Returning a value based on user-supplied sql variables

I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1, ADF and JSP.
I want to return a primary key based on values a user enters in unbound fields (like inputText). They'll be entering information for a record including a 10-segment GL code, and when the other bound values are committed, I'd like the associated GL id to be returned for the row (if found). Validation is not necessary at this point. A null return is okay.
I've defined bind variables in a GL view object - one for each of the 10 segments - plus a jspx form with 10 inputText objects.
Does it sound like this is going in a logical direction? I'm stuck at this point, and am open to suggestions.

1. Open the formula workshop.
2. From the Repository Custom Functions, under Crystal and then Date, RIGHT click on cdlastdayofmonth, click on ADD TO REPORT.
3. Create a new formula, in the formula workshop, under FUNCTIONS, go down the list till you see "CUSTOM FUNCTIONS", expand that till you see cdlastdayofmonth.
4. In your formula, type cdlastdayofmonth(currentdate)
5. Save and close and display the formula in your report, you should see 11/30/2008.
If you want just the day then modify the formula to:
totext(day(cdlastdayofmonth(currentdate)),0,'','');
since you have parameters for month and year, do this:
totext(day(cdlastdayofmonth(date({?year},{?month},01))),0,'','');
to give you the last day of the month.

Key figure value based on user input.

Dear Friends,
We are using BI7.00 and NW2004S. In one of our report to monitor the number of notification closed and the number of notification open upto the user selected month. For this i have created a Query which has selection screen value as month. I have created a condition which will fetch the difference in days (notification completion - notification creation date) based on user entered value. For example if user enters 10 in the selection screen, report will fetch the notifications which have diffrence in days as 10.
The condition is okay for the above. What user actually wants is the number of notifications completed and that pending based on the value he enters in the screen. For example he enters 10 in the screen, system should show the values as shown below

I tried various options but could not achieve this.
Experts help expected. Kindly provide solution.

As per my understanding 1 firstly u have to find out
the no of days (diff between dates notification completion, notification creation date .)
then u have to create condition on no of days which u
have find.there u have to create one user entry
variable for the user can enter his own parametrs.
Right?????
If It is right..
here are the steps..
1st:in the query designer at key figure coloumn create
one local formula.in that local formula create formula
variable with replacement path.in that take reference character
notification completion.in the next tab take replace ment
as key.in the last tab select "date".
2nd: do the same thing for the notification creation date.
3 rd : create 3 rd local formula and do the substraction
for the first 2 local formulas.
4th:create codition on the difference which u have find with
on that condition u can create one user entry varibale.
5th:while u defining the query put these 2 dates,i,e
notification completion, notification creation date in the character block.
If not system will ignore the formula variable which u created in
above steps.

Return a value based on multiple criteria

Dear Support Community,
I am trying to formulate a function so that I am able to return a cell value based on more than one criteria.
Referring to the attached screen shot, "Local Start Time" refers to the time that a person will start a work shift, and depending on the "sectors" the person's duration of time at work will vary.
For example, if a person starts work between 07:00am and 07:59am AND the particular shift involves 2 sectors, the allowed time at work is 12H15M. However, given the exact start time, if the shift only involves ONE "sector' the allowed time at work becomes 13H00M etc.
I am trying to formulate a function whereby I can tell the spreadsheet the local start time AND sectors, and then have the appropriate time returned.

Columns A and B have a Custom Format that allows them to be numbers (not Text) with leading zeroes.
Hide Separator to get rid of the comma
Show zeroes for Unused Digits to show leading zeroes.
Then you can enter "Army Time" (24 hour clock with leading zeroes) into a Query table

Return array value based on selection criteria

I have one data field that holds text data similar to below:
"Meeting Room 1 (Projector), Meeting Room 2 (Whiteboard), Meeting Room 3 (Video Conferencing)"
"Meeting Room 3 (LCD Display), Meeting Room 1 (Video Conferencing), Meeting Room 2 (Whiteboard)"
The meeting rooms are not always in the same order, I cant count on Meeting Room 1 being followed by Meeting Room 2 etc.
My objective is to only return the meeting room that has the Whiteboard.
I'm aware that I can use SPLIT to seperate the Meeting Rooms by the comma and place their components into an array.
What I'm not sure how to do is return the meeting room with the Whiteboard when that could be [1] in the Array or [2] or [3] in the array.
I need to return the array value based on its contents. Could someone help me 'search' the array created by the SPLIT command and always return that value with the word 'Whiteboard'

Returning 'Day' value based on month and year parameters

Hi,
Is there a code that would return an end of the month Day value based on month and year parameters?
For example if my parameters yield 9 or September for a month value and 08 or 2008 for the year value, can a formula generate a value of 30 (the last day of the given month in the specific year)?
This way the formula would pick up the different last day of the month in February for the leap years.

