Where does the JVM look for the binary code to run when I make a call to, say java.util.ArrayList or any other library. In my naivety I would have assumed it would be a .class file somewhere in the java Home folder, but I don't see anything like it.
    thanks in advance,
    chris

    This is taken from the help included with netbeans. In response to question 1.
    By default, the IDE uses the version of the Java SE platform (JDK) with which the IDE runs as the default Java platform
    for compilation, execution, and debugging. You can view your IDE's JDK version by choosing Help > About and clicking the
    Detail tab. The JDK version is listed in the Java field.
    You can run the IDE with a different JDK version by starting the IDE with the --jdkhome jdk-home-dir switch on the command line
    or in your IDE-HOME/etc/netbeans.conf file. For more information, see IDE Startup Parameters.
    In the IDE, you can register multiple Java platforms and attach Javadoc and source code to each platform. For example, if you
    want to work with the new features introduced in JDK 5.0, you would either run the IDE on JDK 5.0 or register JDK 5.0 as a
    platform and attach the source code and Javadoc to the platform.
    In  , you can switch the target JDK in the Project Properties dialog box. In  , you have to set the target JDK in the Ant script itself,
    then specify the source/binary format in the Project Properties dialog box.
    To register a new Java platform:
    Choose Tools > Java Platforms from the main window.
    Click New Platform and select the directory that contains the Java platform. Java platform directories are marked with a
    in the file chooser.
    Use the Sources and Javadoc tabs to attach Javadoc documentation and source code for debugging to the platform.
    Click Close.
    To set the default Java platform for a standard project:
    Right-click the project's root node in the Projects window and choose Properties.
    In the Project Properties dialog box, select the Libraries node in the left pane.
    Choose the desired Java platform in the Java Platform combo box.
    Switching the target JDK for a standard project does the following:
    Offers the new target JDK's classes for code completion.
    If available, displays the target JDK's source code and Javadoc documentation.
    Uses the target JDK's executables (javac and java) to compile and execute your application.
    Compiles your source code against the target JDK's libraries.
    If you want to register additional Java platforms with the IDE, you can do so by clicking the Manage Platforms button.
    Then click the Add Platform button and navigate to the desired platform.
    To set the target Java platform for a free-form project:
    In your Ant script, set the target JDK as desired in the javac, java, and javadoc tasks.
    Right-click the project's root node in the Projects window and choose Properties.
    In the Sources panel, set the level of JDK you want your application to be run on in the Source/Binary Format combo box.
    When you access Javadoc or source code for JDK classes, the IDE searches the Java platforms registered in the
    Java Platform Manager for a platform with a matching version number. If no matching platform is found, the IDE's default platform is used instead.
