Return to same record on previous page after using form

Hi,
I have an application that contains a table with tasks and subtasks (which are linked to a task), and for every task, there is a 'add subtask' link, which links to a form where I can create new subtasks for that task.
My problem is that when I have created a new subtask, and return to the previous page (with the overview of tasks and their subtasks) automatically by clicking the 'create'-button, that the report starts again at line 1. I would like it to go back to the same task for which I just added a subtask.
In my search for the answer, I came across these two discussions on this forum:
Re: navigate to previous record
after edit, return to the table where the record is at the same position
I tried to implement the solution they came up with in those discussions, but it didn't work for me.
The reason of this might be:
- It are old discussions, maybe some things have changed
- I use a standard report with custom template, they do not
- My link is on a field that has the same value for all records, being just a text item 'Add subtask', in the other discussions they made the link on an actual DB-field, in my case this would be for example task_id.
When I try to implement the solution on the second forum exactly (well, not exactly, I did of course adapt this to my situation), there is one step which doesn't work for me. It's the very last step:
"With these values: #LINK_&P2_EMPNO."
When I put the # in there, the button deletes all the information about the link when I click 'Apply changes'. When I don't use the # (just LINK_&P2_EMPNO.) he doesn't delete the information, but the link to the same record doesn't work.
This is how I implemented it:
Source page (overview of tasks and subtasks):
Link attributes: LINK_#TASK_ID#
Target: Page in this application     Page: 4 (form)
Item 1: Name: P4_TASK_ID, Value: #TASK_ID#
Item 2 (not important for returning to the source page): Name: P4_YEAR, Value: #YEAR#
Item 3 (not important for returning to the source page): Name: P4_TEAM, Value: #TEAM#
Target (form):
Action when button clicked: Redirect to page in this application
Page: 3 (source page)
With these values: LINK_&P4_TASK_ID.
It doesn't return to the correct record, but the task_id is included in the link as follows (when I tried to create a new subtask for task 02.01.08 and returned to the source page) f?p=37080:3:5503066190863::NO:::LINK_02.01.08 which is almost the same as they say in the discussion: f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:2::#LINK_&P2_EMPNO. (missing the '#'-sign and 1 less ':' before the link-item though).
Why isn't it working for me? How can I solve the problem?
Could I get some help with this please? It would be a very useful functionality in my application as there are a lot of records.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
NDG

  • After hitting  link in nbc news, there is no return to same spot on previous page.

    After hitting  link in nbc news, there is no return to same spot on previous page.

    I had a similiar problem.. perhaps my solution will give you an idea. My problem is I was returning a list of records.. when the user clicked more down I added the next 50 records.. but I didn't want them to have to scroll down themselves.. So the tag that generates the records inserted a specific id on the row I wanted to start with and then I used the following javascript to scroll down (all of this was in a nested scrollable div tag) This solution works in both FF and IE.
    var divObj = document.getElementById('AnchorDiv');
    var anchorObj = document.getElementById('ScrollHere');
    if(anchorObj!=null&&divObj!=null){
         divObj.scrollTop = anchorObj.offsetTop;
    }     So for you you could put an ID on the container that contains the tabs.. then when the page loads have javascript fire that scrolls the page down to that element... You will of course have to make sure you have some value on the form or in the session that you can use to tell you it is infact a tab change, so that it doesn't scroll down there all the time.
    That may not help, but it might get you thinking in the right directions..

  • How to return to the same PLACE on a page after you link to another page

    If you are on a long page that contains links, if you click on the link, go to the new page, read, then return to the first page, you are dropped at the top of the page, not where you left from as FF3.* did. It matters because some pages I use have hundreds of links and I have to hunt to find where I was so that I continue my process.

    It took me a while to find out. This issue has nothing to do with Firefox 8, I think. It is the way Google handles the page with your search results.
    In the top right corner of your Google home page click the settings button and change the search settings "Google Instant predictions" to OFF. Then hit SAVE and you will be able to go back to same scroll position of your Google search results page. Hope that helps !!!

  • Can I return to previous page after clicking a bookmark hyperlink?

    I am writing a book that I want readers to be able to click on a hyperlink to view more information about things, but then easily return to the previous page. For example:
    Ingredients:
    1 - apple
    2 - bananas
    4 cups sugar
    apple, bananas, and sugar would be hyperlinks taking the user to spot in the book where I discuss each. I want them to be able to easily return to the page that sent them, but cannot find a way to do it.
    Thank you!