Trying to set attribute value based on user selection of another attribute

I am trying to set an attribute value based on the user's selection of another attribute using JSP EditCurrentRecord. When the user chooses the AreaId from the combo box I want to look up the value of the RgnID, preferrably without the user seeing this field at all. Below is my code which does not work. When I run it I get Error Message: null. Any suggestions are appreciated!!

ok, sorry everyone for making it confusing; this is what I am
trying to acheieve;
I would like the user to populate my database with thier
username AND userID. I have a dropdown box with thier username
dynamicly populated already, what I am trying to achieve, is a way
of when the user selects thier username either another dropdown or
a hidden field is automatically populated with the appropiate
userID (to match thier username). Now I could just have two
dropdowns and they select both, but i'd rather avoid the
possibility of mismatches, and that is why I would like it to be
automatic and based on thier username selection...
Does that make sense....?

Pass variable and set default value based on user's group

I'm using SharePoint 2010 and SQL 2012. I need to send a variable to the page and based on its value, set default value for a drop down list and send it to other web part to filter the data. Is it possible for certain users to send that value as a default
and limit user to see only this value in the text field or drop down list; for others - to allow to see the drop down list, but also set the default value for that list?
The main page was designed in SharePoint designer, using web parts (aspx page). I had setup a connection to Active Directory and already have the code to get user's groups and based on their group, I have that variable pulled into the web page for further
use. But I don't know how to pass that value as a default value to the web part (currently using SharePoint Filter web part). When I tried to set a default value for the web part - it automatically puts the quotation marks around the name of the variable
and shows it as a text instead of showing the value of the field.

Thank you for your response. I'll try to give you more details. On PageA I check user's groups and based on the group, assign the value and pass it to the next page (no input from the user, all done behind the scene and user is redirected to PageB).
On the next page I read that value and would like to send it to the SharePoint List Filter Web as a default value, as well as send it to another web part that displays the list from SQL, filtered using that default value. Ideally, if the user is from Group
A, I'd like for them to have only one value in that drop down list; if user is from Group B - give him drop down list with 40 items to choose from. Below there is a part of the code and variable fnum has the value from PageA (if I print the value on the screen
- I do see that it has correct value, so the code that gets groups from Active directory works correctly). If I assign fnum as a default value of the list, it shows "fnum" instead of the value of variable fnum. I connect to SQL database, using external
content - so the other list that I'm filtering based on the value in that drop down list - is XSLT Data View Web part. I also have 2 more filters on that page, that user will have full access to and based on their input, it is also sent to the XSLT web part
to filter out more data. Since one of the filters is the date and I am filtering data starting from the date that user chooses - XSLT is the only web part that I was able to make it work with.
I looked at the link you provided (thank you). It is using Content Query Web part. Will it work with external content, as well as accepting multiple filtering, including custom starting date? I appreciate your help!

Derive values based upon user input

Hello,
I recieved a request for a report.
When a user runs the report they are to be prompted for a fiscal year/period.
Based on the fiscal year/period that the user provides I have the following columns (in bold below are 2 examples that may make the description more clear).
1. Revenue for the Fiscal year Prior to the fiscal year of the user input value
2. Revenue for the Fiscal year/Period prior to the input Fiscal year/period
3. Revenue for the Year to date accumulation up to the prior fiscal year/period that the user input
4. Revenue for the Year to date accumulation up to the prior fiscal year (fiscal year rolls back first) and prior period (for period 01, it then rolls back the fiscal year 1 more year) that the user input
Example 1: If the user ran the query and they provided the value 05/2007, then the values that need to be obtained would be:
1. Revenue for 2006
2. Revenue for 04/2007
3. Revenue for 01/2007 to 04/2007
4. Revenue for 01/2006 to 04/2006
Example 2: If the user ran the query and they provided the value 01/2008, then the values that need to be obtained would be:
1. Revenue for 2007
2. Revenue for 12/2007
3. Revenue for 01/2007 to 12/2007
4. Revenue for 01/2006 to 12/2006
Please help me with determining how to obtain the user input value, and then how to derive the time periods for the columns based upon that value.