    Well, perhaps I should give a little more detailed example to illustrate why I'm trying to do this. I see now that my initial example was probably overly simple.
    The book is an emergency care manual for providers in the field.
    It will have, for example, a section devoted to intubation that describes the technique, medications to use, proper verification, and so forth (this section would be a significant amount of information).  Then in a different section, say cardiac arrest, it will say "perform intubation per general guidelines" which will be just one little line of the entire cardiac arrest section.  I want to hyperlink "perform intubation.." to the intubation section but then have a way to quickly and easily return to the cardiac arrest section.
    Does that make more sense? Maybe there's a better way than hyperlinks/bookmarks, but I haven't discovered it yet.
    Thanks.

  • Safari reloading previous page after pressing the back button

    Hey guys, here my question regarding Safari...
    Why is it that every time I do the two finger swipe on the trackpad to go back to the previous page I was viewing on the web, freaking Safari takes me back to that page instantly but then automatically reloads the page. WHY?!?!
    I don't have this issue while using Firefox. I swipe to go back to the previous page and it's instantly available for me to continue browzing / scrolling, etc.
    Another thing I noticed in Safari is that if I'm half way down a page and click on something, which takes me to that page but then I swipe to go back, it doesn't take me back to where I was on the page (say, half way down, for example) it take me up towards the top (not all the way at the top, mind you, just up higher, NOT WHERE I WAS WHEN I LEFT THE PAGE) Why does it do this?!?! You'd think that Apple would have designed Safari to be the next best thing since sliced bread and that it would work instantly and flawlessly. I'd imagine that Firefox and other browzers would be the ones taking forever to load but it's freakin Safari that is doing this, I don't get it.
    For the record, Firefox functions flawlessly. Instantly shows the page I was at when I press the back button or swipe back and it puts me BACK IN THE SAME SPOT THAT I WAS AT BEFORE I LEFT THE PAGE!!!!
    I use both browzers as I need two (use both for different things and have different bookmarks saved, etc) but I'm starting to HATE Safari simply for this one issue I'm having. It makes surfing the web take 2x as long as I not only have to wait for the page to RELOAD after pressing the back button, I also have to scroll back down to where I was before I left the page, which takes TIME!
    Someone please explain this to me. I looked at other posts regarding this issue but there is no clear solution to the problem.
    HELP.

    I think Apple should give the end user the choice whether to autoload the webpage when you press the back button or not. It would be a simple fix for this issue that it seems a lot of people are suffering with.
    I WANT to use the default web browser that my Macbook Pro came with (Safari) and don't really want to use the alternatives (Firefox, Chrome, etc) but surfing the web is a slow, time consuming process with this auto reload "feature".
    Apple, Please fix this ASAP!
    This is my first Apple laptop (was a long time Sony Vaio / Windows user) and I expected good things from my Mac, after hearing / reading all the reviews but this Safari issue is a MAJOR turn off for me. It needs to be address ASAP.

  • New page unexpectedly loses ability to go BACK to previous page after clicking on a link in page (not consistent), why?

    Firefox 4.0 Vista 32 bit
    I will have a tab open, and click on a link, new page loads. The Back and Forward buttons do not work. Usually it shows in history (unless I opened too many pages before clicking on link). This has happened several times.
    It is not consistent - one time I used search bar and opened a Yahoo search page - clicked on search link and when I wanted to go back to look at another search link from the previous page- page would not load (BACK button dead). I clinked search again, clicked on another link and that time it allowed me to return to the previous page???
    I am about ready to go back to previous version.
    Thank you.

    It's a good idea to try disabling Flash completely and see whether the problem continues. If it does, then my guess is incorrect. To test that, open this tab:
    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
    Here you can locate Shockwave Flash and use the Disable button. Keep this tab open for easy access when doing your test.
    ''If your test confirms that Flash is causing the problem,'' then the other thread has two suggested workarounds. The first is simple to understand (keep some Flash running at all times) but may be inconvenient to do all the time. The second is trickier because it requires editing a file in (or creating and then dragging a file into) a system folder. Fortunately you only need to do it once.

  • Why does firefox keep going back my a previous page after i want to go elsewhere?

    when I am in google looking for images and i go to change my search criteria, firefox goes back to the previous page i was on right after i hit my arrow to go. then i have to do this time and time again. and it's getting frustrating!

    Hello Mandy.
    I can't think of a scenario where Firefox would make itself the default browser against the user's consent. Still, go into Tools > Options > Advanced > General > System defaults and untick that small box at the bottom of the window that talks about Firefox asking you each time it starts.
    Hopefully that will fix the issue.

  • Back button does not work with some web sites to return me back too Firefox main page after concluding business on site.

    After connecting to a web site and completing tasks, I use back button too return too Firefox main page. After using back button to get back to the original site log in page the back button (after repeated uses) will never get me off the web page and back to the Firefox main page. At this point the only way too get back too Firefox main page is too shut down Firefox wait 60 seconds and restart Mozilla-Firefox.

    Some web pages are coded to redirect you forward to another page. In that case, when you go back to the page, Firefox redirects you forward again.
    To bypass this, use the history drop-down next to the back and forward buttons. The drop-down has the most recent pages on top, and older pages below. Jump as far down the list as you can, then repeat as needed to get back to the first page.
    Does it work?

  • Browser back button returns user to top of previous page, not previous location on previous page.

    Had a user wanting to know why the back button won't take them to the location they were at on the previous page.  In other words, if they are mid-page, and click a link to a new SharePoint page or document, then click the back button, it takes them
    to the top of the previous page rather than their former location in the previous page, meaning they need to scroll to find their previous location on that page.
    Is there a way to resolve this, or at least an explanation I can provide as to why this is occurring?  Thanks!

    Hi,
    This should be a behavior by design with the OOTB pages cause there is no such built-in feature included in SharePoint 2013.
    If there is a need to implement this requirement, we can use JavaScript to achieve it.
    Here is a similar thread with a solution provided in one of the posts:

  • Problem in how to stop displaying previous page after Logout

    <%
    // I invalidate all my session when i logout and comes on Login.jsp page but if i go back still it open
    previous pages
    How i can stop these
    i am adding these line in avery jsp page
    1)
    response.setHeader("pragma","no-cache");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-cache");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-store");
    response.addDateHeader("Expires", 0);
    response.setDateHeader("max-age", 0);
    response.setIntHeader ("Expires", -1); //prevents caching at the proxy server
    response.addHeader("cache-Control", "private"); //IE5.x only;
    %>
    2) and in Logout.jsp
    response.sendRedirect("Login.jsp");
    session.invalidate();
    session.removeAttribute("viv");
    still on reaching login page i can move to previous page by clicking back button

    Hi sreenathreddy.
    I am doing exactly what you are talking about.
    On load of each jsp page, I check to see if I am still in session. If i am not, i redirect the user to the login page saying his session has expired.. This works perfectly fine in the sense that after I log out, if I directly type in the url or click on any other link from history, it redirects you to the login page.
    But my problem sitll remained that after logging out, if i clicked the back button, it would still take me to the previous page even though none of the links on that page would work.
    So i added all the response.SetHeaders that are mentioned in this discussion.
    Now the scenario is such that, when i press the back button after logging out, it tells me that the page has expired and i have to resubmit the form.
    There are two problems with this
    1. at this point , if i refresh my page, it still gets the details from the server and even though i am invalidating the session and all the user details, and checking to see if the session is invalidated,it still somehow manages to get all the details(i dont know where that info is stored)
    2. even if the person has not logged out. ie in the middle of a perfectly valid session and clicks on the back button, he is warned that the session has expired.
    please do reply
    thanks

  • I cannot go to the previous screen after using a link or attachment

    after using a link or attachment, i have only two options under "file": "new tab," which takes me to my desktop/screen saver, or "new window," which takes me to my home page (iGoogle). This forces me to basically start over, a real time-waster.

    Thank you very much for getting back with me about the issue I'm having with my cell.
    I uninstalled then reinstalled Chrome and pages still went blank. Same as before, so that didn't make a difference. Then I installed a different browser-Firefox. Same issue-site disappears and goes black, returns to main screen on my cell. This makes me think it's the phone. I just bought it too. Only thing is...I bought it at my local Walmart and not to sound unkind but the folks in the electronics dept. aren't very knowledgeable or helpful. If they replace my phone I hope they do their best to make sure my cell works before I leave Walmart.
    What is your professional opinion/diagnosis? I appreciate your help.

  • Dreamweaver creating mystery code at bottom of page after using BC module

    I'm having an issue with the BC module in dreamweaver, I've talked to BC support and they have told me I need to talk to dreamweaver support. I talked to dreamweaver support and they said it's some kind of coding/scripting issue and it is not their problem (even though it is dreamweaver creating this code, not me). Every time I insert something from the BC module it creates lots of '>>>>' at the bottom of the page and sometimes puts the info there. Also, I can't remove these after. I've created this jing video to explain better.
    http://screencast.com/t/b8XO3ynRGTF