Average the value based on day in SQL

I have a table with two fields (SampleTime, value) the table likes:

The sample time has one hour interval. How can get average value of field2 based on day? like:
1999-01-01 average of all values within 1/1/99
1999-01-02 average of all values within 1/2/99
1999-01-03 average of all values within 1/3/99
Is there a build-in function in SQL to implement this? It should be very sample. But I am not sure how to write this SQL query statement. Thanks.

you wanted the date in mm/dd/yy format... convert(varchar(8),sampletime,10) gets you the output in that format..
you did not mention your sql version, if sql 2008 and above, you can use date funtion(it the format does not matter).

Widget to get drop down values based on user input query string

Hi,
I have a requirement, where in user types in some text and clicks on a search button. On button click, a drop down or some box appears which has result based on the input string (from json ). User can select one of the values in the drop down or box. User should be able to select values from drop down or box only.
How can I achieve this. Is there any custom widget in CQ for this, or I have to write my own widget.
Can i use SuggestField widget for this? if yes, please give some example for this widget.
I want something similar to "authselection" widget. In case of authselection widget user names come from CQ, in this case user name will come from some other system using a CQ custom json.
If user types "gopa" and click on search , i should be able to call a json with query parameter "gopa" & the result from the query will be in the drop down.

Modify Dynamic Prompt Values based on User Name

Hi,
I did some searching for this issue on the forum and could not quite find anyone with the same problem. If I missed something, please except my apologies in advance.
I have created a report within Crystal Reports 2008 with dynamic prompts. The report pulls possible values for the report directly from my database (MS SQL 2005). This works well.
I have deployed the report, with eclipse, under tomcat using the free JRC components provided by SAP.
This is a financial report which allows users to view the budget of a department. Each user will have one or many departments that they should have access to. Not everyone sees the same departmental information. I have a table that contains the user name of each individual and the department code they should have access to.
One of the dynamic parameters I have in the report now lists all department codes. Would it be possible to pass to the report a user name that would limit the listing within the department code parameter to only those departments the user name has access to (as specified in the security table I have setup for this)?
I need to do this within the JRC and not the Business Objects EDGE server. With this in mind, I do not believe I can use any of the RAS components of the JRC.

Get Variant Attribute Should Search for and return multiple values based on RegEx

I am using Variants as lookup tables (see this article):
Using Variant Attributes to Build a Dictionary or Look-up Table
I would like to be able to use some sort of wildcard to return multiple results from the Get Variant Attribute VI (all results are of the same type, and I don't know the exact names of all the results - those two points make this idea distinct from this idea: Set/Get Variant Attribute for Multiple Attributes).
Ideally the wildcard would be RegEx. If it were, the means by which you specify what to return is standardized.
In the above example, there would be some ambiguity in terms of whether or not you would want to return a result or an array of results given an input, and I doubt you could detect and assume RegEx is what the programmer desires to use. So I think this means a new input would be required to specify whether or not the "name" input of the Get Variant Attribute VI should be interpreted as a RegEx query.

Why RegEx? Why not SQL query? Why not filename wildcard matching?
I don't see anything that makes RegEx special. For this kind of functionality, the code that you've written seems like exactly the right way to do it rather than bolting a RegEx parser or any other system into the primitives or clouding the palette with a bunch of primitives to support various search functions. I could see a primitive that takes a VI refnum that has a conpane of string in/boolean out that you would pass in to supply the filter functionality that you want for any given application, but even that I'd lean toward just letting that be a library that someone writes on top of the primitives. Yes, there is some memory reduction that can be done if it is internal to the primitives, no question about that. But there are so many variations in how to do that filtration/sorting/etc that I'm not confident that any prim would cover a sufficient use case to be worth it. I could be wrong here ... let's see what other comments come in.

Return a value based on dropdown list

I am a newbie in making PDF form and had recently started working with Live cyle to create a fillable form and managed to create a usable one patterned with the sample Purchase Order Form (by trial and error) which came along with the installation. Can somebody please help me with this form. I have a dropdown list on the ITEMS column and want it to automatically display the unit price of the item selected from the drop down list. By the way I managed to make the table flowable.

Display characterstics value only if user populates respcetive variable

I have a strange situation wherein I have to show results according to characteristics only if user has populated respecitve var. for ex, i have cal year and cal month in query. If user only populates cal year than cal month should not be dispalyed in output and if user populates cal month then cal year shoudlnt be dispalyed in output.

write CMOD code for the two variable in i_step = 2 .
using flag option which will be set if any of the variable value is entered. SO based on it value other value will be blank.