    Hey Tim,
    I don't know what's actually causing your problem with adding the ">>>>>>>>" at the end of your html doc. Maybe your code isn't proper and some tags aren't close making DW behave weird but I do know that if you stop using DW's local Template functionality you will be able to edit those changes. What's going on when you try to move the module and erase those ">>>>>>" characters is that code is outside DW's Template and it looks like you applied a template to the page you are working on.
    There are two ways to do templating with BC. One is to just use DW's local templating agent to control the content and templates.  The other way is to just use BC's templating engine which is different from DW.
    BC lets you use sitewide templates that reside in your /Templates folder and render that template onto other pages in your site on the fly.  Here's what I'd do:
    Edit your Site Properties in DW and find your Remote Site and Testing Site FTP properties.
    If you setup your website in DW with the BC Site Setup Wizard, you'll notice in the FTP properties that the user login name is appended with "/dw".  This tells BC that you want to use DW's templating engines on your site and lets you upload/save .DWT files in the /Templates directory.  Remove the "/dw" part of the user login.
    Now that you are using straight FTP, goto the File pane and goto the Remote Server file system. Open up the Templates directory and download your template again.  Note: You shoud notice your template now has a .html extension instead of .dwt.  That's ok, we're now going to use BC's templating instead of DW's local templating.
    Make sure the template you downloaded has the {tag_pagecontent} in the source wherever you want the page content to appear from your pages dependant on this template.
    Once you confirm {tag_pagecontent} is in place, re-upload your .html Template back to the server.
    For each individual page that is tied locally to your Template follow these directions:
    Open page in DW
    Goto Modify > Templates > Detach from Template
    Once detached from template, remove all the outer "template" code.  What you want to keep behind is just the content that is for that page only.
    It's ok if you don't have proper html formatting on the page content... BC will insert this code into your template we made a few steps back.
    Save the file.
    Upload to BC.
    Login to your Admin panel on BC and surf to the page you just edited/uploaded.
    Find the template dropdown and choose your Template that you uploaded as the one to use for this page.
    Click Update.
    Now you are using BC's templating engine instead of DW's local templating which sometimes causes problems but also adds all this extra markup to control the templating.  Now, when you re-download your page to insert modules into DW shouldn't give you a problem about editing anything since it's not attached locally to a DW template.
    I don't know why it's inserting those ">>>>>" but you should take this opportunity to start using BC's templating instead of the built-in DW templating. It's cleaner and more modular.
    Also, not that your page content could just be a line of text. You don't need to have <html><head> or <body> tags in pages that use BC templates since that content gets rolled into the sitewide template on the fly. You can certainly have valid page content with <head> and <body> tags but you don't need them if you are using a BC sitewide template.
    Also, note that if you need specific scripts or meta data at the page level, just include them in your page content and BC will use whatever is in the <head> element or any changes you make to the <body> tag to the sitewide template when your page is being served.

  • Ability to add pages after making form

    I have a pdf file with one form on the last page made in LiveCycle but my client needs to be able to insert pages in acrobat on their own after the form is made. They don't have access to LiveCycle...but the insert page option in acrobat is greyed out after a form is made on the pdf...is there any way in acrobat around this? Or a setting I can make in LiveCycle?

  • IWeb can't find previous pages after transfer/reinstall

    I recently got a "new" (read: my husband's previous) MacBook Pro and lost some of my files/folders due to a problem during the transfer.  I had to reinstall iWeb and now it won't find the pages I had created and published previously with it.  The pages are in their own folder (SuzWebPages) as I had to manually restore them instead of letting the computer copy everything over.  When I open iWeb, it can't find the pages.  I have looked through other help topics on this and tried moving the SuzWebPages folder to the iWeb folder in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and renaming it to a .sites2 file, but iWeb still doesn't see the folder/site/pages and opens with the choose a new page screen.  When I right-click and choose Open With on the actual pages, iWeb is grayed out.
    I went from Yosemite 10.10.1 to the same version.  I had to reinstall many programs which did not transfer or were corrupted, such as MS Word, Safari, and Mail, but all were able to find my previous files although none retained my information.
    Any suggestions?  I can provide any further information needed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Suz

    The file/package you need to have for use with iWeb is called Domain.sites2.  The folder containing your published webpages is of no use with iWeb.
    If you still have your old Mac go to your Home/Library/Applications Support folder and look for the iWeb folder. It will have the domain file you need.  Copy the iWeb folder to the same location on your new Mac and launch iWeb.
    Otherwise you'll have to rebuild your webpage from scratch.  If you have to do that I suggest you switch over to a new web development application as iWeb has been discontinued for about 2 years.
    One app that many have migrated to because it is so like iWeb in its user interface and how it works (but with many more features) is EverWeb.  There's a 30 day demo version that you can try to see if you like it.  To recreate your website with it you can copy text and photos from your existing site and paste into the EverWeb version.
    For other potential iWeb replacement apps search the iWeb forum for "iWeb alternative" or "iWeb replacement".

    I seem to have succeeded with the Image rollover replacement and link. Clicking on the Header should have activated it so that I could delete it; but it didn't.
    This is the problem with working in Design View only.  You really need to work in Split View so you can see the code that DW creates/selects for you.  Often times, selecting elements in Design View will capture too much or too little code.  When you  hit delete, you may have deleted much more code than was needed.   The result is invalid code, unbalanced tags, etc.. all of which might explain why your page is blank in Design View.
    Switch to code view.  Copy & paste the remaining code into a web forum reply (do not use e-mail, it won't come through).  If we can see the code you have to work with, we might be able to help you repair it.
